I am providing a copy of my email to management. Rosie, I am Mr. Harnett. My wife and I had an exceptional experience at one of your IHOP restaurants. We normally drive to the Fettler location for breakfast on Sundays for morning dates every now and then. My wife prefers this location even though the Hoadley rd. location is much closer. Over the years we had gotten used to sub par service at Fettler but we love the food so much we just continued on and just made mental notes of it. Much to our surprise on March 3rd we noticed an uptick in service there. The staff was moving in unison and work like a well oiled machine. Everyone was covering tasks that they may not have been personally responsible for. The service timing was spot on, water, seating, delivery, checking and re-checking the customers was outstanding. I am a former restaurant manager. I used to work for Friendly's Ice cream Restaurants. I graduated from the management program as the First and Only manager to receive the Friendly's $ilver Dollar Award. This award had never been given to a manager trainee in the history of the firm. I take customer service seriously and I have no shame in saying that your staff, led by Susan Mill, Kelvin and Randy were doing a tremendous job with the staff members there. I work for doordash, and this is the second time I've come to this IHOP and had to wait almost 30 minutes. I've been at the front for almost 25 minutes now and no one has said anything to me or came up to the counter. When I ask them about my order they act completely confused as if they have no idea what I'm talking about. My rating has gone down twice because of this IHOP. The phones ring and no one comes to answer it, they just walk by and let it ring. it's not busy at all. There's no reason why people should be standing around waiting to be seated or waiting for their food for this long! read more

As soon as we walked in, one lady (she seems supervisor or manager she was dealing with the people who was waiting a pickup orders) walking towards to dinning area facing her back toward as, but the when she heard the door opened she turn around stared at us with uncomfortable/unwelcoming look and didn't say anything at all. I thought to myself this is weird why would she looked at us like that not even acknowledge us say hi or someone will be right with you. So we stood there while waiting for someone to come to sit us. The food was ok nothing really to get excited about. The orange juice on the menu said freshly made, but it tasted like powder orange mixed with water didn't test like fresh to us. But our waitress was nice. We got our drinks and food in reasonable time so we left 30% tips for $35 food. I gave three stars because we were happy how the waitress treated us. read more

I go to this restaurant occasionally for breakfast. Usually, the food is fine and the service adequate. However, on February 4, around 8:45 am, I had an experience that I want to share with those who may want to drop by this IHOP. The manager, I assume, Yurri, was yelling at one of the waitresses. It was an unnerving situation because it was at the front register. The argument involved money, about $5.00. Knowing that VA is a right to carry gun state, I feared for my life. Also, to a waitress at IHOP, $5.00 is a lot of money to forfeit. I would strongly recommend the owners removing Yurri from their organization. read more

If I could give ZERO STARS I would! The food here is never prepared correctly. Our waitress Sonia got our meals wrong after we were specific. My eggs were cold and had avocado in them, we ordered strawberry banana French toast and received mostly whip cream and bananas with one small strawberry each and the French toast were not done they tasted like soggy bread. Instead of fixing what she got wrong Sonia offered to give us something we did not ask for. We substituted grits for hash browns and the grits were burnt and crunchy when we told her she said she wouldn't remake them and we could get hash browns which is what we substituted for in the first place. Because we asked for a manager Sonia never came back to the table again. She was extremely careless never checked on us and avoided us during our time here. They would rather compliment your check than to remake food. I came here to EAT, if I wanted to be unsatisfied I wouldn't have come. The service was also horrible. read more

Had breakfast with my grand daughters. Food and service were okay. Paying for the meal was beyond absurd. 1. Server would not take payment when she presented the check at the table. 2. Got in line behind 8 other people at the register. 3 Only one person taking payment. 4. Each transaction took way longer than reasonable because the cashier had to constantly log on with fingerprint recognition software. 5. 20 minutes of my life wasted. read more

We live locally and won't be going back. The breakfast took 40 minutes to arrive in a mostly empty resturant. Food was barely warm and the pancakes were cold. Sent them back for warm ones. The scrambled eggs had a strange taste, neither my wife or I finished them. We ordered our bacon crisp but it can so under cooked the bacon fat was clear, we left it. After the long wait we did not want to wait another 40 min. To ad to our disappointment we had to wait at the check out counter for 12 min to pay because the cashier was too busy taking phone orders even though we were first in line. 5 other folks behind us all complained about the poor service and the wait to pay. I've never in my life posted a review but I just had to get it off my chest, I came in with my girlfriend and there were about 3 waiters and the guy that served us was really friendly but there were 2 family's in the whole restaurant but yet we wait about an hour for our food and all I got was the sirloin steak, JUST THE SIRLOIN STEAK. The meal said it came with garlic bread, broccoli and mashed potato but yet I waited an hour for just the steak that was so salty, I could've preserved a mummy with the amount of salt that was in it, but good thing I had my 2 pancakes to make up for it, WRONG they were soo dry the syrup would just get sucked in and never seen again. Moral of the story save your money folks go somewhere else read more

I had probably the strangest dining experience of all time at this IHOP location, truly shocking honestly. I've been meaning to Yelp about this for awhile but chose to do fun activities instead as Yelp took away my Elite status so I'm not as adamant about helping their review site have great content. Yelp- you ain't loyal. It was a group of around 5 of us, and we came here to get some stoner food after attending a Wiz Khalifa concert. Our service began with a little old lady who had a seriously bad attitude. She was very cold, rude, and simply unfriendly. She didn't even introduce herself or give any type of lead-in to ordering so we all kinda stared at her for awhile and she stared back and it was just super uncomfortable. We all tried to remain unbothered, as it's IHOP, afterall, and I sure as hell wouldn't want to be there that late either (especially at 90 years old, if not older). I always try to empathize and thought that maybe she forgot to put the arch supports in her easy spirits that morning. The real drama began when one of us asked her if we could substitute a meat for an extra egg, or something of the sort. She gave this evil glare like we had stepped on her freshly mowed lawn and said, "That's not kosher." Ok, so no? Or is that a personal preference? "I've substituted it before," he said. "No, that's not kosher." Alright, no substitutions. It was at this point our highs started to wear off and we realized that we were truly dealing with a Satanic old hag. "You've been rude to us this entire time, can we just get another server?" Queue her ranting to the manager about how much we suck 2 feet away from us as if we couldn't hear. Queue us staring at the manager like "are we on MTV's boiling points?" Of course, we had to chime in with the correct version of the story, as you aren't going to tell a group of 5 past or present service industry workers that they don't know how to treat wait staff. It was kind of funny, because the manager had no idea how to address the situation as it was so off the wall. LOL (Lil Ole Lady) attempted to block the new server from giving us our food and threatened to call the cops. WTF? I'd say stick to the Waffle House nearby, we all know it's way more delicious, even if less sanitary. We only came to IHOP because they were packed...don't make the same mistake. This is the worst ihop I have ever visit. I was not offered a menu to even place my order. And then the waitress took my order it came out incorrect, she asked me did I wanted it re made. I replied yes. She told me don't be nasty after that, I just refused for her to bring me anything else. She has been rude since I have sat down. Went at 3:30 pm on sat, June 9th. The whole restaurant was dead and there were no employees anywhere, but I could hear employees talking in the back. Went in with my family (11 of us) at 11pm. Had to wait 20 min for a table. Not sure why, it wasn't busy but fine. Finally got seated and waited about 10 min for our drink order to be taken. About 15 min of waiting I got up to tell one of the waiters to ask our waitress to come over to our table to take our food order. Never came. Meanwhile there are new customers getting their drink orders before us. At this point we have been there for 50 min and still haven't gotten our drinks nor has anyone taken our food order. My husband finally got up to look for the manager to cancel our drink order so we can leave. All our kids were all asleep on the table at this point. The manager asked my husband if we can wait 10 more min and he'll make sure our food comes out soon. My husband told him that are food order hasn't even been taken. The manger did give the kids the shakes in a to go cup since the waitress finally came out with our drinks as we were walking out the door. I can understand if they were busy but they weren't! We ended up going to the IHOP in Woodbridge. They were great and quick!! read more

Good food and fast. Service fast and friendly. But this place seems always short-staffed, causing delays and poor table turnover. Tip your server! Appreciate them and they will treat you with the service you deserve as a paying customer. But be patient bc this place could be managed and staffed much better. read more

I wish I could give no stars. This is the second time my boyfriend and I have been here and had horrible (you might as well call it no) service. We walked in and one server says hold on a minute then another server walks around the corner and throws his hands up and puts his head down like he's not happy at all that we walked in. He grabs two menus and says "two? Come on" He then walks faster than us, stops by another table on the way then puts the menus on the table and walks away. We sit down and about 15 minutes pass as we get overlooked by at least 4 servers and one manager. I've served before so you can tell that they are arguing on who should take our table in the back. A girl comes over says "hey can I get you a soda or juice?" We say we will take a water and before we could even say we were ready to order she walks away. About 15 minutes later a different server comes over and drops off our waters. We wait another 5 minutes and decide to leave and take our business elsewhere. I don't even know how this place stays in business. Everyone on the shift that is working right now needs to be fired. We won't be returning. read more

Seriously the worst IHOP ever. It's so bad that I felt I needed to sign up for Yelp just to warn others. It's not even the food that is bad... it's the staff. Customer Service is non-existent... literally. The staff will stand there and gossip amongst themselves about their personal problems or about other staff members all the while you are standing there waiting to be helped. They clearly see you. THEY JUST DON'T CARE! Double check your to-go order. I ordered extra sides, paid for extra side... yet no extra sides in the bag. I was also missing an order of pancakes. Every single time I order a kids meal and select sausage, they give me Bacon. Every.Single.Time. The food is decent if you can deal with the staff and/or not getting what you paid for. I'm up from orlando at least once a month, but I'm here for the summer. I've been to this restaurant with my dad, a dear friend, or by myself. Each time, the service has been friendly, timely and the food fantastic no matter what is ordered. This morning I was rushing to get into DC. I Went in at 5:00 am at the last minute to order breakfast to take to my dad as he's been staying by his wife's bedside for the last two weeks at a DC hospital. I ordered one for me. The manager had two breakfasts ordered and to me within 7 minutes. AND he brought me my coffee while I waited and not with the order. He sensed I needed the caffeine. This restaurant is near my dads house. It is a wonderful part of the community. Thank you. read more

BEWARE OF UNPROFESSIONAL AGGRESSIVE MANAGER! Placed an order online that was to be ready by 11:04 am. I arrived at 11:05 am only to be told my order wasn't ready. Fine. During the 20 minutes I'm waiting, the manager gets into an argument with another customer over their order. Customer said order was late and was wrong and manager wasn't having it. Cool. Once I gave them about 20 minutes I asked for an update only to find out that my order had been ready when I walked in and was waiting on the counter since. My food is now cold. Amazing. I speak with the manager about this only to be told that basically it's not their fault since the ticket says Jflored. I have my order confirmation showing that I did not misspell my name. It's not my fault your system messed up. I asked for his name because of how rude he was with me and refused to give it to me. I wouldn't have to ask if he and other employees would be wearing their name plate. After going back and forth he finally says his name is Anthony. Not sure if he lied or if that's actually his name but I suggest you think twice about coming here. In a pandemic I understand if you want to eat out but I would look elsewhere so you don't have to add an event with an aggressive rude "manager" and add to the daily stress of life in a pandemic. I asked for a refund because I refused to take the cold food especially after arguing with the manager which caused me to lose my appetite. I placed an online order, it was estimated to be done by 0645, I showed up at 0645, was not acknowledged by a hostess or the person at the to-go counter until 0653. I was standing by the "please wait to be seated" sign then tried to stand in the line of sight of the kitchen, they saw me but didn't acknowledge me. I realize 8 minutes isn't a long wait at all but it defeats the purpose of me placing an online order if you're on the go (in this case, I was heading to work). When the hostess finally came out, she was very friendly. I also really liked how sturdy the to-go containers were. I ordered a breakfast sampler and the container separated my pancakes from the sides. I think the food is consistently the same quality, however the majority of the staff just doesn't seem to really care to be there. read more

Make sure you check your food before you leave. I made that mistake and they skimped me of sausage and bacon, and didn't give me enough topping for my seasonal pancakes. I don't know what in the hell is going on with the staff here but management must suck! Employees are angry, sad upset don't care! And sure as hell not worried about customer service or the food! Wife ordered endless pancakes, only got the initial two it came with. Went in at 0300 AM, and it took 10-15 minutes to get coffee and water. Then after the food was delivered to the table, the waiter did not visit a single time for the next twenty minutes. We got so annoyed trying to get his attention that we just got up and went to the register without the bill. Sooner or later he came over and got it all figured out. This is the last time I will ever go to this location. Out of the 2-3 times I've been, it is by far the worst service I've ever had in my life. Servers literally don't really care about anything which means what beverages you get on the table is all you got. I highly recommend never coming here, ever. No matter how much you are craving ihop. Excellent service all around!! Hostess was super sweet and the server was very respectful and made sure we were happy and kept coming by to make sure we were all good. The place was immaculate clean, every syrup was full to the top, no sticky drips down them. Every table was completely filled up with sugar, ketchup everything and clean. We got seated as soon as we walked in and had our food within 15/20mins. As soon as our food hit the table we heard the kitchen cleaning down all the stuff they used to cook. I would definitely go back without a doubt, we are from Boston and I can honestly say that the service, cleanliness and food were much better here then around our way. Horrible service! My family and I stopped in on a Tuesday (05/28/2013@ 9pm) evening for dinner. The manger Alex greeted us and sat us down. After that each server looked our way and did not bother to help us. At the 20 minute mark we asked for help and the servers looked lost as if they did not know whose section we were sitting in. That was pathetic. When we finally did get service the lady literally said I don't know who your server is, "I'm so ready to get out of here, and I'm supposed to be off." My friends and I went for breakfast this morning and waited around for someone to seat us for over 5 minutes. We decided to just seat ourselves because there was also no sign specifying what to do. A guy came out of the kitchen and, in no way kindly, said that we were smart mouth kids that should wait to be seated. He then went into the back and proceeded to say bad things about us to whoever else was back there with him. We waited a long time and realized they straight up denied us service. Lazy pos. I made a yelp JUST so I could review my experience at this establishment. It all went wrong last Friday, about 9:30 pm. I was just a girl then, full of hope and hunger. All I wanted was pancakes. Me and 6 friends walked into the establishment and were seated promptly. Just as I began browsing the numerous flap jack options I was greeted by a waitress. I smiled expecting the usual "Hello what can i get you to drink" but instead she started our conversation with, " Were you the girl who was just here and left without paying?" Flabbergasted I replied " No I just got here" She then proceeded to say she recognized my face and then asked if I was wearing shorts...which was a bit intrusive. After numerous attempts to assure the prosecution I was not the pancake criminal I was being made out to be, she walked away. Leaving me and my party with so many questions.. Would I get pancakes tonight? Will I get into a good college? Who was my pancake stealing twin? So many thoughts. We sat and waited for about 25 minutes for someone to come back and take our drink orders but I was let down and eventually left. I can only try to put into words my disappointment with this establishment, if you can't tell by this review I was a dedicated custumer and to be accused of stealing pancakes.....the most unholy sin of all....that hurts. After waiting 30+ minutes we had not gotten our food, therefore we decided to leave. Although we stopped on a Friday night, surprisingly it was not busy when we arrived, however, that changed immediately. Because they were badly under staffed, customers were leaving because the hostee did not seat them. Suffice it to say, if you have other options for your dinning pleasure, please consider them before wasting your time here. This place is actual butt now. Waited forever for our food, my waffles were cold, my eggs were very watery, and my dad's french toast was a little cold too. Also, they brought out my sister's mac and cheese late and it was BURNT. I wish I took pictures, but we talked to the manager and left right away. And my sweet tea tasted super weird. I work at a restaurant myself and let me just say everything I experienced here was wrong lol. The restaurant was not busy at all when we came btw. I would say about 4 families were there.
