I have a degree in Interior Design and way back when...not long out of art school at all, IKEA was my first design-related job. I got hired to work at the Pittsburgh location which is actually in Robinson Township very close to the Pittsburgh International Airport. My room sections were bedrooms, in which I was responsible for the design and layout, executing it all myself. So now, let's talk about IKEA. I am a huge fan and have been since prior to their expansion into the U.S. market. As a student, I had access to materials for furniture and decor from all over the world. And of course, when I was just starting out with my first apartment, everything was IKEA from top to bottom. All of the stores pretty much have the same setup (there may be one or two small differences). What it boils down to for me is the availability of items, i.e., do they have what I want in stock? These days, I am more of an accessories shopper or having lunch at the cafe, and stocking up on those sweet, sweet Swedish goodies. This location has everything I need and want anytime I swing by. The value and pricing IKEA has always been known for are still there, though they too have seen increases over the years. And even though it is a self-service concept, employees are always available to assist and are happy to do so. IKEA & this location get an A+ from me. read more

LOVE IKEA, such a great place. Popped in to specifically get new kitchen towels, 4 for $5.99 and they finally got a new pattern in stock. I use the frequently and they are very sustainable, reusable and hold up great. I just washed them and the black/white ones were the only ones to shrink up a bit. Otherwise, all look great. Decent place. Depending on when you go, can get busy. Recently came in to get a bistro patio table bc I wanted to downsize my patio furniture. Sturdy and a good price considering everywhere I looked for a bistro table was way more expensive. Went in on a Sunday evening, barely anyone there. Mega easy checkout. Also really appreciate the computers in the warehouse that help you find exactly where you should be looking. Found it lickidy split. This was the weekend of wonderment for me! It started out at the farmer's market and I ended the weekend at IKEA. After my Yelp friend finished lunch, we decided to head over to IKEA. Let me just say, I have not been to IKEA in 15-20 years...love the store but we were living out of state for at least 10 years. When we walked in I was immediately mesmerized by all the displays. These displays were well designed with the color scheme deftly coordinated. IKEA has everything...I mean everything! We were not in the store very long, however, we went through a number of departments (fake flowers and plants, real plants, linen, towels, kitchen wear, storage boxes, etc.) You get the picture. My friend was looking for a desk mat and kitchen towels, which she found. She was also looking for bath towels, which she did not find. I was just along for the ride. However, those kitchen towels were such a good deal, I bought some also. The prices at IKEA are extremely good. A new area for me was the self-serve area. This area was definitely not there the last time I shopped at IKEA. It looks like a huge warehouse with lots of items. Quite honestly, it was a little overwhelming. Ikea is a whole event. Plan to spend the better part of your day there, like it or not. The floorplan is a ridiculous maze that promises shortcuts that somehow cause you to make the same loop approximately eight times before finding the exit, this causing you to start again because you failed to find the thing you came for. It's great exercise though, especially on hit or cold days when it sucks to go for long walks outside. You will get your steps in, and then some. Sign up for the free Ikea Family card to get complimentary hot coffee on every visit, and don't you dare leave without a downing a crazy cheap vegan hotdogs, which are honestly infuriatingly delicious. The only IKEA for miles, but that's the norm. I haven't been in years, and went for lunch today. I was excited for my husband to FINALLY try the meatballs-- but we were both pretty disappointed. I don't know what happened to the food, but the meatballs were shriveled and a little bit sad. A giant $14 candle we bought was already broken in the package but we found out until we got home. I hate shopping at ikea. It's a maze. You are forced to go through every showroom even when you have no interest in them. Oh sure they have "shortcuts" but good luck finding them. One day a fire will break out and people will die because they can't find the exits. Lawsuits will be expensive. Having said that, I did spend $800 on some office cabinets and desks. The items are well designed in Sweden and perfectly manufactured in Germany and Lithuania. They were fairly easy to assemble. The instructions were decent. I would rather have an ikea product any day of the week instead of a Wayfair product. The assembly and instructions as well as the workmanship far exceed Wayfair. Fix your showrooms. I know there is a love/hate relationship with Ikea for many, which is understandable. When I lived in Sicily, this place was/is considered the Walmart of Europe. While I wouldn't build my house with Ikea ANYTHING, some items from this chain are acceptable. I built my closet with Ikea pieces for a fraction of the price that places like California Closets would have charged me. I purchased the PAX system to accommodate my needs. There are many options that can be put together with this model/style. This can be purchased in store or online but you must have your measurements for your space. I initially went into the store to purchase the units I required so I can see the units in person. This was an epic fail as the design machine at Ikea was down the day I went. I elected to go home and design and purchase the unit online. The pieces for my unit were delivered to my home within a period of a few weeks. I order mine with lighting. For those of you who are not good with electrical work, an Electrician may be required. I am happy with my closet and would purchase this system again. read more

I stopped into the IKEA and ate at the food court recently when we needed to return a dresser. I did the whole IKEA experience from starting at the front of the store and going through the whole maze. Ikea furniture is very unique and different from American furniture. To me I think it's a little overpriced for the quality that you get. The food court is nice and the prices are reasonable for what you get. I highly recommend the swedish meatballs and it is their signature dish. The cheesecake was also delicious. If you are at IKEA and have worked up an appetite to get the full IKEA experience I recommend eating at their food court for a delicious meal. read more

We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon to get inspiration for an empty room in our house. We decided to go to the café and share an 8 Swedish meatball meal, ordering was easy and fast. The gravy was flavorful and the meatballs were tender. The plain peas were good as plain peas get. The mashed potatoes were underwhelming considering I've gotten more flavorful and more textured powered mashed potatoes from the grocery store. Ikea is great! This one is clean and the store area is organized. I've found the warehouse sections the furniture is supposed to be in isn't always accurate. It'll be around the designated aisle but it takes some time to find the items. The food court workers were also very helpful and informative. I asked if the hotdog was began and they said it should be but the allergen info said contains eggs and they couldn't see any eggs listed in the ingredients but let me know about the discrepancy to make a decision. THE BLACK AND WHITE: Love coming to Ikea and since everything is bigger in Texas, so is the Ikea. No 2 levels here, everything is 1 story so you just keep walking and walking. My fiance and I come here regularly to get inspiration for decorating a room. The furniture are priced on the cheaper end and they do feel like it too, but it's affordable! As-Is section is near when you check out, highly suggest checking it out for some great discounts. Also live plants are sold here! I love this place. We went on a "just browsing" trip this time around. Lots of things to look at for your house/apartment/living quarters from dustpans to furniture for an entire bedroom and kitchen!!! I just love how the entire space is laid out and they have shortcuts and arrow to direct you if you ever get lost :P Everything is reasonably priced in here. Would not recommend the location. We live far away and so naturally make a family trip out of it, do some big shopping, eat there and spend a lot of money. The store and shopping experience was good - BUT to my disappointment, the cafeteria was horrible. I never expected this from such an ikea. We ate at 2:30 pm. The food was good. The cleanliness was a disaster. We cleaned and wiped down our own table. Food and trash everywhere. One small family decided to eat in the lounge area on the floor as it was cleaner. And I don't think it was a lack of employees. Everywhere you looked, there was an abundance of employees. We were even helped throughout the store. I think for our next trip we'll just shop there and eat somewhere else nicer. For that matter, we can just order online and not even have to go to this store anymore. Yuck. I'm currently waiting in line to order delivery for a couch. It took 50 minutes and 3 employees to order it, because the system and the backup system failed and they were unable to select a delivery option. I waited while each employee tried the same troubleshooting steps and asked for all my information again each time. Finally they gave up and said I can pay for it and then head to another kiosk to set up delivery. The cashier forgot to apply the IKEA family discount and I just barely caught it in time before she charged my card. It was about $150 off the price and that information just got lost between the 3 employees trying to figure out what was going on. Finally, the delivery center gave me a piece of paper to write the delivery info on, since all the computer systems were still rejecting the delivery. Hopefully I'll be out of here soon. UPDATE: it took a total of 1 hour and 30 minutes. Now today, it turns out they got the delivery date wrong, and I'm currently on hold trying to get it fixed. Went exploring at the adult playground called IKEA located in Round Rock. Thoroughly enjoyed this location because it's surrounded by many shops and large parking lots allowing a freedom to roam around the shops in the area. I also like this IKEA because The layout is one level so you don't have to climb or descend any stairs. Upon entering, I do appreciate the welcoming smiles of the greeter in the foyer. I think this is a nice level of service coming in from the parking lot. Those of you who enjoy IKEA like I do, I like the sections of rooms that are laid out like mini living rooms or bedrooms or kitchens while exploring the store. I feel the price is fair or better because you don't have to deal with packaging in most cases. My favorite part of wandering through IKEA is stumbling upon their food court. They serve all which you can buy down in the exit, but my favorite is the meatballs and fresh veggies. It's a healthy meal and many times we just go for the food. read more

Ordered 6 cases of glasses. First order I got delivered to a faster location and it still took 3 weeks, and glasses show up broken. Upon inspection I noticed no packing materials, except on one side. Even the bottom was open and not taped. So I went online and they sent to my requested address ( my billing address) I get that package three weeks letter. Upon inspection they are broke as well. We refuse them and send them back. Never hear a single work from IKEA. When I goto chat I have some guy tells me that they can't ship to my same address and says they will ship to an address that is not mine. He argues with me for a long time and says if I don't like it I can ask for a refund and reorder the glasses. Talk about the worse customer service ever. This is always a fun place to visit and to get my walking done. There is a parking garage so can park in the shade and always felt safe here. Walked towards the entrance along a massive row of loading zones almost felt like you are at the airport. I saw people stressed out trying to load a bunch of stuff into their vehicle. When I entered my wife quickly grabs a shopping cart where felt nervous since only came here to see what's new not take home a bunch of stuff, and a IKEA greeter gave me a big blue bag for small items. I saw a day care for kids to play in. Like any IKEA the whole store is on a yellow brick road where you weave around visiting many lands, and end up not in Oz but huge warehouse with extremely long lines to checkout. There are hidden shortcuts and used them to get to the core of this place which is a restaurant. This is where my wife's shopping cart started to collect items mostly for holiday gifts. All the products are international mostly from Europe which is really cool where can feel European in Texas with Swedish products like coffee, cookies and chocolate. At the exit there is a mini grocery store and deli containing more Swedish items. The big hit here is the Swedish meatballs but did not have them on this visit, but they are good. The overall prices on items are very affordable which I noticed other shoppers were over buying. The checking process was maddening where much different from a grocery store, but I survived. From all this I truly got my weekly exercise from walking inside this huge building and probably be back a few months from now. read more

I ordered countertops and a sink from Ikea, and they failed horribly and destroyed my kitchen. Do NOT use Ikea installation services! You will regret it. The installer irreparably damaged the countertops before installation by dry cutting the countertop. He also covered my yard and garden in toxic quartz dust. The sink started MOVING eight months after installation! I reported this debacle two months, and there is still no path forward. NEVER USE IKEA FOR INSTALLATIONS!!!!! read more

PROS: (1) MASSIVE. There's more furniture and furnishings here than any other kind of store, period. (2) DISPLAYS. They have real-life mockups of entire small apartments with all the the furnishings, showing the total square feet, itemized item cost, and total cost. Who else does that? (3) ASSEMBLABLE. Most everything they sell is intended to be assembled by the customer. That means you can get most of what they sell into your car, without needing a truck. (4) FOOD. They offer a lot af specialty frozen food, much of it vegan. We always get several bags of the veggie meatballs. (5) CAFETERIA onsite. Makes sense, because you could spend all day here. CONS: (1) OVERWHELMING. It's massive. You'll do a lot of walking. The set up is that you see the furniture display on the display side of the store, take a pic of the tag for the item(s) you want, then you walk to the warehouse and find your item(s) on the shelves. It's not always easy. I don't know how they can make the process better, it just seems like it's the nature of the beast. read more

Oh IKEA how I appreciate you being so close to Austin proper so that I can continue to make my apartment life so aesthetically pleasing all while being still affordable. I also appreciate how safe it is to shop around this Round Rock location as all of the signage, stations with napkins and hand sanitizer, and extra masks to offer for any who forgot or need a new one. Don't forget to turn on your workout mode on your fitness watch before you get to walking the store. You will easily do 1-2 miles after you are done shopping here for sure! Since COVID inventory here can be hit or miss but with the IKEA website and app you should be able to figure out if you can find that cool dresser you have been eyeing is in stock or not. If you are not sure just ask an IKEA employee or go to the simple, clean, and with sanitizing wipes right next to it kiosk to look up your item(s). Before you check out be sure to go look at the Last Call area where you can find some bargain items for cheap that are either out of their package, repackaged, most times assembled, or have a slight imperfection. Definitely worth browsing as I have bought some great steals in this section including chairs, dining tables, etc. Parking can be a challenge to find a good spot on the weekends only as it gets really busy. Do not worry though, when you are ready to load your car, there are over a dozen parking spots in the front to load your stuff in. There is even rope in boxes near these parking spaces to help you secure your things before you drive out. Lots of other shopping, eating out, and browsing can be done in the same shopping center as where this IKEA sits if you got the energy! read more
