I've been really happy with my care here. The front office staff is friendly and helpful and the doctors take good care of you. They spend plenty of time with you and answer all your questions, and they can always be reached by phone for follow-up questions. Even the technicians are good; I once had a contact lens mishap and was able to come in for help from a technician (the same day) when the doctors weren't in. Also, the location is good and I think they take most vision plans. I would definitely recommend it. read more

Their glasses are on the expensive side, but it's worth it, especially if you can't wear contacts (like me) and need to wear your glasses all the time. I love the eye doctor here and the glasses selection cannot be beat. It's pricey, so I looked around at other stores for frames, but the quality and selection at iDoc truely is better. I've had my glasses for over five years, so if you divide the price by the number of days I've worn them, the price isn't as big a deal. I am extremely underwhelmed with the service I've received at iDOC. While I thought the doctor was friendly, I initially received the wrong prescription for my glasses (which were not cheap) and had to take the glasses back to be fitted with the right prescription. That was three weeks ago and I still do not have the glasses that I paid dearly for. I was told last week they would be delivered "the next day" and that was seven days ago...and after calling AGAIN today to find out where my glasses are, I still don't have an answer. On top of that, I received two bills that made absolutely no sense to me for nearly $200 (they accepted my insurance AND I had already paid the price difference at the time of service). I had to call iDOC to figure out what the problem was, and I never got an answer beyond a generic "billing mishap" excuse...and I was told to disregard the bills. I still would love to know what happened with the billing mishap, but I would love even more to have the glasses I paid for long ago. At first I was hopeful that this would be a place I would use again but...after this experience, I don't think I will be making a return trip (unless it is to pick up my glasses, which I am starting to doubt will ever happen). read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Rezvani's at iDoc for several years. I love that the store stocks the latest trend in eyewear. With my vision plan, I come each year and alternate between getting prescription sunglasses and regular glasses - I always get compliments on the glasses that Dr. Rezvani and her staff help me pick out. If you're interested in an eye exam from a courteous doctor and want to get nice trendy glasses, I definitely recommend iDoc. read more

I was happy with the doctor's services, I guess. I've only ever had my eyes checked a few times, so I'm not in the best position to rate eye doctors. But the doctor and staff are very nice to work with. Problem though. When I got my my new lenses, they were the wrong prescription for one eye. So they sent them back to the lab. Several weeks later...wrong again, this time in the other eye. A month goes by. I ask where my glasses are. They were never sent to the lab, or the lab never sent them back. Either way, not good. Third time was a charm, but it was kind of ridiculous. I don't know who to blame really--was IDoc not instructing the lab correctly or was the lab screwing up? Either way it's on iDoc to make sure their customers are not subject to that kind of "service." read more

I have been getting eyeglass and contact exams, eyeglasses, and contracts from this store for the last 4 years. The staff (esp. Rodney) is exceptionally helpful - way more than would be expected. I would note that the eyeglasses carried by the store are generally designer and so if you are trying to spend the minimal amount for glasses - this isn't the store for you (I recommend Costo for that). The two doctors I have seen here are also super helpful and friendly. A big plus is that they can handle VSP (supplemental eye care plan common for federal employees) directly - so you don't have to file for your own reimbursement (they get paid directly by VSP). Can't say enough nice things about this store. I have moved offices so that I am further away from the store but still go out of my way to go here. read more

Idoc knows customer service. Each interaction has been polite, friendly and honest. I met Rodney a few years ago, and also had wonderful exchanges. He's irreplaceable, but everyone there is friendly and helpful. The new store manager is Stephanie and she is wonderful! I arrived slightly after hours due to incorrect hours posted on line by a 3rd party. She answered the door with a smile and warmth that made it feel like a friendly neighborhood optician. She popped in new lenses on a wire frame -a which is not easy to do. She did it with a smile and focused effort to meet my needs. Idoc rocks! read more

Great, so accommodating. These days I feel like customer service is just out the window. But not here. They had my glasses ordered super speedy, and gave me a discount. They also fixed a faulty contact prescription and faxed it to me ASAP when I needed it. Lastly, after wearing my glasses for about a week and realizing they didn't fit quite right and were slipping down the bridge of my nose, they fixed them free of charge and were very fast, as usual. Great location, great space. Staff was nice, as was Dr. Rezvani. Easy to make an appointment, and it only took around 30 min for an eye exam. However, I needed a new prescription because I needed to order more contacts. I got a little confused on the name of the brand of contacts that I used to use and really liked, but once she mentioned the name I immediately remembered that was correct. She went ahead and gave me a trial pair (without asking) and I put them in. When it came time to pay, I was slapped with a $100 "contact lens fitting" fee. YIKES. I didn't need to try a trial pair, and I definitely was ripped off with paying that much for a "fitting". Overall a great place, just don't try contacts on unless you absolutely need to, you won't realize you're paying for it until after the fact. read more

Dr. Rezvani is the BEST eye doctor I have ever had. If you have vision problems or dry eye problems she will definitely find a solution and improve your life! I have suffered with dry eyes for years and have seen several eye doctors in Washington, DC with no real answers. But Dr. Rezvani suggested a different kind of contact lens and other ways to resolve my issues and I'm delighted with the results. I cannot recommend Idoc highly enough. The staff is incredibly pleasant, professional and efficient as well. The location is very accessible (near Metro Center) and the optical shop and examination rooms are gorgeous. read more

I stopped by Idoc to see if they could help fit a pair of Bottega Veneta sunglasses that were crooked. Since I did not purchase the pair at Idoc, I wasn't sure if they were going to be able to help, but as soon as I walked in the staff, Amy and Max, were so incredibly helpful!!! Amy spent almost ten minutes with me, trying to make sure that my sunglasses fit perfectly, and just how I wanted them to. I've only been wearing glasses for a few years and often find walking into an eye doctors' overwhelming. The staff at iDoc optical was very friendly and put me at ease. I appreciated the offer for assistance when I was browsing frames and also appreciated the space they gave me. There's nothing more annoying than someone hovering over you as you view options. I was impressed with the staffmembers' ease when I asked to look at cheaper frames. As people have mentioned: the frames were on the pricey side. I have great insurance, so fortunately the price didn't deter me. People without great insurance might want to pursue cheaper options. The eye doctor was very friendly yet professional. The exam was thorough. Overall I found the staff to be very professional, friendly, and patient, and the process of getting new glasses to be hassle-free. I'd recommend them to friends. read more

Horrific service. I had an eye exam at IDoc Optical and ordered contacts. Shortly thereafter I was deployed to Iraq. Not unlike many service members upon my return home from Iraq I was moved to another part of the country. My supply of disposable contacts was running out, and my schedule was extremely hectic. When calling to find out if an order for contacts could be placed I was told that my prescription had expired and contacts could not be ordered until I had come back into the office for an additional exam. The office was unwilling to make an exception. I am not scheduled to be back in DC until next year. I have worn contacts for 24 years. When I asked if it was anticipated that there would be lots of changes to a 37 year old's eyes, I was told no, but it was standard protocol for them to require another exam. I cannot endorse or recommend anyone ever go to this office for eye care. The 'focus' seems to be on getting the patient into the office as often as possible regardless of circumstance or necessity of treatment. Save your money and visit a more reasonable and affordable office instead of overpaying for horrific and unnecessary service(s) here. read more

Very unhappy with this place. At first it seems to be nice... the staff and doctors are nice until something does not go the way they want, then they turn out to be kind of nasty and condescending. They didn't checked my new glasses before giving them to me and I had terrible headaches and got dizzy all the time for two weeks. I went there twice to have them checked but they just adjusted the frame. I had to go to another doctor to find out that the pd (pupil distance measure) on the glasses was misaligned and that my prescription was different from what I was told at IDOC Optical. My insurance told me I had to go back to IDOC Optical to have this corrected. So I went back and they were not nice at all when I told them that I was still having problems with those glasses and prescription. The doctor had the glasses checked and supposedly nothing was wrong with them. Then I told her that at another place they told me the pupil distance measure was not aligned, so they rechecked them and then they found the problem. But they did not tell me anything, I had to ask a couple of times if the glasses were right or not, then is when they said "ah, yes, the pd is misaligned". And I never heard an apologetic word for having to suffer a headache and dizziness for two weeks, when they should have made sure the glasses were right when they delivered them to me and/or when I went back there a few times to check them out. They agreed to have the glasses redone, but as always they tried to make you get more expensive lenses and I do not appreciate the pressure to do that when there does not seem to be a good reason to do it besides them making more money out of it. There are other reviews about this place (here in Yelp) from people also complaining about getting wrong prescriptions, so be wary of that. You will be better off trying another place. I'm definitely not going back to IDOC Optical and will not recommend it to anybody. Why risking dealing with condescending people when you can go to another place without the attitude? read more

I have been going to I-Doc for about 3 years (3 appointments, 1 per year). 2 out of the 3 times I was given the wrong prescription for my contacts. The first year the change gave me horrifying vision migraines and the second time the wrong prescription made me sick to the stomach. Each time, however, they would EVENTUALLY give me a correct prescription. Each time I also HATED the contacts (I do not get why they could not give me what I always wore before going there. They said it was discontinued but I later learned that was not true). What ultimately made me leave was management related. For the three years they always accepted my insurance (Federal Employee Blue Vision). This past appointment I went through the long, thorough appointment and it wasn't until AFTER I was done and all fitted for contacts did they tell me that they no longer carry my insurance. Then they hit me with the bill for it. How can they not tell you beforehand that they no longer take your insurance? I am STILL sorting this out with them but in the meantime I am out of contacts and need new glasses. I am forced to go to another doctor on my own dime. TERRIBLE business practices here and terrible customer service. I am extremely disappointed. Just to follow up. IDOC did bill my insurance for everything even though I had to get another exam elsewhere. I found "Vision Source" right up the street though at 800 K St NW Suite 64. They are super friendly and knew all about my insurance. They even told me that my insurance gives certain contact lenses directly to me for free! IDOC never made me aware of that, I'm sure its so that they could sell me the contacts and take the middle money. Vision Source also got my prescription right on the first try! read more

If you don't want to read my novel then just read this: the other reviews are nearly a year old and you should take your money and patience elsewhere. I began searching for an eye doctor in dc as I needed new contacts and knew my prescription was due for an update. I read the yelp reviews and decided idoc would be the best and most convenient place to work and home. I scheduled an appointment for a weekday morning figuring I could get in and out. Not the case. There was only one doctor on site (unclear if there are more on other days) and with last minute "emergency" patients I had to wait a significant amount of time until I was seen. They did apologize and waiting is to be expected in a doctor's office but it did not set the tone well. The one shining star in the place is the gentleman who mans one of the front desks. He is friendly and accommodating. This has little to do with the quality of the place but rather the type of people you may encounter if you go here. Once you have seen the doctor, they dilate your eyes and seat you at either receptionist desk waiting 15-20 minutes until it has taken full effect. As most know, it blurs your nearsighted vision so you have no choice but to sit there and wait (no reading, no iphone) you actually have to sit there with your own thoughts. So, I'm sitting there minding my own business, and a woman comes up to the other desk and starts speaking to nice receptionist. I don't pay her any particular mind but the store is a wide open space, there is no privacy, she's standing maybe 2 feet from me, and talking about her health insurance for everyone to hear. Out of nowhere, she turns to me and goes, "Do you think this is interesting?" I balk and her and reply, "excuse me?" she says rudely, "you just seem so interested in our discussion" and returns to speaking. So I say loudly, "wow you have got to be kidding me". What I'm thinking is: listen crazy lady I'm not just sitting here to ease drop on your conversation, I can hardly see you! I was dumbfounded and annoyed. On her way back to see the doctor, I let the bottom of my sandal covered in city grime slide over her handbag. Extremely immature and unacceptable, I know, but I was slightly blind and fuming. The nice gentleman was so apologetic and dumbfounded himself - I reassured him he had nothing to apologize for as she is clearly insane. Last rant I promise: With two receptionists you would think they could stay on top of something as simple as a customer's trials coming in. They cannot. I was told it would take a few days for the trials to come in. I schedule a follow-up appointment for two weeks later because the doctor wants to see how I like the lenses at which point we can order a year supply. I wait a few days, then a few days more, and finally its the day before my follow-up appointment. I receive a call reminding me about said appointment and I was like are you kidding me?! Where are my damn trials? It's not necessarily idoc's fault the shipment took so long but it is their fault that a) no one ever followed up with me to say that my particular contact was on back-order and it would take x number of days/weeks to arrive and b) they lost track of the fact that I had not received those trials but still reminded me about a useless appointment - it is clear they only care about the bottom line as it certainly cost a pretty penny. Finally, I receive a voicemail saying the contacts had arrived, I run in and grab them before anyone has a chance to let me schedule a follow-up. I guess I no longer mind their nonexistent customer service because I have no plans to return and would bet good money I won't be hearing from them. I have since ordered a supply from one of the online sites and it was so pleasant. There are a ton of eye doctors in this city. Go to one of them. read more

Five stars for the doctor here, but one star for the shady staff. If you get glasses here, you need to be very aware of what your insurance covers, because they will "make mistakes" and charge you for things that your insurance will pay for. The first time it happened, I assumed it actually was a mistake, but after the third time, it's clearly not a mistake. They also try to upsell you very hard on different features, it feels like a used car lot. I don't feel that is appropriate for a medical office. read more

My rating started high and is ending up very low. I was in Washington, DC on business and my glasses broke. I had forgotten my contact lenses and was in a bind. I was staying across the street from idoc and the front desk at my hotel told me about idoc. I left a voice mail and told idoc my dilemma and then I went in when they opened up. They couldn't fix my frames but they found a frame I could use and they put my old lenses into the new frame. $200 later I was attending my meetings with new frames. Thank you so much to idoc for getting me taken care of and the person who helped me was awesome and she knew her stuff. This was in February 2013. Fast forward five months. My frames are chipped and the paint or coating is coming off right at the bridge. I have worn glasses since I was in first grade - over 40 years. I recall when I was in grade school that my frames and lenses would get very scratched up. Since grade school - I truly haven't seen this kind of wearing on any frames. I called idoc prior to another visit to Washington, DC and they seemed pretty cool and said they would replace the frames. I called them ahead of time so I could get my replacement frames while in DC. Fast forward two more months. Well, idoc has continuously stated they will help but all I get is brushed off. I visited them while in DC and they brushed me off stating that the manufacturer was mailing the frames and they should be delivered any day. I called a few times and they keep telling me that they have a note to call me. Good - so call me and tell me what the status is and when I can get a replacement. The last word was that the frame is discontinued but they will call me within the next 30 minutes to give me an update - that was three days ago. It is a bummer. What started as a wonderful review ended up being a very disappointing review with a very frustrated customer who keeps getting brushed off! read more

While the office looks great and the front staff are friendly, they have failed to get my prescription right both times I've visited. Dr. Elnaz Taslim-Saravi handled this with grace and courteousness the first time, but Dr. Zitta Rezvani treated me like an idiot on my second return visit. There was no sense that they had made a mistake or wasted my time and money (despite telling in person my prescription hadn't changed, their print-out told me otherwise so I ended up buying the wrong contact lenses). Dr Rezvani even checked her phone messages in the middle of our appointment and while I was in mid-sentence, forcing me - with no sense of apology or shame - to repeat my question. I'd like to return if only for Dr Elnaz Taslim-Saravi's care, but the two-out-of-two mess-ups on the prescription and the chance of being patronized by Dr Rezvani again are a strong deterrent. Wonderful Optometrists, horrendous customer service - The optometrists are smart, helpful, intelligent women who help clients problem solve and offer recommendations and trials. The Customer service, however, is poor. Incidents: 1. I was incorrectly advised the contacts I ordered had arrived but when I showed up, it was an error - granted the front desk was apologetic and offered samples to tie me over but it still meant another visit to the office during the holidays. 2. I left multiple messages requesting another appointment (because my initial prescription wasn't correct) but messages were not returned. They indicated their voicemail was not working (?). 3. I spoke to the front desk asking for a prescription to be e-mailed or faxed to me. No response by phone, email or fax. I called back again today and left a voicemail. No response. 4. I was once waiting to see the optometrist and one front desk staff was being notably unkind with the other. I felt bad for the poor girl. Awkward. I am normally very patient but at this point, I have lost that patience. Too bad, such nice doctors. read more

I've never had such a negative experience with a medical professional. Bad on so many levels: Went in for a routine eye exam and was told I had a medical condition (dry eyes) and doctor suggested, among other things, some kind of plug implants that I happened to know are recommended for only the most severe problem. (I wasn't even aware of this "medical condition," so obviously it's not dire. I have since had it checked by an ophthalmologist who informed me my condition is "typical" for a woman my age (i.e. old). Next: The doctor told me she would be billing my medical insurance company -- even though my vision insurance company automatically covered this exam. Finally, I was told that she had ordered my contact lenses (which is what I'd come in for after all) but then a few days later someone called back to tell me that the doctor hadn't taken a key measurement that she needed to get me contacts. So I needed to come back. I said thanks, but no thanks. I will NEVER go back there again and caution others to steer clear. Be particularly cautious if you're told your routine eye exam has turned into a "medical exam." read more

I can't comment on the eye doctors because the reception is incompetent - I have been trying for weeks to move to this practice from my existing eye doctor but idoc's receptionist has been awful. The support staff are very helpful and competent and I liked Dr. Kocylowsky very much. On follow-up visits I saw Dr. Rezvani, who I would not recommend. Bizarrely, she seemed upset when I inquired about options for weekly or monthly contacts, which would be cheaper than the daily ones which she recommended. She also became very haughty and refused when I asked if I could try two different brands of contact lenses before my next visit, since I had already tried one brand which had not worked well, and it was hard for me to leave work to come for multiple appointments. People work at this place look nice, however, this place is way too expensive! Poor commmunication overall. The doctor did not prescrip me "properly". I have allergy for a while and I knew it. So I asked the doctor what should I do, if I can find some good eye drops. The doctor prescripted me a Brand Name eye drop which I need pay $200, before prescripton she didn't even notice me it was a brand name product, which usually insurance doesn't cover. (I only knew it until I went to picke up my drops from CVS) I complained about it, and they say they don't know what my insurance covers. EXCUSE ME! Everyone knows insurances most of the time don't cover any brand name product! I think they could probally get some commision from the brand company. And after 4 months (one month overdue according to the billing statement) billing office sent me a $195 charge for the eye exam. I asked why they charge me this, the billing person said because there is a medical diagnose code on the bill. This place is super expensive even with insurance. In taotal, for one year contact lense and everything else I paid over $600 after insurance! I don't think getting eye exam for glasses or contatc lense is such a high tech thing. Any optical store could do it. To me, not worth the money. Terrible expenrience. Follow up: the Doctor called me by herself right after I posted this comment! I guess she just figured it out since I posted this right after I paid my last bill. Just want to share my experience on a great local eyeglass store. I have been searching for eyeglasses for awhile that are unique and stylish. I came upon Idoc Optical on F street downtown and found a great pair of glasses. A bit pricey, but compared to other stores that carry the same line of frames, they were about 15% less! Fortunately, my insurance paid a portion of my glasses and paid for the exam as well. I've been wearing glasses for 20 years and I have never received a more thorough eye exam. I found the staff very friendly and knowledgeable. The office manager assured me the glasses would be back within a week and received it in 3 days to my surprise. Overall, I couldn't have had a better experience. Keep up the good work Idoc! read more

If you are looking for eye glasses and have a prescription that is relatively easy to diagnose, this place is probably all right, if a bit pricey. However, if you need an expert in fitting contacts, then I recommend that you go somewhere else. I have a high degree of astigmatism and have been wearing GPCs for 20 years (a combination that is notoriously difficult to diagnose together because the hard contacts can change the shape of the cornea), and the doctor at IDOC simply failed to find contacts that fit my eyes well. In other words, fitting contact lense for difficult cases such as mine is not IDOC's forte. It also did not help that the people at IDOC seemed more eager to sell me contacts, eye glasses, AND sunglasses than identifying my prescription correctly. read more

My glasses were so badly fitted at another shop --contorting my frames so they were even worse fitting than at first, that I was wearing my glasses with the arm across not behind my ear to avoid dreadful headaches from mismatched progressive lenses.
