There was a large contingent of people waiting for seating outside the building and another large group waiting inside. I asked if there was seating at the bar and was led to a solitary empty seat. The atmosphere was raucous. I placed my order after being approached by a waitress behind the bar. After taking my order she presented a basket of four large bun-sized rolls with cinnamon butter which were warm and soft and quite a tasty. I ordered a 20 ounce ribeye steak with a tossed salad and a loaded baked potato. My entree arrive after a wait of 15-20 minutes. The steak was cooked as I had requested medium-rare and it he sides were good. My steak, however was tough and lacked any flavor to speak of. The prices are reasonable but the steak was disappointing, but no more so than most steakhouse chain restaurants. read more

First, I completely understand its Mother's Day. The food and service were lacking. I had a pick up order and watch them tossing orders (mine and others) on table. Had to double check my order (at least they asked me too) because as they were packing it in front of me, they left stuff out that was on the table. Then, they say "we're completely out of rolls" and offer a free appetizer. Found out they told ALL to-go orders they were out of rolls, but served them inside. We won't be back. I also witnessed a bus with about 15 students pull up and then they say "I can refuse service if I want to". You're literally a restaurant... just close if you don't want to work. read more

Thankfully, we joined the waitlist ahead of time, which definitely helped cut down our wait. Highlights: * The rolls were absolutely delicious--as always! Warm, fluffy, and that cinnamon butter? So good. * Our server, Olivia, was really sweet and doing her best, but understandably backed up due to the rush. Our rattlesnake bites came out, two were missing cheese it was just breading. Wrote it off no big deal. Then our critter salad came that we were going to split and we found a DEAD fly in it. Our waiter came back to check on us and I told him I was just gonna be done and I wanted to check. Didn't ring a bell, wasn't rude, or anything. Got the check brought to me along with a new salad to-go that I wasn't going to eat because why would I eat the salad that just had a fly in it. Paid for everything, tipped (now wishing I hadn't) and left. DAYS LAYER I get home and decide well I'm just going to eat the chicken out of the container and dip it in ranch. I get through ALL THE CHICKEN AND ON MY LAST BITE THERE WAS CELERY IN MY RANCH. Didn't order celery. Salad doesn't come with celery. Oh and the peanuts were stale Moral of the story, the food isn't stored properly at this location. Wait staff couldn't care less if you're content or not and don't have interest in making things right. No offer was made to comp the meal or anything. Customer service was good, the bread rolls was delicious. I chose my bone in ribeye steak when I walked in and they charged me $4 extra cause it was 2 oz over the "23oz" menu. I asked for med rare, the steak came out blhe rare, only outside was seared, the steak was dry, no juice or any flavor, steak was very bland also. Would not come back to this establishment. I couldn't even eat more than 2 bites of it, took it home and had to cook it more to my liking and added more seasoning to make it decent at least. To start we had to ask for silverware normally we get our salad right away it wasn't brought to us until just a few minutes before our food got there. My review is a little late but we ate here on Feb 18 of this year. The wait was about 30 minutes and the service was super slow and they were not doing a good job of cleaning the floors (see pic of someone sitting beside us). The food was really subpar for the price and the wait even after being seated was too long. They appeared to be understaffed and unorganized. That being said one of us wanted steak so we took a chance on this location. Highly unlikely we will ever go back. Appetizers: Blooming onion. Free bread - apparently the bread was in high demand this night. Everyone around us was complaining about the length of time you had to wait for bread. It took us about 20 minutes to get bread. This is always a busy location, but we were seated right away, and the service was excellent. The Bloomin' Cactus was tasty but a bit greasy, and the herb-crusted chicken was a little dry. Want to say first we adored our server. She was not the problem at all. We went out for a last minute dinner and waiting roughly 10 minutes for a table which wasn't bad for 7:15 pm on a Sunday. My fiancé and I both ordered steaks. He got a rare 16 ounce sirloin and I got a 12 ounce medium NY strip. Just want to say we were severely disappointed in our food. My broccoli was hard and stale tasting and our steaks were wrong all across the board. My partners steak was blue when he ordered rare. And my steak tasted and looked like the wrong cut. My steak coming out looking like a ribeye and when I asked our waitress she agreed and told me it looked like a ribeye as well. I ordered the strip cause I hate excessive fat and gargle on my steaks, we also waited roughly 35 minutes for our food. The server came back and stated that the kitchen manager told her it was a ribeye. When I told her it didn't taste like one my only option was to keep the steak that I couldn't eat much of due to the excessive fat, or they could get me a different one. I kept the one due to me not wanting to wait 30 minutes for a new steak. My partner did not notice his was blue until he ate a few pieces. He wasn't going to complain, but our server walked by and noticed his was not cooked considering he ordered rare not blue. That's was an easy fix, the server let us know that the manager would deliver his food. When she arrived I wasn't mean by any means, I have worked in the food industry for years. But she was a younger women with black hair and she was insanely rude. She got aggressive with me when I told her my steak was mostly fat and severely disappointing ( also was not 12 ounces). And she snapped back and said that when they cut the end of the strip it can look like a ribeye. I let her know it was still cooked incorrectly and just was a crappy cut of steak. Just annoyed cause we paid 60 bucks for one of the worst steak dinners. Manager: Desiree 8oz filet - medium Brought rare to med rare sent back again, came back medium rare... sent back again then it was "correct." But because it's been cut open again before going back on the grill for the third time it's dried out... once I cut further there is fat pockets in the filet. I showed this to server and she agreed it should not have fat in a filet cut. The manager was involved both times and I think it's a bit insulting that I comes out wrong twice that I expected to pay full price like it was a normal good experience and it was not.. I've always loved Texas Roadhouse and I think it's one of the best bang for your buck restaurants. I've been a consistent customer to this location and the experiences have truly been mixed. The steaks are either undercooked and bland or overcooked and salty. There are times where the perfect steak finds its way to your table but it's few and far between. The service is usually good with college students being the bulk of the servers. I also despise the times they play the music insanely loud and it makes me feel I have to yell to talk with those who are seated with me. read more

When this place first opened it gave me that feeling of being home. I've eaten at many Texas Roadhouses in my day. This one was good. Their Caesar salad is perfect, their steak fries are perfect, their mixed drinks are yummy, the ROLLLLLLS, let's be real we came here for rolls! But no, I come here for the taste of home. The chicken fried steak - or as others outside of Texas call it, "country fried sirloin." It used to be good. I've come here so many times. It was Texas sized, the way it's supposed to be, and now all of a sudden we're getting literal burnt crust with a tiny bit of tough meat inside. My husband tried to cut his and it turned to ashes; I'm not being dramatic. Luckily it was comped and he got something else, but what a terrible experience. Our server was patient and kind, no problems there. Everyone is kind there. I understand there are bad days. But SOMEONE let those burnt dishes come out to us and thought they could hide it with creamy gravy, and that's just not right. It'll be a while before we come back I think. After waiting 1 hour, we asked again and were told 20 more minutes. After a two hour wait the hostess started taking people around us and seating them. One party said, "see we only had to wait 10 minutes." By this time we were angry to say the least. We approached the hostess again and showed her the time stamp on the text that was first sent to us by them. She tapped a few buttons and found us a table. My family decided to go out to dinner as a party of nine. Everything was going well with the dinner until it came time for the entrées to be served. Everyone got their food and it looked great. I ordered a medium flow fillet 8 ounce plus a loaded, baked potato with no bacon and specifically stated I am allergic to pork when my plate came out. The fillet was well done, and the potato had bacon sprinkled all the way across, not only the potato, but on the steak as well I sent the whole plate back explaining that I am allergic to pork and ask them to remake it. By the time I received my redone steak, the rest of my party had finished eating and was ready for boxes. When the steak got to me it wasn't even the correct cut of steak they had reentered. My steak as a sirloin after they got it incorrect the first time I did ask them to refund me my money for the steak and left. I will not be back. Please try to take into consideration people with allergies seriously and that the request may be serious and not just because they don't like the food. My allergy would put me in the hospital for days. Please do better before someone ends up in the hospital or worse!!! read more

I love this place. Anytime I go it's packed but they always take care of me. I rarely have to wait long for service or for my food to come out. I usually get their salads because they're so fresh & I love their ranch dressing. I've gotten their chicken tender plate which came with basically a whole chickens worth of strips for only $11... really nice portions & quality for the price you pay. I've never had bad food or a bad experience here! The staff is always super friendly and attentive. Skylar was so polite & was always one step ahead, one of the best waitresses I've ever had! I have never been here on a busy night or anytime in general with a large group however, so I can't comment on that but I always am seated & served very quickly. Ok so I don't like chain restaurants. I moved from NY 4/2020 where they have the best restaurants. I've tried just about every decent restaurant in Athens. My daughter and her boyfriend go here. Tonight I didn't feel like cooking so we came here. The parking lot was packed but we got a spot and were seated right away. They gave us the famous rolls which earn their reputation. Our server Annie in the bar area was super friendly and attentive. I got the fried catfish and baked sweet potato and side salad and my daughter got chicken tenders chili and seasoned rice. I was pleasantly surprised with the catfish and her chicken tenders were pretty good too and so many! I will definitely go back. read more

I had not been to the Athens location before last night. I had only been to two other locations across the country, but both provided a quality meal. Last night, the Athens location provided one of the worst experiences. We immediately order a Cactus Blossom (onion) with drinks. After about 10 minutes, our drinks came out and the waitress took our order. I ordered Prime Rib (Rare - waitress even asked "mooing?" And I said yes) and a salad with no egg. One person ordered a sirloin and two Caesar salads as their sides as our third only wanted a Caesar salad). Within 3 minutes they brought out the salads (mine had egg and neither Caesar salad had croutons). A few minutes later they brought out bread, but without any butter we had specifically asked for. Still no onion. Waitress admitted she had forgotten to put the onion in and asked if we still wanted it. I said if you can put a hold on the steaks, we would like the onion, but we did not want the onion, steaks and salad all at the same time due to table size. She assured us she would. Within 5 minutes, sirloin arrived (cooked rare as requested) and the first attempt at my prime rib. It arrived well done, as I was asked if it was cooked the way I requested and they agreed it was not rare, but well done, but they would fix it. Onions still not there yet. Onion arrives so I was able to snack on it while the other person ate their steak. 20 minutes later the second attempt at a rare prime rib arrived, more well done than the first. They asked if it was cooked to my liking again, and agreed that it was not rare but well done (I mean zero pink, dark and dry). I said just forget my steak and I did not have the time or energy for them to have a third attempt and just remove the item from the bill and bring the check, as everyone else was completely finished with their meal. The waitress apologized and I explained that while she was very nice and asked if things were ok and what needed to be done, out of our entire order the only thing that was correct were our drinks and one steak. Mistakes: onion not inputted and them came out after salads and steaks, egg on my salad, no croutons on two ceasar salads, no butter with the bread, and two failed attempts at a even remotely close to rare prime rib. I may try another location, but I can't believe the number of mistakes that were made at one sitting. Both waitress and person walking around with headset asked and were told what we were needing multiple times (they were great at stopping by and asking), but when informed, we were told they would expedite the remedy and then neither fulfilled their promise at any of the requests. Typical day casual steak house offering burgers, steaks, chips, peanuts, and of course dinner yeast rolls with honey butter. Be careful with the rolls because you may eat too many and not want your entree. The number of flies (alive) next to the window was very disturbing. Our waitress seemed to be overwhelmed. She wrote everything down that we ordered (entries - Chicken Critters & Ribs, Dallas Filet, Single Pork Chop with Ribs and Twisted Mozzarella as appetizer). Appetizer came out but we had no plates. Waited for plates. Entries came out correct but sides missing. Waitress explained someone didn't plate the tray correctly. Waited for sides. I ordered a fully loaded sweet potato ($.99) but only got little marshmallows on it (no butter, no cinnamon/sugar) and was charged ($.50) for never received honey-cinnamon caramel sauce. Ribs were out of this world delicious. Waitress needs to be trained more thoroughly. We will return but only via To Go. read more
