Have been to this neighborhood coffee place just a couple of times so far but each time the baristas have been super friendly including one even telling me the history of the historic building. The coffee is good and they have good treats. Especially tasty is a cheddar bacony piece of deliciousness/cake/breakfast type item. The courtesy and unique menu here are fantastic! There are a variety of seating from meeting rooms (without doors for privacy), to tables, benches and patio space if the weather allows. There is ramp access to get inside for wheelchairs and strollers alike and a stage for performances in the main room. The menu on the wall across from the barista counter has unique flavor drinks to try, while their menu overs a variety of tea, coffee, and ice or hot non-caffeinated options. There is grab and go food in a cooler by the register or more options on menu. Their Italian sodas with alternative milk is delicious, and the lavender lemonade doesn't disappoint (if lavender doesn't taste like soap to your genes). Duncan is the reason for the high rating and is the best at helping you find something new to try or something that will become your next favorite. The staff is friendly and understanding, especially if you choose to make this your study or work from home space and tune out their cleaning before closing. Average cup of coffee. Knocked stars for price, service and taste. If you're not a morning person, don't work mornings. Self service drip coffee at this price is not ok. I was handed an empty cup for close to $4. And the coffee is mediocre at best. Now the building is a big old house and has potential to be a really chill place. The other thing I noticed was the absence of the smell of coffee. This is a non-profit cafe location. It is named after their son who unfortunately passed away. They give some of their income from this cafe to non-profit organizations. The building from the outside looks like a old town hall. They have maintained the antique look. The seating area various but it adds character. Capital letters can't do this justice, eating this made my week. Smokey, salty, creamy, it sang a song that I will look forward to until next week when I order this again. My coffee was absolutely brilliant. One of my favorite things with espresso is something sweet, usually a berry does the trick. Raspberry is my go to, because I don't use them often at home. Great coffee...excellent coffee shop in downtown Salem. Went to IKE several times while we were visiting Salem based upon strong Yelp ratings. It did not disappoint! Great espresso, coffee, latte, and tasty treats. Really enjoyed their breakfast sandwiches and kids loved their blended drinks. I got a vanilla latte with an apricot scone. The vanilla latte was pretty good but my favorite was definitely the scone. I was debating between the apricot one or the bacon & cheese one but ultimately decided I wanted something sweet to go with my coffee. I definitely made the right choice but I will prob come back to try the other one soon. The ambiance was perfect. It wasn't too crowded since I came on a weekday but there was a lot of space inside and a few tables outside. The tables inside were pretty spaced out too so that gave me some peace of mind. Tried Black Butte Gold and it had a slightly bitter, peppery taste. Not a fan. The Rutas del Inca was slightly less bold and more enjoyable. The kid had a vanilla bean blended $3.75. I really like the feel of this place! It's very spacious and feels like an old theater. Theres plenty of seating and it's not jammed and clustered so you don't feel like a sardine. Plenty of tables for studying or a few couches for conversing. There's the big main room but there's plenty of side rooms and tables along the hallways as well. The coffee was great too. Among the many menu choices, I ordered a cappuccino (my go-to drink) and a blueberry lemon scone. Both were excellent. My drinking partner enjoyed a fine berry smoothie. Most people have never had good coffee and dont know what it is, so dont mind the positive reviews from starbucks customers. The beans they use are good although they dont know how to make a pourover correctly. Nor pull a proper shot of espresso. When he made my pourover he agreed the grind was too fine and the result was overextracted. But balked at making another because he would get in trouble for wasting beans. read more

I really like Sister's coffee and I was pumped to find IKE uses their roasts. I went with a drip coffee and enjoyed it well enough. I thought a drip coffee was a bit too expensive. I am not sure if IKE offers pour overs but I do not remember it being an option. The space is great. Very big room that can host events. Wifi was easy to connect to and I had no issues with it. The open space did get a little loud for work but my headphones helped. Parking was ok to find but I did have to pay for it. I am less likely to return to IKE since I could not find free parking. Overall, it is good they have Sister's and a lot of space to sit and work. However, I wish they had pour over options and things were a bit less expensive. read more
