Waiting in a huge long line for food at the ikea cafe on 07/27/2021, later on they opened the 2nd section of the cafe but let all the people at the back of the line go to that section - completely unfair to everyone else who was waiting patiently. Many of us were waiting over 25mins. They let everyone at the back skip the waitline. Ridiculous. Also beware that car theft and break-ins are common at the carpark even in the middle of the daytime. This is a fact and has happened to friends of mine. In addition to that, the majority of items are not in stock. Yes there has been a pandemic, but they "ikea" should have had their supply chain fixed by now. Waste of time coming here. read more

Lots of great looking stuff, but the showroom is abysmal to navigate through, and if you actually want anything, well good luck finding it. There's no staff anywhere to help, the app is of no use, and even if the website says something is available it doesn't mean that it is (as far as I know as I couldn't confirm with any staff, as they were unavailable). At the end of the day it's eye candy and you walk out with less than you hoped because these people don't seem to know how to sell things. The meatballs are good though. read more

So I appreciate IKEA generally. Some products are cheaply made, sure, but you can get some great finds sometimes. There aren't any IKEA locations near me (I've often gone to the store in PA when really needing something), really, so visiting the store in Renton was at least something. (I know their model is to bring people into the store, as opposed to shipping... but ugh) Though I still couldn't buy much for myself, since I wasn't going to take anything on the airplane back to Rochester with me. Still... my BFF has a new house, so it was time to explore the store! The IKEA Bistro, is, of course, a bonus feature of going to the store to shop. Yes, meatballs were purchased... and the winter vest my friend wore to the store event matched the meatball sauce (unintentional IKEA matching? Indeed). What kills me about going through the actual STORE is that you have to go through every... single... department... even those you don't remotely care about. It probably took us 2-2.5 hours to get to section 13 of 26 because the places where we DID intermittently want to stop and look at things were sprinkled among everything else. And if we wanted to go BACK and look at something from a department? We had to backtrack aaaaaaaall the way through the conveyor line of people to get there. Now, granted... I don't have a ton of experience with various IKEA store layouts, but folks have mentioned to me that this particular setup is somewhat new. The most painful part of getting through IKEA is getting to the registers and seeing the insane lines. Literally, the last thing I want to see after wandering around the store's "walkway-conveyor" for hours would be the lines at every single register. At least my BFF went and got us some frozen yogurt cones to enjoy while waiting in line (which I'm not sure you're supposed to do... but when it was probably a 45 minute wait to actually get to the cashier? Yeah, frozen yogurt cones are going to be enjoyed). By the time we actually DID get to the cashier, we realized that she was pretty unpleasant. *sigh* TL;DR IKEA is great for when you're a student, but then adulthood kicks in and you start questioning your choices when you come here to shop. The new layout takes forever to get through, checkout takes forever, and the cashiers aren't service-minded like, AT ALL. Definitely not in a rush to get back here... unless it's for the meatballs. read more

Had a chance to stop by to grab something quick. The store was open and there were signs at the front about social distancing and wearing masks. There was even a person at the entrance with extra masks and sanitizer. The food area and kids drop off area are still closed. There's a little kids area with a train set right as you get off the escalator to the second floor show room. Nice thought but no signs about not touching the area or sanitizer for any kids that might want to play. The bathrooms had sinks blocked off for distancing. They still sale food, but everything must be eaten outside the store. And the furniture are still pretty close so hard to avoid people moving around behind. It's always nice to visit IKEA whenever we have the chance. There are so many organization ideas to be had that you probably wouldn't think of without seeing it first hand in one of the staged flats. We definitely prefer not to be there on the weekend, however it didn't work out that way with our schedule. We spent a couple of hours in IKEA this trip, taking our time checking things out. Lots of ideas were taken home and we received excellent customer from everyone. We arrived prior to the store opening, however they allow you to go upstairs and walk through about half a dozen of the staged flats/apartments/rooms, prior to the rest of the store being opened. One gentleman upstairs assisted us in finding a wall shelf that had no signage on it. We didn't know the name or price of it and he managed to find it on the computer. To top it off, we had dimensions and weight of the boxes to ensure we could check them with the airline. It worked out perfectly to tape the two boxes together and check them as a single oversized piece of luggage. Before heading downstairs for the second round of shopping, we stopped in the cafe for a bite to eat, which I've written a separate review for as well. One minor gripe was once you get downstairs towards the registers, people just pile up in front of the registers that happen to line up in front of the main aisle, rather than moving to the left and right registers. It would be helpful if the staff would assist in moving people around to get around this hiccup. We made our way through the lines, which took about 25 minutes and unfortunately just puts a bit of a damper on the experience. Once we did get to the register, the lovely cashier didn't hesitate to fill out the quick paperwork for being tax exempt for being Alaskan residents. That's a nice perk for those of us who don't have sales tax and are taking our purchase back home. All in all, a good trip and we came home with some goodies for the house! read more

This is a fun store to browse and get ideas on how to maximize your small space to have fun and modern furniture with space saving features. My favorite part of the store is the small space models that show how it feels to be a 200, 300, and even 580 square foot apartment. There is also many models of the real furniture and how you can customize it whether it by color or fabric. Since COVID started, they had a lot more contact less options starting with the bathrooms where they have motion sensor soap and paper towels. In the front of the store, they have a hand sanitizer spot. They also opened up the cafeteria and have a to go options as well as a cute meatball bar where you can pay $2 for 4 meatballs to go near the exit. There is the restaurant on the second floor that you can sit and eat. However, I wished they marked or took away every other table because having someone sit behind you without a mask is very uncomfortable. I tried the Swedish meatball plate for $7 and it came with broiled broccoli, mashed potato, 8 pieces of meatball with gravy and fruit sauce. The gravy over the meatballs were good, but when you paired it with the fruit sauce, the sweetness in the sauce elevated the flavor profile so you have sweet savory experience going on. There is a lot of uncovered parking at the front and there is a shaded parking lot as well. There's nothing special about this particular IKEA as it's pretty standard. The prices are great but still good quality. I always love the showrooms and imagining my life as I walk through the store. I could really stay here and walk around for hours and not get anything. And of course you can't forget about those Swedish meatballs and the cinnamon buns! I came here during COVID and they were really good with social distancing. There were workers who managed the lines and gave directions on what to do before walking in the store. They had hand sanitizers throughout the entire store and even had workers passing out carts that were wiped. They also won't let you in unless you have a mask on which is nice! read more

I've bought several furniture items from IKEA in the past and liked how they had a good selection of inexpensive furniture you could build yourself. I recently had a bad experience and I don't think I will buy from IKEA again. In the past IKEA furniture had decent assembly instructions but when I bought a computer desk a few weeks ago the assembly instructions were terrible and I could not figure out how to build the thing. Parts were not labeled, and a few parts looked the same so you could easily put the wrong part in the wrong spot. If you did make a mistake there was no fixing it, once the parts were together they would not separate. They also put all the screws in one pouch and again some of the screws looked the same so you could easily use the wrong screw. They didn't give me enough screws and some parts had to have a screw or two less than what the instructions showed. I had a much easier time building Target furniture because the parts were labeled and the screws were in a few different pouches so there was no question what screw was for what. I also ordered a piece of furniture and set the delivery date for my day off. Despite ordering weeks in advance the furniture arrived days late. I received an email saying stay at home to sign for it, it will be at you're door any minute and it didn't arrive until several hours later. read more

Reading all these reviews I'm amazed at how lost people can be. Navigating this place used to be worse prior to their overhaul renovation. The parking lot is a lot larger and accommodating now, while inside the store there's a lot more shortcuts to get from point A to B faster. The showroom and cafeteria are upstairs while the shopping area, warehouse, children's play center and cafe area are on the main level. Who doesn't love relatively cheap IKEA home goods and furniture, although some things are outrageously overpriced for the shoddy quality. The stock of items is usually abundant and I've never had an issue locating things in the warehouse. The weekends are hectic with tons of lines everywhere; at the checkout, cafeteria, and cafe. They really need to invest into a self checkout area. Oh and good luck in waiting if you ever want to return an item at customer service. You also can't deny partaking in everyone's guilty pleasure when it comes to visiting the cafeteria for hot food or the cafe for a quick hotdog and froyo cone. read more

I went to IKEA to return one item and bought one item on a Tuesday morning. Totally cost 2.5 hours. Part 1, Return The return department needs a lot of improvement. I came on a Tuesday morning around 1045, but still wait about 30mins in return with a just a single item. I have to say the whole system worked pretty well. But my concern is IKEA should hire more people in return department. There are 4 counters opened, with totally10 clients.But I still wait for a pretty long time. And only one counter actually moving. The labeling and storage process can be separated. Part 2, Checkout After finishing the maze, I finally came to the checkout. And starting another nightmare. There are 29 checkout there, but they only opened 3! Speechless... If you want to date a girl and do not want to leave soon. You can take her to IKEA! Then you guys can spend at least 2 hours here. There are 2 kinds of people in this world: those who love exploring Ikea and those who don't. The Renton location is standard: there's a cafe that features the little meatballs, numerous showrooms you can explore (with the shortcut signs ofc), the self serve section, and the dreaded returns area. However, the Renton Ikea has just CHANGED THE GAME for returning items at Ikea. You can now check out what the line is like from a website (see my photo) BEFORE you get to the store. Additionally, you now add yourself to the list via your phone which allows Ikea to send you a text to alert you when it's about your turn. This allows you to walk around the store and shop, go to the cafe, or even sit in your car if you don't want to deal with the masses. It's awesome. They also have WiFi available for Ikea family members (free to sign up) which was perfect for my husband and I to watch football in the cafe while we waited for our turn. read more

Grrrr I was so mad I had to wait a couple of hours to write this review. I drove to IKEA which is not close to me at all, to buy some more bamboo style kitchen drawer dividers. I also needed to return other plastic dividers that did not work on my new kitchen. As soon as I arrived, I put my name on the list for returns and I though: "this is a great system, I can walk through the maze that it is IKEA and quickly grab what I need, while I move up in line for the return". Solid plan, I thought, except there was zero of the things I went there for! Bummer, but I made my way back to take care o the returns. I could see online that I was 5th in line and the estimated wait time was 10 minutes, but 10 turned into 20, 30, 40... there was several people waiting and only 2 customer service ladies processing returns, big orders, pick ups, etc. By then the website said I was 3rd in line and the wait time was 1 minute... a full hour went by and I was still 3rd in line. We recently re-did our kitchen and used cabinets from Ikea. It took us at least eight trips, over several months to get things because of stocking issues and even when it shows in stock, it often isn't. The frustrations don't stop there... missing screws, low quality pieces that have to be traded out (which is a nightmare waiting in the area for your number to be called) and waiting in long lines for checkout can put you over the edge. The good is that the cabinets turned out great and for the price were a good value. We followed a YouTube video online on how to build a base in to set them on and this made them all much stronger and a better height for us instead of using the wobbly legs they sell. Pick up a plate of meatballs with gravy while you are there and some from the freezer section to take home as a bonus for your hard work. DO NOT GO on a weekend!!!! We found that right when they open or right before they close on a weekday is the quietest time. read more

Update: Removing a star for their horrible delivery service. I ordered items two weeks ago with a delivery date of last week. No update on shipping, talked to customer service and they can't tell me when they're coming. So I go online and see if I can cancel the order and just try to pick it up in store. Oh they show them in stock, but lo and behold they "can't deliver to my area or a store in my area" even though they're in stock. I am going to take an online course in furniture and accessory making, I feel that making it myself would be quicker than hoping FedEx and IKEA get their stars aligned and packages to the people who bought them. My first time buying something from IKEA and my last. I purchased a headboard, sofa bed a dinning table and some miscellaneous items. Paid for delivery $59.00 and was advised by the salesperson on the floor, to book with "task rabbit" to assemble the furniture. The items were delivered. I paid a handy man $45.00 to put together the sofa. I also asked if he could put together the table and the headboard. He attempted the headboard and couldn't, the table he did put together although the part that's suppose to extend, wouldn't, it would only come out half way and get stuck. Later after struggling and asking several friends to try (with no luck) I hired someone from "task rabbit" that was listed as "pro." The person showed up told me he couldn't do it either and both the headboard and table were left without me being able to use them. Task rabbit charged me $47.00. To return both of the items I had to take apart the dinning table, rent a car big enough, load everything and drive it back to ikea, no apology, no interest in finding out what was wrong from the person doing the return. This place is terrible. A business model created as some sick joke by a marketing team to trick customers into buying more stuff. After spending several days lost in the elaborate labyrinth. One, as you can imagine, would be quite famished. Once you finally manage to find your way out, you'll notice they have a little bistro right at the end. Convenient, but also all a part of their devious plan. They know you won't survive the journey to the next establishment with food, you're dying from a lack of nourishment! You will get it all here. One thing I didn't get here mattes. This is something I believe you need to invest the most at. Did get a new bed for only $350. But the mattress is something I buy from another place (and on another review). I just didn't feel that any of their mattresses were good enough. For me anyway. Not perfect. I love IKEA for it's cheap furniture and convenient food court. It has all the basic furniture you need if your moving into an apartment or dorm room. In addition to furniture it sells appliances, kitchenware and honestly anything you can think of in order to have a nice and comfortable home. While the prices may be cheap and quality isn't the greatest ever, I've had IKEA furniture fail on me. Just remember you will have to collect and assemble the pieces of furniture together, so as long as you have a big enough car and can follow directions, you should be fine. In terms of this IKEA store, everything is laid out and organized well. The staff can be helpful- if they are actually there. It's frustrating at times to know how short staffed this place can be considering how big it is. I could go in an buy one thing and still have to wait at least 20 minutes in line. Also the return lines are absolutely ridiculous. People wait up to 1.5 hours in order to return anything back to the store. When I had to do so, I found that there were only 3 workers working on returns. It's disappointing to say the least when the store doesn't understand that they need more workers to handle such a large customer volume. read more

Do not believe their online inventory. See a bed frame online and plan to pick up here. Checked it is in-stock at store before come. Then drove for 40 mins and found nothing at aisle it supposed to be. Checked again using my phone and it still shows "in-stock". Tried to ask shop assistant but they were totally helpless. (interestingly they suggested me to come back tomorrow. Oh you want me to risk another 1.5-hour round trip for nothing?) No matter how good product they have.
