There were quite a few families with children at this restaurant and it was after 9:30 at night. There was a bit of noise from the children but that is to be expected. From zero to hero because not all heroes wear capes!!! Trinity, a young server at the Lancaster IHOP, is by far the best server I've had in Lancaster and top 3 in all my nearly 40 years! This young lady gets stressed and burnt out like the rest of us do, but you would never know it! She brightens up the room with her smile and helps out all of her customers with kindness, care, and compassion! Can I give you some perspective on how good of a server she is?! IHOP's food is so shitty that I literally only come here late at night or early morning because it's my only option in Lancaster!!! However, Trinity is so amazing as a server and a human that I wouldn't question paying double for IHOP's shitty food (don't get any ideas, IHOP) in order to experience her outstanding service! IHOP, take Trinity, before someone else does because it's only a matter of time, and make her your corporate trainer who's in charge of training GMs and regional managers on how to train their servers!!! And then once we sat down, the food took 45 minutes from point of order. and the food was also somehow cold for 50% of my party. They apologized in advance for the wait on the food but this was beyond my wildest expectation for a long wait on food. Don't order curbside, if they don't have a hostess you will just sit out in the curbside pick up and starve to death. The gravy was fresh from the freezer, they didn't both to heat up or even thaw. Came here today for a family lunch. Menu: They have a decent menu. Our order: Our drink orders were 3 coffees, 4 waters with lemons and a strawberry milk shake. Our food order was caramel apple pancakes, 2 country fried steak and eggs with hash browns and pancakes, and a over easy eggs toast and hashbrowns. Food: The caramel apple pancakes were good but overly sweet for my liking. The country fried steaks were seasoned well and tasted good the gravy was good, none of the eggs were cooked right and they tasted like rubber, the hashbrowns were absolutely atrocious the moment I swallowed them I had to run to the bathroom because they immediately made me puke which is disgusting. Service: The waitresses are polite and service was fast but she was not attentive at all which just made us not want to come back. Ambiance: It's a casual place eat and family friendly. I decided to go here because I was craving a burger and haven't been to IHOP since their supposed transition to burgers. We are excited to find grinch themed menu items even though it's Dec 29th. The burger and onion rings were very tasty, and my son enjoyed his grinch breakfast and hot chocolate. I didn't even realize kids ate free after 4 so our bill was low. Visited on a Wednesday evening just post dinner rush. Was attracted by the kids eat free in the evening. Restaurant was probably a quarter full, not very busy. Greeted and seated immediately upon our arrival. Our server was friendly and attentive. Our orders were taken and drinks brought out. After our drinks were served, our waitress informed us that her manager was making her go on break and that her manager or another waitress would be taking care of us. Now it went downhill.... Our food took forever to come out. I guarantee it was cooked, but not having an assigned waitress our table was forgotten about. After a long wait for breakfast food and with no drinks refilled, another waitress finally brought our food out. Seeing our drinks needed refilled, she brought us new ones. Upon her return with our drinks she made it clear that our drinks hadn't been refilled and our food took forever because OUR server went on break. Well, I didn't request OUR server. I have zero ties or allegiance to OUR server. We just wanted our food served promptly and our drinks refilled. We didn't choose OUR server, therfore we shouldn't be slighted on service because it was OUR server's break time. One star for the service. One extra star because the food was good. This is a very clean well run restaurant, but I'm not crazy about the food. Every time I've been here I didn't like the food, BUT the manager has went up and beyond the call of duty to try and make it right. If you like the IHop menu by all means come in, but if you are not familiar with the IHop menu warning... the menu says the "Red Potato Pepper and Onion Hash" has grilled onion and peppers but it has raw onion and peppers with the fried potatoes. Not good. And the "Sirloin Steak Tips" are marinated in a sweet sauce that in my opinion makes it taste like they have been cooked with the pancakes. And the omelettes have pancake batter in them. Weird The Boneless fried chicken is tough. This restaurant has lots of parking in safe neighborhood, good staff with great management. Almost forgot! Took about 5 minutes for someone to realize we were waiting to be seated. Our server admitted twice that he forgot about us. That said, prices were good and portions were large.
