I am so mad at my experience here. We ordered two "pick two" platters. One with shrimp and crab cakes, and another with shrimp and crab legs for a $30+ up charge. Whatever, it's vacation and my kids are very excited about it. The first platter consisted of 8 sad, shriveled shrimp and a single crabcake that was more filling than crab. The second was 9 shrimp that had been fried for WAY too long and a cluster of lukewarm crab legs that came with a half-melted knob of butter instead of clarified butter. They forgot the Mac and cheese that was supposed to come with one platter and we didn't see our server to complain about anything for 30 minutes by which time we just didn't care anymore and wanted to be gone. He did eventually bring us the Mac and cheese and I had to laugh because it was a bowl of plain, undressed noodles with a small amount of flavorless sauce spooned on top. All of this plus a kids meal and two drinks cost us over $150. Do not waste your money!!! To top it all off, they tried to seat a party of six with a woman in a wheelchair in the booth next to us. The poor woman in the wheelchair couldn't reach the table and didn't have enough room to turn around. The staff ignored the poor woman for 10 minutes before they could be bothered to move their party to a table that was actually accessible for them. One of the few places open on Christmas Day for dinner. The restaurant was fully decorated for Christmas inside and out. They even make it snow every few minutes. The service was friendly and very good. The dinners all come hush puppies, and one side. I got the fired shrimp and fries. The shrimp were good size, and lightly coated. I ordered the fried shrimp (what Iguanas is known for) appetizer and onion rings which counted as a side. My biggest disappointment was that the portion size was underwhelming- 6 pieces of small to medium sized fried shrimp for $12.99. Given the size of shrimp 8-10 pieces would have been appropriate. Other meals ordered by my party were more generous but just average in taste. Great Coconut Shrimp! This very casual spot is great for a low key dinner or for groups. They have a soft serve machine in the back for guests and an attentive wait staff. I came here for an early dinner. I was alone, so was asked to sit at the bar, which I would prefer not to do, but I agreed. They were busy, but had plenty of empty tables. The decor is nautical with lots of wood. The young girl in the bar area was kind even though she was very busy. I had a combo with shrimp and oysters, broccoli, hush puppies and coleslaw. The shrimp and oysters were just ok, had better at another place nearby. The coleslaw was good, mayonnaise based. I didn't like the hush puppies at all, one small bite was enough. The Grouper is delicious, very light with a hint of lemon butter. Well cooked and presented. The Caribbean Mahi was delicious and the Caribbean sauce was perfect. I fully recommend this Restuarant however recommend that you should choose inside seating. We chose outside seating as the weather was delightful. They allow dogs in the Restuarant outside seating area. Another patron had a barking pit bull dog that would not stop barking which totally spoiled the atmosphere. Other than that, the server was friendly, knowledgeable and excellent. They removed the cost of the calamari from our final bill. It's your run of the mill seafood decor inside. Wooden tables and lots of large fake sharks hanging off the walls & ceilings. I opted for no drinks and did a dozen oysters for appetizers for the table. Nothing fancy about the oysters, not too big or small, horseradish and cocktail sauce (no saltines) served with and cold. Could have used a small fork to get them out. They came super quick, along with the food too. (Word of advice, spread out your appetizer order). Our server was awesome and really took care of us.
