Came here when my first choice nearby was closed for the day. I'd heard a ton of good things about…read moretheir other location, of course, and meant to go eventually but forgot this one was here. Tiny, carryout only, though there are a couple of tables to sit while you wait or maybe to eat a quick lunch. Super friendly staff. Fairly short menu; all the good stuff. I wasn't famished and didn't want to wait for chicken or fish, so I got an assortment of sides thinking that would be quicker. They fried up the okra right then, though, and had a steady stream of pickup orders coming through the door, so it still took 10-15 minutes. It was okay, though, smelling the amazing scents coming from the kitchen, talking to the staff and customers. I hadn't noticed they have ribs (just a picture, not on the menu) so I might've ordered those. Oh well. $20 I think, or they do combos with sides or fish and sides. Anyway. I got fried okra, and it was a big portion and absolutely amazing. No need for any sauces, tasty on its own. Perfectly crisp. Baked beans: my style, sauce so thick you can eat them with a fork. Slightly sweet, mostly savory, very good. Greens (collards) with turkey: outstanding. Tender but not floppy, nicely seasoned. Cornbread: soft, sweet, crumbly, topped with butter. Yum. Geechee rice: seasoned, bacon and sausage, very good. And black-eyed pea salad. I like black-eyed peas but had never had them in a salad. These were great: plump, with bits of tomato and cucumber and onion, in a vinegary dressing. Again, yum. Enough food for two meals. They gave me the side plate special, three sides and cornbread, which helped with the price. I was headed home and not thirsty so I didn't get a drink, but based on conversations with other customers I missed out on the lemonade and sweet tea. I'll be back for those and maybe a rib-fish combo. And to try the mac. Get here if you can!

They have family photos inside that helped give their space a cozy vibe. It's not big enough to dine in but there's some tables available if you want to wait on your order. I tried the fish and chicken plate with macaroni and greens...a win! I could tell by how hot the plate was when I got it that it was gonna be good. The greens were well seasoned and the mac was nice and cheesy. Excited to have found this place.

I've heard great things about Nicks but since I live a ways away this was my first time here. It…read morewas a warm Ohio day so we sat on the outside patio. I noticed right away that they have free WiFi. I had the Guinness onion soup and a Greek salad with chicken. The onion soup had a rich wonderful flavor and the Greek salad was also great! My son had bone in wings and the Cuban sandwich. The wings were above average with just the right amount of heat and that Cuban was one great sandwich! The place got real busy real fast and included one table of 16 people. Even with that, the service was quick and friendly. As Arnold said, 'I'll be back!'

The short version Veteran-owned, family-run since 1949. Patio with weekly entertainment. Massive burger options. Zero privacy. Bring an appetite and a dramatic monologue if you want people to listen. #BeaverMoon #NoPrivacy The food (and my questionable life choices) Cheese Cubs: 12 little golden mozzarella missiles. Crispy, glorious, and sorrowfully under-sauced. Nick's, your marinara game needs to be more generous -- we're trying to dunk, not meditate #WeLikeLotsOfSauce - I guess we could have asked for more, but I didn't want to be a glutton. #fatkidproblems Hickory Nick burger: I ordered it well-done because I'm not a risk-taker. While a tapeworm is a good weightloss program, i'm not interested! It arrived the size of a small moon and tasted like someone whispered barbecue secrets into a cow's ear. Hickory bacon, fried onion straws, American cheese, and Nick's Awesome BBQ Sauce with a spare bottle parked like it paid rent at the table. Messy, joyful, zero regrets. #TapeWorm #GetsLotsOfNapkins Fries: crispy, a little salty, perfect for scooping up remorse and extra Nicks BBQ sauce. The menu (a choose-your-own-adventure). Pretty Extensive #lotsofoptions Filet Mignon, Frog Legs, Liver and Onions, and The Sexy Club all living on the same page like this is normal. Sauces have names like "Fire in ya hole" and "Sweet Hot Damn" -- either a culinary threat level or a very honest marketing team. Whatever you pick, it'll be dramatic. The vibe & patio life Feels like a favorite uncle's living room who also happens to run a restaurant. Warm, loud, and full of TVs for sports fans who like to offer unsolicited referee critiques. The patio has weekly entertainment -- think friendly chaos, a beer in hand, and the kind of music where everyone pretends they remember the lyrics. Perfect for a summer night. The bar & crowd Big draft selection, bartenders who know your drink before you do, and regulars who will rate your life choices over a pint. The space is cozy -- translation: if you whisper something juicy, the whole place will lean in. Privacy is not on the menu! #Eavesdropper #NoPrivacy #KindaSmall The only gripe It's compact. We were lucky to beat the lunch crowd. When full, it's like dining in a cheerful sardine can. One star off for proximity; the food earns the rest. Final score 4 out of 5 Bald Heads ‍‍‍‍ -- Veteran-owned since 1949, family-run, loud, proud, and delicious. Go for the burger, stay for the patio music, and bring extra marinara just in case. I'll be back because my stomach has no self-control. #deliciousfood @topfans #BaldWhiteGuyReview #NickApproved #XeniaEats #HickoryNick #CheeseCubs #EatLocal #FourBaldHeads
