If Applebee's is in the midst of a turnaround, this restaurant hasn't gotten the memo. On a Sunday afternoon, the place wasn't packed; we had to wait 10 minutes for a table. A lot of open tables, guessing it's a staffing issue. I feel like Applebee's is trying with the menu improvements and drink improvements. Still, the location could prob use some management improvements and a kitchen staff training program, bc a Triple App and a chicken salad shouldn't take over 45 minutes to make when dining in. We also heard the phone ring off the hook, and a few times it went unanswered. The bartender seemed to be the only one knowledgeable and working. Our server kept telling us the food would be right out for 45 minutes.... Three different t times. Yikes. Once our food came out, it was tbh a little subpar, the chicken salad was lettuce-heavy & chicken-light. The Trio App was decent, but the boneless wings lacked sauce. I really dislike leaving bad reviews, but I have to in the hope that someone at Applebee's sees this and tries to reach out to correct these issues before a small town loses another restaurant bc of bad management. read more

After a few months I decided to give them another chance to see if things have changed. No. Had to wait at the front for who knows why. Many open tables, but waitresses not sitting people. Finally got a table and our party of five placed our drink orders. Four soft drinks and one beer. Drinks came but not the beer. Placed our order and waited half an hour to get the food. Waitress apologized and said they were short staffed in the kitchen. Food was good but we were tired of waiting and will wait a long before going back again. read more

I was in the ER yesterday from food poisoning after eating a chicken fajita roll up from this restaurant!

I was here 04-06-25 and 04-09-25. On 04-06-25 I sat down in a 80% empty restaurant and no one came to my table for 10 minutes, so I left. On 04-09-25 I sat at the bar (so in theory it's impossible not to notice me). This helped get service...sorta. I ordered dinner and waited over 30 minutes. Literally three other people came after me, ordered, and received their food before me. I reminded bar tender about my order. She went back and got my dinner. I will be returning to Springfield (business). I will not be returning to Applebees. read more

This Applebee's is the reason why I have created this Yelp account in the first place. When you first walk in you may notice a stale stench in the air, eventually you'll see how absolutely disgusting the place is. I don't think the place has been updated since it was first built. The vinyl wood flooring is all torn up and you can almost not walk around it. The bathrooms were mediocre and made me feel as if I would fall ill just being in the room. The food though. . . The food. I ordered the shrimp taco bowl, (awful choice, I know,) Everything was cold and dry. The rice felt like I was eating sand. The shrimp were far from good for frozen standards. My grandfather, who accompanied me, ordered a standard burger with fries. The fries were also cold as well as limp. Our waitress was also the bartender for the evening. Once we were finished eating it felt as if we did not exist to her. She was on her phone a fair bit and it took her a solid twenty minutes after we finished to come give us our check. I would not touch this place with a ten-foot pole and do not imagine this place will be open for much longer. read more

Persistent low staffing levels lead to long waits even when the restaurant is mostly empty. If the wait wasn't bad enough the cleanliness of the location also suffers. What stinks is we don't really ever get a bad meal from this location it is just impossible to get a table. read more

This location is a convenient meeting point. The restaurant isn't very clean. The service is pretty good. Our waitress was Emma and she was very attentive. The food however is not the best. I worked here about 6 years ago and angel the GM by far the worst job I have ever had she had a "friend" come in and play manager one day and I was scheduled for the morning and was supposed to get off at like 3pm and my replacement never showed up and her "friend" threatened my job if I didn't take the double so I did. The next day I came into work angel was back I get called into the office with the "friend" and she's yelling at me remind you I was 16-17 years old one of my first jobs and the "friend" sitting in the back of the office threatening to hit me while angel was defending him when I was standing up for myself saying "don't speak to my manger like that" all because I let him know that day I wasn't happy with my job being threatened if I didn't take a shift I didn't want, i ended up walked out and quit if you value your time and mental health completely avoid this place all together the kitchen is disgusting and the management is disrespectful AVOID THIS PLACE. read more

Don't order any meat dishes here unless you want a horrible dinner. Three times I've order 3 different cuts of meat and they are tough, loaded with Gristle, horrible sauce (on ribs and not enough sauce and never cooked properly. If you want tender, juicy steak I recommend you go to Texas Roadhouse. read more

My wife and I haven't been to the local Applebee's in quite a long time. So tonight we thought we'd give it a try. Pulling into the parking, I didnt see an excessive amount of cars in the parkIng lot and thought we would get seated right away. The manager took our name and we waited along with 4-5 other couples. I looked around and saw empty tables, but thought they must be short staffed. We were seated after approximately 5-10 minutes. Ok, great! As we waited we checked out the menu, and if your an Applebee's fan, I'm sure there are items you'd find on the menu that you'd like. Me not so much. We waited 5-10 again for the waitress to arrive and take our drink order. I asked if they had any Craft Beer. She said, "I don't know what that is", so I ordered a Miller Lite. We also order an appetizer. My wife's received her soda right away, but I'm sitting with nothing so far. My wife decided to order a cocktail. 10 minutes go by and she asked if we were ready to order. I said I hadn't received my beer yet. She glanced at the bar and said it's not up yet. We were sitting right in front of the bar. How long does it take to open a bottle and drop it off to a table? She took our order and a few minutes later brought my beer and my wife's drink. 15 from the time we're seated we get the appetizer. Over 30 minutes after we arrive, our food is delivered, which I could understand if they were busy, but they weren't. Everyone was moving around at a leisurely pace. It was obvious they were short staffed, which would make me think people would be moving a little quicker to provide quick service. We received our food. My wife had ordered a taco salad. I ordered fish and chips. Her tortilla shell salad bowl was cold, greasy, like it was day old, or at the very least, several hours old. The ground beef in the salad was cold as well. I asked my wife if she wanted to send it back, and she said no. She thought if she could get some WARM taco chips, she'd be fine. When the waitress arrived to ask how our meal was, we told her about the shell and the beef and asked the waitress for some warm taco chips. She said she'd talk to her boss. A few minutes later she stopped by say the chips were coming, but by that time it was TOO late. She apologized. I asked for the manager. Again, a few minutes later he arrived, and I explained. He was very gracious and comped both our meals, which I wasn't expecting. It just seemed from the time we arrived, till the time we left, there was no urgency to serve the customer. We used to eat here a lot; and now I remember why we haven't. Thank you for the comp's, but provide better service in the first place. When the manager FINALLY made the time to address our table, there was no apology, but rather an indirect accusation that we received it! When we were first seated it took 20 minutes before our drink order was taken. We made a HUGE mistake when the hosted brought our drinks to us and we asked what the specials were tonight, she laughed and said "I have no clue I'm the hostess" ad walked off. Service is very slow we received our food 1 hour and 33 minutes after ordering We stopped coming here years ago because of the service and thought we would try again after 7 years of avoiding this place. Went to Applebee's, ordered the whiskey bbq burger, well done, (after waiting almost 15 minutes to be waited on) and asked for Swiss cheese in place of pepper jack cheese. We had our drinks brought to us, and then was basically ignored for next 10 minutes When the burgers (my wife and I ordered the exact same thing), came out, the fries were not warm at all, the pepper jack cheese was left on with one piece of Swiss added ( both were same way) and mine was on the rare side, we got the waitresses attention and told her the problem. She said she would take care of it. Now our burgers were about 1/2 inch thick, the first time, and when they came out the second time, they were barely 1/4 inch. Apparently they decided instead of cooking them longer, they were made thinner (definitely not the same size as first) and again, pepper jack was still on mine with two pieces of Swiss cheese on top. Not a very pleasant evening, would not recommend this place to my enemies! And that wa and is the last time we will patronize this restaurant! Two evenings in a row, Carside To Go left us eating somewhere else. I called in an order and was told that, due to them being busy, the wait would be 25 minutes. Got there after 25 minutes. Left there after 20 more minutes with no food. The next evening, we ordered online and were told it would be ready in 25 minutes. Got there after 25 minutes. After almost an hour - with part of that spent trying to get the refund we deserved because they hadn't started making our food yet - we, again, went somewhere else. I remember when Applebees opened in Springfield. Yeah, it was a big deal. We were all excited. Springfield was growing, a frontier just realizing her possibilities... ha. Well, not exactly, but this restaurant really kick started all the development over in that area... even if it is a chain. My school bus used to go out through the area and it was all cornfields, now it's all box store sprawl. The food is decent. And they have half price appetizers after 10 PM, perfect for groups of people. Hadn't been to the local Applebee's in five years, so the family went out because we had a gift card. The service was super slow. The table was dirty, two of the four plates for the appetizer were incredibly dirty, all of the silverware was dirty. The nachos tasted insanely bland. The steak was even worse. This has to be the filthiest restaurant I've ever been to. The table was dirty as well as the booth and the floor. If my family members weren't so hungry I would of gladly left. Even though it was filthy the waitstaff was amazing. Our waitress was in training and even though she was a bit flustered she made no mistakes she was polite and courteous. Her trainer who was shadowing her was polite as well. The food was decent nothing too spectacular, but made to our liking.
