IKEA lunch not as cheap as it used to be -haven't been here for many years-I never really liked the food they served. But figured i try buffalo chicken wrap spicy very spicy. The best are the Swedish meatballs-peas-and mashed potatoes. My mother-in-law had the salmon salad-but it only had one thin slice of salmon over a bunch of mixed greens and potato salad . Their food court situated on the top floor consisted of a restaurant both serving a variety of American and Swedish-inspired meals, sweets, and drinks. We decided on the Swedish meatball meal, plant-based balls meal, and small garden salad.   The meal came with lingonberry jam, whose flavors were pretty similar to something one's find on Thanksgiving, as well as peas and mashed potatoes. Their iconic Swedish meatballs were made from all-natural ingredients like pork, beef, onions, and allspice, all of which work together to offer a cozy tasteful profile that blended with the classic gravy. The plant balls were made with ingredients like pea protein, oats, potatoes, and apples and seasonings such as mushrooms, tomatoes, and roasted veggies. They were likely pushing towards a more similar taste to the Swedish meatballs.   They were tasty, hit the spot with a reasonable price and great portion.   We were lucky our location carried the frozen version, which we took a bag of the plant-based balls home and indulged in any time we wanted. read more

I love this IKEA store but not a fan of the food at all. First time I had eaten here was back in 2018. It was such bland food that I didn't even try again until today. I was desperate for food and happen to be in IKEA, so it was my only option. Surprisingly I got some ones this time. Chicken tenders, fries, peas were actually pretty good. But the mac & cheese was so tasteless. There was only one server and one cashier, during peak dinner time, causing a huge line at ordering and at checkout. Food hall is pretty nice, lot of spots available. IKEA put some of its own lamps, lights and furniture to highlight their own products. Utensils and condominiums are in common area. But the sauce station was a mess. Some ketchup pumps were broken. Soda fountain was under maintained too. read more

Nevertheless, I really don't buy into IKEA's claim on making sure everything is sustainable when they stick two unnecessary functionless paper Swedish flags on top that go straight to the garbage! Hej, IKEA - If you want to convey that it's Swedish either print the flag on the plate or find some other way that doesn't just create wasteful garbage! And, no one can convince me those flags with food debris are recycled! Do you put silly flags like that in IKEA in Sweden? Or just add to the garbage piles in other countries? Fancy coffee options but now less hot food available at the center and more bags of chips, etc. there while you can request from the back. It's $12 for a meatball meal now.... inflation? Heck, pretty sure that's more than 50% more expensive from my recollection with worse sides. Came with peas...cheap veggies, and no more good mix like before with the squash and carrots mix. While the veggie disks were still good, they are now $3.50 for two of them... ouch. They were both half as big as before. So what was a $8-10 meal maybe beforehand total ended up being $16 on the way through.... read more

SCOLDING ALERT. Not going to beat around the bush, but this location's restaurant customer service has gone straight to h-e-l-l in a hand basket. The service is an absolute (insert your own word aka "crap") show and atrocious here. The employees behind the counter serving the food are ALL rude and don't seem to care anymore. OK, maybe not all of them are rude because 1-2 of them were actually nice, but 99% of them always are. We've only had 1 cashier and 2 servers that were ever pleasant. Not only do a majority of the employees serve food with an attitude, which we have encountered on multiple occasions, but the serving sizes of the plates just keep getting SMALLER and SMALLER with each successive trip. We thought going to an Ikea in the suburbs would be a better experience, but we were dead wrong. Every time that we came here to dine in 2022, there was always something wrong. We had a food server get annoyed at us for ordering 3 entrees, we had food servers who reluctantly gave extra gravy on our food after we made the request, we had cashiers ring up items all wrong, utensils would all be missing, there would be no condiments. The list goes on and on. The food quality has been mostly the same, however, the chicken tenders keep changing from the crunchy version to the non-crunchy version and then back. Like Forrest Gump said "You never know what you're going to get". However, the bigger gripe we have had over the last year is the inconsistent servings of food. Sometimes, the servers barely give a side with the entrees and, if you ask for a bit more, they will stare you down like you just asked for the keys to their house. You can literally count the number of fries some servers give or if they give mashed potatoes the serving is so small that you could eat it in 1 bite! Now that's a pretty sad side dish. We've even filed a complaint with the restaurant manager, but chances are that she pretended like she cared about our grievances and then thought we were cray cray. Yes, we do still come here from time to time because our kids love the food, but it's definitely less frequent than it used to be. This Ikea restaurant is a sad state of affairs and I'm afraid it will never get better. P.S. Chances are that the service is better on weekdays than it is on Saturdays because when it is less busy, the employees face less pressure. read more

Yesterday I went to IKEA to buy a replacement saucepan for cheap. In the past, I'd usually hit up the Elizabeth location since that was the one closer to me. This time around, I decided to check out the Paramus location after work and, while there, pop into the IKEA Restaurant. While it doesn't have views of airplanes flying in and out of EWR, I thought this IKEA Restaurant had a nicer layout, was cleaner, and felt more open with the high ceilings. It seemed understaffed when we got there, but the two people at the food serving station and the one cashier were friendly and polite. I haven't eaten at IKEA since before the pandemic, so I went with the classic Swedish meatballs. Mashed potatoes were being replenished, so I got fries instead. Food was good. Even my partner liked the plant balls with pumpkin sauce and cauliflower rice (we even bought a bag of frozen Huvudroll for home). In short: It's a nice cafeteria. I liked it. read more

Our toddler used to love going to Ikea but he didn't care for it today. We just went around once and decided to eat. This is the Swedish Bistro by the marketplace not the restaurant by the the showroom. And we much preferred this one. Ordering is easy, you just use the touchscreen. Everything we ordered was pretty good and fresh. I liked the blueberry scone a lot. It's not gourmet but it's pretty good. It's a good place for little snacks or a light meal. I love Ikea not only because it's nice to walk around without anyone hounding you to buy anything but because of the space and workers. Honestly this review is for the two women who served us the food at the dining area. One woman is lighter than the other has glasses, and she's very funny. She was so nice and joyful, despite people dropping their food everywhere or not knowing what to order. And the other woman is darker taller and had just started working there last week. Or so I overheard by being nosey lol. They are both delightful and fun. I kept laughing at everything they were saying, they smiled and made an interaction so small so memorable. The far more troublesome part to this Ikea caf experience is the lack of any noticeable system of moving customers through the line. I accept that the food is what it is, the problem the night I was there, was that there were eight people waiting in cue for hot food, and with SIX people working the hot food station, the line DID NOT MOVE. We waited for ten minutes, and when not one customer moved through the line, cut over to the refrigerated case and plucked out the pre-made salmon. Not good. read more

I really like this store, everything is nice and clean and the cafeteria style restaurant was nice too. Plenty of parking and easy to get in and out off the garage. The staff was also friendly in helping my cousin plan and design the kitchen cabinets and storage. The cafeteria upstairs serve pretty good food. The hot dogs and pizza were ehh.. but a good value. However this ikea gets docked a few stars because we waited over 2 hours for them to pick and pull the items we bought. Everyone was agitated and annoyed at the wait times. PROS: This has to be the best furniture store I've been too. They had several floors of merchandise that makes them look like Home Depot, and they had mock ups of dorm rooms and rooms you'd find in a home. Rude, unhelpful and uninterested staff. I'm not sure who manages this portion of IKEA but the customer service is horrendous. One of the employees serving food had a nasty attitude when I asked for side substitutions for the "veggie balls" (which I've had multiple times in the past). She abruptly said I couldn't do that and repeatedly replied with, "no" to everything I said without letting me finish - there was no explanation or any other suggestion given.. I really didn't want to hold up the line since this was clearly going nowhere so ended up just getting a water. And of course the cashier didn't even notice me, didn't scan my item and didn't hear me speaking to her because she was too busy watching videos on her phone. The Paramus restaurant was a bit lacking, but it may be that was because it was late. Everything seemed just a bit off. The man in front of us wanted chicken meatballs but there were only 3 left. A new batch was coming out in 5 minutes but he didn't want to wait. So he asked if he could have the 3 chicken meatballs and get the rest as regular meatballs. The two items are the same price. The server seemed confused and said he couldn't mix the two. Then he asked his co-worker, who said just wait for the chicken. The guy, exasperated, gave up and just said to give him a full serving of the regular meatballs. I almost wanted to say something to the servers.... As for our meals, you can't really go wrong with a $4.99 meal. But they were so skimpy on the veggies, I feel they could increase the veggie serving size. The balls were dry and a bit salty ($5.99). But the plus: under 500 calories. They also offer swedish meatballs which come with lingonberry sauce and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes tasted a bit stale, could have used more butter. Vegetables are your regular fare. To wash it down, had an apple cider ($2), a large can of dry cider that wasn't too sweet. Line moves a bit slow here and they were out of tries until I was almost at the end of the line. Prepare for a disappointment - the dining room has changed dramatically in the past few months. The overall area is still the same - plenty of white tables and chairs for you to dine at. But the food itself has become not worth it. We went from good food at a moderate price to obvious cost-cuts for the same price. I went to IKEA as soon as it opened at 9:30 am. At this time, only the 2nd floor was open and I needed to wait until 10 am for the main floor to open to get what I needed. In the 30 minutes that I had to wait, I decided to grab breakfast at the restaurant and was delightfully surprised. The restaurant is designed like a cafeteria: you grab a tray order, wait in line, and order whatever food you would like from the servers. You can also chose different beverages and side items that are mostly self-serve. The first thing that caught my attention was the prices. Everything was so affordable! I ordered the Swedish American Breakfast ($2), which included 2 chicken sausages, 2 pancakes, scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, along with garlic bread and a cup of coffee for less than $4. The scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes, and garlic bread were all standard and given in an adequate amount. The Swedish pancakes served with cranberry sauce were a great contrast from traditional American pancakes which are often very floury and served with syrup that is usually just high fructose corn syrup. The Swedish pancakes were more similar to crepes and the cranberry sauce had a nice sweet/ tart balance. The coffee was genuinely really good! They also had a machine were you could order lattes, expressos, etc. The service was also fantastic. The line seemed long in length but the servers were very quick and polite which made my waiting time short. All in all, you can't beat the price for decent food with great variety in a convenient location when you need a break from furniture shopping! read more

We had to search for a clean table to sit at and still had to wipe down one of the 'clean' ones. They have no-frills flat soda which they give you a dirty glass for. I observed the lady that was cleaning the bathroom come out and start cleaning the dinning area without changing her gloves. This was my first trip to Ikea, like, ever. I did not know they had a restaurantt! My fiancé and I had been walking a lot already and we got hungry. So we saw the restaurant and decided to check it out. Uhm their food is legit! It was very tasty and it had such great presentation as well. I got a salad and a soup. My Fiancé got chicken and mash potatoes. The service was good. The people behind the kitchen had patience in answering a few questions we had about the food. I think the food at ikea is pretty good considering the fact that it is in a furniture store. Do not underestimate it haha.
