This is a verrrrrrrrry busy location, so I really shouldn't complain, but the bathrooms are so disgusting right as you walk in, with only two narrow stalls and no room to move around the people packed inside the bathroom tighter than sardines. Very little space to park--I'm not sure if there adjacent parking lot is a hotel or apartment building, but it's more crowded than a metropolitan city. Service was immediate though, and the staff are nice. The cups are actually clean--a pleasant surprise since my home location never has clean glasses. The food was not so great. My steak tips didn't taste bad, but they were cold despite being brought out within a reasonable time frame. Same with my pancakes. The hash browns weren't bad, but I had the impression this food was sitting out or heated for a short period before being served. Not my top recommendation, but it was filling enough to get me to my next destination. read more

My husband and I decided to go to IHOP after years of not making our way over. And I'm so glad we did! Our server, Angie, was very attentive and kind. She had them put the butter on the side, because I ordered gluten free pancakes and didn't want to presume I wanted butter on them. She was just so sweet with the details! And the pancakes tasted just like the regular pancakes!! I noticed this place didn't have current reviews, so I wanted to make sure people knew how wonderful it is! :) They also sing happy birthday at this location and gave me a special treat for my birthday. My family hadn't been to an IHOP in quite some time, and being that we had a gift card, we thought, what the heck?! It's Christmas Eve, it was cold out, and we could go for some flapjacks. The location itself is in a pretty sketchy part of Bakersfield next to some motels that were being rented out to a rough looking crowd. Besides that, the location is very convenient. As we walked in, the server already knew who we were, and escorted us to the table my aunt was already sitting at with my grandmother. It was in a part of the restaurant that seemed to be more of a covered/indoor patio. I had to keep my jacket on because it was drafty for sure. Lanie was our server and she was fantastic. Took all our orders with a good knowledge of the menu, and got us our drinks pretty quick. The food itself took about 25 min to get to our table, and when it did, about 50% of the food was room temp, some items were warm, and the only things that came out hot was the coffee. Lanie explained to us that where the food sits to wait to be picked up by the servers was not under a heat lamp. She took back the 50% of food to be warmed, and brought it all back and her apology on behalf of the restaurant. Overall, the food items were tasty, my kids loved the various syrups, and there enough to take home. The location of the restaurant gets -1 stars for its location. And -1 for the cold. Besides that, it was a good experience. If we ever go to IHOP, it'll likely be at their location on Rosedale. read more

I didn't think I would ever, but I have to honestly take back my previous review. I decided to return, I'm glad I did! Today was the best! Even on a busy day we were seated and welcomed with best customer service. Our waiter NIKKI was VERY attentive. She definitely has years of experience. We even met Brent the manager and he made sure our food was the way we ordered it. The New management is definitely starting to do improvements. I had breakfast at this location the other day, it was extremely busy and they looked understaffed BUT I surprisingly got really good and fast service. Josh was my server ( pretty sure that was his name) Josh got my drink and my order right away, when my food came there was a small problem with how it was cooked but Josh got it fixed right away. Samantha is awesome!! She made my morning with the smallest thing. I made an online order and it didn't give me a prompt to put in for special requests i.e., extra syrup. So, I called and Samantha told me she would not only add extra for me, but, that she would be able To accommodate me by having my favorite syrup, Pecan, be packaged for me!! Gooooo Samantha!!! Wow busy place for a Monday late lunch...We took the grandson out fir lunch and he chose the iHop...Okay...they do lunch? Seated within a couple minutes of arriving good booth for three. The server took drink orders immediately a couple of lemonades and a coffee w/water The menus are single sheet very colorful glossy placemat size. The pictures of what your food should look like coming out of the kitchen, bettered only by TV I ordered the country bacon & cheese burger w/onion rings. The burger was decent but could have been a heavier patty. The country bacon was good. a thick cut of bacon garnished the burger well and tasted good. T ordered the steak omelet it was big, she ate about half, she said it was a 7 or 8. I saw big and freshly cut chunks of tomato garnishing the top nicely. For the IHOP near Buck Ownens Blvd. 8/11/23 We got there about 9:30 am and were promptly seated and offered coffee. Our waiter was a young man Jacob and promptly took our order. The place and our table was clean and no tears in the cushion. The atmosphere was rather quiet for the number or patrons there. We didn't have too long to wait for our order I ordered a Belgian waffle combo and my wife a short pancake stack. We asked about other flavored syrup and he named them and promptly brought what we wanted the syrup containers were not sticky as we've often seen them at other IHOP's. The food was good. Horrible service, we were a group of 4 with a baby, and were sat at what must have been the most crowded booth in the restaurant. Did not get to ask the hostess to move us since she rushed off. Once the waitress got there we asked to be moved, she didn't even address us once we sat. Just yelled at someone across room "you got them right?" Took eons for the food to get there. Once the food was there my order was wrong, left it alone since it took forever to get the food to begin with. It wasn't that busy when we got there, and it slowed down even more through the course of our meal, which leaves no excuse for us not to be checked on even once, never saw our waiter after he dropped off the food. Customers kept leaving and we wanted our check but never saw our waiter again. We asked the same waitress from when we got there for the check since we needed to leave, she responded with an attitude, and sent someone else our way.
