Went on a Wednesday at 2pm and there was a 30 minute line to get in. They have a tent up to provide shade, and even have employees offering umbrellas to those customers that are not in a shaded spot in line. The problem was that once I got inside, I noticed that there were MANY things that are out of stock in the showroom. Things got even worse as you walk through the marketplace and eventually down to the self-serve furniture warehouse section. Entire rows and sections of inventory are empty. Not sure if it's a supply chain issue or if people are still buying additional furniture 5 months into working from home. Check online if you need to actually buy something so you save yourself a trip to find that it's out of stock when you get there. With social distancing measures, many areas are blocked off or barren, so it's not an enjoyable experience to wander through the store like in the past. read more

Been spending a lot of $$$$ and going in and out has been easy. Staff members inside have been wonderful. The problem is returning/replacing defective parts. This part of IKEA service is beyond horrible. -Kiana (with purple hair)-- VERY RUDE and argues a lot with the customers. -Small signage outside for need to sign-up for return/replacement service. People are lining up not knowing they need to sign up first!! -1-2 counters working for 20 (growing) customers! So frustrating spending 60-120 minutes. Totally chaos management. When people complain of the wait time -- THEY DONT CARE! -Kiana gets angry and screams when customers stay inside. She'll make you go outside in the heat (over 90degrees) and will say they will call you when it's your turn. -What's ridiculous is when they're calling you -- the next counter won't even hear you. With a COVID-19, they are trying their best but I think few simple improvements are needed from just confusing people and wasting their time waiting in the wrong line or just not communicating clearly with simple instructions. Everyone seemed confused and kept asking each other with lots of shoulder shrugs and confused looks. lol. Instructions for Furniture Pickup: First, they made the furniture pickup area right underneath the large sign that says Exchanges and Returns. Once you figure this out, the initial instinct is to wait in line like everyone else to pick up the furniture, but you shouldn't until you get a text saying that your furniture is ready for pickup, then, stand in line to pick it up. Seems simple but lot of people waited in line and when they got to the front, they couldn't pick up anything because it wasn't ready. So, wait for the text first. Instructions for Exchanges and Returns: Second, when you walk up to the tent that has a small sign that says Exchanges and Returns, you are on the right track. (Note: it's not under the large sigh that says Exchanges and Returns). The sign will have the QR code that you need to scan and it will put you in a virtual line. Even tho that seems simple, it's not. Once you are around 3rd in line, get through the crowd and wait for someone to call your name. They will help you. Instructions for getting your food: Once you order your food and pay for it, you have to go outside and pick it up at the window. But there's a catch, no one know you ordered it. You have to get in line again outside and tell the worker what your order was and they'll get it for you. I was just standing there waiting for my order and no one was preparing it so eventually, I waited in line to walk up to the counter to see how my order was and realized there's no system in place for them to know what I ordered. Most people seems to be okay with the inefficiencies...but there were a handful of people that seemed really frustrated with the confusion that was created. Hope this is helpful to those reading it. There are some things that you need to see it in person to make a decision for purchase I understand that this is pandemic times but if you plan to go to IKEA be ready to wait because there are "extremely long lines" just to get into the store. Wearing a mask and 6ft distance is being enforced However, I saw a sign that reads that they're sanitizing the shopping carts but I noticed that they're short on staff to comply with state guidelines so who knows if staff is really doing so? I saw nobody.. For your protection it's best if you carry your own sanitizer and/or gloves and you disinfect your shopping cart or blue cart I knew what I wanted so I did a quick trip (still two hours with all the waiting) inside the store and got what I need it There are two self check outs that I don't use because they outsource peoples jobs and two registers open. All covid safety precautions were in place but I did see a couple of people not wearing their face mask correctly. From what I can tell, they let 10-15 people in at a time, and it's not really looking at capacity, but more like, not having 50 people at the first display room. For those who do not normally shop at the Carson location, they have furniture pick up for things that are not in the self service area. I asked around cause I didn't want to waste time, and all the co-workers were all really nice and courteous. To pick up said furniture, you need to ask the "help desk(?) before the check out area, show them the item number, and they print out a claim form. Go to checkout with the claim form, and wait for a text to go claim your item outside. All in all a quick trip with no issues. Horrible service for our delivery that should have been a standard shipment. We bought a couch and the delivery guys forgot to give us the covers, which should be an easy fix right? Nope! I tried to call ikea to get it figured out but the answering machine hangs up on you because they've been getting too many calls. I tried to email them next but the only option available to email them is for cancelling orders. So I drove 45 min to the store and get bounced around to 4 different places before someone can give me an answer. We went to exchanges and returns and we were basically told that even though they have the same covers available in the warehouse, we can't get those until the manager talked to the delivery guys and figured something out and then contacted us etc. it's also worth noting we paid $50 for delivery for the guys to dump the boxes at our house and leave, missing a few boxes along the way! The lady who helped us gave us attitude as well. There were no guarantees we'd get our sofa covers soon, so we're down a couple hundred dollars and unhelpful service from ikea. They do a good job providing hand sanitizers everywhere and controlling the number of people. The food court (Bistro) is closed and you can line up with the well respected 6 feet. They ran out of the cinnamon bun 6-pack and had individual buns. They are small, dry and disappointing. I do not recommend even if each costs $1... They do not have the yellow reusable bags and you'd have to purchase a blue reusable bag, which is $.99. Some people had carts but I have no idea where they got them because I didn't see them when we walked into the store. Some display areas are blocked due to COVID-19. To enforce social distancing, the line outside is ridiculously long and it takes a while till you can go inside. It looks like an amusement park ride wait. read more

Also, their showroom is split across two levels, and the marketplace is ALSO split across two levels, and the warehouse is small and cramped and the majority of the items have to be retrieved by a warehouse staff member. I know that the joke about IKEA is that it's a confusing maze and you have to walk through the entire showroom to find anything that you might be looking for: It's a marketing strategy to keep people in the store longer. OMG. They need to get it together. Workers are not aligned with process whatsoever. We found out we had to pick up our larger orders on the side of the building after we checkout. Person at checkout said, they'll "call" or "text" us when our goods are ready for pick up. Arrive on the side for pickup along with a massive crowd on Mother's Day, each customer painted with confusion across their faces until we realized we had to "check in" with the front person to get our order. If you're looking for some realistic roses, I found them here. I think they were $2-3 each. They looked really nice! We bought the same two dressers here at different times. The first dresser we bought about three years ago. We just bought the same dresser again and it looks like they upgraded it. There's a piece that the new dresser has that the old one doesn't. Also, the instructions had a flaw in it (find the wooden panel with three holes - this panel doesn't exisit). But it's no biggie we were able to put it together without hiccups. Following day at 4:06PM got the email saying my order was ready and would be held till 7am that morning. It's 4:06PM!!! First time visiting IKEA since the start of the pandemic and boy was I impressed with the spacing and time limits you have in the showroom/marketplace. You queue up and they let a wave of people go in every 10 min or so. And that provided a good cushion to control the crowds. I suggest lining up around 9:45-9:50 because they open at 10am and you will Make it inside with 15-20 min waiting any later you will queue up in the line I have pictured. This review is for the customer service department, specifically. I received a defective Ikea chair (1 of 4, the other 3 are great!). I first chatted with an on-line rep, who told me to bring the chair to this store for exchange. I arrived with the chair, which had some sidewalk chalk on the arms (from my 2 year old daughter, which wipe off with a damp cloth). They immediately started questioning the integrity and condition of the chair due to the chalk, before I could even explain that the seat is in fact, broken. They were combative, not even taking a moment to listen to why I was there. I offered to show them the chat transcript from my online service chat, and they responded with "I dont even need to see that, I'm rejecting this return." I wiped off the chalk in front of their eyes, but of course it was too late by then. Honestly, I'm never shopping at IKEA again after this experience. She tells me to go take a new one and then she'll change it. I'm taken back by this request as I'm well aware employees have access to prices on hand. I ask "you're asking me to go up to the second floor to take a new photo and come back" she says yes. I ask her to then check her computer the website has them at $24.99 I then assure her that isn't the price listed. I make my way up to the second floor at this point ticked off. This review is for the customer service I experienced today. I ABSOLUTELY loved my experience dealing with the cashier. It was very brief 15-20 mins and I left with a happy heart. It was not busy, no crowds just a full house of wanders. As I stood on line I noticed only one cashier open. Not an issue because it was only one group ahead of me. As I stood in line of course I'm shopping the check-out isle goodies. Then it hit me wow..seems to moving slow..I should have went to the self check-out. The next group is call by the automated system to checkout. Once again little lengthy but not much. Just enough to say..they must be returning something(haha). I'm alerted it's my turn. I get to the cashier with additional goodies hand and ask for price checks. The cashier starts checking and writes all the prices down..I'm thinking..ok she must not want to speak..idk...then BAM..the statement on the plexiglass reads "I'm deaf" I was taken back because I'm talking with a mask on asking questions and she is responding. Until I read her statement and was like WOW..how amazing to see her operating so effortlessly/ independently. I could see her smiling with her eyes as I communicated with my hands. She was such a gem. I'm very familiar with hearing impaired community and it's a challenging time more now (mask), then usual. But, yes, I need to be in the right kind of mood to even think about walking in let alone making a purchase that requires assembly. Keep in mind, I am fairly self-sufficient and don't typically require the assistance of customer service. With all that being said, IKEA is the perfect store (debatably on par with Target) to spend money you weren't intending on spending. This review is specifically for the online pick-up service. It was awful! I think were all accustomed now to the new curbside delivery that a lot of stores are doing because of the pandemic. Somehow, IKEA managed to miss the mark completely. I actually don't mind picking up items in-store, but only curbside was available here. Also, I knew the line getting into IKEA would be super long anyway. You start off by parking in one of their designated parking spots for online pick-up. Then you scan the QR code for your spot, and patiently (and I mean PATIENTLY!) wait 30 minutes for someone to bring your item. Only for you to realize...no one is coming. I ended up having to flag down a worker to have him go get my item. And other cars around me ended up chasing down said worker to look for their items too. Such a mess! OK, I love this store - have never appreciated the checkout process here, but everything else is great! The furniture quality does leave something to be desired, but if you're on a budget then it works. That said, I've had a handful of IKEA pieces for 20 years that are still in decent shape, although they have been "modified" to make them more sturdy or have replaced bad hardware. We buy our "everyday" glassware here because my family tends to break a lot of glasses. They have cute styles that are super cheap! Lots of other good, reasonably-priced kitchen items as well: our IKEA strainer was like $3 and gets used almost daily. Great prices on cute dish towels, too. And I love the food items here, especially the lingonberry jam. Oh, and their Christmas stuff is awesome and reasonably-priced. I have a bunch of much-loved IKEA ornaments that would be considered "vintage" now! On my most recent visit I required assistance from a manager. He was super nice and helpful! Great experience during a time when customer service and even basic kindness seem to be falling by the wayside. I do not like self-check at all, but to be fair, even when they had cashiers the checkout process was stressful, trying to pay and quickly bag everything simultaneously. I suppose at least with self-check it's easier to take the time you need to handle everything - you don't need to worry about the cashier waving the next person over while you're still frantically bagging all the random little impulse purchases you picked up while weaving through the store. Initially told 10 minute wait then it turned into 20. I went to target and came back and my order still wasn't ready. I checked in at 11:20 for my 11-12pm pick up and I did not get my order until 1pm. They kept saying another 10 - 15 minutes which is very irritating and then even said that I can come back tomorrow. Terrible experience waiting for my delivery. I was told that my delivery time is noon-4pm today, so I have been waiting for the package since noon today, not going anywhere in case I miss the package and they would have an excuse to re-deliver. It's now 5pm, and I haven't heard anything still. It's impossible to get to a real person on the phone, as well as getting to someone on the online chat. Literally the worse service. If the delivery is gonna be late, then at least call me and give me an updated time window. This is an absolutely frustrating experience and I would NOT purchase anything delivered from IKEA in the future. ---- Update: at 5:15pm Finally got connected with someone from IKEA on the phone, told me that delivery drivers are running late (showing the package was loaded around 8am in the morning, which is the same status I'm seeing using the tracking link), gave me the delivery company's number and basically told me it's not IKEA's problem and ask me to contact them. Basically useless and no new information. Around the same time, my email inquire that I submitted around 5pm got a reply from the delivery company saying that my package was damaged and returned to ikea. Five minutes later, I called the delivery company, someone picked up, first said it would be delivered within the next 2 hours. It is so incredibly crowded here on the weekends, with people getting in your way, crossing your pathway. The best part of this IKEA is the outdoor escalator you ride up to start the shopping experience, since the arrows and path are directed downwards. If you have never been in an IKEA, they sell furniture and objects for the home, displayed in faux bedrooms,kitchens, etc. the important thing to remember is that the customer puts everything together. Yes, this includes the large couches and cabinets, so if you are not one to follow instructions, it will be a problem. I no longer get the free cup of coffee (or tea) for being a member because the coffee is too strong and the line usually takes a while. They have an "as is" section downstairs that is always interesting to look at. The problem is that rude people are always trying out the furniture, just sitting there. I was pleasantly surprised by the rates on kitchenware, crockery, glassware, tools and gadgets among other things. Mattresses are great at the price compared to well known brands. I am using an Ikea mattress currently which is doing great. However, they didn't have the one we liked in stock. Several stuff is unavailable due to multiple issues, so I hope to find what I'm looking for very soon. Overall, this is a one stop shop for all your home needs. This is your regular typical IKEA. The food area isn't very clean, and their sodas are out all the time, thus, minus one star. The only other issue is the short-term parking- some people seem to park there simply because it's close. The store itself is well taken care of and most things are in stock. The hot dogs also comes with potent mustard, so beware if that's not something you want. Pizza- also vegetarian, also just slightly better than cafeteria pizza. Mashed potatoes- good, as is the soft serve and the cinnamon rolls. read more
