I had knee surgery and am incapacitated
    Maria M.

I called this morning to place a delivery order after having surgery yesterday and not being able to drive. I placed my order over the phone, and paid there as well. The person taking my order was having difficulty putting my card through until she wrote it down and then it went through letting me know it would be ready with 20-25 minutes. After waiting an hour I called to ask where my order was, and was told they don't deliver. After expressing my disappointment she passed me to the manager, Aberdeen, who explained I needed to go through a food app for delivery. He gave me the number to Food Scooter, but it didn't work. I called him back and let him know what happened. He placed me on hold while he called via his cell phone. While they had him on hold he explained what was happening and that he'd call me back. The next call I got was from Food Scooter retrieving my delivery info. She said she'd call Ihop back. The next thing that happened was that I got a knock at the door with my food. Thank you Aberdeen for being a quality manager, and for providing excellent customer service. I called him back and he explained to me that he felt bad, and want to ensure his customers are happy. I MOST DEFINITELY AM! He wiped away my bill, and he paid the driver $10 to deliver my food.

This morning I'm up and out early to meet for a breakfast meeting. Today was a special on pancakes (.60 cent short stacks). The dining area was clean and service was very prompt. Our orders came out very quickly and all the food was hot and delicious. Great place for family and friends to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner. Great late night place (close at 12 weekdays and open 24 hours on the weekend). Bathrooms were pretty clean. Lots of parking.

Decent food nothing to rave about. Decent service again nothing to rave about. Our serve Kathy was nice and even though my order was messed up she quickly fixed it. Again my average rating was because of average service and food.

Starting with the pros: our server Milano was great. He gave great recs and was patient with us, he was also our bartender initially. I enjoyed my cocktail and my biscuits! The biscuits were fresh and I loved the sweet potato butter and peach jam. Cons: My entree. I ordered the tale of two fish with all catfish. I will note it took a while to get our food and I wonder if some of it had been sitting because it wasn't hot hot. But my fish was darker than one of my sisters who ordered the same thing and hard. A part of me thinks maybe the grease was old ? My grits were stiff and couldn't even be stirred (also not hot). As I was eating I noticed a hair in my fish, I let out sever know and he asked me if I'd like something else or for a new dish. I opted for a new dish and asked for it to go. That fish was cooked perfectly and the grits were edible. I also ordered a side of the crispy smashed potatoes and the potatoes were just small round potatoes with unseasoned onions and green peppers tossed in the bowl. Across our party someone's chicken (chicken & waffles) tasted old. And 2 people didn't receive their sides (eggs, potatoes) from the kitchen so they just ensured they were removed from the bill. I will say there was a lot going on that day (a pedestrian was hit in the parking lot) but I don't think that would have an impact on the kitchen staff. I'd possibly be open to trying another location but wouldn't return to this one.

Solid, modern eats with a nostalgic vibe!…read more Always a fan of Silver Diner and this location does not disappoint. The vibe here is of a casual diner, with an expansive menu that changes often with the seasons and local eats. I came here after visiting a friend out in the Waldorf area and decided to grab take-out before heading back into DC. I will admit I almost did not stop here because it was near closing time and I hate order from place near closing. I got here near closing and the food was just as fresh as if it was opening time. We all know how it is getting somewhere to eat near closing time.... You tend to get subpar service and food. You subject to getting a scraps, bad orders, guilty eye rolls from your server, "ain't got this, "ain't got that," issues....lol. But, this was not the case at this Silver Diner. It was a great experience from beginning to end. Our bartender/server was Cameron C. and he did an amazing job serving us and making us feel welcomed. He's truly a people person. He kept the drinks on point while we waited for our food and made sure our orders were prepared exactly how we requested. During this visit, I tried the Short Rib Burger, Loaded Fries as a side & Buffalo Wings. Everything was delicious and fresh. And, the burger was the star!...A juicy 1/2lb burger pattie cooked to perfection....topped with bacon & tender braised short rib!! It was complete meat overload, super fresh and sooooo good! For anyone that is "meataholic" like myself...you gotta try this thing. My wings and the loaded fries complemented my dish well too. Not to mention, everything was packed well for the long haul and drive back to DC....of course, I couldn't resist and snuck in a few bites of the fries at each stop light heading back down Route 5. Let's just call it a #qualitycheck! lol ;-) In all, I enjoyed my visit. This location gets two thumbs up in my book. I'l definitely visit this SD again if I am ever in this neck of the woods hungry and in need. * Yelp Elite Tip & Honorable Mention: Sign up for their "Eat Well Do Well" Rewards Program. LOVE the coffee sooo much, we bought a bag for home! Super cute, artsy establishment. Presentation is always on point buttt the food was wayyy too salty. I feel so weird saying that because I'm typically disappointed in the lack of seasoning in restaurants. NOT HERE. Hubs agreed ... his eggs and my salmon frittata and potatoes were just not edible. Today, the standouts for hubs was the million dollar bacon; for me, the cheese grits and honey biscuits and, for both of us: the coffee. Worth the visit. Will return. Will just be more selective with my order.

Today I finally visited and was a bit disappointed to see the underwhelming interior where it is strictly carry out and cheap metal guest chairs to wait on while the food is prepared. But it's really about the food right?! Meh. It was very hit and miss. I ordered the (4) sliders with grilled onions. They were slightly charred which was nice, and they were juicy, but they could have been cooked a little more (they were like medium to medium well and I prefer well done - I should note they didn't ask how I preferred my burgers cooked). I also ordered their jumbo fried wings and picked sweet and sassy sauce. The sauce was tasty and the wings had a nice texture, but beyond the sauce the wings had a plain flavor suggesting they didn't season the wings before frying and then coating them with sauce. Overall the food was solid but not awe inspiring. I was less impressed with their cakes. I ordered a strawberry slice and a carrot cake. The carrot cake was moist and wasn't bad at all. I've had much better, but it was edible and satisfied my sweet tooth for the day. The strawberry cake however was dry and grainy. Perhaps it was old. It was definitely a waste of $7.99! The Castellano had a crisped pile of gorgeous beef, with crispy fries, and super fresh veggies (basically a cheeseburger on a sub). My husband ordered this one, so I didn't taste it personally but he absolutely LOVED it. The Thommy, The Three Fingers is a chopped cheese. It's, by god, the best I've ever had in my life. I add peppers, provolone and mayo and an extra side of tzatziki (labeled garlic cucumber on the menu), and oil and vinegar (which tastes like Italian dressing, but who's counting?). The bread is phenomenal. I may literally just order a sub roll with no ingredients one day, just so I can eat it toasted with butter, with every meal I have. It's soft and fluffy, crispy and chewy all at the same time. (It almost gives bagel, but not tough). I also got the y cheesecake. Not as special, perhaps from the Cysco truck (iykyk), but I still bought it and scarfed it down. Strawberry topping was def the average canned-strawberry topping (but I personally love that). I cannot stress, the food is OUT OF THIS WORLD! As for service, the entire team is so friendly and helpful. They kid around, make silly jokes and make sure your order is prepared fresh and fast. It isn't "fast food fast", but also doesn't taste like shit either, so the wait is worth it. At most 10-15 min if you don't call ahead. As for seating, in winter there are only two two-tops so seating is extremely limited. It is mostly a deli-and-get-outta-here kind of place, but nonetheless welcoming and charming. They have tons of Italian memorabilia all over the walls including giant GodFather posters, taxi plates and more. Today was my first time inside, but I've had my husband go pick up food several times on the way home. I cannot live without one of these subs AT MINIMUM once a month.

I know enough Spanish to speak to a 4 year old, so I was way out of my league! I noticed upon arrival that they have some baked good, grocery goods, and apparently hot dishes given there were a few tables where people were actively eating. I just kind of strolled around for a minute looking lost. There is no one readily available to help people like me with the deer-in-headlights look. I had hoped to try an empanadas but it seemed intimidating so I strolled over to the shelves where there were various breads, pastries and cookies. I was still a bit lost because I first saw people with trays and grabbing breads but I thought they might be employees. But after wandering in another circle I noticed a lady grabbing a tray and tongs. I then saw the little sign that said to use the trays and tongs for the baked goods. I then followed the lady and managed to grab a few items. I had hoped for some cupcakes or donuts but saw neither. I did however get a cheese danish, a couple of cookies and a couple of breads. The items I got were pretty good and the bread was fairly soft. I certainly wasn't disappointed in any of the items I grabbed, I only wished there were a few other sweet items and a better system to better understand how best to navigate the store. But all things considered, the baked goods were good enough that I may very well be back to sample other items.
