This pizza is very hard to judge, but seeing as how I most definitely would like to get it again I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 3. The good: The cheeses and general topping selection... Great diversity and excellent quality. The taste and thinness of the crust is great (but the good parts about the crust stop there, see below). And I don't think I've had better pizza for the money in Baltimore. Astounding value. The okay: I've only had pizza with their red sauce on it, and while it tastes fresh it could use more of an acidic bite/tang to it. The bad: This pizza is FLOPPY. Like I said before, the taste and thinness of this crust is great, but wow does the entire slice just collapse the moment you lift it up. Absolutely no crunch except for on the outer edges. Iggies is a BYOB artisan pizza restaurant with unique thin crusted pizzas. I came here for lunch with friends to celebrate finishing our last medical school exam - between the 4 of us we split 2 large pizzas which was the perfect amount for us. We got the Anatra Arrosta (duck!) and the Pulito (mozzarella, ragu) which were both very tasty and in the end, our bill came out to only $8 per person! The pizzas are on the pricier side but if you split with a couple friends the price is more than reasonable. They have pizza bianca as well as regular pizza with tomato sauce. The pizza was delicious but a tad oily for me, so I blotted it with some napkins but otherwise I enjoyed it! The small pizzas, which are a little cheaper are like personal pizzas so that's another option. Today was the first time their pizzas. I tried three different selections: Diavola, Cipolla, and Anatra Arrosta. They all were amazing with beautiful, thin crust, but my favorite was Cipolla. Cipolla with red onion confit, mozzarella, pancetta, and ricotta cheese really bring out an interesting flavor of this pizza. The onion confit is really rich in taste, and it beautifully complemented the overall taste of the pizza. I would definitely come back to this place for sure to give a try on different pizzas. I truly don't understand the ratings for this place. I ordered a large cheese pizza and it was ice cold and the crust was rock hard. I am so confused. My son said it was like a pizza from Chucky Cheeses and then we both said - Chucky Cheese was actually better! Their was no flavor and small amount of sauce. I was here a couple of months ago and was pretty disappointed about how downhill the restaurant had gone. It was a summer night, and my boyfriend and I dropped into a local liquor store to pick up a bottle of wine before heading to Iggie's - it's BYOB which is a plus. Even though it was a weekend evening, there wasn't a single other customer in the restaurant, which was the first red flag. There was also no music playing (awkward), and it was uncomfortably hot because there was no A/C running. I ordered the vegetable solo pizza, which was very so-so. Usually I love brick oven pizza, but the the crust was a bit soggy, the sauce was okay, and the vegetables didn't taste very fresh. The pizza was also very small, and it was probably not worth the price $$. This felt surprising because I had been here before, and don't remember having such a mediocre experience. However, I had talked to a couple of friends and it seemed like we all felt similarity with our recent visits here. I'm hoping this trend doesn't continue, because the restaurant is in a great location and has potential. The service isn't great, but you do bus your own tables and don't have to worry about tip. There's interesting decor, and a pretty cool set up. The pistachio pizza is easily my boyfriend and my favorite pizza, and the restaurant is a wonderful BYOB spot to hang out.

Not bad! The pizzas come pretty quickly but are a bit expensive. My favorite is the pistachio one--never had pistachio on pizza but I'm a fan! The diavola and duck pizza were just okay. I'm all about the tomato sauce when it comes to pizza and Iggies pizza seems to be more about the cheese, which was definitely good. Not sure I even tasted their tomato sauce. I know people like that this place is BYOB. I would come here again with a big group of friends craving pizza but probably not apart from that. read more

What a great surprise on my business trip last fall. I read about Iggie's on Yelp and y'all didn't disappoint. I walked in and at first I was a little lost, it was nothing like the food joints in Fort Worth, where I am from. After a minute I just told the guy I would trust him, give me his best pizza. I told him I was a meat lovers guy. I don't know what he made but it was the best pizza I ever had. That pizza and two birch beers are still a lasting memory of Baltimore for me. I walked round trip from the convention center to Iggie's and back. The way up I was just hoping that this place would be good. Afterwards I floated all the way past the convention center on to the inner harbor with a big Texas smile on my face. But the crust seems to be much harder, thicker and chewier. I remember this as a place that had super thin crust pizzas. Iggie's is not even remotely the kind of pizza place I'd have wanted as a kid, but damn is this place tasty as an adult. Iggie's is a pizza joint with super-high-end ingredients and fairly unique recipes. Pepperoni pizza isn't even on the menu - rather, the offerings are unique recipes such as the "Funghi" (a mushroom pizza) and the "Diavola" (spicy sausage with olives and hot peppers). The pizza is razor-thin, mostly because the ingredients are meant to shine more than the taste of bread. And man, Iggie's does it well. I highly recommend either the Funghi or the Diavola. The Funghi is hearty and mushroom-y, but not in the sort of mushy way that normal pizza places do. I also highly recommend the Diavola - it is spicy and, thanks to the olives, a bit salty. Absolutely excellent. The place itself has a cool vibe, kind of laid back without being grungy. The right kind of classy for me. Inside, there's no waiter service. That's right, you get your ass up and you order from the register. Not only that, you pick up your order with the pan grips (provided, thankfully) and teeter over to your table, trying not to drop 16 bucks of pizza on the floor. Then you enjoy. The Alice and the Italiano were out of control good. The Italiano was a hit at my table, sorry Yelpers. The artichokey-cheesy coating was enough to make you cry tears of creamy joy. The pizza was great - we had the anatra arrosta and salsiccia e finocchio- both were delicious and served hot out of the oven. The manager was super friendly and we had great service as well. This place is a bit tricky to spot, especially with all the construction going on around the entrance, but once you get inside it's well worth it. I went here with a couple of friends and we all shared a large Margherita ($17) and Diavola ($18) pizza, which comes with sausage, a four-cheese blend, black olives, and hot peppers. While we were loitering by the counter deciding what to order, a member in our party expressed that he didn't like olives but wasn't sure if the kitchen would allow us to leave olives off of one half; the woman at the counter happened to overhear this exchange and told us that it would be no problem at all to customize the toppings accordingly. I thought it was really considerate of her to mention that and solve the problem immediately. Our pizzas came to the table after only about 15 minutes of waiting. While I didn't try the Diavola pizza, everyone else seemed happy with it, and the Margherita I had was pretty good. The crust is very thin and has a great texture (crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside) and cracker-like taste that is reminiscent of pizzas you'd get in Italy. The tomato sauce is more tangy than sweet, which I personally prefer. The coolest part of this place is the ambience. It's so cozy and welcoming, and everywhere you look there are pictures and paintings of dogs hung on the walls. Seated adjacent to us was a group of diners with their miniature pinscher, who was presumably celebrating a birthday judging from the bow-adorned jar of peanut butter on the table, so it's safe to say that it's a pretty dog-friendly establishment. It was also cool to see the cooks hand-stretching the pizza dough behind the counter. In summary, it's not the best pizza I've had but I would absolutely go back to enjoy the atmosphere and friendly, fast service. read more

At long last... after nearly a year in Baltimore, I finally had the opportunity to make my stake in the heralded pizzeria known as Iggies. I love the thin-crust pizza here, but not the sizes they come in. I'll never get a small, and I won't recommend that for others as well. If you're like me, the large is the perfect size for one person (even though it's probably intended for at least two people), but that's pricey for just one person in comparison to other pizza places. The highlight of Iggies Pizza is probably their toppings, some which are innovative and works well when presented together on the pizzas. I like the Funghi and the Cipolla. I was excited about the Anatra Arrosta (roasted duck), but was overwhelmed by the shear amount of olives tacked onto the pizza. If Iggies were to serve larger-sized pizzas, I'd say it would have the potential to be a top 3 pizzeria in Baltimore. As it currently stands, however, I'd say it's a decent place, with room for improvement. read more

Iggie's makes some really tasty pizzas, and I always appreciate BYOB places. Lucky for them, because their attitude kind of sucks. Having never been here, my fiancée and I walked in and were waiting to be seated when the host/waiter blew by us, jabbed his thumb at the counter, and said, "No, order there and then I'll set you up a table. Obviously." Then was dismissive when we wanted to order two small pizzas to share. "I mean, I eat a whole large pizza myself." Good for you, fatass. All that and we got to bus our own plates, too! That said, their pizza is actually excellent. We got the Anatra Arrosta and the Funghi. If you think duck, mozzarella, kalamata olives, and dried tomatoes sounds like non-stop salty/savory deliciousness, you're absolutely correct. The Funghi has a mushroom ragu, leeks, and goat cheese--I was practically drooling just reading the description, and it didn't disappoint. Was in the neighborhood and decided to give Iggies a shot. Glad I did, this place creates masterpieces for pizza, along with providing a casual and affordable dining experience. Dining elements such as BYOB, including tax within menu item price and self service/table bus it allows the restaurant to keep the price of a total meal for 2 under $40 (app, shared large pizza, and dessert). The food itself was delicious with satisfying portions. We decided to go with the antipasti, 1 large pie 1/2 Alice and 1/2 Amatta and 2 gelatos to finish (nutella and gorgonzola). The antipasti was perfect, providing great cuts of hard salami, olives, crusty baguette and other pickled morsels. Pizza was perfectly cooked (unburnt top yet crispy bottom) with generous topping spread. Finally desert was great as expected, with the nutella providing a creamy, chocolaty finish and the gorgonzola being the dark horse with subtle hints of the cheese cut with black pepper on top. Okay, if you like to go to a restaurant and be, quite literally, served the entire time, don't go to Iggie's. Iggie's reminds me of the natural food co-op I used to go to when I worked/went to grad school at the University of Maryland. It has a distinctly grungy/hipster vibe and it is mostly self serv. You walk in, order off their adorable/hipstery blackboard menu, and pay there. Then you pick your table, get your own silverware/napkins, and get your own sodas/water, and its BYOB (which is actually a plus). They give you cute little animal table markers so they know where to bring your food. When you're finished you bus your own table and you are on your way. It's very easygoing. Onto the food. My SO and I ordered a Ceasar salad to split, and their Diavola pizza. The salad was to die for. Normally, Mr. B doesn't eat anchovies, but these were fresh, not salt bombs, and had a slightly citrusy taste. He actually ate a few! The dressing and croutons were obviously homemade, and very good. The salad greens were fresh and crunchy, and everything blended together rather harmoniously. One of the best Ceasar salads I've ever had. The Diavola pizza was pretty baller too. Thin and crispy, it was topped with a spicy and chunky tomato sauce, a blend of fresh mozzerella/parmesan/asiago cheeses, fresh pitted black olives, crumbly spicy sausage, and hot peppers. It wasn't too spicy, and relied on the spiciness of several different components for the overall spiciness, which produced a really nice, rich flavor. The olives, like the sardines, were not overly salty or chewy, and had a nice mellow flavor. It was served piping hot and the cheese slid around my first slice, but when I got to my second it had cooled enough to stick to the pizza. I'm pretty impressed by the freshness of the food here, and I'll definitely be back for a casual date night with a bottle of wine or two! read more

My bosses took me here for lunch when I interned at The Sun. Afterwards, um I thanked them a lot, because I probably would have never gone here otherwise. Three of us split two bigger pizzas (funghi and the pear one) and nommmmm nom. We got salads, too, and even they were way above average. Fresh chickpeas and just, really unique. BYOB is awesome, though their drink/soda selection is awesome enough already. I like the service idea that you deal with it yourself. Yummmmmmmm BEST pizza in Baltimore! I love thin crust pizza! Finally, a good gourmet pizza place in Baltimore that's not Papa Johns or Pizza Bolis. It's in a super cute neighborhood, Mt Vernon and it reminds me of a restaurant that would be in SF or Oakland. My only complaint is that the "small/regular" is too small for one person. The little ones doesn't fill me up at all, I don't really understand why that size even exists (I'm so American). Maybe if you wanted to sample each type... As a self-proclaimed pizza snob, I am hard to impress when it comes to this particular delicacy, but I was impressed by Iggies. It's BYOB and they give you a bucket of ice for your beer or wine. They have a water cooler and a bunch of wine glasses if you need one. You order at a counter and they give you a table marker. When your pizza is ready, they bring it out. That's the extent of the wait service. You even need to bus your own table when you're done, which bugs me a little. I know you're not paying for table service, but they even clear your table at Panera... c'mon. Overall the pizza came out quickly and was very flavorful. We started off with two large pizzas: Cinque Formaggi and Diavola and ended up ordering a third (Vegetable Solo--with cheese!) to split. The Cinque Formaggi was really, really good. I wasn't as impressed with the Diavola, but I thought the Veggie Solo was awesome, too. I'm taking away a star because I think the "large" pizza was pretty small. The pizza was thin crust with interesting combos (we got half Alice and half Pistachio and liked them both) but the downside is that the portions are pretty small. Shared a large ($17 dollars) and while it was in theory enough food, I probably could have eaten another slice or two. While we didn't experience the rude staff ourselves, I could see how they may come off that way. The host was complaining loudly about someone who called and said they were coming back because they were given the wrong order. It seemed a bit unnecessary to be frustrated as to why he was bringing the pizza back, since "there was nothing they could do with it, why didn't he just keep it," loudly in front of the restaurant. My boyfriend hails from New York City, and he has approved this Baltimore pizza place 100%. While I don't think that NY pizza is all that special, he definitely does, which means that Iggies must make a damn good pizza pie. I love coming here before going to Center Stage. The service is always nice (especially since the ownership changed), and very quick. I never have to worry about being late to the show because the food is always very quick to arrive. We split a large Cinque Formaggi and a small Diavola. Both delicious and plenty for two. When we added sea salt to the Cinque Formaggi, it was out of this world. We tried to get some parmesan cheese topping, but they would not bring us any. I understand that they don't want to add more flavors to their pizza, but people really like adding parmesan cheese to any pizza they order. I've heard good reviews of the pizzeria and I was quite eager to try for myself. That said, maybe my expectations were too elevated because there isn't much to say other than Iggies sells some really underwhelming, bland pizza. I was shocked at how much the pizza lacked in flavor. The cheese was nothing special, sauce had no taste, and while they don't skimp out on meat toppings, the meat did nothing to help the pie. As a big fan of Joe's (I know, it's love it or hate it), I wasn't sure if I'd like Iggie's as much... so we didn't try it for a while. We went for lunch last week and loved it. I had a margherita pizza and was blown away by the amount of flavor - you can taste all of the ingredients, and they're fantastic. I love thin crust, and while this wasn't as thin as I usually go for, it stands up quite well - a really great bite. The crust itself tastes great, and the red sauce is delicious too. It's a little sweeter than I usually like, but everything is so harmonious that I didn't mind. Definitely going back soon for more - we loved being able to eat wherever we wanted, and relaxing with a nice conversation and no waitstaff interruptions.
