So happy to see Wolf Island reopened! We had an amazing experience from start to finish. The food was absolutely delicious, especially the oysters -- absolutely AMAZING. The service was outstanding, and everyone was welcoming and attentive the entire time. The beautiful bar inside creates such a fun atmosphere, and the outdoor deck is incredible with plenty of space to relax and enjoy the view. It's the perfect spot for both large groups and small gatherings. There are so many great photo opportunities too! You can truly see the care and hard work that went into reopening this place. Pleasant ambiance. Outdoor seating on the front and back of the restaurant. Wheelchair accessible for the main indoor dining area. Go for fresh raw oysters, St. James River, Louisiana, and sometimes Tybee Island farmed oysters. The steamed oysters were also tasty. It's great if you love extra large oysters that are larger than the saltines that come with them. Per the restaurant's website, Happy Hour is from 3 to 6 pm Sunday - Friday. They do take reservations and on busy weekends they are likely needed. Ask your server what is included in the Happy Hour. On the night (3/09/26) we were there the cost of individual oysters was $1.50 during Happy Hour. Service was pleasant and quick. We did have a reservation. The fried shrimp were jumbo-sized. Overall I enjoyed the shared starters more than the mains though everyone left happy. Bring the group and order a bunch of things to share. The baked oysters and fish dip were delicious. As far as experience they took good care of us, and also appreciate the ramp leading to the entrance for our family with accessibility needs. A favorite place of my daughter and son-in-law's, this was my very first visit to the restaurant. All of my expectations were met and exceeded. First, the service was amazing. Arianna our server was friendly, attentive, and provided excellent recommendations. All of the food tasted fresh and flavorful. We tried the ever popular crab dip as well as The Boudin balls. The sides of mac & cheese and Parmesan risotto were some of the best I've had. The speed of service was also impressive. Shortly, after placing our order, items started arriving, freshly made from the kitchen. I'm not a big fan of sitting outside in the heat, but the front porch was ideal. Honestly didn't want to eat here when my husband booked the reservation. I wanted more upscale dining that evening, but I'm so glad we didn't change course. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our server, Julian, shared the specials and his recommendations, when asked. We started with oyster shooters --- a good way to kick it off. My wife and I were at Wolf Island on a Monday evening. We had a reservation, which Open Table informed us was categorized as a "No Show". This seems to be indicative of the service level on a Monday evening. The food was good. I had the ribeye pork chop and my wife had the clam fettuccine. My pork was tasty and well prepared. My wife's pasta was also good. 4 stars for the food. Service was slow and, once we were granted attention, felt hurried. The attitude was one of "get in, eat, get out". Hmmm... Friday night with a reservation and there was still a wait; not to mention being bypassed by someone else who just walked in and was helped right away. We came by to celebrate a birthday (it was also Valentine's Day) this place was packed when we arrived and the noise level was intense. This isn't a place you can enjoy a nice dinner and a conversation... and I'm just start with the food wasn't good so you're not getting the nice dinner... It took a while once we were seated to have the server come, we had 3 of 4 waters dropped off at the table. When the server finally came it was almost impossible to hear him... he also let us know they were out of Miller lite (isn't that the official beer of the south?) Now onto the food, the oysters were okay (as described by those who ate them) but the amount of time it took for the dozen to arrive was ridiculous. They came out shucked but not scraped from the shell, with one fork, not enough horse radish (there was a request for extra when the order was placed). It did however come with a little spray bottle filled of some special spices and apple cider vinegar to spritz on the oysters... if that's a thing? The server was inattentive, our drinks were empty numerous times and we had to flag someone down to help us (it was dark so maybe some more light or just more routine checking would have solved this. It took forever to finally place our orders anddddd get this the orders came out wrong! An order of clams came out as clam pasta... but the time it would have likely taken to have a new order wasn't worth the wait. The fish tacos I had were covered in mayo... if you're going to get it make sure you get it on the side cause who wants an entire mouthful of mayo? The "sweet fries" turned out to be sweet potato fries so that was nice. The oil is on the older side and the fries were limp/soggy by the time they came out, but the regular fries looked tasty! They're out of miller lite All in all... this is definitely a place I'd skip when I'm back in the area. Mediocre food, inattentive service, poor lightening, industrial setting (think open concept with an open ceiling and no walls), and noise makes this place a bottom of the barrel choice for me. read more

We had a wonderful experience at Wolf island Oyster Co in Redfern Village this afternoon. We stopped in without a reservation and found seats at the bar. There is a great view out the back to the marsh with a variety of seating in both the restaurant and porch areas. Our bartenders were attentive and friendly even though the place was hopping. We ordered mostly oyster dishes and everything was delicious but they also offer non-seafood options. Overall it was a fun time and we met some very welcoming people from the area. read more

A friend from out of town met me today at Wolf Island and we both thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Julian, our waiter was pleasant, attentive and prompt with requests. We sat on the back porch with the serene view of the marsh which we loved. Great ambiance!!! We had the flounder basket which was delicious. First visit to Wolf Island was a pleasant surprise. Fried oysters were yummy, ambiance was fun, fancy bar with a nice vibe on a Saturday night. Our waitress was sweet but not great. So we came here with a group of girls on a bachelorette party. Honestly this wouldn't be my top pick for restaurants in the area. We ate at their sister restaurant Coastal Kitchen one of the nights and had an amazing experience with fabulous food! So this was just kind of disappointing. I'm not sure what the deal with the bartender was but everyone in our parties drinks were awful. Never consistent. I felt like I was on an episode of Bar Rescue. I would suggest wine or beer here because it didn't matter what we ordered it was always a miss. Especially the espresso martinis (tasted like an Arnold Palmer??) Apps: garlic shrimp, boudin balls (10/10 recommend!!), tuna nachos (were a special and 10/10), crab cakes (6/10) Meals: can't really mess up a Caesar salad. Their Mac and cheese is the ultimate winner here to be honest! My friend got the banh mi and said it wasn't great; another got the fish tacos and said the same thing. I think the overall consensus was not bad but not great. As for service, our waitress was great-- everyone was all extremely friendly. Their outside couch area is a really nice set up and could be a good spot for some appetizers and catch golden hour. It wasn't terrible but I'm not just dying to go back. If you are looking for a great oyster spot in St Simon, I highly suggest Wolf Island. They have a great patio that has a pretty look out with heaters if it gets too cold. I tried loaded oysters for the first time and they were super tasty. I had no complains about an of the oysters we ended up trying which were all fair priced. The shrimp was also cooked perfectly! The outdoor dining spaces are awesome for a more relaxed eating environment, especially with children who have a lot of energy. The wait staff is great, everyone is on island time, so dinner takes a little while, especially with a party of 8, so it's good to be outside for the Tweens to stretch their legs and take a walk between dinner and dessert. This is a 2nd review for this establishment. This go around, I had the 14oz Ribeye which was cooked as requested (medium) with the blistered green beans & slaw as not a fan of mashed potatoes. I made reservations for my wife's 60th birthday a week ago - which I specified in the reservation. Today they called to tell me that they were closing tonight and our reservations are cancelled......."sorry". I demanded an explanation and was told that an employee recently passed away and tonight is the memorial. I was conflicted between compassion for the situation and anger at being notified the day of. I said "I'm sorry to hear that. So that's it? You've called to say "sorry" and leave it at that?" The person was out of their depth to handle this properly, so they sheepishly acknowledged and we ended the call. I began working on accepting it and forgetting about it.....but then.... Moments later, a different person called me back stating "I understand you're upset with your reservation being cancelled?" I was momentarily glad to think that some accountability was forthcoming. I responded, "Of course I'm upset, it's my wife's 60th birthday and you're cancelling on the day of. I'm sorry to hear about the loss, but can I ask when this happened?" I was then told it happened a week ago. Not last night. Not a couple of days ago. Then I was given a slew of excuses and reasons as to why they were only just notifying me at the very last minute - none of which are adequate when nothing more than a "sorry" is offered for screwing over a repeat customer in this manner on an important occasion. When I told this person that "sorry" doesn't cut it when a business makes an error of this magnitude, she said "well what would you like me to do?" That's the wrong answer. I stated "it's not on me to explain to you how to properly handle this. That's for your management to decide and state. What I AM telling you is that simply stating "sorry" on the day of - is inadequate." We had this circular exchange two more times and then she foolishly hung up on me. I did not swear. I did not yell. I simply refused to accept nothing more than a lazy "sorry" for messing up this occasion. As a former manager of some very well run establishments, I am well aware of the various and proper ways to handle something like this. I have probably spent well over $2500 at this place in the last few years, and although they have fallen short a few times with the food and service - we found the novelty of a good selection of oysters to be worth things like....when we showed up one night and were denied seating (even with willing to wait) due to a new reservation policy.....or when I was served fried chicken that was bloody and raw inside when I bit into it.....etc. but this was the last straw. If they had made any kind of gesture other than an inadequate "sorry" for cancelling my wife's 60th bday reservation, I would not be writing this review now. Then to top it all off, she hangs up on me after I gave her several opportunities to think.....and make such a gesture. It boggles the mind. It's not a matter of "getting something". It has nothing to do with financial compensation. It's about signifying in some manner that you care enough about customers to do more than simply say "sorry" when you make a horrendous blunder like this. Unfortunately now, there is absolutely no way I can be a patron of this place. Even if I was enough of a putz to tolerate treatment like this and go back - there's no way in h@ll that my wife would. We will never go back. I'll shuck my own oysters before I spend money with these people again. We'll find somewhere else to take visitors and friends and we certainly will never recommend or mention them again. If they can't train their people better than this - they do not deserve to remain in business. Now I realize we likely dodged a bullet because recent reviews indicate things are not going well. This place! The oysters are delicious, the Shrimp Ceviche was out of this world and I am still dreaming about the shrimp and grits. It is supposed to be served with the rest eye gravy, but I requested it on the side, having not ever had red eye gravy. Quite frankly, I'd you ask me, the red eye gravy is an unnecessary component to the dish. There was enough garlic butter on the shrimp that it was perfect. And those grits, just thinking about them makes me want them. The espresso martini to finish the night was just the cherry on top of a delicious and lovely evening. Our server, Lennie, was outstanding. Whatever we needed, he delivered. He was attentive, kind and welcoming. They are lucky to have him! They had a couple of guys there playing live music and with the windows open, the delicious food and the music playing, it was easy to get swept up in the night. Oh dear. Went in for delicious wings I'd had there before and they were far from the same wings I'd had. They were hard and over salted. We had an excellent time at Wolf Island on a recent visit. The inside is fresh and clean, and doesn't smell fishy at all - which is a good sign at a seafood place. The shrimp cevice is the best I've ever had. Hands down. No contest. The raw oysters were fresh and delicious as well. For my main, Lennie recommended I have the drunken clams, and I was not disappointed. The food and service were amazing. Lennie took great care of our group. The live two piece band was a nice addition as well. The band played on the front patio and an open garage style door allowed the music and breeze into the restaurant. It made for a wonderful ambiance. The only thing that detracted from the visit was that our table was right by the open garage door, and people were smoking on the patio a couple different times during our visit. I wish Wolf Island would do a better job of not allowing people to smoke 15 feet away from where I'm eating.
