This place is surprisingly big, with multiple rooms. I didn't find anything to take home but the large selection was unexpected. Prices are a bit high here. For better deals, check out Relics & Antiques down the block. The only thing that bugged me was their stacked wall art section. It was packed too tight thus it was impossible to flip through. The only option was to take things out and place them on the floor -- I decided to just give up. I mostly visit antique shops to look for wall art so this was disappointing. I popped into Rough & Ready because the outside looked cute. An old wooden white swing, some garden decorations, etc. but going inside, it just looked like old stuff. A strong note: I know nothing about antiques and pricing. But since I was here just walking around, I could see something's that triggered my child hood. Some old glasses. And a tin can, books, etc. There was a nice lady busy, moving things around, and staging items etc. Really is a lot to see. And different rooms to move about. Everything was clearly priced with little white tags. Even though I didn't buy anything, I did enjoy my walk around. Some items just remembered me of my childhood, and that was a nice experience in itself. read more

Stopped in R&R antiques during a recent afternoon hanging out in G'Town... lots of junk (literally) outside the store does a bit of a disservice to the inventory inside. While there is a lot of junk inside too, there are a few quality pieces that are legitimately "antiques" ... the quality stuff is way over-priced IMHO. More of a garage sale than a legit antique store. Staff was friendly! read more

From the looks of the outside of this place, it makes you not want to step inside because of all the junk outside. However, once inside, everything is well merchandised and well displayed. It is also quite spacious inside with lots of collectibles, furniture, pictures, and knickknacks to see. Definitely a great place to stop into, but expect to pay antique store pricing. We have been here a few times. Oddly enough, both me and my wife kept asking each other if we thought it was larger during the previous visit. I think it was just less crowded. This is an antique shop for the nick-nacks and small furniture. But definitely a place to revisit and see what new items they have. read more

Rough and ready definitely lives up to their name. Although many of the items are quite legitimate antiques (I was ready to buy a few myself) the woman at the register seemed more interested in asking me if I was prepared to cover up my tattoos for when I "get a corporate job" than helping me check out and answer my questions about the shop's antiques. When her questioning about my body turned hostile from her end I just had to put my items down and left. This is my favorite antique store in all of Round Rock and Georgetown. The prices are very reasonable, especially with the quality of most of the pieces. This shop is very eclectic with a broad range of styles. I could totally see Joanna Gaines going crazy in here! There is an outdoor side area to the store (if you're facing the store from the street, it's to the left) that has lots of cute metal and iron stuff. The people that work here are the antique dealers and so far I have had great experiences chatting with them, they are very knowledgeable. read more

I love, Love, LOVE this store! Over a 30 year span, my job took me to East Texas, North Texas, and West Texas. Along the way I've had the opportunity to shop at countless antique shops. Rough and Ready is by far my favorite. I've rarely left this store empty handed and I have shopped this store longer than I can recall, in fact, I made a haul today. I found an old red metal shop cabinet, a cloth sample bag from a local quarry, an old kitschy Texas ashtray, a vintage texas landscape oil painting, a couple of cookbooks from Taylor, TX churches, and a couple of sheets of Tommy Steiner Rodeo ads. I have found so many gems at this great antique store and have always been pleasantly surprised by the friendly customer service. Like most antique stores, there are some items that seem over priced, but compared to others, Rough and Ready has a much larger assortment of fairly priced items and some great deals! I shop here for props for my photography, decor for home and gifts for friends and I could (and do...) spend hours in here browsing for goodies. Rough & Ready packs a surprising amount of goodies into their store. There is so much to look at that you can easily spend an hour just looking. I've found their prices to be pretty standard, nothing over-priced but nothing a real bargain, either. We do usually find one or two items that we need though, a lot of items are merely a buck or two so it's easy to find something you need. I do wish they were open on First Fridays. You'd think a downtown business would want to capitalize on the added foot traffic, and if they were open I would definitely go there! But instead we only go when we happen to be downtown anyway. But when you are in the neighborhood, this is definitely worth a stop even if you're only browsing. They have everything from smalls, books, furniture, signage, and local oddities. read more

I've shopped many antique stores and this place is way over priced. But that's not what's prompted me to give a bad review. It was the HORRIBLE customer service - by one of the owners, no less! This place is a co-op, so the "owners" of the booths take turns manning the store. The day I was there (a Sunday in mid-October) the woman at the desk was either in a foul mood or is just that way naturally. I asked a couple of questions about a cowboy hat my son was looking at and decided against buying it because I noticed it had a couple of small (moth?) holes in it...and wasn't worth the price. She acted irritated that I wasn't going to buy it after all. Then - here's the bad part - my 75 year old mother wanted to see a clock. She asked the woman would she wind it to see if it actually worked. She was told "no." So, mom asked if she could wind it herself. She was told "go ahead." Well, the winding mechanism proceeded to fall out of the clock. The woman working just sat there watching my mom feel bad that it happened and frustrated that she couldn't fix it (even with my teenage daughter's help) and made no attempt to help my mother put it back together. She was obviously annoyed. I went over and said I'd take care of it. The woman promptly said "it was fine till your mom - or whoever this is - touched it." Well, that just sealed the deal. No one talks ugly to or about my mother! I said, "Ma'am...things happen in the course of business, and if you were concerned, you shouldn't have said she could wind it." I gathered up my family, put down any potential purchases and began to walk out the door. The woman said "I hope you'll come back..." PLEASE! Are you kidding me? After that, I will NEVER walk in that store again, and will NEVER recommend the place to anyone! Shame on anyone who treats any customer this way!!! read more

Not only an overpriced store, but I went there and found a piece that I wanted to give my wife for her garden. The piece was for sale, but had a faded tag. The proprieter not only couldn't give a price, but wouldn't even allow an offer. Wouldn't sell an item in his own shop because he couldn't read the tag. Nice store with reasonable prices. Lots of old metal door knobs, hinges, hand tools, farm implements, and other industrial pieces. Old glass medicinal bottles and food stuffs containers. Some furniture, mostly small pieces. Would recommend. read more
