Service was great! Our server, Abigail was very helpful, friendly, and attentive. We basically told her we wanted wings and burgers and asked her for her suggestions. She suggested their BBQ wings, so we got them - They were very tasty! Were they "jumbo" as the menu suggests? Kinda... the drum was, but the flat was basic. The flavor of the BBQ sauce on them was great tho! She also suggested the Girlfriend Burger with a side of their red potatoes - so we got these too. The burgers were great! Spent an overnight in Stafford VA en route to the Carolinas. Found Girlfriend's online and decided to take a chance. The location is on the back side of a shopping plaza that you have to snake through. I'd had my heart set on the crab soup but they were out! Our server, Kelsey, suggested I try their version of Zuppa Toscana, which was amazing! I had a Girlfriend's smash burger and friends had wings with a Cobb salad and a burger with hush puppies. All the decor in this large dining room depicts a New York State of mind. Emily brought our items just as ordered and frequently checked in with us to ensure we were good. They have delicious flavored ice teas and lemonades- we got both mango ice tea and mango lemonade. My salad was uber fresh! My Philly sub was delicious- they didn't just throw cooked meat in bread- they seasoned it really well. I wish the meat had filled the entire bun- maybe next time I'll be back for Happy hour (Mon- Fri, 3PM to 6PM) and lunch (several items for just $10, 11AM to 2PM). Not much ambience to speak of aside from the weird window clings and crystals but the food was surprisingly good. Had no clue this was up on the hill next to Walmart until I got an invitation to dinner here. The name of the restaurant was a little weird, but the menu looked interesting so I agreed to it. When my friend arrived before me, he was a little concerned by the exterior appearance, but I told him the photos of the interior looked fine and that we should give it a shot. We were pleasantly surprised. I ordered the gumbo which was pretty good. The chicken was so tender and juicy. My friend got a buffalo chicken wrap with the seasoned fries which looked pretty good. Our server was very friendly and stuck around occasionally to chat. I would definitely give this place a try again. You still get a hint of construction as you walk in, and there's a sign on the door indicating they're still working on getting their liquor license. This means no beer, wine, or spirits for now--just soft drinks (Pepsi products). Pros: * Service: The staff was incredibly welcoming, from the hostess to the staff. Since we were the only customers at the time (around 4:30 PM), we received attentive service from the multiple servers who checked in on us throughout our meal. * Cleanliness: Everything looked fresh and clean--understandable given that it had just opened. * Atmosphere: A great taphouse vibe with an open layout, a generous bar area, and plenty of TVs for sports. It feels like the kind of place that could become a lively spot once they're fully up and running. Cons: * Food Quality: Unfortunately, the food fell flat. Everything, from the steaks to the sides, lacked seasoning, and we found ourselves relying on salt and pepper to add flavor. - Steaks: Both were underdone (my sirloin was rare instead of medium), and the cuts were thin and lacked flavor. My wife's ribeye was fatty and not what we expected. - Burger: The burger, which was highly recommended, was disappointing. A revamp of Fatty's Taphouse that was well worth it! The self serve tap wall is gone but the interior is updated and more modern. The food was decent with a large portion. Our server Mikey was awesome and handled a huge group super well. He was patient with us when taking and delivering orders. He even helped out when one of our party got her meal and seriously disliked it. I would give 4.5 based on my first experience. My husband and I are foodies so Stafford has not impressed us and we usually travel north or south for good food. However, we thought we'd try Girlfriends since we didn't feel like traveling. It was Sunday afternoon, the service was fine but the food was a bit slow, tasted fresh though and came out hot. We ordered Reuben potato skins because that's unusual and they were pretty good. My husband got a smash burger which was good and the waffle fries were well seasoned. The grilled drunken shrimp were also pretty good, and as part of my meal, offered a lot even though it was an appetizer. We also ordered a side of hush puppies which were plentiful. I think a little too fried but they were fresh and hot. I also ordered a Bloody Mary which was tasty. They have the windows covered so you can't see outside and I appreciate that because you'd be staring at Walmart parking lot or the street. I would suggest in the future they get some lattice privacy fencing up so you can sit outside without again, having to stare at Walmart. Overall, we will come again when we want to go out but don't feel like driving 20-30 min, or want to watch football out. read more

I stopped by this newly opened restaurant for lunch and was really impressed. They have a GREAT deal for $10 where you get a sandwich AND a side. I also got the shrimp skewers and they were perfectly seasoned and really tasty. The food was really good all around. My friend got the Maple Bacon Porterhouse which is infused with bacon and just a little sweetness that makes it a highlight dish. Also, the mashed potatoes were super creamy and light. Everything on their menu sounds delicious and they have so many different options to choose from. The place has recently been renovated and the concept is gorgeous. All the furniture is brand new and the bar area is impressive. The ambiance is great too. I'm sure this spot will be a popular hangout once they get their ABC license. Ambiance is relaxed and inviting on a early Thursday afternoon. $10 Crab cake sandwich comes with 2 sauces to choose from and seasoned waffle fries with their own sauce. The crab cake has very little filler but, a lot of taste! Emily the bartender recommended it and it was good she did! The fries are cooked perfectly with outside crunch and soft inside. The server/bartender was very busy and it seemed like she could have used more help. Here is my very big negative on this place. I should have looked at the price for their Guinness on draft before I ordered. When we got the bill for 4 Guinness it was $48! Yep that's $12 for a pint of Guinness.I have been to upscale places that serve Guinness and none of them ever charge this much. Buffalo Wild Wings which is 1/2 away charges $8.50. if you look on the menu it says $4 off drafts when you come for happy hour. They try and disguise the normal high price of $12 and make it sound like you are getting a great deal by getting $4 off. I don't know why a bar in Stafford, VA thinks they should be selling Guinness at $12 a pint. This is terrible marketing. I am from NY and you won't find a pub or bar selling Guinness for that much. The food was not something to rave about and just average. The alcohol is definitely much cheaper at other places. read more
