    My birthday sweetie and me.
    Leslie G.

Once again IHOP knocked it out of the park. A group of 10 of us gathered for breakfast on 10/07/2025 for a surprise birthday party for my boyfriend and to celebrate 4 others. I stopped in the day before to let them know a group would be coming in. They took great care of setting us up. Makayla was our server. Did did a great job handling a party of 10 by herself. The only slight issue was getting our food out together. That happens with a large group often. Makayla kept a good eye on us and made sure we had everything we needed. The staff, including the wonderful, the gentleman who keeps the tables clean, lead everyone in singing happy birthday. He is such a wonderful addition to the staff. And to be honest the staff at this location sing better than any other restaurant around. Our group has been extremely pleased with the staff and food at the Fordham Dr. Location that everyone wants to come back for dinner. Thank y'all for taking such good care of us.

Food was delicious ordered the chicken fajita omelette, side of bacon, and my daughter got the crepes. Had to wait a bit for our waiter as he was helping another table but someone else came over to get us drinks which helped with the wait. The place seemed decently clean and loved that they had tables indicated by a sign as to which ones were clean.

Typical Ihop. I've come here twice on a slow night with a large party and a couple of times on a busy day with groups of three-five. There's definitely a difference in service from morning shift and night. In the mornings, it's very fast paced. Servers are friendly and unbeat. And it's a classic ihop experience. At night--it's not a Waffle House vibe, but it's getting there. Aside from that service is often slow and understaffed for large groups, so just be prepared to wait long periods in between drink orders, meal orders, and actually getting your meal. They're often less attentive on drink refills. I will say that the last time I went with a large group, the server was quick about splitting checks and getting everyone cashed out. They do have specials constantly running. Monday is military appreciation--50% off Tuesday is customer appreciation--buy one entree get one free. Wednesday is Senior appreciation--50%off Thursday is student/faculty 50% off Friday is all you can eat pancakes $6.99 My go-to meals are the sirloin tip and eggs or the stuffed peach crepe special if it's running.

    Breakfast!!

It's an IHOP, probably very similar to every other IHOP in the country. Nothing special here, my eggs were undercooked, the red potatoes were not red potatoes but those little fried potatoes (home fries or whatever) that look like they came out of a freezer bag. My waitress was nice, forgetful & loudly talking across the restaurant to patrons & staff, but she was nice. Considering the time of my visit & how empty it was, I really was surprised that my meal ticket took as long as it did to come out & that the eggs were still undercooked & super runny. I ordered over medium, these eggs look like they may have spent 30 seconds on each side of a lukewarm grill. The coffee carafe was decent enough that I didn't need to overly doctor it with cream & sugar. Well heck, at least the pancakes were good!! Oh, as with most places I checkout in Virginia, the hot sauce selection was found to be lacking. They offer Cholula, Tabasco or Texas Pete. At least they had Cholula, but I'm a Tapatío guy.

French toast....yum! Tony ate all of it.

Took my son and his girlfriend out for breakfast. This visit was very pleasant and all kudos goes to our server. We were seated right away. Our server, Mike was awesome from the moment we were seated. He even asked which booth we wanted to sit at. We all had ordered coffee to drink and Mike bought them out with regular creamer. He overheard us talking about how we liked flavored creamers with our coffee and he brought us French vanilla and Hazelnut creamer. Brittanie ordered the steak omelette with pancakes. Tony ordered French toast with a side of hash browns, bacon and eggs. I ordered the Belgian waffle with eggs and bacon. We all enjoyed our breakfast. Mike was very attentive and made sure we had our coffee filled and he brought us extra napkins. Lastly, he gave us coffee to go! It was nice and hot. Great service!

I haven't been to IHOP in forever! I'm so glad my experience went well...First, we were seated right away with a big party (8). Bonus points! Then, I was blown away by all the different pancake flavors! I ended up going for the Big Steak Omelette and a side of regular pancakes. Portions were large and everything tasted great! My daughter ordered the funny face pancake and when it came out, it was shaped like Mickey Mouse! I don't know if all locations do this, but my girl's eyes lit up and she was beaming! It was shaped as a regular pancake with 2 silver dollar pancake ears! It definitely made her want to eat more of it too! :) Last, the servers were super nice. I especially liked one of the guys bussing tables. At first, I thought it was a manager because he came by and asked us how our meal was. Then, he said that he'd love to take some of our plates away so we could relax and just enjoy our conversation! I thought...wow, how polite! This is a great location to visit if you're an ihop fan!

I ordered the Black and Blue burger with sweet potatoes waffle fried, and my son ordered a bacon cheeseburger with regular fries. I got my burger with a little pink, and it was cooked to perfection! Sometimes I am hesitant to get pink because it's been to raw. The burger was not only cooked to perfection, I really loved the bleu cheese sauce and grilled onions. The waffle fries with the cinnamon/brown sugar sauce were great as well. My son also really enjoyed his burger, but he did say his fries tasted like shrimp. I tasted them, and they didn't taste like shrimp but they did have a distinct taste. I can't really describe it, but I didn't like it. Otherwise we had a great visit, one of the best burgers I've had, and really good, quick service! I am sure we were in and out in under an hour with everything still being super fresh!

So when one of the Homies told me about this place I was all in because - burgers - what's not to love. Barrel 17 did not disappoint; when i got there i realized quickly i was the last to know because it was busy. We had about a 10 minute wait to be seated but that was cut short by option to sit at the bar. The bartender was working like she had six arms. It was non stop; attentive, taking orders, making drinks, checking back with others, she was truly impressive. The places was jumping; it was busy, casual and didn't slow down from the time we arrived until we left. Parking is challenging, there's a small lot beside the restaurant and a small lot behind it so if you can car pool you'll benefit yourselves. Now on to the star of the show - the food! The only knock I had was portion size. In a big guy with an even bigger appetite and when i left there i could've eaten my whole meal over again lol. But that's also because it was delicious. I got the mac n cheese starter, the Beast Burger, tater tots , and the biggest slice of chocolate cake I've ever had. Literally the biggest slice of cake ever- twice the size of my burger. The last time I set foot inside their Pleasure House Rd location was at least 10 years ago. I celebrated my birthday there as my friends were kind enough to take me out. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. Although I prefer my fried rice a bit simpler (if you give me just garlic fried rice, I am SET), 1608's fried rice (veggies, garlic, soy, basmati rice, 2 runny eggs, smoked ham) had a lot going on, which made for a flavorful dish. I liked the rice and the burrito (Korean style fried chicken breast, scrambled eggs, cilantro lime, cheddar, pico de gallo) a lot. I didn't finish either because it was a lot of food (I really thought I was hungry, haha). But these leftovers turned into a fantastic dinner later on. 1608 looked clean and organized, although I thought it was a little too dark inside, at least for brunch service. That's not a dealbreaker since everything from the food to the service was as excellent as I remember. I hope to return soon with my mom. Regardless, I'll find my way back eventually. Thank you, 1608 Crafthouse! And great seeing you again, Hunter! JV

Our first table ended up being under a spotlight that was directly in our line of sight (it looked like it was meant for the specials board), so we asked to move. Staff was accommodating and got us to a better table quickly. The space itself is really nice. It was clean, rustically decorated, and the live plants in liquor bottles on the tables are a nice touch. Our server was friendly from the start and took drink orders right away. My daughter and I had sodas, and my husband ordered the Southern Charm Old Fashioned off the specials menu, which he enjoyed. The menu is on the smaller side, which we actually like. One unique detail was the option to "buy a round for the kitchen," which we thought was a really nice touch and decided to add it when we ordered our appetizer. We started with the fried deviled eggs after a friend recommended them. They were creative with three styles (classic with pickle, togarashi ginger, and crispy prosciutto), but overall a bit on the dry side and not as flavorful as we expected. We asked for Dijon, but they don't have it. Our server suggested and brought out the Baja dipping sauce instead, which did pair well and kind of improved them. My husband had the fish and chips and really enjoyed it. He said the fish was flaky and well cooked. I ordered the Union grilled cheese, which unfortunately seemed like it had been sitting a bit before being served, as the bottom was soggy. It was just okay overall and not particularly memorable for the price. The sweet potato fries on the side were the clear standout. They were crispy, the perfect balance of sweet and salty and honestly the best part of the dish. Our daughter had the kid's smashburger. It was exactly that. Service throughout the meal was good. She was friendly, attentive without being overbearing, and there when needed. The main disappointment came at the end. When our meals were served, the server actually offered sauces at the table (ketchup, mayo, ranch, etc.), and specifically suggested items like the baja sauce for the eggs and ranch to us. Because of that, we were surprised to see several charges for the sauces on the bill, especially since they were offered and recommended at the table with no mention of any additional cost. We were also charged a credit card fee, with no signage anywhere (entrance, hostess stand, or menu) indicating that paying with a card would include an extra charge. It just left an unnecessary sour note on an otherwise solid, casual meal. Nothing was bad, and nothing really stood out as exceptional, but the lack of transparency around those final charges really impacted the overall experience for us.

One piece of advice: arrive a little before Happy Hour begins at 3:00 p.m. If you wait until then, you'll likely find yourself several people deep in line. Don't let that discourage you. Embrace it, because once you're seated you'll quickly discover that the wait was well worth it. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, and the prices--especially during Happy Hour--are outstanding. The Atlantic specializes in oysters, and their Happy Hour runs daily from 3:00-6:00 p.m., including weekends. We began with a Chopped Caesar Salad ($9). Every ingredient was crisp, fresh, and flavorful--a simple dish executed exactly as it should be. Next came the oysters: a dozen Rockefeller and a dozen Pacific. The Rockefeller oysters were everything you would expect from this classic preparation--rich, savory, and baked beautifully. The Pacific oysters, however, completely stole the show. Each oyster was topped with a delicious combination of chorizo sausage, pepper jack cheese, and seasonings before being baked to perfection. They were bold, flavorful, and easily my favorite item of the afternoon. I also ordered the Double Stack Cheeseburger ($7), and what a terrific value. The burger arrived piping hot, loaded with melted cheese, and accompanied by a generous serving of crispy fries. It's hard to imagine finding a better burger at that price anywhere along the Oceanfront. My wife ordered the pork, shrimp, and kimchi dumplings served with a chili crunch and ponzu sauce that tied the entire dish together beautifully. She jokingly threatened to drink the remaining sauce after finishing the dumplings (she didn't), but she did convince me to dip one of my fries into it. She was absolutely right--it was fantastic. In fact, I now regret turning down the dumpling she generously offered me. Part of the fun of dining here is watching Shuck-Master Slim work. He's not only remarkably skilled but entertaining as well, adding a little personality to an already enjoyable experience. From the fresh seafood to the outstanding value and friendly atmosphere, this was another memorable visit to the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. If you haven't been to The Atlantic on Pacific, I highly recommend adding it to your list. You'll be glad you did, and you can rest assured that you're helping support one of our outstanding local restaurants.

I decided to visit after walking up an appetite at First Landing State Park…read more I popped in & was told to sit wherever. I found a booth & looked over the menu. Decided to start with their fried pickles which were absolutely delicious! I also ordered a hamburger but was t impressed with it. It was cooked well but lacked flavor. The fries however were absolutely delicious!

The food is fine for the price but the manager (heavyset man with a beer gut, beard, and ponytail)…read moreof this specific establishment is a real tool. Ladies if you look good he might let you slide on free items (I've seen it myself) but fellas he's gonna hassle you even for sour cream if you don't tip him enough to his satisfaction and then complain to your face about it if you're a regular. To those that care: The specific incident that caused my review was I had went in on a tuesday for their "taco Tuesday" special. Now because I work by the oceanfront I frequent this place. I've been told they aren't supposed to let you walk out with to go orders on their taco Tuesday, but if I pay for and eat some of my food who is this manager to say I can't leave with a to go box(which in most cases I have), but I digress. I tried to do it today and the manager comes to me with a nasty attitude over me not tipping enough for his standards telling me I can't take my food to go because he doesn't feel I tip enough and "what's a 5 dollar tip gonna do for him". Keep in mind I told him I'm not ordering food for just myself I sometimes take lunch orders from work which is never more than 5 to go small tacos. I've never been rude to this man I'm a quiet person so I usually order wait and leave. I work for a reputable company that sees a lot of tourism and I often recommended this spot to our guests but due to this situation I will be advising people to avoid this place if you're not just going to drink at the end of the night on The Weekend. In the specific event the owner of the restaurant was there and confirmed they weren't supposed to be doing to go tacos which I can respect. What I dont respect is the manager picking and choosing when he wants to follow the rules of the establishment for his own gain.
