I had another great experience with Moniqua. She went above and beyond to help me and understand my requirement. She takes her time with me knowing how complicated my prescription is. usually my glasses take 2 weeks due to my prescription (which i expect). This time they took only a week and they game out great. THey have good styles for frames and tend to be mid to high end but well worth the money As an everyday wearer of glases, i know i pay more to look good but it is an investment, I bring all my friends to this location when looking for glasses. They all have been happy. I just wished the doctors stayed more stable but in this business it seems they rotate around more that I prefer but then i am a creature of habit. Billing! The local office "accounting" is creative. Got one statement for me, and an inflated statement that was sent to the insurance company. MyEyeDr (billing) didn't even know how to look up my bill! Also, the quality of their eyeglasses has decreased significantly since they sold out to MyEyeDr. They use to have some fashion-forward glasses. this place is the worst, on every level. because they took my insurance i went there to get glasses, but it would have been cheaper and better if i just went literally anywhere else-- i got both prescription sunglasses and regular prescription glasses. Infuriatingly, the store refused to honor a competitors lower price for the glasses i wanted, AND they refused to honor their own websites lower price for those frames (it was $70 cheaper online than in the store). My normal glasses got scratched almost immediately, which makes me question the quality of the actual lenses since its not like i was handling sharp objects and running around with knives near my eyes. A year and a month after the warranty expired, the prescription sunglasses started to flake, and i was told i was SOL because the warranty had literally just expired. My glasses were not ready on time and the call/text promised if there was a delay never happened. Then repeat this two more times. William lied to me. He said he would walk my glasses to the DuPont circle location so I could pick them up on Saturday. He told me this twice once at my appointment and once when my glasses were ready for pickup. This was not the case!!!! The Doctor was great but during my eye exam he diluted my eyes with a solution so my vision was blurred. I realized I left my glasses somewhere but didn't know where. After searching my car I went back into ask for assistance with finding them. I was told by a lady assistant to have a seat and she proceeded to call up another waiting customer. She looked in one room and came back out and told me I told the doctor that I had left them in my car. I told her I checked and she sat back down as if she could careless. I then left and started driving home. My eyes were so blurred that I couldn't see at all without my glasses. I turned back around and drive back to the store only to be handed my glasses and told they were in the exam room. It was evident that she just didn't want to assist me. The office is conveniently located downtown. The employees are very nice and attentive. The eye doctor wanted to have a record of a specific eye exam that was not covered by my insurance. Since I already have a retina doctor, I was not going to have the exam done. The doctor said he wanted it for his records anyway and did not charge me. That made me feel valued as a customer. The frame selections seem rather limited. The employees are good about helping make selections. The office is small and a bit cramped but you don't get lost in the shuffle. This is the only my eye doctor location I have visited, for very good reason. I came for an eye exam on the recommendation of a co-worker as the prescription for my contacts had expired. When you first walk in, the layout can be confusing as there is no indication that the store functions both as a glasses store and eye doctor. After waiting and trying to grab someone's attention for 15 minutes, an unintetested employee led me to a small dark hallway in which a few older eye testing machines were set up. Once sat down, a girl in street clothes, who didn't seem to know how to operate the equipment took my measurements. A guy who may or may not have worked there ate a cupcake and watched on. I consulted with the eye doctor who did the charts and assessed my vision. Hewas great but unfortunately only a small part of my experience at this location. The doctor left the office shortly after exam to leave me with his inattentive staff to discuss options for contacts and glasses. Once they quoted me a far above market price for contacts, I left the location planning to order contacts online. Turns out the office had given me the wrong (very wrong) prescription. When contacts.com contacted them to verify my prescription, the office corrected them with yet ANOTHER incorrect prescription. When my contact were received, the prescription was so off it was unbearable. I contacted the office and they offered to replace the lenses. This was nice but not worth the lack of professionalism, detail and quality of office. Go somewhere else. read more

It is okay. The hours are convenient. Everyone is super friendly & helpful when you first come in but you have a problem and really do need help with something, you are pretty much stuck like Chuck. Refunds are not possible here, they only give store credit, so make sure you have them itemize everything before they charge you for anything! Go over your receipt with a fine tooth comb before you leave to be sure that you are happy with what you got.. They put me in some overpriced contacts the ones I had been using were just fine. I went back the very next day to fix the order and get the more affordable contacts. Keep in mind, I just changed the order, I still didn't walk out with anything that day. Foolish me, I assumed that they would have refunded my card for the difference, but I was wrong and they don't do refunds. Oh well. Now I know. So, I'll use my credit & now I know not to return to another My Eye Doctor location. Lesson learned. read more

Absolutely horrendous experience. I lost my glasses and needed a new pair ASAP, so had to go retail instead of online. Choosing My Eye Dr was a terrible mistake. My gripes: - Had to wait 30 minutes at the location before anyone even spoke with me. - The staff was very rude and unprofessional. (I actually liked the doctor quite a bit). - They are insanely expensive. They tried to charge me $130 for an eye exam which is half the price anywhere else. They tried charging me $500+ for a pair of prescription eyeglasses which I could get at BestBuyEyeglasses.com for $170. Even with my $200 off coupon, it was much cheaper to buy online. - Even though I spent half an hour giving them my medical history online and requesting a retinal picture, they gave me the wrong procedure considering I had a family history of retinitis. Then they tried to schedule me for the right procedure and asked me to pay again! - Did I mention they were extremely rude? I would strongly urge anyone to go elsewhere read more

I had a great experience at this location. First of all I called and asked if they had any openings for an appointment and they were able to accommodate me that day in less than 2 hours. I will say no one initially greeted me when I walked in so I just kept walking towards the back until I saw a "sign in" clip board. After I told the back desk person I had an appointment she immediately step up my exams and was very friendly, professional, and personable. I did a Wellness Exam which consists of about 3 different eye tests that lasted for about 5 minutes. Ask for extra wipes to clean the glasses/machines off if you do not see them readily do it (I'm quite the germaphobe). I also had that new photo thing that they do for the retinal evaluation. The eye doctor, Dr. Weatherly (I think) was pretty cool. She was friendly and answered all of my questions attentively and we had good dialogue. She performed the chart exam and analyzed my retinal pic on the monitor right on the spot leading me to be super impressed with her real-time analysis. The whole thing with the Doc took maybe 10 minutes. She walked me out and politely handed me off to Monique (I think). Monique (I'm so bad with names but I'm 82% sure!) she is fantastic!!!!!! Woohoo! She helped me pick out my glasses and was so friendly and helpful! She processed my prescription very timely and I received my glasses 5 days sooner than they had projected! I received a text message that said 'come and get 'em', basically. I walked in and was greeted immediately. Monique recalled who I was and which pair of glasses I had selected. In and out with great customer service! Yay! Btw, Pricing for exams and frames will depend greatly on which insurance you have, of course. read more

I had my first eye exam ever yesterday, so I don't have much to compare to, but overall the experience here was a positive. Dr. Spellman was wonderful. She took time to explain everything to me, but at the same time was very efficient. I didn't buy glasses from here, so I can't really touch on the selection. My only complaint was that I had a 5:00 appointment and I arrived at 4:55. I'd tried to do my history online before my visit as instructed and their site seemed to be down. When I arrived and told them this they said they'd been having troubles with it. I waited until 5:12 and still hadn't been acknowledged regarding getting started. I had to be somewhere at 6:00, so I explained that I was in a hurry and inquired about when I'd be seen. They apologized and explained they were running a bit behind and were pretty quick to get me into the pre screening and ultimately into the office to see the doctor. I can also appreciate the fact that I was JUST here to get a prescription and was never hassled to buy glasses from them. read more

Made an appointment through their call center, which was hard enough to do because this Place's locations here have ridiculous hours for anyone that works until 5:00PM who cannot come to a 3:00PM appointment. After rearranging my entire schedule, the branch called me and told me their doctor (Dr. Abraham) was leaving at 4:30. I suppose if you have the luxury of waiting weeks for an appointment and can take off work to get to it, this place might be fine. Don't cancel anything important until a few hours beforehand, though - otherwise the doctor will decide to leave early and you'll be left hanging. Unacceptable. read more

I went to this location for the first time in spring. I had a bad allergy and some damages on my eye's surface. The doctor gave me a prescribed eye drop. It worked very well. I believe they rotate doctors with other locations. I went back again with same problem. Doctor did a very good job as always. She explains thoroughly and clearly. Also, I went to get my eye exam. Warm, Welcoming, and Informative When an age where customer service is a dying art, I have been very impressed with the doctors and staff at the Eye street location. On my most recent visit on October 8, 2014, I was struck by the overall strong customer service provider. I was greeted multiple times as I walked in the store and checked in. Ashley was especially helpful conducting some preliminary tests before my actual appointment with the doctor. The doctor made some great suggestions and was understanding of bad habits. She strongly encouraged changing those but guided me to products that would support my eye health even with my bad behavior. There was a thorough explanation of their services. When I went in for a follow up two weeks later, I received a similar warm welcome from the staff. With great customer service like this, I will continue as a loyal MyEyeDr customer. I was a little skeptical about going to chain to get a new contact prescription, as I've been spoiled my entire life with pretty dang comprehensive healthcare. Alas, I'm no longer a college student, and I don't have insurance. My Eye Dr.'s website has a pretty decent website where you can find coupons...I would suggest using them! I paid $119 for a contact lens exam and a three month supply of Acuvue Oasys contacts. And this is a pretty good deal, considering a general eye exam (when I called around) was generally in the range of $150; contact lens fittings were extra. The store itself was well-stocked with a variety of frames, but since I was there for contacts, I only glanced through them. The staff is wonderfully helpful and friendly. They accepted my coupons without hesitation and made sure I had all the relevant information for my next visit. They also called a day in advance of my next appointment to remind me, and were able to move my appointments around because of my schedule. I made about 3-4 visits because I tried out a new brand of contact lenses and the ultimately decided to switch back to my original brand. Throughout all of my indecision, they were very accommodating and did not try to push a certain brand on me. To be honest, I was a little surprised, but pleasantly so! I also paid up front, and there was never any confusion among the staff on my subsequent visits about whether or not I had paid yet. Again, amazing. UPDATE - So I don't seem like a jerk, I do have to hand it to Pierre. I was impressed at his rapid response after I posted my not so gleaming review of this My Eye Dr. location. Am I 100% happy? No, unfortunately because I have two bad experiences here I doubt I will forget all that has happened. That being said, despite it seeming like no one in the stores cares about you, Pierre really took to what I had said and tried to make it right. Here's to hoping my next visit is good! (On the house btw, I still wouldn't pay to go back just yet) I had a terrible experience at the Germantown location way back in July. So bad that I had vowed never to go to another My Eye Dr again. Let's just say it was mix of harassment and criticism of my choice when I was younger to go to ForEyes. I don't care if you think my decision to go to ForEyes was bad, but mocking it isn't going to get you the sell you need. Anyways, I figured, I'd give it one more try at a different location near work. The Dr. is awesome, she is polite and really makes sure you have the right prescription. Yet to my dismay I find out the manager from the Germantown location is now the manager of this one. I get put into a seat where I am told over and over again I am cheap by pushy staff that seem more worried about making a sale than me actually buying anything. The contact fitting price was outrageous, $100+ dollars when you can go to those "other cheap chains" (need I remind you My Eye Dr is a chain itself...) and pay close to $40. Tired of it all and learning after my appt that, contacts or not, I was spending over $100. So I bought into this plan they have. Oh, and this was after I said no to the $260 dollar plan they wanted to put me on. The guy went and talked to his manager to work out a deal. What am I buying, a Mercedes? I just moved to the area and found My Eye Dr. through a Living Social promotion. I received the most amazing treatment from the moment I walked in the door from Clark and Brennden and then by Dr. Spellman. I waited for 10 minutes or so for my apt and tried on glasses while I waited. Clark was so nice and put the frames I liked off to the side to hold them for me. Dr. Spellman took me back for the exam and she could not have been nicer. I have only seen ONE eye doctor since I was a child and can be very picky! The exam took a little longer with me since I had not worn my glasses in so long and I needed something specific. We went through the lenses 2-3 times to make sure we were getting the correct prescription. For some reason we had trouble (or I did..LOL) I think I went through at least 30-40 pairs of glasses (they have a great selection) and finally narrowed it down with the help of Brennden. The only negative thing I can say is that my glasses will take a week to come in. It was affordable and a really pleasurable experience. I will definitely refer my friends! I decided to come to this location because I was told that they would be able to have my prescription eyeglasses on the same day...false! I had to call back everyday to check in and every time I got a different response. Finally on the 4th day I spoke to a gentleman named Clark, he was very helpful and actually seemed concerned and eager to help me. He arranged for my eyeglasses to be delivered to another store closer to me so I could get them as soon as possible and he made sure someone called to notify me when they were ready. I appreciated that. If you are looking for a great selection of frames and a clean environment, I would recommend My Eye Dr. However, if you need a fast turnaround, I suggest doing your homework first. read more

Since I'm new to DC, I like my Dr's to be close to my job, because it makes it easier to get to appointments. I honestly thought that the staff here would be all stuffy and not at all amicable. Boy was I wrong. They are super nice, professional, and they make you laugh (Mr Union County). They took me right away, and my glasses were ready when they said they'd be. I had a good experience with the doctor and appointment staff, but the gentleman that checked me out and ordered my sample contacts was incredibly rude and unfriendly. His explanations were unclear and when I asked for clarification, he treated me like I was an idiot. When I called back to order my contacts today he took my order with the same unfriendly attitude. First of all Dr. Spellman is WONDERFUL! She is very nice and actually has a personality; compared to other eye doctors I have been to. I purchased both contacts and eye glasses the day I went in for my annual eye exam. I think I tried on every single pair of glasses in the store (I hate wearing glasses, but needed a new pair). Not only was Clark (the gentalman helping me) wonderful, but I had everyone at the shop help me pick out a pair of glasses, even the General Manager Lynda. Everyone that works there went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied to the fullest with my selection of glasses as well as the trouble I had with my contacts. I had my eyes examined and ordered two pairs of glasses on June 4th. One pair of glasses were ordered through my insurance and the other using MyEyeDr's discount and lab. It has been close to three weeks and I still have not received my prescription glasses from the MyEyeDrs lab (the other pair was delivered in four days). I did not receive a phone call, email, or text about any delays. I went in and inquired and after a phone call to the lab I was told that the frames were out of stock and they were waiting for a new order to arrive. They cannot give me a date of when my glasses will be available. The lab is telling them two to three weeks upon receipt of the frames. How long should I wait for my glasses? Why no communication telling me there's a delay? I've been going to this location for more than five years and this will be my absolute last time purchasing glasses from them. I also believe that they overcharged me and when I inquired why my bill totaled over $1100.00 I was told it was due to my insurance. I have excellent insurance and have never paid this much for glasses. I absolutely love the doctor there and will continue to get my eyes examined by him, however, I will no longer give MyEyeDr another penny when it comes to prescription glasses!! read more

I experienced very good customer service. The doctor was amazing ... she's extremely friendly and gave you what you needed. Clark was very professional and friendly as was the staff at the front desk. The service was quick as well. My only issue was that Clark did not mention that I could not using my LivingSocial coupon at the same time as another discount that he offered me while he was ringing me up. He had to correct himself when I asked if my coupon was being used as well (yes and then no). Honest mistake, but I'm glad I checked. He was for some reason, very busy with multiple people and no one seemed to be helping him (there was another clerk that just sat there doing nothing ... I'm not sure what his role is, but he did not greet the customers). I recommend the customer service here ... but make sure you are aware of all the discounts, pricing info and insurance info available to you and double check them at times. I asked again for cheaper frames because the ones I was trying on were very expensive ... they are not marked with pricing. read more

When I ordered new lens, they told me it would take just two hours to get them installed. I was very frustrated when I dropped off my glasses to have the lens installed, they told me they would need my glasses overnight. Since I could not be without my glasses for such a long time, I brought back my glasses another day. When I returned 6 hours later, my lens still were not installed. I had to wait another two hours. I don't like writing bad reviews, and I wouldn't do it here if it didn't present the opportunity to write a good review for another store, so here goes. I picked this MyEyeDr for an exam and to update my glasses lens because it's right on my walk to work. The exam went fine, but the problems came when ordering glasses. I wanted to update my regular glasses and get a pair of prescription sunglasses. I was surprised when they said they could put prescription lenses in my current sunglasses, but glad because I like the style. The sunglasses arrived first - but the lenses were two radically different prescriptions and clearly a big mistake, which they realized right away, apologized, and sent back. I didn't even take a close look because they were clearly so f$&*ed up. I wanted them for a canoe race coming up but they assured me they'd be back in time with the correct prescription. In the meantime my regular glasses arrived and the prescription was far too strong. I tried to roll with it for a few days but no way jose, so when the corrected sunglasses were delivered I brought along the regular glasses to put my old prescription back in. Never got to that, however, because the sunglasses they gave me were a mess. The lenses didn't even fit in there and were clearly about to pop out. After several staff and the manager examined the problem (and the lenses popped out a couple times) they finally agreed - these were not going to work because the frames were too curved. So they had gone ahead and taken my order, had the lenses made and installed, send them back once because of the incorrect prescription, and not until I complained did they finally acknowledge that there was no way this would work to use these frames. Obviously I was not going to have corrective lenses in time for the canoe race. There was such an ambivalent response to my problem, so little concern for the customer and for getting it right, that I decided to quite while I was ahead and went to another My EyeDr around the corner on L street. Completely different story - redemption for MyEyeDr - see the review for that store. I cannot recommend this store on 18th and I st. NW however. Poorly managed, poorly staffed, not customer-focused. And i'm not one of those yelp whiners that always complains, this is legit no bueno. read more

I am rarely moved to Yelp unless I've had an unusually bad or unusually good experience. This place gets two stars because one of the staff was incredibly helpful and gave good advice on eyeglass selection - unfortunately I did not get her name. The rest of the experience of buying glasses from these people has been pretty abysmal. They're expensive but I'm willing to pay for quality and selection - I wear glasses all day, after all. Anyhow - delivery of my sunglasses was delayed, and, my favorite part, no one told me. When they finally committed to a new date, they missed it by a day. When they were finally ready, I walked in and waited.... and waited... and waited. Guy who works there (who knows full well who I am at this stage, since I've been in and out a few times) asks my name, looks down at a table, goes 'oh these are yours' and picks up my glasses, open, hands them to me, and walks off. So, that's what your $500+ gets you. Indifference to the point of contempt. Go somewhere else. read more

This was the worst experience I've ever had at a healthcare provider. They were rude, dishonest, and ornery. It took 4 phone calls to receive my contact prescription. At least 75% of the time I called them, they put me on hold for several minutes, and during the course of being on hold, random other employees would pick up the phone. In light of their disorganization and unprofessional demeanor, I have real concerns about the privacy of my medical records in their hands. It took 7 weeks to receive new lenses in my glasses. All the while, they were never apologetic. Even the manager was rude. It is too bad the opthamologist there has to work with such an unprofessional group of people, as she is highly qualified and a good physician. Finally, they never told me that my insurance only provided for either glasses or contacts -- until they had charged me over $100 on my glasses (which included my insurance discount). I will never return, and I hope none of you will either -- in my 15 years of wearing glasses or contacts, I have never had such a bad experience. Let this be your warning! read more

My gripes: - they fit me with one brand of contacts, and then sold me another with an entirely different circumference - one pair of glasses was so flimsy that the sales assistant snapped them in half while adjusting them - the other pair of glasses was so poorly made they made me so dizzy I couldn't walk - they were dodgy about refunding me money, claimed I hadn't paid them what my bank statement clearly indicated I had paid - MyEyeDoctor's main office wasn't much better and they were very evasive about refunding my money for the glasses I returned. It's been months and they have yet to issue me a refund. In fact, the main office fired the customer service rep I was working with and no one followed up on her ongoing files. I went to this location because it is literally a 1/2 block from my job. The Dr. is GREAT! I purchased glasses, contacts and reading glasses for total of $700. My initial appointment was at the end of April, it is now July and I still do not have my full order of contacts. They are horrible at letting you know when you will get the things you purchased. They will not call you to let you know there is a problem. I call and they tell me "oh your left eye is on back order". Well it's been two weeks now you couldn't call me and let me know this? Again, I love the Dr. at this location and how thorough she is in making sure you have the correct Rx but her efforts are hampered by the not so efficient adminstrative staff. They even have an attitude once you bring up the fact that they do not communicate properly with the customers. I wish she would get better staff because she is awesome! read more
