Went there yesterday and we waited ten minutes just to get seated: furthermore, it took about another ten minutes for the beverages and the server could not even tell me what kind of fish they used for the fisherman's platter. This is the biggest iHop in Athens, GA, not to mention it's right off of the highway and next to a very large Walmart, in a bustling college town. Expect it to be crowded all the time. Service & Atmosphere My visit was no different. The wait wasn't long for my party of 3, but it took a while for our server to greet us. She was as speedy as she could be considering the crowd. She took our drink and food orders at the same time as well. Service-wise I'd give this iHop a solid 4. Food & Prices However, I'm going to have to remove a star for my meal. I ordered my go-to, the Chicken and Bacon Cheddar Waffles. I've had this meal at 2 other iHops and they've both been consistent in terms of presentation and taste. This one was not. Instead of having a Cheddar Waffle (the cheese is normally baked into the waffle), I was given a regular waffle, with a large amount of sprinkle cheese scattered about my waffle. I was also given chicken patties instead of the normal chicken strips that come with this meal. This lack of inconsistency also spilled over onto the taste. I could tell that some of the flavors were lost due to the shift in ingredients / it not being prepared the same way. The people of Athens are definitely missing out on a wonderful meal because of this inconsistency. Price-wise, this meal is the same as the other locations (~$11). I will say that the other members of my party enjoyed their meals. They ordered the French Toast combo and the Chicken Fajita Omelet. Overall I'd say that if you're visiting this particular location, go ahead and order something that has been tried and tested. I'd recommend one of their Omelets. read more

We called and placed our order for pick up. 2 eggs benedict and an order of plain pancakes. The girl walked out and said the one eggs Benedict was cooked and ready but they were out of English muffins they asked what else they could put the other Benedict on biscuit etc. After a 40 minute wait we got home (3 min drive) stuff was missing and the food was ice cold and not good, no syrup or butter. It all went into the trash. It tasted not ok and with the one Benedict sitting out for about 30 minutes, I can only assume that's why. Hope I don't get sick from the few bites I had. For being short staffed, I assume, we were very pleased with the cleanliness, how quickly we received our order and the very pleasant staff. We unfortunately work late hours and very few locations are open by the time we get off. We didn't arrive until less than an hour before close and there were only two employees working. They had 4 other groups already, and two more that arrived after us. We were seated immediately, and my hot chocolate was perfect! Our order arrived quickly and everything was hot, exactly to order and the French toast was delicious and surpassed my expectations. If the server we had couldn't have been more than 18 but he was sweet, attentive and took care to make sure we were happy and didn't make us feel bad about how late we were there. We checked out 2 minutes before close but never felt rushed, never felt ignored and despite one of the other groups that came in after us treating him very rudely, our server remained sweet and friendly. If you're hungry late at night and want real food and pleasant staff, I would definitely recommend this IHOP. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because the prices were pretty high and because whomever schedules their staff needs to work a night or two to better understand their needs. No hiring signs so I can only assume they just schedule barebones at night. read more

I assume IHOP is going out of business. At least the employees are trying to help close it down. We went there for dinner last night and it was pretty much a ghost town. There was one woman working the few tables that folks were at, but it appeared there wasn't anyone else there. We were seated and waited for at least an hour before getting any food. We watched several groups of people come in and then after waiting for someone to appear, they just left. This happened over and over again. We eventually saw someone from the kitchen come out briefly, but got a drink and disappeared into the back. We eventually got part of our food and part of our drinks so we ate and watched even more folks come in and then leave.... Nobody ever came to seat them. When we were ready to leave another woman appeared and checked us out. She maybe was the manager, but sure wasn't working the two hours we were there. If I was the owner, it probably would have been a good idea just to close the doors, because the manager sure wasn't interested in running the shift or wanting to help out the one worker there. The one waitress was very very slow, but she was trying and she was ok. The food was ok, but it was a ghost town and the few folks who came in just left, we probably should have gone somewhere else. I remembered that when I used to come here I would always order the Fiesta Chicken Omelet with Nut & Harvest Pancakes. Now when I come here I always order the Sirloin Beef Tips, Scrambled eggs with cheese, Buttermilk pancakes, and I wash it all down with hot steamy coffee. The Beef Tips never let me down. Cooked to perfection, not too tough and not too chewy, with a sauce that seems to use Worcester sauce as it's base (mixed with something I can't put my finger on). Plenty of sauteed onions and mushrooms with fluffy eggs (oh and I forgot that it also comes with Hash browns). I think I order this b/c I'm never disappointed; I know that it's going to taste great every time no matter which IHOP I order it from :) My server was nice and fast. Our drinks were never empty and he kept bringing me more creamers (b/c I use plenty of them) without me having to ask him. I was also impressed with the upgraded holders for the syrup. They didn't get sticky like the old ones and it made pouring a lot easier. Speaking of syrup you have four choices that you can choose from: Old Fashion, Blueberry, Butter Pecan, and Strawberry. Some may think that IHOP only has great breakfast food but I have heard that the country fried steak will give a 4 Star Restaurant a run for it's money. All-in-All I've never really had any complaints with any of the IHOP locations. Just beware that it's super busy in the morning hours on Saturdays and Sundays. People pouring in to get help soaking up liquor from last night at the club and the rest are either there before or after they go/come from church :) You may have to wait to get a seat, but even when it's packed I haven't found that it takes away from the service at all... read more

I reached back and opened the door again to activate the doorbell. A minute later we hear a annoyed male voice say "I'll be right with you. " A lady who had been waiting longer than us said "I have no idea what's going on here. I've been waiting quite a while for my call in order. " No one ever came up to explain or seat us.
