Parking lot full at 10:00am. No hostess. Waitress told us to wait until she cleaned a table. Many dirty tables. We were seated at a booth near the kitchen entrance. Cold air blowing down on us (our napkins were blowing in the wind) We asked to move to another table. Obviously understaffed. We ordered two of the 55+ Rise and Shine from the menu. We're supposed to get two eggs but only got one. Waitress had many other tables but finally came by and I told her about the eggs. Of course by the time we got our other eggs we were finished with the other food. We finally decided to give IHOP here in Springfield another try, and had a MUCH better experience!! Of course, like most breakfast/brunch spots, the secret here is to come during "off" hours, or to beat the rush. I think we got very lucky and beat the rush on a recent rainy Saturday morning, and we were MUCH happier than after our first (aborted) visit!! We were seated quickly, got our coffee and orders taken quickly, and got service with a smile, even as the place started filling up over the course of our visit. I ordered some sort of pancake sliders-- an egg and sausage sandwiched between two pancakes and the Mr. got a steak omelet. Both looked good, though if I got those sliders again, I'd ask them not to pre-douse them with syrup; it was just a bit too much. I'm really sorry to only give this restaurant a one star rating but it barely deserves that. The staff has always been overly friendly. One male waiter who has since "quit without notice " the day before Christmas according to our new waitress, was a little overwhelming. Once we didn't realize he was behind where we sat and he interrupted our conversation about gardening to tell us about his. We thought it was a bit much, in the least! Anyway, they all try and no complaints about service. It's the food! Greasy is not how people eat anymore. The food is just not up to par. The restaurant itself just feels greasy to me. Sticky menus, tables... I have been to Waffle Houses and they're not this bad! I don't want a Springfield business to not succeed so I hope they take it as constructive. It appears all the negative reviews for bad service have been heard. I saw coupons in the Reach with a big old "under new management" starburst. So we decided to try it today. Normally, we go to Beavercreek since we live in Enon so it's about the same drive, but we wanted to see how it was now since I've heard nothing but bad about this location. Granted we were one of the only two or three tables there at 7am, but service was cheerful, helpful and attentive on refills! My breakfast melt which had last time come out wrong was perfect this time, and came out fast. I asked about management changes and or server said yes they had new servers and kitchen as well. Everything seemed to be clean and the bathrooms were well maintained. I can't see how it could have been better, so four stars, I'll save the fifth for an update after some repeated visits. read more

My family and I have given them several chances and there is no improvement. 10-20 mins to be seated with no one in line. 20-30 mins for a waitress to come to the table. 20-30 mins for drinks to come out. 40-50 for the food, which is always missing something. I don't know what I expected from a IHOP in Springfield but this morning's meal reminded me to keep my expectations low. Ordered the turkey, bacon and avocado wrap.. which came without avocado and bacon.. the entire reason I wanted it in the first place. The wrap was prepared poorly (aside from the missing ingredients) and was pretty much tasteless. My side of pancakes (supposed to be 3.. was only 2). So, circumstance led me to hold off on visiting IHOP as soon as it opened; Jules and I rather like the one in Beavercreek for a late-night breakfast, so when one opened in Springfield (where we have game night often, we were looking forward to this). So, with my new job in Springfield, we decided to meet up there for lunch....or at least that was the planned. Upon arriving, we were seated almost instantaneously in a well-appointed table by the window. And that was it. We waited for over 25 minutes, with numerous (at least 5) waitresses and their manager passing our table over and over with no one even stopping long enough to take our drink orders. At one point, I made direct eye contact with the manager, who was working with a table behind us, whereupon she finished up and made a sharp right, asking a couple two tables away if they needed anything. Worse still, the waitress for the table beside us stood within six inches of me--I'm not exaggerating here; I put my hand up, mere inches from her arm to try to draw her attention--but nothing. After half an hour of waiting, we did something that I cannot recall ever having done before. We left. We went to Olympic instead, where we were waited on, were served, and had eaten in as much time as we had waited impotently at IHOP. Pathetic. Tried this again. Absolutely horrible. 9 tables sitting open needing busses and a whole lobby of people being told it's a 20 to 30 minute wait. The place is pure chaos and a mess. This is all obviously due to horrible management. I don't think this place will be here much longer the way things are going. read more

Got together with in laws and the six of us went to breakfast on a Monday morning. We were seated quickly. Service was excellent, waitress was attentive brought coffee pot refills before they were empty. The food was great, it all came out at the same time and was hot and prepared as ordered. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others and I will be back. read more

Morning breakfast has been good. This is a two part review - one the 4 daytime visits - two the one time visit at night. I will give morning shift visits an astounding 5 stars for excellent service, friendliness and quality. Our waitress, Fran, was very personable, friendly and knowledgeable. She made our experience very enjoyable. Now for the second part. On June 1, at about 8:30 pm, my wife and I stopped for a late night breakfast. There were 3 waitresses visible when we walked in and maybe 3 tables/booties being used. We waited about5 minutes to be seated and was given both menus, only the large main menu. When we asked about the Hawaiian French toast menu, it was like we were bothering them. My wife ordered scrambled eggs, hash browns and 4 slices of bacon. I ordered the country fried steak with gravy, eggs ( over easy) hash browns (crispy) and pancakes. My wife's order came out, no hash browns, only 2 bacon and the eggs were very unappealing, it took another 5 minutes for the rest of her order. My plate, at first glance had no hash browns until I moved the steak to see burnt hash browns underneath. The eggs were over cooked and the gravy was this god awful tasting brown flour paste that taste awful. So for evening meal I give them - 1 Star only because the coffee was good I do not and can not with good conscience recommend evening meals but would highly suggest morning meals. I prefer Fran, but all of the staff were friendly during morning visits. Update review The past 3 times we, my wife and I, were at IHOP (international house of PANCAKES), the pancakes were not done. It is a shame that a restaurant that is supposed to be famous for pancakes can't even get the pancakes done, raw center. We noticed that a majority of the people that had pancakes had basically left them sitting on the plate. They have lost good customers because of this problem read more

Ok... when my husband and I went there when it first opened, the service was horrible and the food wasn't right or good. We're decided to try it again because of a coupon thru local flavor. I must say it was a 180 degree turn around! We were greeted very friendly by 3 different people and our waitress, Casei, was there promptly, extremely friendly and helpful! Our food came out at a reasonable time, was hot and very good! Loved the blueberry pancakes with real blueberries (not just goo). Sausage was tasty and hashbrowns and eggs were done to order. While the Springfield iHop has definitely flourished under new Management, it still has some kinks to work out. When they're busy, things go awry. One experience in particular: there were no clean (large) glasses. We received water in a kids glass. When they're simply steady, or dead, however, you receive legitimately great customer service which, to me, shows that their heart is in the right place, they may just be going through some growing pains. read more

Read this before going here!! I ordered over easy eggs...they came out so barely cooked that when I touched them with a fork, the uncooked clear egg slime slid all over the plate and even into my hash browns. This happens alot these days, but read what happens next!: Another server (not ours) overhears me mention to the wife "I think these eggs will have to go back." She says "Is something wrong?" and I say "Can i please get the over easy eggs cooked a bit more" She says "Sure. I'll slide your potatoes to another plate so you have something to eat while they are cooking." I was about to protest that all the egg slime was in the potatoes but she was gone. As she is going in the kitchen, I hear her yell as plain as day "CAN I GET SOME OVER MEDIUM EGGS, THEY don't...." and I couldn't hear the rest! SHE CHANGED THE ORDER OF MY EGGS BECAUSE THE KITCHEN WAS INCAPABLE OF COOKING THEM OVER EASY! They came out completely overcooked with no yolk to dip the toast in. Our server never asked if they were ok, I never ate them and they charged us the full amount for our bill. Sidenote: don't ever let any server tell you that the whites are runny in over easy eggs! pull out your phone, google search it and show them and the manager any of the links that come up like cooking light, the kitchn, huffington post, or any source..ever. read more

My wife and grand kids came to brunch at the Springfield, Ohio location the day after Christmas. We will not be back! After waiting for 5-7 minutes for someone to come and seat us. Then we heard what we thought was the manager yelling at the workers to come out and serve those waiting. We were told one waitress said she would not serve anyone today. The omelet was dry, one of the plates of my grandson had a reddish orange substance under neat the egg, the waitress replace it. Upon leaving we saw the manager outside smoking with 4 of the staff. The waitress Casey did the best she could under bad conditions. My only hope is that the owner sees this yelp and make the necessary changes or he/she will continue to lose business. read more

I have been to IHop's all over the US, and this one is by far the worst. The employees are rude, and do not appear to have even basic manners. (yelling, slamming plates, ect.) The food is pre-cooked garbage from GFS. We aaked for over medium eggs and received just about raw and very sulfer smelling eggs. I think they might have been going bad. The black & blue burger was tastless and looked like it was cooked in the microwave. Strangly the "bacon" that came with it tasted like gross turkey bacon burnt to a crisp. Don't waste your time, just go to McDonald's if you want cheap food. read more

Took forever for the food to come out then when it did it was the wrong item. Was told it would take 10 minutes for right sandwich, sat forever until the people I was with was done eating but still no sandwich. Told waitress to put mine in a to go box. Our first visit here, my review pretty much mirrors most of these reviews already posted so I wonder if they're even interested in working the bugs out. Waitress was nice but after delivering our food, we had to wait several minutes for silverware and was given plastic ware instead. Which okay I could deal with that but the potatoes were the only thing that was hot. Won't be going back until the reviews improve 3 weeks ago - out of town guests had IHOP on their list of things to try so we ended up here again. I have to say it was a better experience this time. We actually ate from real silverware. I ordered vegy omelet and it was good, others in our group all were pleased with their breakfasts. The food is great. The staff not so much. There is one lady named Francine and she is hands down the best. My husband and I almost stopped eating here until we got her as our waitress. Of course the food came out cold and she ran back and fixed it. We only go in if she's in and only sit in her section. The staff could learn something's from her. I believe she only works mornings. This morning I decided to order carryout. I had seen the sign outside the restaurant that said they now had online ordering. This is my son's "favorite place" (he just orders plain pancakes and loves them wherever they come from) and last time we ordered from here we waited 45 minutes for our food. I tried to order online and several of the items on the online menu wouldn't let you select them so I had to piece together what everyone wanted from different things. When I finally entered my credit card info, I got a message that my order could not be completed online and to call.
