Elderberry Hibiscus Iced Tea
Elise B.

It was busy inside with people eating or working. I ordered a Blue Jasmine Matcha Latte & iced elderberry hibiscus tea. The blue jasmine matcha latte came iced with almond milk infused with jasmine tea and butterfly pea flowers. The color was bright and pretty & it tasted great! They are dog friendly too. Parking- metered street parking

Coming up....on this hot coffee shop review. Ideology Coffee is a charming coffee gem nestled on the busy Central ave in the heart of downtown Glendale. They offer a wide array of flavorful coffee and tea drinks as well as food dishes. Upon entry you'll quickly notice its interior has plenty of natural light and serene vibe. Moreover, you'll be warmly greeted by a friendly staff. I quickly perused their menu and ordered their Cold Brew Lavender and Chicken Melt Panini sandwich. Drink was refreshing and food was warm, crisp and bloody amazing. This coffee shop offers free wifi and sell some coffee bean bags. Prices were competitive. Service was ridiculous spot on. Plenty of street metered parking. Overall, I was ebullient with their coffee and food. And it's a must-visit spot in the area.

This is a cute coffee shop on central Avenue. It is a small store with several tables to sit enjoy drinks, food, work and study. Service was good. I didn't have to wait for a long time for my drink. I ordered an iced latte. It was not sweet at all and was good. Some coffee shops make the latte too sweet, but not this location. I had a pleasant experience in this store. Prices are compatible with the other stores in the area. It can be busy in the morning, I visited in the afternoon. There was no line and several people were working on their computers. I would suggest going to this location, if you're looking for a quiet place to study. I didn't notice private parking lot. There are plenty of metered parking spots. I would recommend this coffee shop, if you're looking to try something different than chain coffee shops that are around every corner.

Iced Blue Jasmine Matcha with Almond Milk
Allison P.

A cute little coffee shop in downtown Glendale! I got their Iced Blue Jasmine Matcha with Almond Milk- easily one of the prettiest drinks I've ever gotten! A super interesting concept. I got floral notes from the Jasmine tea, creaminess from the milk, and just a tinge of earthiness from the matcha. My only note is that the matcha could've been a touch stronger, but otherwise, a great choice! Being one of the few coffee shops in the area with seating, Ideology Coffee is the perfect spot for a little coffee date. They have plenty of seating options littered around inside. Come grab a sip and stay awhile.

Blue Jasmime Matcha Latte
Aureli R.

The bagel with avocado, chives, cream cheese, and capers is excellent and I've enjoyed it the few times i've gone. The matcha here is a bit too bitter for me, and I make matcha lattes at home without sugar fairly often. The main reason I rated a bit lower is because I feel the service is always very brisk and the cafe's atmosphere itself is kind or cold and uninviting. I end up leaving immediately once i'm done eating, or sooner, because it feels very awkward inside.

2 coffees and bagels

We visited Ideology Coffee in Glendale Place today (09/25/25 around 1:00 pm) and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. We ordered 2 coffees (latte and cappuccino) and 2 bagels. Not long after eating there, we both felt unwell and experienced food poisoning. We hadn't eaten anywhere else that day, so I suspect the milk may have been spoiled. The service was also unpleasant. The cashier (a young woman at the register) was very impolite -- when we asked about sandwiches, she rolled her eyes and didn't offer any helpful recommendations. The only positive I can mention is that the location and interior are very nice. You can tell that someone invested a lot into creating a beautiful space. Unfortunately, the service and food safety don't match the quality of the design. Sadly, between the poor service, questionable coffee quality, and the fact that we got sick afterward, I cannot recommend this place.

Chicken Melt
Leanna L.

No line around 2:30 on a Tuesday. Place is very bright and clean, but it was rather warm inside due to the sun. I got the Iced Peach Blossom Matcha Latte with oat milk and honestly it didn't taste like much of anything. It didn't taste bad, it was just bland, and I could barely taste the peach blossom that they said was made in house. The chicken melt was crispy and warm, but similarly lacked flavor and I wish it had more sauce. 3/5 stars for okay tasting items and fast service. Will come back to try a coffee/latte at some point since I live nearby.

Blue jasmine matcha
Martin L.

Was grabbing lunch across the street and decided to check out Ideology after seeing cool photos of the Blue Jasmine Matcha. It definitely looked better than it taste because it was lacking that strong matcha flavor you would normally get when ordering a matcha latte.

A great caffeine stop in downtown Glendale! I've been to this coffee shop a couple times now and have no complaints. This last time I ordered their cinnamon and clove iced latte accompanied by my favorite treat, an almond croissant, what a wondrous breakfast it was! The business itself is very clean and spacious. Well decorated and plenty of seating (inside) available. It's in a popular area so there might not be a table available if you go during peak times. The staff is nice and I overheard them chit-chatting with a regular customer which I thought was sweet. Parking-wise, its on the main busy street with metered parking so take that into consideration especially on busy weekend days. I will continue to come here when I'm in the area for my coffee and sweet treat fix. :)

Cappuccino
Mailani S.

The cappuccino was very tasty and we loved the beautiful blue cup and saucer combo. The set up for the location itself was a bit interesting having a wall separating the space but overall it was cozy!

Blue Jasmin Matcha Latte (iced)
Brian V.

A small coffee shop located in the downtown Glendale area with friendly service and some unique menu items. I came in here because I wanted a pick me up, but it was also hot. I ended up ordering the iced Blue Jasmin Matcha Latte. I usually get iced coffee but wanted to change it up a little bit since it looked fun as well. The drink was refreshing, and I had a good amount of caffeine that I was looking for. There's also a seating area inside where people were working on their computers or just hanging out. Looks like a fun place to be. Maybe next time, but this time I was just grabbing a quick drink to go. On a Sunday afternoon, there was plenty of metered street parking close by.

Chagaccino
Antonio R.

Not as good as it used to be. I used to really enjoy this spot, especially for their Matcha Chaggacino, but lately it's been overwhelmingly sweet--so much so that I couldn't get through more than a few sips. When I brought it up to the cashier, I was told no sweetener is added. However, as someone who visits regularly, I can say with confidence that the flavor has noticeably changed. It's disappointing when feedback is met with a dismissal rather than a solution. I'm giving 3 stars because I believe a good establishment should be open to customer input instead of brushing it off. I hope they take this as constructive feedback.

The Black Cow Cafe has been part of my life since my college years, so when I came here now, it was always filled with nostalgia and a slowed pace over a calming meal. Opened in 1994 by a father and son, they embodied the community's "Main Street USA" vibe with a neighborhood diner where everyone knew each other, and you were served a soothing homemade meal during breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Did this cafe leave me with warm memories of the past, or did I cower from time's inevitable changes!? PURCHASE(S) Green Milan 16floz Drink ($7.95): My body needed something "green" and this sounded interesting. I thought it would be one of those health smoothies back in the 80s, but instead a frothy hazy light drink with a light grassy aroma and a middling leafy flavor. This smallish portion on the healthier side was packed with fresh goodness and fluffy eggs. The country potatoes were plentiful, nicely seasoned, but lacked the outer crisp I liked. The large sourdough toast with creamy butter and preserves rounded out the meal well. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=vDf51dNgOCoyIaPX_AOvrw Fish & Chips w/Coleslaw & Muffin ($17.95): Made with tempura fried Icelandic cod served with jalapeno tartar sauce, and Hawaiian coleslaw, the three fish pieces were crunchy, hot, and thick but needed more seasoning so the tarter sauce came in handy (no vinegar!). The coleslaw lacked much flavor and moisture, and the muffin was moist and warm. Everything arrived within ten minutes, and we were checked on periodically. All was good - thank you! PARKING (Varied: FREE this instance): I found a spot in the large public lot directly above the restaurant off of Florencita Dr. Otherwise, there were metered spots along the main drag of Honolulu Ave. and all surrounding side streets- 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A packed layout filled with tables inside and along the front sidewalk, the decor was as if grandmothers united and gave it a country farm house appeal https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=8jVT2inwc8GIQ6sH2UG9Vw&start=24&select=HWq31BkepPCR8uWcUf4Gtw with odds-and-ends and knickknacks. A minimal amount of natural lighting came in through the front glass windows and doors while a mix of recessed and track electric ceiling lights filled in the rest. There were no TVs nor could I recall any background music over all of the loud conversations. ATTIRE Totally casual, so I would normally be in a t-shirt, boardshorts, and flip-flops. OVERALL It was nice to revisit The Black Cow Cafe, and hoped to return soon. The menu was packed, the food was good, the prices were comparable, and the service was busy but manageable. Plus, I always preferred to support small local mom & pop businesses. I found very good value based on the prices, service, and experience noted above (TOTAL paid experience was around $69.00 BEFORE any discounts and/or tip). And, they accepted my credit card of choice... AMEX! 4.0 STARS

The food and service were both great. I ordered the Chicken Caesar Wrap and my husband had the LA Cheesesteak Sandwich. Both were delicious. The wrap was different because it was made with balsamic dressing rather than ranch and had croutons inside which gave it a crunch. The cheesesteak sandwich had nice flavor kick to it. (My husband had the steak and mushroom penne, friends had the Chimchurri steak and the wedge salad) The negatives: I had the shrimp risotto and found it blah. The serving was very small - i feel like American portions are often obscenely large (and don't like that), but this was much smaller than average and I was still hungry after eating it. The flavor was ok, but nothing to write home about. And the shrimp were very small - what my husband and I call "bait" shrimp. Not the large shrimp you usually get at a nice restaurant. Since i was still hungry, I ordered a cobbler. It was fine, but not great. Texture was a bit strange - not traditional. Probably won't come back. The food is just not that interesting. Daniel brought me the wrong taco; the taco was mostly lettuce and cheese very little meat ~ I was surprised because when I ordered this in the past it was excellent and done right (Not his fault tho he did write down my taco order incorrectly). He never came back to our table to check on us. When we were done we asked for a box because we had a lot of food left. He looked at it and brought us a tiny box. What was he thinking?? We asked the bus boy for another and he brought us the correct size. It was hard to get Daniels attention; we tried a few times to flag him down but he wasn't looking at us. We watched him a few different times throughout our time there, to see how he was with the other tables. We came to the conclusion that he looked like a fish out of water. Maybe he was overwhelmed even though the restaurant was a little more than half full last night at 5:30. Then he brought us our check while we were still eating! I told him I wanted to order dessert. Again, he had no clue what he was doing. I suggest the management take a look at this review and address this issue with him. Our experiences here have always been great, been coming for years.
