Now I can see!!!!! Thanks to God and his angels like Dr. Saliem Butrus and his staff. My name is Denise Hall. I was diagnosed by Dr. Butrus with glaucoma on April 4, 2004. In June 2013, nine years after my diagnosis, I had cataracts in both eyes. A cataract is an opacity or cloudiness in the crystalline lens of the eye, blocking the passage of light through the lens, resulting in blurred / impaired vision, since I have glaucoma along with the cataracts, it was only a matter of time before I would become totally blind. I plan to have cataract surgery with Intraocular Lenses (IOLs). These are the artificial lenses that replace the eye's natural lens that is removed during cataract surgery by Dr. Saliem Butrus. I have chosen and selected the ... Mono-focal Lens implant for both eyes. Surgery was done in two phases, the right eye was done on June 4, 2014, the left eye on June 19, 2014 at the Surgical Center in Clinton, Maryland. The Surgical Center, is located in a nice area, it was comfortable, very private and recovery time is quick. Two days after the surgery, I went back into see Dr. Butrus, he examined my eyes, and now, I am very proud to say, my vision is : 20/20. I don't need eye glasses, contact lenses, or any other eye accessories. I still take my glaucoma eye drops at night, but otherwise - I can see and I can read. In celebration My husband took me to St George Island and I saw clearly the beautiful scenery... trees, water, people, buildings and yes the sky! Dr. Butrus is a very focused, passionate, educated, exceptional leader and trailblazer in glaucoma and cornea research. Dr. Salim Butrus has been my Ophthalmologist for approximately 15 years. Early on, he performed laser surgery to repair a retinal tear in my left eye and, more recently, he performed cataract surgery on both eyes. I opted for monovision intraocular lenses - the left lens for reading and right lens for distance. The surgery and recovery went well, and I have experienced no problems. Since glaucoma runs in my family, Dr. Butrus also monitors my eye pressure on a regular basis - approximately every three to four months. He is an excellent doctor, and personable too. He has great "bedside manners" and will address any concerns and/or questions one may have. I recommend him highly. (Over the years, I have recommended him to family and friends.) I like his staff too. They are all very friendly and professional. I especially like Tish. She greets each client, by name as they enter the office, with a warm and friendly hello. My visits to Dr. Brutus' office are always pleasant. Again, I highly recommend him and his staff. They are all great. read more

Dr. Saliem Butrus is a very, very professional, experienced, consoling with a wonderful sense of humor. Most importantly is his gentleness and experience, I simply love his professionalism as well as the atmosphere of the office itself. It's refreshing to have such a loving and attentive doctor. I had my second procedure on August 14, 2023, ( the first procedure went wonderfully as well ) as per his usual, I was well taken care of. I called the office the next day, I gave the message to his staff to please call me back, within 3 hours he returned my call and answered all questions I had (this was during work hours I might add.) His experience, professionalism, compassion and sense of humor is refreshing and really puts me at ease. He has done a fantastically amazing job with my procedures. Boy am I lucky that I was able to find Dr. Butrus! I had neglected my eye care for years and while working from home on the computer I began seeing black spots and a bright light in one of my eyes. Of course I panicked and had no clue who to contact. Dr. Butrus was recommended to me by my sister and I gave the office a call. The staff was exceptional and Dr. Butrus was professional, the exam comprehensive and he was able to explain my problem in language that I could understand. He was able to refer me to a specialist and she too was exceptional. Since my emergency, I have continued going to Dr. Butrus and he is even better when the appointment is simply a routine visit and not an emergency. I suffered for years and had given up on any substantial solution to a permanent eye disease, (lots of drs. and a lot of money spent). My husband called a friend and a prominent retired ophthalmologist, and he said there is only one dr. that she needs to see, Dr. Salim Butrus, and it was true. I was skeptical but ten minutes into the exam he said "you have a serious problem, it isn't going to happen quickly but you're vision is going to be much better, we'll work together and it will happen" Well, it has! I just had an appt this am and we have worked together to get me to a new level. Dr. Butrus is compassionate, caring and in my opinion, brilliant. After years of wearing glasses and contacts, I decided to get evaluated for Lasik before going in for a regular eye exam (which always resulted in new glasses and a stronger prescription). I learned about Dr. Butrus from a family friend who was pleased with his results (for another type of eye condition). After learning that I was indeed a Lasik candidate, Dr. Butrus performed the surgery. The results were immediate. I could see clearly without glasses or contacts. I had to get use to not needing them (talk about freedom). Fast forward 14 years to 2019, I am still able to read without glasses. I highly recommend Lasik and Dr. Butrus for the procedure. I would recommend Dr. Butrus to anyone who is having trouble with their eyes. I was able to get an emergency appointment the day when I could not open my eyes. I had cataract surgery on both my eyes by Dr. Butrus. The surgeries were 5 years apart. Today, my vision is 20 20 without glasses. Dr. Butrus has many years of experience doing this surgery, and is very skilled. I also found that unlike many doctors, when you have an appointment for a certain time, you actually get seen at that time.
