Not bad, but not great either. The restaurant's ambience is truly modern and inviting. As someone who resides in Dumfries, this is a very welcome addition to upscale dining, and I was greatly surprised by the decor. I've visited many casinos locally and around the country, including Vegas, Atlantic City, Biloxi, Mississippi, and New Orleans, and I must say this restaurant's decor is on par with many of the other fine-dining restaurants. When I arrived at the restaurant, it was not busy at all. In fact, there were only a few people at the bar and another couple who came in at the same time as us in the dining area. While someone would look at this and be very skeptical, I took it as number one. I was coming on a Sunday night around 5:30. Number two, it may be early for dinner, and number three. I could assure you that my food would come out hot. My server was excellent. The service was terrific, which I had heard was the most mixed part of the experience previously, due to staff turnover and inconsistent service levels for a fine-dining establishment. Akeara was fantastic, I mean, truly remarkable, and coupled with the excellent management and leadership of Veronica Keller, they made the dynamic duo who saved my dining experience. Akeara was very well-versed in the menu and sensitive to dietary restrictions when asked about many of the ways ingredients were prepared. She was invaluable and well-versed in preparation methods, as well as in drink pairings and menu options, to ensure we had a great culinary experience. The food I really enjoyed the calamari. It was fried perfectly. The two dipping sauces were fantastic. The rose salad is absolutely a star on the appetizer menu. I was a little skeptical about the crabcake because the way she described it sounded more like a fried crabcake than a pan-seared one. I think had she mentioned pan-seared, I would have likely gone with a crab cake, but I am certainly not disappointed in the calamari, and again, the salad was phenomenal. The steaks were a different story. I think they marinate the steaks, although I got different answers from the server and the manager when I asked; however, the steaks were a great cut. I saw someone get the bone in Tomahawk, which is presented nicely, hanging from a hook, with the Chef coming out to torch butter over the steak and vegetables beneath. I got the New York strip. It was a very, very lovely piece of meat. The New York strip was severely underseasoned. In fact, I had to ask for steak sauce, which is a cardinal sin of any steak restaurant. I think had they used a little more salt, pepper, and garlic to finish the steak It would've been perfect. The cook was absolutely perfect, medium rare. The seasoning was just off. I also got the risotto and short ribs. The short rib was well seasoned, though so much gravy from the short rib almost covered the entire plate of mushroom risotto. Tasty but just a little disproportionate in presentation. The bread basket was terrific, and the honey butter was nice, though the bread had a slight cheese flavor. It was still a really good combo. The baked potato is by far one of the best values on the menu as a side item. It was large. It was hot and fully loaded. The creamed spinach was a little more cream-cheese-forward, and it seemed like the spinach needed a little something else and seasoning, so it wasn't as bland. The desserts were another story: the toffee cake I thought would look like something I would get at Hell's Kitchen looked more like a very crumbly cornbread with ice cream on top. The vanilla ice cream tasted great, but the cake was just OK. The crème brûlée was on another level. It was fantastic, creamy, full of vanilla, and had a great crunch from the Brulé sugar on top. What really made this meal so good was the service. I talked with my server about my dissatisfaction with the two lobster tails: I did not appreciate being told they were pulled from the lobster shell, and they were served cold and rubbery. The server immediately jumped into action, spoke with the manager, and had the lobster removed from the bill. Thank you so much. But what really impressed me was the time that both the manager and my server spent at the table. Veronica was truly a pleasure to meet. As a military officer who has commanded hundreds and been responsible for thousands, she really hit it out of the park with her ability to problem-solve and immediately address issues as they arose. She was very engaging and really a pleasure to be with. This dynamic duo, who've only worked at this location for less than 5 months combined, really made me say I will come back to the restaurant, assuming they may have had an off night with seasoning and timing in the kitchen. If there's anything to take away, the food is OK (3 stars), the service from this dynamic duo was fantastic, and that's why they got the four stars. read more

A girlfriend and I dined at 1609 Prime Cuts at 5pm on a Wednesday, and sat in the section of Shaudine - Food Server (1609). Shaudine was attentive, knowledgeable about the entire menu, and helpful in recommending dishes. Overall, we had such delightful meal experiences. We started with their Oysters Rockefeller, which included 6 good-sized oysters topped with creamy spinach and toasted breadcrumbs. Delicious! For my meal, I ordered the Tomahawk Prime Steak ($130). Although the restaurant is à la carte, the tomahawk comes with a medley of broccoli, fingerling potatoes, and multi-colored carrots. The meat was tender and flavorful, and the table side searing presentation by their Chef was awe-inspiring. Likewise, the steak and vegetables were complemented by tasty truffle butter. My friend ordered the lamb chops, accompanied by blackberry compote. We also shared the Brussel sprouts, which were also quite delicious and savory; cooked with onions and bacon. For dessert, we shared a lava cake with vanilla ice cream... and Chocolate martinis as an accompaniment. The restaurant ambiance was curated and sheik. Large, round booths with nice fabrics, well-appointed details and lighting, and a beautiful bar area with a backlit-lucite bar. A nice steakhouse feel. I would like to leave two recommendations: 1. The Bartender should ONLY tend bar... as the role indicates. Not also act as a server for tables beyond the bar. When those of us dining in the main restaurant order drinks, we have to wait for the bartender to finish serving tables before they can return to the bar to make drinks. That is not a good system. 2. There should be jazz or some other music playing in the background to drown out the incessant noise coming from the casino's slot machines (which are only steps away). Music would help to elevate the aesthetic of the steakhouse, while minimizing the casino noise. The manager did visit each table during our time, which was quite a nice touch. She also gave good recommendations on how to reheat and enjoy leftovers. Top notch! read more

Appreciated the lower volume level even within a casino so we could have a conversation with friends without straining to hear one another. We were immediately greeted at the table by the wait staff, and our server was new and clearly well trained. She was friendly, attentive, and watched cues on conversation lulls and needs at the table. The food was fantastic, and we let the chef know -- wonderful guy! We started with fire roasted artichoke--2 whole artichokes each chopped in half and roasted. So incredibly good and well seasoned. I enjoyed seared tuna mignon, which was amazing and so flavorful. If you like French onion soup, theirs is wonderful. My wife and a friend both had the blackened salmon and enjoyed that. Another friend had the lamb chops and they were so well seasoned. All dishes were ample in amount. We had creme brulee and apple hand pies for dessert and would definitely get again. Wonderful evening, and we'll be back. read more

I really want to give this a better review. We ate at 6pm on a Friday, no reservation. Seating was immediate and our water glasses were filled quickly. The table attendant? Was the best. Never had an empty water glass. Service was friendly but really slow and inconsistent. The server was attentive and accurate sharing how food could be ordered to accommodate food allergy. But I always felt like I was waiting. When a place is busy it is understandable when there are extended wait times, but there were only 4 other tables in our room. One table, seated after we ordered, had different specials explained by a different server. Again. Service was friendly but very slow. Food was not special. The short ribs were exceptionally salty. Risotto was creamy but lacked flavor. The special was Chesapeake Chicken, gluten free and ithoir any adjustments. That was great! But the dish was covered in sauce, overpowering the dish. Dessert included crème brûlée which was also GF and nice but just standard. Good wine menu with reasonable price per glass and standard but not noteworthy cocktail options. I'd prefer to give 4 stars but the price of dishes wasn't what you'd expect for the taste, but staff were friendly and we were fed without having an allergic reaction. On the way home we passed several options that had similar menus that had more flavor and more reliable service. I can now say I checked it Rose's Casino. As a midwestern gal with plenty of Iowa casino experience, this is nothing to write home about. Maybe next year. read more

Wife and I had a really good experience here during a Saturday date night. The food is excellent. Oysters casino, bone-in ribeye, and short ribs with risotto were all cooked perfectly and delicious. The good bread and intermezzo between the appetizer and main were nice touches. Ambiance in a back room was nice. View of the kitchen. Classy space. Noise from the casino floor was a little annoying, but it fades into the background with a drink and conversation. Still, some jazz or a live piano would be a nice touch to complete the feel of the space. Service is my main critique. It wasn't bad at all, but not up to par considering the prices and ambiance. Our server was a little timid, not always knowledgeable of the menu, slow to clear dishes, and forgetful about drink orders and prepping for the next course (I didn't have a steak knife when my steak arrived). Other issues: the runner had to ask who got which entrees, the salt shaker was empty, and the busser cleared the table while my wife was still eating her meal. Again, nothing egregious. Service was fine. But at a place like this, I want the service to be polished. I understand attracting professional servers this far from DC is going to be a challenge, but then the management really needs to be on it. Training, testing, and constant supervision until the person meets the standard. (I didn't see a single manager on the floor, which seems odd for a Saturday night.) Overall we thought 1609 was very good despite the average service. The food is outstanding and worth the price. Even if you have no interest in slot machines, this is a really solid spot for special occasions and date nights. read more

This was our first visit for "date night" and it was a great dinner. The Crab Cakes (2) were the best we have tasted anywhere. Really - gotta try them! The Lobster Mac was good but bland. Salt & Pepper helped. We think they should make it with Smoked Gouda Cheese to add flavor. The Braised Short Ribs with mushroom risotto was amazing! Fell off the bone. 100% having again. The Grilled Lollipop Lamb with blackberry compote was okay. The flavoring was good. Would not get it again. With tip, dinner was about $144. Not inexpensive, but a good meal. Literally every time we go here none of the waiters know what the scallop toppers are. They always bring the more expensive scallops with crab for $60. Why??????? How hard is it to train them on the menu properly. My daughter and her husband went for her birthday and she ordered scallop toppers, filet and lobster tails to go for my other daughter and I. Ambiance was nice, service was great, the food was amazing and the drinks were strong. Highly recommend the ahi tuna poke appetizer, the braised short ribs and mushroom risotto for your main course and the butter toffee cake with ice cream for dessert. (Hubby got the steak and he forgot to share so I can't speak on it but I guess it was that good). Some may say it's too nice to have in Woodbridge but I disagree. I hope they can maintain the quality of service and food because it's really nice to have a fine dining experience close to home. Two stars for the food taste. We booked reservations online for 6 people on a Saturday night and it said 9pm was the earliest... so we did that but the place was empty!! Gorgeous setup and furniture. Got to the table... waiter filled half the glasses of water and forgot the rest. We had to ask for a wine list. Ordered a bottle of red and delivery was very poor and took a long time. Waiter brought the bottle in a chilling tub... for a red. Then left to open the bottle away from the table. Then did not offer a first taste - poured super heavy pours in the glasses. You could tell he has not been trained to serve wine. We ordered the tomahawk steak which says it's delivered by the executive chef but instead the head chef delivered it. Salads delivered at same time as food. Crab legs clearly frozen. Cocktail shrimp okay. Steaks were delivered last - but cooked well & good taste. All extras were cold - Mac and cheese and fries were served cold. Then towards the end of the night, rushed out. They took the water glasses from us while we were still sitting and talking. For a $600 meal, it was horrific service. I was honestly very surprised considering the initial ambiance inside. Will not be dining here again. I heard the food hall is a lot better. read more

My first experience at this restaurant was one to remember. Came with a couple of friends and the food here was amazing. For starters I had some buffalo wings and for my main meal I had the ribeye with mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. Our waiter (Carmen) gave us excellent service and to top it off for dessert we had the cheesecake which tasted great! Peria was totally on the ball without hovering. Then the food happened! The head lettuce salad is big enough to share or eat as a meal. The crab cakes were top tier! And the bread...ooooh the bread *chef's kiss*. Dinner was bone in ribeye, asparagus, loaded baked potato (Chernobyl size). Everything was PERFECTLY cooked. Sous Chef James Richey even came out to see how we were enjoying our meal. We found out he wasn't there when we first went so I'm guessing he's the kitchen saviour for sure. We were seated earlier than our reservation time which was a nice coincidence. The cheese bread and honey butter hors d'oeuvre was so delicious we dared to ask for more than the three slices that came in the basket. When they brought out the second basket, it looked and tasted like a different type of cheaper bread. Not a problem, just a tad disappointing. Our waitress Daly was wonderful. Very personable and attentive to us. Food was AMAZING - we polished all of it. My grandmother and I split a lamb lollipop entree with Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. I can't think of a better word for those mashed potatoes other than Godly. Quite literally the most perfect mashed potatoes known to mankind. Despite all this, it was quite disappointing that we were unable to hear the casino's Friday lottery drawing numbers despite being told we'd hear the numbers. They should make sure anyone eating there on a Friday knows what numbers were called since you only have five minutes to claim the grand prize if your numbers match. read more

I understand this is only a week or so since opening, but as an Executive Chef myself, I found this "Prime Cuts" steakhouse?..very disappointing. !st of all, why is it inside the casino and open towards it? Asked for a booth and hostess said there would be a 20 minute wait; even though we had a reservation and there might have been 5 parties total in there; meanwhile I counted at least 6 booths available. So during that 20 minutes, not 1 booth was filled...smh. Our server Michael, we could barely hear because he talks very low and with all of the casino noise it was even harder to hear him. What I did here was after he took our order that he'd be back with some bread...I'll come back to that later.... Ordered a petite filet for $48 and a loaded baked potato for $10; no sour cream; but whatever. My fiancée's poached lobster looked good and she said was good. My filet...as a chef it's hard to get out; especially on a Saturday and when I do I want a nice filet. When i got this said 8oz filet, I thought they gave me a flat iron steak because that's exactly what it looked like... FLAT! glad I ordered it med rare because 30 seconds longer It would've been well done. CHEF, cumin seasoning...REALLY?!!! 8 ounces $48 for something that looked like it cost $8. For that amount of money, in this type of business/upscale restaurant, I'm expecting a nice thick center cut tenderloin, but instead I got an overly cumin seasoned hockey puck of steak....Potato: had to have been reheated from the day before. Light brown inside, hard inside and out, definitely not fresh; remember, "loaded"; a sprinkle of cheese maybe a 1/2 teaspoon of bacon and a quarter stick of butter. Both of our spuds were old. Oh and I know that you guys cross utilize products throughout the casino, but you should carry coke products, not Pepsi, j/s. ...so that's i....oh...Michael comes back, asks if there is anything else,....um...bread???
