Absolutely disgusting experience. Staff was rude from the start, refused to give us real silverware, had and then had the nerve to make a 9/11 joke--completely unacceptable, especially since my uncle died in 9/11. On top of that, they threatened to kick us out because "not enough people were eating." Zero professionalism, zero empathy, zero respect. This place should be ashamed. Never coming back.

You can't go wrong with a short stack of pancakes at IHOP, and this location is no different.  Our pancakes were fluffy and golden brown and were delivered fresh off the grill. I was happy to find that the IHOP strawberry syrup is still available; if you've never tried it before, it's yummy and will make you feel like a kid!

How bad can it get? Well GeeZus what is this? I ordered the egg white omelet! When the cook is this bad you never come back!

You tell me what do you think this is...Road kill or the mist expensive th8ng on IHOP menu.

You know what?? I can't be upset with anyone but myself because my experience here the first time told me that I shouldn't had never came back.. First off the server was cool and apologetic and simply doing her job. she wasn't the cook.. Anyways I order the Steak and eggs breakfast that came with pancakes.. My request EGGS over easy. white well cooked. Steak medium rare and pancakes hot and butter not frozen.. Well non of that happen... Eggs came out whites super runny Steak came out looking like someone cooked it on a hot tin roof in the middle of August in the backwoods of Alabama. The pancakes came out just like they always do at IHOP, Luke warm and cold butter that rips the pancake when putting it on the pancakes. Back to the SteakSteak, I kindly let my server know that the Steak didn't look appealing, it looked as if it was tan with no flavor.. So she took it back and came back about 3 minutes later??? Same results but a little more shaded. Anyways I just ask to allow me to pay for the pancakes and coffee...I didn't eat the eggs or steak.. I know that IHOP isn't a Steak house but please don't bring me a piece of meat and tell me it's a steak.. Never again will I endure time wasting of going into this IHOP again... I don't want anything free nor do I want to talk to anyone.

Not a lot of fluff here. It it what it is. I have never understood why a table has to be cleared or cleaned after the previous diners left long before me. The fewer the diners the slower waitstaff seems to get. But I didn't come for fine dining so I was pleased that the BLT and especially the onion rings came out hot with very little wait. I should have combined the sparse BLT ingredients onto one half. I felt like I was eating dry toast. The onion rings redeemed the meal so not a bad meal

In A Tale of Two Cities Charles Dickens wrote: "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair." That's how we felt when we decided to have some American breakfast confort food at IHOP in Pflugerville, Texas. It was an unusually cold Friday night. School was canceled because of the painful cold and plague. We had 3 kids with us all day while we had to work. Nothing sounded better than paying a visit to the International House of Pancake. Três leches pancakes, crapes, chicken and waffles, strawberry French toast. Nothing sounded better after a long cold week and our first outing after recovering from Covid. We also had another family with us. Friends and delicious food, what could go wrong? But life was not willing to award us with the food that built America. When we arrive they had informed us we would have to wait 20 minutes and they may not be able to seat us together. I let them know that we could sit in separate booths or break up the party. After waiting 40 minutes with 7 children in our group they told us they could not seat our party. Not separately and not if we waited. We inquired if the people behind us would be seated and they said they would have to wait. We said we would wait. They said they still would not seat us. We asked why they did not tell us at the beginning or before we waited with 7 children for 40 minutes and they said they, "tried to tell us." When I realized I was not going to have pancakes AND that I was rejected by IHOP... I felt layers of unsettling emotion, a sting of melancholy and confusion, and a great sense of weariness sweeped over me sucking my energy with it. Will my family and friends still love me, I asked myself. Luckily we were able to find a place to eat nearby

We ordered the grilled cheese with tomato soup, chicken and waffles, and the strawberry and cream waffle with Biscoff spread. Before I get to the food, I want to recognize the excellent customer service. Since it was my first visit, I had quite a few questions. The employee helping us was patient, friendly, and knowledgeable. She walked us through all of the flight options, and let us know that everything was made fresh to order, so there would be a short wait. I appreciated the transparency, and when our food arrived I soon found out it was worth the wait. The standout for me was the grilled cheese waffle with tomato soup. The soup tasted homemade, with bright tomato flavor and generous chunks of tomato throughout. It was fresh, and absolutely delicious. The grilled cheese featured a flavorful muenster and provolone instead of the standard cheddar you find everywhere else, and the waffle itself was crispy on the outside with a perfect gooey cheese pull. My friend enjoyed the strawberry and cream waffle with Biscoff spread since I'm not a huge fan of Biscoff. I did try the strawberries and cream, though, and both were excellent. The strawberries were fresh, sweet, and firm, while the cream tasted rich and homemade. The chicken and waffles were outstanding. The chicken was crispy, juicy, and well seasoned, and the waffle had a wonderful texture: light and airy inside with a crisp exterior. It was served with syrup and a remoulade-style sauce. The restaurant is clean, welcoming, and thoughtfully decorated with fun murals, word art and nods to Round Rock. For a first visit, Waffle Love made a fantastic impression. The next time I'm in Round Rock, I'll be ordering another waffle flight, probably the same 3 selections, just without the Biscoff spread.

Parking is pretty easy: a good amount of parking on in a small lot and on the street, but there's always available spots due to the low amount of traffic in the area. The place is small with only 6-ish tables, but again, not a lot of traffic, so there's usually a few tables available if you're dining in. The staff is super nice and friendly. They have a nice variety of tacos, with a bunch of classic and modern versions. My go to order is the Al Pastor, Barbacoa, and the chips and salsa. The Al Pastor is one of the best versions I've had, with pineapple chunks enhancing the flavor from the crispy pork. The barbacoa is tender and fatty, an big punch of flavor. The red salsa that is super spicy as well. A bit too spicy for me, but has wonderful flavor. This place is looking to be our newest default taco place.

John passed away in early 2024, while his family took over the shop in Pflugerville. Now just about a decade after opening shop, Brotherton's is closing down at the end of August. Following John's passing, they've hit a few road bumps from the rising cost of beef that's been plaguing Texas BBQ. Earlier in January they posted on social media how they were struggling, and again last spring. At the start of August, the Brotherton's family announced Brotherton's Black Iron BBQ in Pflugerville was shuttering for good at the end of August. Knowing this would be the last time I would be able to try it, my buddy and I took an extended lunch break on a Friday to give it a shot. Upon arrival at just around 11:50, we noticed that the parking lot was packed with multiple food trucks and other businesses filling the shopping center. We got lucky with a parking spot far away as we marched inside to wait in line. On the door lay plenty of stickers from different BBQ joints from Texas and beyond, with even some coming from overseas. The line moved slowly but surely, and as we got to the front we got our three-meat plate with a bonus slice of turkey for good measure. We ended up getting to Brotherton's at the perfect time because we got the final slices of brisket on that glorious Friday. I'll share my thoughts on everything we tried: Brisket: Though it looked like a great cut that was nicely seasoned, it was pretty fine overall. Nothing remarkable about their brisket while still very fatty. Jalapeño Cheddar Sausage: Juicy, cheesy, not really too spicy on the jalapeño side of things, but that might just be from the mildness of jalapeños these days. Pork Ribs: These suckers looked incredible from the pictures I saw online and on social media, but they were kinda disappointing based on how incredible they looked visually. They were good, just not as epic as I was hoping. Turkey: Turkey is underrated in the BBQ scene, and this is no exception. A nice cut of meat! Cornbread Casserole: I could've eaten the whole thing myself, so it was a shame that we were sharing. Green Chili Mac and Cheese: I'll repeat myself. I could've eaten the whole thing myself, so it was a shame that we were sharing. As a whole, I'm very glad I gave them a shot before I would never be able to again. That's the hardest part about Texas barbecue. The best places and the historic spots can drop in a moment's notice when hardships hit or the meat prices skyrocket. Sadly, I can tell that they're already at the end of their rope with certain menu options like the loaded nachos and baked potatoes, which always seem like the sign of the end. And with how the food was simply just decent overall, it's hard to justify the rising prices. I see reviews all over saying their quality has fallen off year after year following JMFB's passing, and it makes sense: he was the heart and the soul of the business. When that vaporizes overnight, it's only a matter of time. I don't wish for the downfall of any spot, but I understand that it's bound to happen to certain ones. RIYL: Paying respects to one of the greats in Texas BBQ

My…read morefriend, who was building out the reservation, asked why we would need to be there for three hours, from 6 to 9 pm, before our next plan on our itinerary. By the end of the night, when we were rushing to make it to our 9 pm event, she understood. Whiskey Cake is one of those New American craft kitchens that has a great bar and consistently great food, even if it doesn't immediately blow you out of the park. I drank a few drinks here, starting with their Texas Barrel Aged Old Fashioned, made from Still Austin Bourbon, a honeysuckle liqueur, vanilla, and orange bitters. A really strong but full-bodied cocktail with a lot of great flavors at play. I drank a local Austin beer on tap that I'm suddenly blanking on off the draft, and ended the night with a Montucky Cold Snack combo with a small pour of bourbon (maybe 1792, don't quote me). We only ate appetizers and sharables while at Whiskey Cake. I'll try to run through everything we had: Local Goat Cheese Fondue: A uniquely sharp experience. The bread was fantastic, but I'm very particular on my cheese and decided goat cheese wasn't for me. Roasted Garlic Hummus: The pita bread rocks, and so did the hummus, which is the actual selling point of the dish. Fries & Friends: Literally a basket of fries and dipping sauces. Not bad at all, but I don't know what you would expect. Deviled Eggs: I can't truly get behind hard-boiled eggs for some reason, but if I don't perceive that it's a hard-boiled egg, I can imagine that these are killer. I really enjoyed this. Charcuterie Board: A little bit of this, a little bit of that. A really excellent collection. The cheddar, the sausage, the cured meats, and the honey were all standouts, and it is probably the best table appetizer to get if you're also getting a full meal. Just little snacks for everyone! We ended the night with some of their Whiskey Cake, which is absolutely delightful and is obviously what they are known for. The waitress that served us was fantastic and timely and super friendly. The atmosphere was generally very nice and led to good conversations and had a solid energy. Ultimately, Whiskey Cake impressed me for what it offers and what it can be. They also definitely got whiskey. Tons of whiskey.

The artichoke dip well presented and good but not memorable. The old fashioned and margarita are excellent. For the main event I had the smoked pork chop. There is not a part of the dish I don't think was perfect. The chop, sauce, broccoli and slaw combined perfectly. I would say come back for this alone, but the tavern burger and chicken sandwich were great as well. The fries are crunchy on the outside and flaky inside. Grilled vegetables are an excellent side. You shouldn't leave without an order of the whiskey cake. "I only want a bite," doesn't exist. If you aren't very hungry start with dessert and add the main dish to go. Whiskey Cake has an exhaustive whiskey list and Wednesday has $7 pours which makes tasting easy. I hear brunch is excellent; I can't wait to try it.
