A Saturday night. Three adults and two children. Hosts takes our name and says 10 minutes. Two families ahead of us with 5 and 6 people respectively. 1/2 of the restaurant is not being used for lack of servers. Three parties of three come in and get on list. Two parties of two. After 10 minutes, not bad, two families are sat. After 20 minutes (total) they sat all the other parties that came in after us. My young family asks why and gets attitude from host. They leave to put kids in car seat. His test asks me if I see any available tables. Seriously 1/2 open. Oh those sections are closed we have only two servers. Never again IHOP. Not family friendly at all. I will let every social media outlet know this exact poor customer service experience. read more

Twice a year we come from Toronto to shop in the Amherst area. Most times we would go to the IHOP but last time the food was awful. Thinking it was a one time thing we went back yesterday and it was even worse. I always order the Big Steak Omelette. It used to have lots of cheddar, and seemed to be made with about three eggs. This time the omelette was so thin that I am sure they used only 2 small eggs. There was no cheddar inside the omelette and only the thinnest of layers melted on the top of it. I couldn't even taste the cheese. Strangely there was lots of flavorless beef so it makes no sense that they would cheap out on the relatively inexpensive eggs and cheese. The horrible under browned hash browns came out 5 minutes later and they forgot to include the tiny container of salsa that comes with it. My wife ordered the Country Fried Steak and it was honestly one of the worst restaurant items I have ever tasted. At about $13 it is not a cheap item but the steak was one of those preformed frozen patties that show up in prison food. It was so over fried that the coating was rock hard and the starchy goop they called gravy did nothing to add moisture. We gave them a second chance and they managed to make our meal even worse. I now understand why the restaurant was only about a quarter full on a Saturday at 6 pm. There are many good restaurant choices in the area and I wouldn't go back there even if the meal was free. read more

The service and food here are inconsistent. How difficult is it to prepare two eggs, two pieces of bacon and two pancakes? Apparently, it's awfully difficult to get that right (on a relatively slow lunch day). It's not worth the aggravation to sit and wait for replacement dishes. read more

This is definitely not the place to go for breakfast. If you want to experience what IHoP is for the first time, then by all means, try it out. But if you think you're going to get a decent meal out of it, I would try a different place to eat breakfast. My most recent experience involved meeting a friend for breakfast and being placed at a booth. The booth was clean, everything was fine and great in that moment. However, it took a good 5-10 minutes for someone to come around and start serving us. Meanwhile, the tables around us were being served, but we weren't even looked at, let alone properly addressed. The person that ended up taking care of us was nice and great... but she was the hostess that originally seated us. Really? The hostess has to bring us coffee, order our meals for us, and serve them to us? Props to her, I would definitely commend her for her versatility, but that's just poor communication among the staff. She's being paid to be the hostess, not our waitress. Anyway, end rant on that for a moment. When the hostess/waitress/etc came over with our coffee, we also ordered. Very shortly after we ordered, our food was out. We waited longer for someone to wait on us than we did for our food to come out. Luckily, the darling hostess was so charming about it or else this review would have surely been a 1 star review. The fact that our food was out so quickly would normally feel like a good thing, but it became even more alarming for me. Was our food previously cooked and then just heated up? If not, how thoroughly cooked was it? I ordered the stacks of original pancakes. Nothing special there, pretty average meal. My friend ordered an omelette, which he enjoyed. Neither of us finished our meals. I'm not trusting of this breakfast place anymore. I don't think I'll be coming back in the future. read more

Our waitress was super friendly and provided fast and efficient service. Everyone is saying portion sizes should be bigger but I honestly thought the French toast's and pancakes were huge. I wish they had more healthier options to choose from though. Overall, a nice place to eat once every 6 months or so. Or else it could easily add up to your waistline. read more

Do not get the Horton hears a who pancakes. You will be traumatized for life. -2/10 recommend. Only good for free pancakes on free pancakes day except it's not really free because u have to tip the waiter!!! Got seated quickly, even with wheelchair. Good variety from the regular menu, didn't want any of the pumpkin specials. Stuffed french toast with strawberries was very good. We went there for an early breakfast with the kids. Was excited to see it wasn't very busy, but was even more excited to have such a friendly waitress, I think she said her name was Ashley. OK, so it was a crazy fluke that was a one time deal, right? NOOO! Not even two months later, the friend I was with when this happened, was at the same iHop on Maple Rd. and the exact same thing happened to her son in law. A piece of a dish was cooked into the pancake batter. If this was swallowed it could have caused major problems! The manager paid for breakfast and was apologetic............DISGUSTING! I have tried a couple of IHOPS but this one is the best. The management is good here. I love the way they change their brreakfast menus. This month is crepes and there is a variety and each one is delicious. It can come with eggs and bacon or something else. The waitress I had today was fantastic. She was fast and courteous. I stopped in last night wanting a burger and thinking "let's see what their burgers are all about". What a mistake ... first of all portion size of their Classic Bacon Cheeseburger had more in common with a Junior Burger size of any of their competitors. For a burger that's over $9 I'd expect something larger. Sure it supposedly comes with a free drink and unlimited fries but most burgers come with fries already so I couldn't see a free drink justify the price. I'd much rather pay extra for the drink and get a burger worthy of the price. Ok, with that said, now the other issues I had beginning with getting a Classic Bacon Cheeseburger WITHOUT Bacon. Next I asked when ordering if the burger came with mayo or mustard and was told oh no, it comes with IHOP special sauce. When I took my first bite I notice first the missing bacon and virtually no flavor other than that of greasy beef and taking the top bun off also noticed absolutely NO special sauce or anything that could be mistaken for it. After pointing this out to the management and expressing my dissatisfaction and disappointment with the quality of their food I was offered, in all fairness a replacement burger but I was already of the mind that why bother if I'm going to get the same small burger and have to wait again. I asked for my check to pay and get out of there and was told the check was covered since I'd only taken a bite of the burger. That was the right and decent thing to do and for that I applaud management. However, that doesn't change my opinion in regard to the burgers. Don't get me wrong I absolutely love their pancakes and have been know to drive to nearby cities when I lived in a city that didn't have an IHOP, so I'll stick to their breakfast and let Red Robin be my burger place ... read more
