Plus all of the staff are friendly and helpful. I recently had a problem with my right eye which scared me. I woke up with sticking and tears streaming from my eye and I had problems seeing clearly from that eye. I thought it would soon go away but it didn't, it actually got worse. The following day I went into Thompson Eye Care but Dr Gerald wasn't there so I saw Dr Kathryn. She was super helpful and gentle with my eye. She ran thorough exams and explained everything she was doing. By the time she was through my eye felt a bit better and she called in prescription which I picked up that night and I was told to return the next day. The following day my eye felt better but still had the same symptoms this time I saw Dr Gerald who greeted me and told me Dr Kathryn apprised him of my problem. He ran a couple tests and took photos and he explained what he was seeing. He asked me some questions which made me realize that I had wiped my eye with a tissue and it scratched my eye. This caused the discomfort and an infection. This is the reason I have been coming to this place for my eye care. This father/daughter team is super able to make me feel taken care of. Over the years I have had my eye problems handled effectively, they are both patient and helpful. I actually know a couple of neighbors who also come here and they both love their services.

He asked me how i was with my glasses. i started to answer that unfortunately i didn't use my glasses for a year because when i walked, i saw a hole on the floor. he did not like my situation because i was not happy with his prescription. i told him, how am i going to be happy if i can't see with the lenses, and he replied, if not, then you can go to another doctor. for me, that was not professional because he does not listen to his patients, how they feel. he charges for the service; it is not free. i pay for my insurance; it is not given to me. i do not pay a doctor to be treated badly, but for the medical service. if he didn't sleep well Friday night, it's not to take it out on his patients, not because of the medical service. I was asked to wait in a waiting area in the back with a handful of other people. As I was walking back to that waiting area, one of the front-area workers told me that I would need a mask in the waiting area. I didn't put up a fuss, but America's Best's website is very clear about their COVID-19 guidelines and no masks should have been required per the guidelines on the website. (Maryland was in a "Low" community level at the time of my visit and America's Best's website says that masks are required only when community level is "High": https://www.americasbest.com/health-statement.) I don't mind at all if businesses want to mandate masks, but they absolutely must be transparent and consistent with any guidelines they choose to implement. I was not called for my pre-tests until 10:40a, a full 30 minutes after my appointment time. And I was not seen by the doctor until 11:15a. The portion of my visit spent with the doctor lasted less than 15 minutes, which included some pleasant small talk. So if the office were running efficiently, I could have been in and out in 15 minutes. Instead, it took over 80 minutes. I'd like to return to receive care from Dr. Branch, but I don't think I can return to this location unless I book the first appointment of the day. It's simply too much wasted time otherwise.

A well or so ago, I selected a list of features for my lenses immediately after my optometrist appointment. The representative who helped me select them--I'll call her Sue, not her real name-- assured me that the record would be retained for when I came back. I wanted to check other options first. The second time I went, I found that Sue failed to record my selections so I went home to retrieve the printouts she gave me. That was the first failure that gave me pause. I brought the printouts the third time I went and had Jane (not her real name) prepare the paperwork for the lens to be replaced. She gave me a waiver to sign that was so sloppily photocopied that it cut off the right side of the page. I couldn't make sense of one of the sentences. They didn't have a master copy that they could make a correct photocopy from. That was the second failure that gave me pause. I lost confidence in their ability to handle my frames with care so I cancelled my plans to have them replace my lenses. I'll try a different company.

I had three appointments at this establishment and quickly learned that unless you make an appointment to be one of the first patients you will wait for hours. That is unless you are the first patient of the day and the doctor you are scheduled to see if always late, and I mean late by 45 minutes or more. This was known by the schedulers and the optometrist assistants as when I mentioned I had been waiting for over an hour they stated that the doctor I was scheduled to see is always running late then takes her time eating her breakfast before seeing patients. After my second appointment of being prescribed 4 products three of which I had to purchase from them I realized that this place is a money grab. They want to continue pushing you to purchase their products instead of a resolution. I wanted to be sized for hard contacts as my optometrist had already confirmed I was the ideal candidate for it; however they stated they wished to continue meds. I made the decision after my third appointment that this was not the place for me. I never had an appointment where the waiting room was not full to the point patients were sitting in the hallway. Not the type of establishment I will support.

My appointment was at 2:15 PM Today Tuesday December 2, 2025 I received the standard text a few days prior to confirm my appointment which I did. The day of don't forget to arrive 15 minutes early for your appointment today Text arrived too. I arrived for my appointment promptly at 1:50 PM, which is 25 minutes before my appointment. I checked in at the desk and was told to have a seat some one would call you back soon. I noticed the waiting room was pretty much totally full with almost every chair taken. At 3:30 PM, I was finally called to the back where I was escorted and told to have a seat and they would be with me shortly to take me to the exam room. Apparently the process at Washington eye Institute is similar to waiting for a Disney ride. So approximately 3:45 I was escorted to a room where they began running some Tests and After one Test. I was told I'd have to wait as the next machine was being used. This process took a while. Finally the machine was Available and after that test was told to have another seat in the hall again and they will call me to another room. At approximately 4:20 PM. I was escorted to another room where they performed another eye test and I was given eyedrops to dilate my eyes. Then I was escorted back into the hall and told to wait where other patients were waiting wondering who would be the next lucky patient to go back to another room At this point, I struck up a conversation with other patients whose appointments were at 2 o'clock and 2:15 PM and such patients becoming quite irritated with the long wait. It's interesting. They want you there on time but seem to have no regards for your time once you've checked in and paid your co-pay At 4:50 I was escorted to another room where they told me to have a seat and the doctor would be in shortly. Finally at 4:55 PM the doctor came into the room and proceeded to give me an eye exam. At this point I voiced displeasure and that this had happened before and I thought the office was very unorganized with respect to scheduling and long waiting time. if there was a staff shortage and knew there would be a long waiting period they should' contact the patient to reschedule or offer them the opportunity to reschedule. The doctor was apologetic and told me to see the office manager when I checked out. Upon checking out I asked to speak to the office manager, Her name is Dana and I was told Dana had left earlier which I find interesting that she's not there to try and coordinate the chaos with how late the appointments ran. The lady checking me out, asked me if I had sunglasses since my eyes were dilated. I looked out the window and said well it's dark outside. I don't think I'll be needing them. . The first time for me is ignorance. The second time is stupidity on my part as this isn't the first time I've had this issue with Washington eye Institute running very late. I will be looking for a new ophthalmologist and I Will NOT be patronizing Washington Institute in the future. I am done. In closing, if you like long Disney wait time rides, make an appointment with Washington eye Institute in Greenbelt Maryland.

What is unreasonable: not letting me know the "repairs" would cost an additional $180 before they did them. About a week later, after doing nothing but cleaning the computer and replacing thermal paste, with no new parts or anything, they say the issue is fixed (computer was initially not turning on due to possible power button or motherboard/overheating issue) Without letting me know the total cost, or how much the "repairs" would cost in advance, the owner stated the total cost would be $270, including $90 for updated system, scan and test. And they asked for cash as the "card reader is having issues". I'll only be paying this with a credit card, so that I get some consumer protection if they don't honor the 60 day warranty. Invoice Below: Diagnostic $89.99 (paid). 1st tech unclog+thermal paste Went from dead to turning blue. Confirmed not power button. $89.99 2nd tech tried breakthrough password but then wiped it. Still turned blue. Updated bios+system, virus scan, ram scan/test. $89.99. $269.99total w/ $179.99balance. I fully expect this to have fixed nothing. Based on the other reviews I have read, I shouldn't have brought a computer to a phone repair shop but that was my mistake. Next time try out geek squad, where they will "fix" the same thing for $180. I must look like a sucker, but I plan on paying these guys and then leaving this review everywhere I can so that anyone else looking for a computer repair is warned off, even if as the owner said "no one even looks at Yelp reviews anyway" And for reference: this computer refurbished costs $136 on eBay. I wish they would've just bought one and given that to me instead.

Dr. Robert Hsieh is a great doctor. He cares very much about his patient. As my daughter gets older she were developing poor vision and we were refer to Dr. Hsieh by our family doctor for over 20 years. When we made the first appointment for my daughter to see Dr. Hsieh the office staff that I spoke with over the phone was harsh. She spoke quickly and hang up the phone. She did not even give me a chance to ask any questions. I really thought that they may be very busy because the doctor is so good that they are trying to keep up with patients appointment. But when I went to the appointment I signed in and was to told to take a seat and wait to be called. I sat there about an hour only to listen to the office staff talk about their personal business. We moved from Prince Georges County and wanted to see Dr. Hsieh because he gave my daughter her first prescription, so I made an appointment and drove two hours to get to the office on time. Only to be told by the office staff that we needed an referral. When I asked why I was not told this at the time I made the appointment. The office staff said that, " Its not our job to tell you that you need a referral". I was taken by surprise and we walk right out of the office. We will never refer anyone to this office. There are many good caring eye doctors with polite staff out there.
