I've heard great things about Nicks but since I live a ways away this was my first time here. It was a warm Ohio day so we sat on the outside patio. I noticed right away that they have free WiFi. I had the Guinness onion soup and a Greek salad with chicken. The onion soup had a rich wonderful flavor and the Greek salad was also great! My son had bone in wings and the Cuban sandwich. The wings were above average with just the right amount of heat and that Cuban was one great sandwich! The place got real busy real fast and included one table of 16 people. We were passing through and looked for a good local spot. Man we hit the jackpot. The food and service was spot on! And when they say they have award winning wings, it's true! Nicks has been well known for years. Came in mid day on a weekend, it was already busy. We got seated 'outside', which was like a big tent. Was hoping for actual sky, etc. It was super loud with football blaring and everyone shouting to talk. Got the NY strip, mashed potatoes and green beans. We have passed Nick's many times on our way to Yellow Springs and back home, so we decided to stop and check it out. It is always packed, and to an old salesman, that is an excellent sign for a restaurant. Our waitress, Amber, was terrific. I am always in search of a good Greek Salad, and they have an excellent one here. My wife had the Seafood Bisque, and loved it. It is quite a large restaurant and very comfortable. We look forward to coming back here on our next visit to Yellow Springs. read more

Wow! We were in town to see the lights at Clifton Mill and Yelped "chicken wings", this place popped up. Wow were we surprised how huge this place was and it was hopping on a Saturday night. They were able to seat us quickly and Penny was our server. She was fantastic, making recommendations and refilling drinks quickly. We had the pork rinds which were amazing! I loved the house salad dressing made from green olives (my favorite). We also had the potato appetizer, it was decent, too. The star was the chicken wings, we got both naked and breaded and the sauces on the side. The sauces were all amazing and made in house. Our first visit here. It's in the neighborhood now too. Really kitchy place! Got a nice comfy vibe too. We sat on the patio. There was really great music too. Service was solid and we were well attended to the whole visit. The food was good and arrived timely and hot. My chick got the veggie quesadilla and I got the house club. Nope, we weren't disappointed at all. The quesadilla was chock full of fresh veggies and was nice crisped without being so overdone (you know what I mean). The club was a very nice surprise with a warm toasted pretzel bun and fresh veggies and proteins! We sampled some of Nicks custom cocktails and loved them too. Definitely make sure to check out Nick's if you are in the area. The building is easy to find and from the outside looks like a decent size with plenty of parking, single bathroom stall. The parking lot looked full but we were seated as soon as we walked in (party of 2) the section we were seated in the tables where very close together and the other table had to get up and move from there seat for us to sit and get back up. This is one reason for the 4 star vs 5. The waitress was very nice but we did have to wait for our drinks for awhile when seated (water and a diet coke) The prices are great and the serving sizes are huge. Here is what we ordered, thoughts, and prices Appetizer Spinach dip $10.99- you can pick rather pitas or tortilla chips we tried the pitas with the dips and they were very good. Warm, nicely seasoned, a bit crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. The dip was just ok I would not recommend the dip unless you are a huge cream cheese fan. They did season the dip very well but the cream cheese did overpower the dip and the other flavors Dinner Big Nick $13.49- this was definitely one of the best burgers we have had. the burgers are huge and you have to make sure you open wide to get this burger in your mouth and its definitely messy. But worth it. over half pound, hand-spanked Angus burger with tomato, onion, lettuce, and mayo. We did pay extra to get fries vs the chips and the fries where very good (bonus tip order a side of ranch woth your fries homemade and really good) House made chicken tenderloins meal $12.99 I wasn't a fan of the breading or maybe they were in the deep frier to long I am not sure, but the breading reminded me of a crushed up pretzel texture. This could have been my fault though I did order my sauces on the side. Honey mustard which has really good and then spicy garlic which had an over powering vinegar taste. The BBQ was really good. I did have the chips which were cooked perfectly along with a creamy coleslaw. Overall it was a good experience and we will definitely go back and try again and hopefully revise my rating from a 4 to a 5. read more

A friend told me about this small bar with a great patio and good food so we checked it out twice in one week. First we went for lunch and I got the breaded chicken tenders with their house chips....so good! My husband got the buffalo wings and he loved them! We sat at the bar which is small, but it's a really old bar with a lot of character. They have several different beers on tap and a full bar. The next time we went for dinner and I got the pan-fried walleye over rice pilaf. The walleye was hot and huge and the meal came with two sides as well. Very good amount of food for the price. Went there after the Vintage Market Fair. We had been there once a few years before, but since it's not near where we live we had forgotten about it. The food is excellent, as are the prices and the staff. The only downfall is their pizza. My husband ordered it for the first time and couldn't even eat it. I'm not sure what they put in the sauce, but it was creamy. The waitress noticed he didn't eat it and she apologized and told us they really aren't known for their pizza and she took it off if our ticket. The atmosphere is wonderful and beautiful. Even though there was 6 people ahead of us, we didnt have to wait long. The servings are huge! And the food is fresh and tastes like home cooking. I wish I would have had room for dessert because it all looked delicious. We will definitely keep this place on our favorites list! read more

Decided to stop by on a Tuesday night after 7pm, they were busy, but at the end of the dinner rush, so we were able to grab a bar seat. Food is always good, but the fried vegetables and mushrooms are outstanding, they set the bar that I judge ours from. They had fried green tomatoes this time too, breading is different then the other vegetables, it complements the citrus acid of the green tomatoes. They have chicharrons, pork skins, on the menu now too, fantastic. Richelle had the chicken quesadilla, very good and is loaded up so much she couldn't finish it. They are doing different daily $3 drink specials now too. Bar chatter with, Jess the bartender, and other bar mates is fun and friendly. TV are there if you don't like people. Got seated right away but that's where things went south. We were seated on the patio right by a door that was opened at least every 15 seconds by staff and patrons to access the other half of the patio. Normally not an issue but it was 15 degrees out and we were blasted by arctic air every time. It didn't help that no one came to get our drink order or check on us until we asked for our waitress (15 mins). When she finally came there was no apology, and she had the personality of a dead fish. We asked to be moved and the manager moved us to the other part of the patio which was much warmer but we again sat for 20 mins before someone checked on us. She did apologize for missing us and took our order. I got my side salad another 15 minutes later. . The rest of the food came out at the 30 minute mark after we ordered and had been seated over an hour. Things picked up here. Food was very good and the waitress apologized over and over for the wait (not her fault). We may be back, not sure. read more

I had two large group reservations for Nick's in October 2024. I made the reservation almost a year in advance. I stopped by a couple weeks before our reservation to ensure we would be comfortable and they still were prepared for our large parties. The first reservation we came and it was pretty cold and rainy outside. We had a party of 20 people and were sat outside in the patio area. Which would have been fine, but there was no heating outside and was told that they couldn't heat the patio area until after November 1st. This was not what we were originally told by a manager earlier in the month. We spoke with the general manager who did ensure us that the next night when we had 50 people coming, there would be some type of heat to make it comfortable for our guests. We took their word and returned the second night. They did have maybe 5 residential heaters in the patio area, which was not sufficient at all for the temperature. We did reach out to the owner via the website and was told to take our business elsewhere. Well, I will certainly do that and will NEVER return to Nick's for a meal again. It's truly a shame, as the food is pretty good and the restaurant was one of the best in Xenia. Obviously, they don't need people to stop by and eat there from the attitude received from the owner. I will ensure that I tell everyone I know my experience and will not return to Nick's as long it's under its current ownership. read more

We have been going to Nick's for at least 10 years. I don't know why I haven't reviewed it before now. It's where we go when each of us want something different. They have a varied menu where you can find something for everyone. I have never had anything bad come out of their kitchen. The Swiss Nick burger is very good. The breaded mushrooms, frog legs, Cubano sandwich, fish on Fridays, everything is always very good. They had gumbo one day and I tried it. It was also very good. Don't forget to look for your daily specials on the board. It is a great atmosphere. You can sit in the older bar area that has the atmosphere. Or there's another dining area. Or there's the awesome outdoor patio that has been enclosed. But just be aware, there could be a wait if you go at the busy times. We love Nick's. read more

Waitress was good and kept the ice water coming on a very hot day on the patio! We had 9 at the table so it took about 30 minutes for the food to arrive. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food - mine was barely ok. They no longer had the classic pub fried cod sandwich which was a favorite of mine. I got the fish and chips instead but it wasn't the best - Cole slaw - meh, homemade chips - about 10 tiny chips - just ok. There was a LOT of fish but it wasn't hot at all and kind of mushy and slightly fishy tasting. I only ate one piece. Not the best! Next time we stop by I will try something else since the fish was disappointing. read more

We have been wanting to stop at this place for some time. We live in Cincinnati and pass through Xenia every now and then, saying we will stop one day. Today we made time and stopped. Went to the hostess stand and the hostesses were at the bar with their head laying on it. One of the girls got up and asked if I wanted a table and I told her we would sit at the bar. She turned around and went back to one of bar chairs and back to head down on the bar. The other girl never moved. Needless to say I left. Employees should not lounge at the bar especially when a customer tells them they intend to sit there! read more

The summer local Restaurant Week options weren't too exciting this year, but I'm glad we decided to drive out a bit to visit Nick's. We sat on the patio, which is spacious and there was a steel drum musician. I will say the biting bugs were a problem but we were sitting on the edge of the patio by a large flower planter. My guess is that the tables on the inside of the patio didn't have this problem. When ordering, take the "award winning fried veggies" claim seriously. The cauliflower and mushrooms we got were amazing. We were so close to ordering more plus fried pickles and onion rings! Seriously, I might just make a meal of those the next time I come! I also thoroughly enjoyed the pulled pork quesadillas with bbq sauce. They had $3 margaritas the night we came, which were completely adequate considering they were $3. And the brown butter cake with vanilla ice cream, split three ways, was an excellent way to finish the meal! Our server was super friendly and helpful when ordering. The kitchen did forget one of our sides but they boxed it up for us to go. The only thing that was weird is that no one took away finished plates or glasses when they brought more food. So by the time we were at dessert we had barely any room on the table for it with all the plates and margarita glasses. read more
