If you have any delicate furnitures, do ensure that the movers wrap it with additional blankets and wrap them securely with tape/saran wrap. Several ladies (zella, kathy, brenda) who helped me reserve movers initially and handle post-move discussions were very professional, respectful, and responsive. What we got was 2 movers arriving nearly 3 hours late. Apparently even when we asked for the first appointment of the day, they still managed to book someone else before us. When you have a small window to move 3 hours makes a huge difference and has a frustrating domino effect on everything. Not the worst experience, but also not the best.

Very polite and I am sure he will politely respond here as he did privately. The 1/2 drive charge before and after is a cost that is being added after the fact not in original discussions. (Happened both for packing and move) After my correspondence with him on the extra hours he turned the blame on me that the packing was not done right (unorganized) and the van was parked a bit further away from entry for download. As per packing, his own team were involved in packing majority of our stuff. They spent 5 hours the week before. Furthermore the big portion of our stuff was already stored in their pod since July. Yes They were still many boxes left in our house but very little furniture to move: - piano, dining table, 3 disassembled beds, 1 sofa, 1 coffee table, 2 bed side tables, 2 book shelves, one drawer, 3 chairs , one bbq , one lawn mower and one tv So I still don't get why it cost us this much time and money. Yes we were in unfortunate state that the spot in front was taken. That for sure slowed things down, but not 4-5 hours extra. Yes I made the stupid move to watch my kids around 6 pm instead of watching them for entire time so I let them do the download on their own. Did the download actually took from 3 to 8 pm no breaks?! I would like to believe they were truthful. I tried to resolve this with Kevin privately. . We ageeed that the guys worked hard and took only their claimed 30 min break! I raised the issue of lack of management and proper estimates and that needs to be fixed and for that I need to be compensated. He offered me future discount for a future move !!!! (Which basically is a very pretend polite way of dismissing me) I moved with this company 20'years ago. I was happy enough. That's why I went to them this time. But I will never recommend them again as it will turn to be very costly.

They also strove hard to gain our business even giving us an awesome rate. In the end the move took longer than thought and they had more people come out, but maybe we moved more stuff too. Everything was handled very smoothly, and they take credit debit and e-transfer which is awesome. They also packed for us the day before which helped tremendously.

The highlights: Brent was organized and extremely helpful when I called to book; rates and expectations were clearly set out; the move confirmation email arrived quickly; for both moves I got an ETA call from the movers when they were on their way; the movers (Cody both times, and a different crew with him each time but to a man personable, respectful, well-prepared, and professional) were careful and efficient moving our belongings; the bill was exactly as expected; during our first move with Papa's we got both a friendly guide to our new neighbourhood and help re-assembling a lot of finicky furniture (that was a great introduction to Vancouver!). I highly recommend Papa's Moving. The rates are very reasonable and the service is excellent. It also feels good to support a family company of nice, helpful people that seem to genuinely care about making your move as quick and easy as possible.
