They did a fantastic job helping me recovery vital personal data from a hard drive that mechanically failed 12 years ago! They were respectful, trustworthy, expeditions, effective, and affordable. Here is my experience: I turned to TTR Data Recovery after I had contacted another data recovery service. My contact and customer service representative at TTR was David Olsen. He had replied to my original inquiry regarding trying to recover a mechanically failed personal harddrive. It was a few weeks when I got back to David, after having a terrible time with another data recovery company. David understand, was very respectful and patient. I called David on the phone, and he walked me through the TTR Recovery process, from the point I sent them the drive, through the free inspection, to the file review, and the contract for recovery. I shared with David my bad experience, the fact that my drive had been opened, and the inspection description from the other company. David clarified all the false and negative information I had been given from the other company. David assured me that TTR Data Recovery had a process to polish scored platters, with an increased likelihood of recovering data. Finally, David provided me a price estimate and assured me the cost would not exceed the maximum estimate. I live in southern MD, and was able to conveniently drive to the Fairfax, VA location and drop off my harddrive right at the lab. I filled out the paperwork and returned home. It wasn't long until TTR had inspected my drive. The damage wasn't as extensive as the other company reported. David outlined the repair and recovery process. I accepted the recovery, knowing that the work was "guaranteed" based on my review of the files they could recover. Perhaps a week later, I was contacted by David, and was able to go to the TTR website and download zipped files containing lists of the full and partial files (including directory structure) that could be recovered. I was happy with list of files and paid for the recovery. The price was exactly what David quoted me, so I knew what to expect and was already satisfied with the cost. Taking great customer service one step further, my harddrive was only 20GB, so TTR put the files onto a memory stick for me! I am thankful and appreciative of the service AND experience that David Olsen and TTR Data Recovery Services provided to me. I held onto that harddrive because it had valuable family photos, but we could not afford to pay the $1,000+ cost at that time. Many years later, TTR Data Recovery was able to rebuild the drive, recovery 95% of my files, and did so within a reasonable time and for a competitive price. I hope to not need their services in the future. However, I'm glad to know and recommend them, especially for anyone in the DC Metro area.

I had a very difficult time finding anyone in the Winchester VA area who would actually do the soldering job neccessary to replace the port. Most places, including Best Buy, said they could send it out and have it replaced within 30 days. Oddly,I felt like I was undercharged but so be it. The guy actually took the time to show me the damaged pin under his magnifying glass. Thanks for the prompt courteous repair, on a saturday, that I couldn't find anyone else to do. You made my 10 year old daughter very happy.

Mike, the owner said my hard drive crashed and in order to get the laptop working again he will need to re-write the system and install a new hard drive. Told us it will be ready on Monday, 10/1. I arrived at the store on Monday @ 4:45pm to pick up my laptop. Michael, his associate, was still working on my laptop. He explained to me that "I took it upon myself to give you a 320G hard drive with a faster processor versus putting in a 500G hard drive like you had in there." I asked him why he made that decision without first consulting me. He said he "had to walk to pick up the part, walk back and install it" as if he was doing ME a favor. I was not happy. He said he was still not done with loading the software, etc and if I could come back. I left and came back 30 minutes later and he still wasn't done. He asked if I could come back tomorrow. I was not happy but agreed. When I got home I got to thinking-He needs to put back a 500G hard drive in there. I was assured that my laptop will have the same components. I called the store and told Michael to take out the 320 hard drive and put in my 500g hard drive. He said for me to check back on Tuesday. I called the store Tuesday afternoon and he said I am all done. I picked up the laptop @ 4:15pm on Tuesday and he told me everything is good and it is working. I asked him again if everything on the operating system was back on there just like I left it. He assured me it was. I paid and left. I got my laptop home and noticed that my camera software was gone, and as I was re-loading my virus protection, I got a blue screen. I contacted the store owner the following day to explain to him what was going on and to also express my frustration with the lack of communication from his store to the customer. Mike, the owner began to cut me off in my conversation with me and say "Yeah, there were some issues but I tool care of them for you. I told him they were not taken care of. He charged me $170.00 to re-write my system and to install a new 500G hard drive. At first he was going to install a 320G hard drive in there without my consent. He told me "yeah, I thought there was a 320 in there so I told him to get a 320." I told him that was not what the technician told me so now I'm getting conflicting information and that makes me very uneasy. He begins to yell at me and say "what do you want. we took care of you. what more do you want?" I told him what is he going to do about my bluescreen? He yells at me some more and says "Hey, I didn't drop your laptop! YOU did!" He said he will look at it but it will be an extra cost. This facility is completely unprofessional, rude, inconsistent, irresponsible and a total rip off! My laptop was worse off than when I first bought it and I had to take it to another facility to repair. DO NOT USE WINCHESTER COMPUTER REPAIR! Mike, the owner is a pompous know it all.....don't say I didn't warn you!

I am a website designer so I have had lots of opportunity to use Computer Tech services over the years. By far, Dallas Smith - The Tech Doctor is the best. When I called and explained the problem he told me when he would arrive and he was prompt. He quickly evaluated the problem, explained what would be needed and made some other recommendations as well. Dallas had my network and all accompanying PCs back up and running with the Network and that network has remained stable even though Comcast has failed many times since his work in the setup. Dallas recommended to replace the modem and this, too, has worked very well and provides better power for other PCs on the network. I have recommended Dallas Smith - The Tech Doctor to my clients and will continue to use his services should a future need arrive.
