Dr. Hubert and the entire staff were kind, patient, and professional throughout my visit. Upon arrival, I was greeted warmly by the front desk staff. Note that if you're a first time patient, you'll have several forms to fill out via paper. On the bright side, the pen I borrowed was super smooth to write with. Plus one star for that! For some reason, the doctor was behind, but the staff did a good job of informing me of the delays, popping in and out to let me know how much longer they'll be My not so favorite part about optometry visits is the puff in the eye and the dilation part, but that's just me. The tech was very patient with me blinking and having to re-do maybe twice or three times. Once seen by Dr. Hubert, the visit accelerated from there. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and was able to describe my conditions in a way that was understandable for me. Little did he know I come from a family of eye doctors, but I so appreciated that he was able to catch something my family had missed all along. The staff even gave me a week's worth of contact lenses samples as I was going away for a week, and that was so appreciated, especially since my visit took longer than usual. I was able to get my contact lens prescription via email too since it's a bit of a trek for me to find parking or walk there - super convenient. Overall, I highly recommend NVDO. Even if they have a slower / hectic schedule, they really do care about their patients and are super accommodating. Be sure to book way ahead of time because their schedule goes pretty far out - I waited 3 weeks for my appointment.

I went to the Rosslyn location but they don't seem to have a yelp page so writing the review here…read more Recommended to this practice after being a patient for many years at another practice - the other eye care practice was purchased by a PE firm and quality of care at least on lens fitting exams just deteriorated. For my appt, some staff gave me the peripheral vision exam, and some other routine exams first before Dr Hubert came for the eye exam for lenses. He was very patient, attentive, and answered all of my questions. Very happy with the experience. My previous experience at the other eye clinic was pretty terrible, an assistant was doing eye exam for lenses and a Dr only came in if there were problems, the sample glasses that the assistant tried on me with the prescription he got was still blurry, Dr was very annoyed that she had to step in and check the work instead of just signing off on it. That's what happens when health clinics get sold to PE firms, they focus on the bottom line more than patient care (trying to get assistants to do most of the work to free up Dr time and see more patients). Dr Hubert mentioned that NOVA Doctors have no intentions of selling their practice to PE and I can see the difference in care. Thank you also to the office staff who are very friendly.

The problem came after my eye exam. Once my new prescription was determined, I expected to receive a copy of it so I could decide where I wanted to purchase my glasses. Instead, the prescription was immediately sent to the front desk. When I made it clear that I did not intend to purchase glasses there, I became concerned about the prescription I was ultimately provided and whether it accurately reflected the results of my examination. The prices for glasses at NVDOC were substantially higher than what I could find online, which made the experience even more frustrating. A customer should be able to receive an accurate copy of their prescription and shop wherever they choose without feeling pressured into purchasing glasses from the office. The eye-care professionals themselves were good, but the overall experience at the front of the store left me extremely disappointed. I would recommend getting a copy of your prescription and having it independently verified before purchasing glasses elsewhere. Based on my experience, I would not return to NVDOC.

When they came in, the lenses were made incorrectly and looked all warped. I went back, worked with the technician to figure out the issue but he was stumped on the problem, and submitted a request to rework the lenses. 3 weeks later I came back again, but they were still made wrong. I was told I needed to come back only when Ben, the initial tech, was in. The Tech apologized, looking at my chart of how the issues had developed and said that he would add a 30% discount on my next purchase. I scheduled time with the initial tech for today, but when I arrived, he was out at lunch. The receptionist rudely told me I could wait 45 minutes to see him if I wanted to. I asked to leave a note, just so that he could call me and she said "sure" and never took down any of my info, just decided there were other things on her desk more important. I then asked her for a refund on the glasses, expressing that I had come back multiple times to try to fix this issue but its an hour round trip drive from me and I have to get child care arranged every time to move this along. She gave me a blank stare, when I asked questions about how a refund would be processed, and just said that the technician would call me back to discuss. The technician called back an hour later just to let me know that a refund was on the way. Nothing else, no apologies that they messed up my lenses, or the time wasted trying to fix. I truly am a very patient person and I understand mistakes happen - I just wanted to be treated like a human, and not discarded because I expected my glasses to be functional. I think this Optometrist group NVDO is so large now, they don't really care about any one patient - if you aren't an easy case to process, they'll waste your time and give you a run around until you ask for a refund and leave.

While getting ready March 2 I realized that I failed to pack my contacts (I wear daily lenses) which made me immediately panic as I was scheduled to be away from home for a week. I have never forgotten something so important. I looked for an eye doctor in close proximity to my hotel and found Washington Eye Doctors. I spoke to Jim, and he immediately called me as I was on the verge of tears. He allowed me to come to the office with my prescription and gave me a weeks worth of samples. I honestly do not know what I would've done without his kindness, professionalism, and human compassion. I am recommending this practice to all of my friends in the area and have asked my doctor to recommend this practice anyone moving to the area.

I was just getting comfortable riding the high of all green lights and zero traffic when I had the misfortune of entering the garage at 1700 N Moore. At first, it just looks like a normal garage. But as you ascend higher levels looking for parking you realize that's there are only like 10 parking spots per floor. Also notable is the fact that there were no elevators ... so I guess if you're disabled... better luck next time? I think I made it 3 or 4 floors before I decided to turn around (easier said than done because one lane for 2 way traffic) and find parking elsewhere. Luckily, I only encountered one other car coming while I was attempting going. I was going to make my way to the garage across the street but (surprise) the entrance on N Moore is employee only so take the entrance on N Lynn. So... 2 loops later, I made it into garage #2. Parking spaces were labeled weirdly, so I'm not even sure I parked in an allowed spot, but my car was still there after my appointment so there's that. I checked in w the security person at 1700 N Moore about the elevator situation and she said that the elevator was only available at certain floors of the garage. So ........ yeah. Also- Dr. Lobaugh is amazing. I followed her to NOVA optometry from her last practice in Arlington. Couldn't recommend a physician more. She's one of those people who just makes you feel like she gives a duck about you and whatever issue you're having. That's hard to find. She's basically the only person I'd ever come back to this god forsaken location for.

Within minutes, Dr. Weiss disarmed what had been years of anguish and back and forth my teens. What was previously a battery of tests and experiments trying to diagnose "glaucoma" in a teenager was swiftly and adequately dispatched by accurately reading my mind and assuaging my concern from the moment the peeper was peeped.
