I've been in hundreds of antique shops (yeah, I know, I should get a life) but never one like this. They have a shabby chic section, Texas section, Christmas section, Halloween section, antique postcards section, and, not everything is old. You will find lovely jewelry, purses and books here, too. We spent the better part of an hour wandering about and gawking. It was like a museum. I was so overwhelmed and wanted so many things that I had to leave. It's like going into a car dealership without the sleezy salesman. You want everything. The candy apple red convertible. All the whistles and bells. Lots of things just like regular antique stores, just extremely expensive. There wasn't many things that I picked up or saw where I would buy at the price that was marked. Most everything is about 50% more than I would be willing to pay. read more

I saw this store listed as a good vintage store in Georgetown and after visiting, I would definitely not describe it that way. Yes, it is a store and yes, some of it is vintage, but this is not where you shop for bargains. It's a high end home goods store that sells European and American antiques and quality reproductions. Think oversized stoneware pitchers and mother-of-pearl handled serving spoons and framed book pages of botanical illustrations and heavy linen tea towels. Staff is very friendly here, but stuff was way out of my price range. Lots of fun decorating ideas here, but this is not a place for an average junker. Would come back to see what decorating ideas I can find from here, but can't say I will probably buy from here anytime soon. read more

I recently visited Gatherings and was immediately overwhelmed. There simply isn't enough room to navigate through the store comfortably. I felt every corner I turned I was going to knock something over. They do have some cool items, but I think they are very overpriced. I also noticed they had a lot of reproduction items. I love all things vintage and don't have an issue with reproduced vintage items, except when they price them 3 x higher than normal and don't disclose that they are reproduced. Sometimes it's hard for some shoppers to know this, and I feel they'd be ripped off. I also noticed many Halloween décor items from the "Dollar Tree" store (where everything is truly a dollar) marked up 3-4 dollars, as well as some "Tim Holtz" reproduced photos and vintage cutouts of people that were marked up 3-4 times as well. Not cool. This shop does have some really pretty and unique items, but please ask a lot of questions and choose wisely before buying because all sales are final. read more

Sigh. I really hate to do this as Gatherings IS very cute, but I have an issue with the way they merchandise their goods. There are plenty of antique shops who also carry the cute, kitschy, shabby chic craft items, but most of them keep that stuff in one area of the store so that there is some clear division of the new, mass produced goods, and the actual vintage or antique items. At Gatherings, these items are deliberately mingled with the antiques. It's true, that does make for very cutesy displays. But it also makes looking for actual antiques nearly impossible. Worse, many items at Gatherings are deliberate reproductions. For example, they have Chinese made reproduction medicine bottles next to alleged antique medicine bottles, and there are many different examples of this throughout the store. It makes for a confusing shopping experience and it makes the store lack credibility. I was with someone who was looking at some neat jars of goat skulls and animal bones they had displayed. He found some sort of animal paw next to the jars of animal skulls and was very excited to buy it... until he turned it over and noticed that it had a "made in Philippines" sticker on it. At that point we both decided we wouldn't feel comfortable buying anything here as every item would be a guessing game as to whether it was a reproduction or legit. Again, there's nothing wrong with reproductions, but I don't think they have any place in a legit antique shop, or even a pawn shop for that matter. And there's nothing wrong with kitschy craft items, but please put them separately or they detract from the legitimacy of the actual antiques. read more

My mother and I visited Gatherings today for the first time and I have to say it is my new favorite store! It was an incredible mix of antiques and new merchandise, and the displays were so creative, thoughtful, and unique. I was amazed at how cohesive the store was after learning there are over 12 different dealers who share the space. It was such a fresh mix -- definitely something that rivals larger cities' options and should definitely be on your list of must-see places when visiting Georgetown, TX. read more

Not really what I would call an antique store. As other reviews say, this is a store that is a mixed bag. Upon entering the store there is a nice section of old stuff, and another small section in the back with old items as well. The rest of the store is full of new items made to look old. The business model seems to be to price everything no matter how small, old, new, or cheap looking at a minimum of $20. The mixture of some old and a lot of new, combined with the steep price tags for seemingly inexpensive items makes this a place that I would not recommend. read more
