I'm not an IHOP fan because, usually, service is awful. This IHOP is the very pleasant exception to the rule. The staff is friendly, attentive, diverse, and good at what they do. The good service makes the pancakes taste better too. The only down-side: they seem to have a fountain soda issue - all the sodas there taste flat. Even after sending the drinks back once. However, I'll deal with that if I can have good pancakes and good service! read more

They are great here. I dropped my wedding band and thought I may have done so here. They tore the booths apart and let me review all the security camera footage to see if another patron may have picked it up. Aside from that the food is good and I have only had one server of many who did not meet my expectations. They're all cheery and seem to enjoy the job. read more

Wow the Reviews here are awful! I must have come on a good day. It's IHOP, the food will be what you expect. I have been to multiple IHOPs and the food is always consistent. It's breakfast. How hard can it be? Don't go in there ordering fish, burgers, or any other NON breakfast food and expect greatness. Order eggs, toast, pancakes, and call it a day. Our server Jean was a rockstar. She was super nice, attentive with water refills, and she laughed at all my stupid jokes (always a plus). She did make a few small errors but like all rockstar servers was sincerely apologetic with lightning speed fixing skills. She's human, tiny mistakes happen. She was 5 STARS! However....... I can't give IHOP a perfect score because of its value. I believe it's WAY overpriced but oh well I only go on rare occasions otherwise I'd go broke over eggs. I love how they give you your own coffee pot because if you're anything like me, I crush coffee fast! It's my crack what can I say? Visited this particular one Aug. 3, 2015 at around 12:30pm....Surprisingly it was not crowded at all since it was lunch time...It was a party of three and we were seated promptly. First of all, the coffee served in a carafe was nice and hot and also delicious. Many places serve coffee that is very weak but at this I Hop the coffee strength was perfect for me... One person in the party ordered an omelette and I and the other person ordered club sandwiches. The orders came out perfectly as one person ordered their sandwich on toasted wheat bread where as I preferred white toasted... I ordered fruit along with my sandwich and the other party ordered french fries... When the orders came my fruit was fresh and tasted great...The other person who ordered fries had so many on his plate he could not finish them all... The sandwiches were prepared perfectly with just the right amount of mayo, lettuce and tomato in them....The bacon was to die for, nice thick slices, not those thin slices you normally get and the amount was plentiful...My only gripe was a true club sandwich should contain sliced turkey and I don't remember tasting any in my sandwich but the sandwich itself was still very enjoyable.... I love french fries but opted for the fruit and glad I made that choice because if I had eaten some I wouldn't have been able to finish my sandwich which I thoroughly enjoyed. Besides the fruit tasted much better than the usual fare one usually gets with freshness being the key... A refill on the carafe was welcomed and came with coffee piping hot and again delicious... I look forward to returning there and sampling some of the other items on the menu... And our waitress was great and did not pester us but checked on us just enough so we could enjoy our meal without those constant interruptions.... read more

Worst experience ever and this is coming from myself that works also in the retail food service industry. Ordered online and food was to be picked up at 12:10am. Food wasn't ready till 1:15am and I was there at 12:12am to pick up the food. No updates on what's was going on and there was only myself and another customer also waiting. Couldn't even find the host/waiter to even cancel my order for my refund so that I could save myself the misery of going back home. Just plain terrible experience. Someone in management or corporate needs to do a mystery visit there. read more

IHOP was clean and the food was what to be expected. However, the customer service was exceptional. I came in with my 15 month olds and left the bottle at the table. When I called about 20 minutes later, they had the bottle and brought it out to my at when I pulled up, so I didn't have to unstrap the baby and go in. I REALLY appreciated that. I typically do not like to review chains like this, but... I've been off the grid for a bit (my yelp was down, or it was my phone) and this Ihop left me eh, disappointed. This location was very slow, nothing wrong with that. They sat us right away... although the greeter seemed a little confused as to where to put us. We were headed to one table, and the manager, while sitting in a booth sipping a soda, shakes his hand at her and motions 'not here'. We make a quick turn and find a table. Our server was very pleasant. We order and wait... moments later she returns to say that they do not have any chicken noodle soup. Uh! Really!?! It's an every day option on your menu. And well, that is what I wanted! Anyways, I opted for the potato soup, which turned out to be just fine and very filling. My love had the BLT with onion rings. He seemed to enjoy it. The place probably could use a good wipe down. The table had pink stains all over it. and the menu was extremely sticky. Overall, it served our needs for a quick bite. read more

Arrived and was seated right away. The reason why I am giving this location a low rating is they messed my milkshake order. I ordered a milkshake with no whipped cream and it arrived with whipped cream. Service is very slow and waiters barely updated/checked on us about our food. I came here with my husband and right when we entered the restaurant, it took a while for us to get seated for some reason. Then when we got seated, we had a really friendly waitress (which was probably the only good thing). The waitress gave us a lot of time to order the food which was nice but when the food came out, our waitress just stopped checking up on us. We wanted more water but our waitress was nowhere to be found... About the food.. when my husband and I got our food, it was ALL cold. We opened our silverware napkin and realized that our utensils were still dirty too but hey.. our waitress was never around to get us a new set of silverware. My order is consistently inconsistent when I order to go from here. I always order the pablano omelet and the majority of the time I don't get the salsa I've purchased or the avacado slices that come with it, the sauce on the omelet is either missing or substituted with cheese, and the pot roast like beef is either barely there or over cooked. I keep ordering because I've had it when it is great, but the last three orders have gone downhill enough for me to stop going. Today I got a "pablano omelet" that had cheddar cheese melted on top instead of the sauce, was missing the salsa, and the regular beef was substituted for pastrami. I know keeping staff is hard these days, and I feel for the businesses, but I can't keep spending my hard earned money on something that is wrong or underwhelming. read more

For an IHOP, this place is okay. It seems bigger and less claustrophobic compared to the location on 610. Still really crowded. There are major issues with the flow of incoming customers, those waiting, and those waiting to pay. The traffic flow kind of crams everyone in one area and causes much confusion. We came on a Sunday afternoon and of course it was crowded. For a party of 2, we didn't have long to wait and were seated at a clean booth, quickly were attended by a waitress and given drinks. The people who shared the booth behind us were awful. Kids constantly screeching, standing up, hanging over the booth and like pushing it into me. If that's even a thing. The booth back was loose and I could feel it push into me every time they leaned back. Also, kids behind us had an annoying ipad on full blast with some squaking/screeching annoying selfie video. I know this isn't IHOP's fault, but if you are looking for some peace to have breakfast and maybe do your crossword, you aren't going to find it here. The staff did do a good job of constantly sweeping the carpet though for bits of debris. Our food arrived promptly and was made to order. Weekday around 9am not busy :) Kids eat free on Tuesdays 4-9pm. 2 kids per adult. Drinks not included. Place is as one would expect. It's IHOP, just like a Denny's. Food is good and priced reasonably. I like going there strictly for breakfast. Although I've ordered off the lunch and dinner menu. Service was really good there. I forget the waitresses name but she got my hash browns cooked exactly the way I wanted from the cooks. It was awesome. My breakfast was perfect. AWEFUL service. Waited 5 mins to be seated so the host could finish his conversation with his buddy. After asking a busboy to seat us the host told me it's ok if I wait 30 seconds. Mind you the place is empty. He puts us on the furthest booth in the place and asks for our order right away. When I said we need to look at the menu, no one came back for 10 mins until the lady wrapping silverware at the table behind us finally got up and took our order. Never again. I recently moved to this area & had no idea there was an IHOP a mile away from me. I was excited, until I went in with some friends and got served. 1st of all, they served us all a small amount of food then what the meal should actually be. I ordered the usual, "Breakfast Sampler". The waitress then tells me they don't have ham and that I could either get extra bacon or Sausage. I told her extra bacon was fine. When the food gets to my table about 5min later with all of our meals, the plates look empty, I literally only got 1 extra piece of bacon, then I ask the waitress for the bottle of ketchup because that's what IHOP usually have in their restaurants and just when I thought I saw it all, she gives me a bowl with a couple of ketchup pouches. I was so disappointed on how they ran that IHOP restaurant. Maybe if they just took their time to cook full meals instead of skimp 5min meals, I wouldn't have left there with an empty stomach. I ordered a pancake combo with NY cheesecake cakes, scrambled cheese with American, and butterflied sausage. The elder lady taking my order at the front of the house moved rather slow, but I didnt mind because I was super early for work and I could tell the cash register was not her normal position. Another woman assisted with placing my order and even though it took a while to come out it was HOT, fresh, and 100% ACCURATE!!!!!!DING DING DING ! Extra points because most restaurants often fail to include items in take-out orders (I'm talking right on down to the butter, syrup, utensils, and napkins) yall!!! This review is strictly in regards to COVID in person dining. My husband and I typically go here and do like the food and experience. Our waitress today had her mask on, but it did not cover her nose or mouth. I found this very concerning when she was handling our drinks and food. I know it's a lot to wear a mask for long periods of time but did not feel comfortable at all. I myself am pregnant and felt so many people were out at risk because she was in contact with so many people. There was another wait staff person wearing their mask in the same way, but others were wearing them properly. I think management needs to enforce the proper use of face masks to ensure guests' safety. read more

came here because we had a doctor appointment near by and the chick fil-a was packed. it's an IHOP with the personality of a waffle house. So, it didn't disappoint. Our server was friendly enough, but you could hear the server's conversations which were really funny. the food was fine. The service is good here, EXCEPT at checkout time. There is ALWAYS a huge wait at the cash register. Management always seems to be oblivious to the inefficiencies associated with checkout, at this location. No other negative, comments, however. I am providing a copy of my email to management. Rosie, I am Mr. Harnett. My wife and I had an exceptional experience at one of your IHOP restaurants. We normally drive to the Fettler location for breakfast on Sundays for morning dates every now and then. My wife prefers this location even though the Hoadley rd. location is much closer. Over the years we had gotten used to sub par service at Fettler but we love the food so much we just continued on and just made mental notes of it. Much to our surprise on March 3rd we noticed an uptick in service there. The staff was moving in unison and work like a well oiled machine. Everyone was covering tasks that they may not have been personally responsible for. The service timing was spot on, water, seating, delivery, checking and re-checking the customers was outstanding. I am a former restaurant manager. I used to work for Friendly's Ice cream Restaurants. I graduated from the management program as the First and Only manager to receive the Friendly's $ilver Dollar Award. This award had never been given to a manager trainee in the history of the firm. I take customer service seriously and I have no shame in saying that your staff, led by Susan Mill, Kelvin and Randy were doing a tremendous job with the staff members there. Please let them know that they have been noticed and that they have restored my and my wife's faith in the hospitality industry. read more

So I places a pick up order and there website said a specific time. I get there 5 minutes after the time posted for food to be ready. And there's no one at pick up desks. I asked an employee is can someone help me at pick up desk. One employee after another. Says someone will be right there. I waited. So 10 minutes go by still no one. Now at this time customers eating there wants to pay out and leave. The line is long for customers that want to pay and leave. And finally a manager comes to help ting people out. I say plz where's my order for pick up. She just says sir your going to have to wait. I said I have been. Her reply to me was. I don't know what to tell you. OMG! Really! I said cancel the order. She said you would have to do online. So I get back home and you can't cancel the order you paid online. Now I'm really mad. She misinformed me so she didn't have to deal with my complaints. If I could give this place a 0, I damn sure would! This is my second review on this place. The first review is from years ago and still NOTHING has changed. Below is the email that I sent to the DM and GM. My experience was so bad that I could not wait until the next morning to send them an email and stayed up until one in the morning. I will say though they did respond back very quickly and I will be talking to them later on this afternoon. Warning: the email I wrote is really long lol. Good Morning Rosemarie, My name is Deedee and this experience I had at your IHOP location in Dumfries was so horrible, I had to email you immediately and this could not wait until the morning!!! I firmly believe in given places a second chance; sometimes even a third, but there's NOTHING in my entire soul that will get me to step foot back into that location ever again for a third time! First, I tried to call in my order twice, but the phone lines were busy. Called the third time and I was able to get through but the phone just rang. Alright cool, that's what online ordering is for. Place an online order and and received a confirmation email that my food will be ready by 11:09 PM. A little off topic, but the website should be updated so that you can customized the combos when it comes to your meat choice (turkey bacon or sausage are not an option for a substitute). Arrived to the location and there were four young gentlemen in front of me paying for their food. You could tell The employee behind the counter (didn't get her name but light skin, heavy set woman possibly late 30s) was already beyond agitated by the expression on her face. By the time she got to the third guy, he stated that he was charged for applesauce and he didn't order applesauce. She took his receipt and went over the order of what he did order. Long story short she told him that "it was only a $1". All he could reply back was, "yeah it's only a $1". I'm not for sure if that was her tip or what but after he left she looks up and pops her lips and says, "does he not understand we only get paid by the tips!" And rolls her eyes! But wait it gets better! She says this to me and his FRIEND (the fourth gentlemen that hasn't paid yet!!!) I couldn't believe it. In all honestly, I honestly believe the guys didn't say anything back because they were all military and were trying to be respectful and not make a big fuss. I understand that her pay may not be all that great, but that's something that you take up with your manager, HR, or don't work there PERIOD! Continuing on with the story, the gentlemen leave and I approach the counter. She continues to finish stapling receipts and putting them away. She does not greet me nor make eye contact but just says, "what's the name on the order?" I gave her my name and told her it was an online order. She looks confused and says she doesn't see anything there. I told her I have the confirmation and the order was suppose to be ready at 11:09 (it's about 11:15 at this point). She shrugs her shoulders and walks off to the kitchen lol. All I can do at this point is do a little chuckle and sit down and just put my head down to say a quick prayer because it's been a long day, I'm tired, and I just want to enjoy my food. From the kitchen all I can hear is her yelling, "Do you have an online for (my name)!" She does this at least three times and each time each cook is replying back "nope!". Nothing but laughter and outside conversations are going on smh. She yells and asks a fourth time to another cook and he says it should be ready. She finally brings out my food and I ask for ketchup. She said it should already be in the bag but of course it's not in the bag. NOT ONE TIME, did I show any anger or attitude towards her even with the bad customer service! Even said thank you to her once I received my food and she gave me ketchup and she still didn't open her mouth to say you're welcome or have a good night! What makes this even worst is that I already had a bad experience with this location before and wrote a Yelp review! That was years ago but obviously nothing has changed! Coming from experience in being a manager in sales and customer service for over a decade and military background, I can honestly tell looking from the outside this starts with management and trickles down and it's needs to be fixed or this place will continue to get bad reviews and eventually shut down!
