I love this IKEA store but not a fan of the food at all. First time I had eaten here was back in 2018. It was such bland food that I didn't even try again until today. I was desperate for food and happen to be in IKEA, so it was my only option. Surprisingly I got some ones this time. Chicken tenders, fries, peas were actually pretty good. But the mac & cheese was so tasteless. There was only one server and one cashier, during peak dinner time, causing a huge line at ordering and at checkout. Food hall is pretty nice, lot of spots available. IKEA put some of its own lamps, lights and furniture to highlight their own products. Utensils and condominiums are in common area. But the sauce station was a mess. Some ketchup pumps were broken. Soda fountain was under maintained too.

Self service restaurant. Get a tray and tell the person what you need. Pretty much everything is pre cooked. Chicken tenders are pretty good. Big dining area.

IKEA's iconic Swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes, vegetable and lingonberry plus 2 unneeded Swedish flags that go straight to the bin

IKEA provides the quintessential comfort food with their Swedish meatballs plate - as you'll note I ordered 16! The lingonberry really completes it! Nevertheless, I really don't buy into IKEA's claim on making sure everything is sustainable when they stick two unnecessary functionless paper Swedish flags on top that go straight to the garbage! Hej, IKEA - If you want to convey that it's Swedish either print the flag on the plate or find some other way that doesn't just create wasteful garbage! And, no one can convince me those flags with food debris are recycled! Do you put silly flags like that in IKEA in Sweden? Or just add to the garbage piles in other countries? Drop the flags and cut the price of the plate by the lower cost, e.g., 50 cents! #notsustainable

Went back for the first time post-pandemic, and yes, they'd dressed up the place a bit, new seating, new tables, a bit mores pace between things. Fancy coffee options but now less hot food available at the center and more bags of chips, etc. there while you can request from the back. It's $12 for a meatball meal now.... inflation? Heck, pretty sure that's more than 50% more expensive from my recollection with worse sides. Came with peas...cheap veggies, and no more good mix like before with the squash and carrots mix. While the veggie disks were still good, they are now $3.50 for two of them... ouch. They were both half as big as before. So what was a $8-10 meal maybe beforehand total ended up being $16 on the way through....

SCOLDING ALERT. Not going to beat around the bush, but this location's restaurant customer service has gone straight to h-e-l-l in a hand basket. The service is an absolute (insert your own word aka "crap") show and atrocious here. The employees behind the counter serving the food are ALL rude and don't seem to care anymore. OK, maybe not all of them are rude because 1-2 of them were actually nice, but 99% of them always are. We've only had 1 cashier and 2 servers that were ever pleasant. Not only do a majority of the employees serve food with an attitude, which we have encountered on multiple occasions, but the serving sizes of the plates just keep getting SMALLER and SMALLER with each successive trip. We thought going to an Ikea in the suburbs would be a better experience, but we were dead wrong. Every time that we came here to dine in 2022, there was always something wrong. We had a food server get annoyed at us for ordering 3 entrees, we had food servers who reluctantly gave extra gravy on our food after we made the request, we had cashiers ring up items all wrong, utensils would all be missing, there would be no condiments. The list goes on and on. The food quality has been mostly the same, however, the chicken tenders keep changing from the crunchy version to the non-crunchy version and then back. Like Forrest Gump said "You never know what you're going to get". However, the bigger gripe we have had over the last year is the inconsistent servings of food. Sometimes, the servers barely give a side with the entrees and, if you ask for a bit more, they will stare you down like you just asked for the keys to their house. You can literally count the number of fries some servers give or if they give mashed potatoes the serving is so small that you could eat it in 1 bite! Now that's a pretty sad side dish. We've even filed a complaint with the restaurant manager, but chances are that she pretended like she cared about our grievances and then thought we were cray cray. Yes, we do still come here from time to time because our kids love the food, but it's definitely less frequent than it used to be. This Ikea restaurant is a sad state of affairs and I'm afraid it will never get better. P.S. Chances are that the service is better on weekdays than it is on Saturdays because when it is less busy, the employees face less pressure.

Yesterday I went to IKEA to buy a replacement saucepan for cheap. In the past, I'd usually hit up the Elizabeth location since that was the one closer to me. This time around, I decided to check out the Paramus location after work and, while there, pop into the IKEA Restaurant. While it doesn't have views of airplanes flying in and out of EWR, I thought this IKEA Restaurant had a nicer layout, was cleaner, and felt more open with the high ceilings. It seemed understaffed when we got there, but the two people at the food serving station and the one cashier were friendly and polite. I haven't eaten at IKEA since before the pandemic, so I went with the classic Swedish meatballs. Mashed potatoes were being replenished, so I got fries instead. Food was good. Even my partner liked the plant balls with pumpkin sauce and cauliflower rice (we even bought a bag of frozen Huvudroll for home). In short: It's a nice cafeteria. I liked it.

Came here after visiting the zoo nearby. The place was not so crowded as I expected. The meatballs are standard but I wished that I could got the fries instead of mashed potatoes. My son finished the whole plate of mac and cheese. He also loved the lingonberry sauce.

I haven't had Ikea meal for a long time so I decided to try it again. The meatballs are soft and not too salty. I was she's they served it hot though. Everything is just barely warm. The peas tasted like plastic.

Our toddler used to love going to Ikea but he didn't care for it today. We just went around once and decided to eat. This is the Swedish Bistro by the marketplace not the restaurant by the the showroom. And we much preferred this one. Ordering is easy, you just use the touchscreen. Everything we ordered was pretty good and fresh. I liked the blueberry scone a lot. It's not gourmet but it's pretty good. It's a good place for little snacks or a light meal. They have chairs and table for you to rest your feet. 4 stars not because it is superb but it is good for what it is.

Average food.. low cost, and few items are good.. I generally avoid eating fried items here.. i generally love the cakes/pastries etc... free coffee is ok, but too watery.. weekends is crazy with long wait time.. try going on weekdays, and you will like the experience.. overall, average food , but for a quick bite.. billing can be faster too..

I lovee their meatballs dish and was excited to get some after a long time of not having it. I was quite disappointed to see that the price went up so much! It was $8 for a plate of meatballs and some sides. I opted for the kids meal instead since I wasn't as hungry and that was cheaper ~$4. Taste wise, it's the same, but what I loved about IKEA was how cheap the food was - not anymore I guess

    Bennett L.

Food: got an order of meatballs with a slice of chocolate cake. The meatballs came with string beans and mashed potatoes. The meatballs tasted pretty good, mashed potatoes were fine, and the string beans were a little stale. The chocolate cake was good; not too sweet and had a nice soft texture. Service/environment: you get in line to get your food and pay (cafeteria style). The area itself is pretty clean and minimalist Price: the price is probably one of the most attractive parts of the food. You could definitely eat a large quantity without draining your wallet. Overall: great place to come to after a long time of shopping around or if you want some cheap food.

    Savitrie L.

The food was amazing and delicious. First time at the ikea Food Court, and I will definitely try again before shopping. The portion side was good. it could've been a little more, but it was just right. Swedish meatball was good, was the sauce! The dessert was very good. Almond caramel cake would've been a great pairing with coffee, but it was a crisp cold Coca-Cola on the side to wash it down.

    Chicken Tender w. Fries: $4.99 | Meatballs w. Mashed Potatoes/Lentils/Veggies: $2.99 | Chocolate Overload Cake: $2.99

No flashy signs or neon lighting; the name of the restaurant is simply painted on the side of the building, but hidden a bit by the umbrellas and outdoor seating. The vibe inside is chill. Tonight's playlist included Sza, Clairo, and Kali Uchis. Everyone in the restaurant appeared to be in their 20s and 30s. There was one waiter who also served as the host and bartender. Additional staff was preparing food in the back. The interior of Smør is small. It's like a café. There were three booths for four people each, three small metal tables for two people each, and the bar could seat four people on stools. We had a reservation for 6:30 pm. Several people came by and inquired about eating inside, but all that was left was exterior seating. I ordered the Danish hot dog. The remoulade was light and tasty, the onions were crunchy, and the pickles were fresh, but not sour. The hot dog had a great snap and the bread tasted homemade. Wonderful textures going on with this. I'd get it again. My husband got the Swedish meatballs. He said it was exactly what he wanted it to be. A great dish for a winter evening. The pancakes are amazing. Swimming in butter and topped with whipped cream and lingonberry sauce. The best thing I've tasted this month. Our choices were their Artisanal smoked, Pastrami Cured smoked, Togarashi smoked, and Norwegian smoked. The condiments were a mustard and dill sauce. The salmon was melt in your mouth good! So good, you didn't need the sauces. We did taste both and liked the mustard. Didn't use much of it though. The winner was the Norwegian smoked for both of us and for me, the Togarashi and Pastrami Cured were tied at 2nd. The two people behind the counter were great! Definitely one of my most memorable bites of the year. I love that the kitchen is just beyond some huge glass panes so I could see the movement and mastery (at a distance) before me. Our meal was maybe 3 hours which was perfect because we were able to amble here after watching a taping of the late show with stephen colbert and then run out to meet some friends at midtown. The little containers of sea salt they left us with were also so cute. Unfortunately my bf was still a little hungry but i was feeling great after the meal. The only thing that irked me was just a silly little fly that just kept buzzing around me the entire time we were there.

My husband and I have been feeling a bit of Europe withdrawal lately, and Aska absolutely hit the spot. The ambiance, the precision, and the thoughtful pacing all brought us right back to the kind of refined dining experiences we've missed. The tasting menu was comprehensive and beautifully curated. Each course felt intentional and distinctive, yet the progression never felt overwhelming. While the meal wasn't rushed, it also didn't drag on endlessly -- the pacing struck that perfect balance, allowing us to savor each dish without fatigue. You'll enjoy the minimalistic chic decor, the open kitchen, the excellent service, and of course the food. Let's talk about that last part since you're going to spend a pretty penny if you go here. Like all tasting menus, there will be some variance although certainly there are some dishes that often are the "star" of the proverbial show. I'm not going to mention everything, but here is what stood out: Sea Oak: This is the first item we received, and it kind of looks like a colorful edible twig. There were purple and yellow hues and true to its name it tasted like a fresh dip in the sea. Apparently, they use algae and blue mussels to make this dish. It's fun and creative and a great start to your meal. Caviar: This one looked like a dark cupcake with the base made from kingfish and eel while the top was absolutely overflowing in what was clearly a super high end caviar (certainly memorable at least to me). This was a stunning visual with extraordinary taste. Claw: This dish looks nothing like a claw. Instead, rounded wheels resembling lotus root are flavored with rose and berry. Gently stuffed inside you will find langoustine claw meat. This had really strong Indian flavors and was highly enjoyable. Custard: This was like the Nordic version of chawanmushi except this savory custard was dollops of trout roe, seaweed, and exhibits a strong seafood broth flavor. Hake: This was the best preparation I've ever had of the fish. The sauce is somewhat indescribable to me, and yet what really stood out is the absolute perfect texture of the fish. The restaurant is fairly well know for their hake and it's easy to see why. Quail and Venison: Both of these dishes were well prepared meats that actually served as perfect boats for the incredible mushrooms accompanying both meats. After eating this dish, I could see why Aska is confident enough to boast a full vegetarian tasting menu. Those mushrooms were among the best items of this entire meal. Pear: I really hope they keep this on because this light pear dish accented with cardamom and copious amounts of butter was an absolute delight. Again, the dish exhibited relatively strong Indian flavors and may have been my favorite dish of the entire evening. Why not five stars? At this price point, I would expect every dish to hit and there were a couple that just didn't for me (not too many but a couple). It was probably a bit too seafood heavy for me and I think I prefer omakase if I'm going that route. I will say that the tasting menu, the service, and atmosphere are all wonderful and a worthy overall experience. I'm definitely glad I was able to visit.
