My first visit to this office was wonderful. Everyone was kind and the doctor herself was incredible, patient, she took the time to explain the treatment plan, and I left feeling really happy that I felt I had found a good dental practice to go to. I was informed they would be submitting for pre-approval for further treatment, that it would be sent that day, and it generally takes two weeks to get a response. I was in pain due to an infection, but understood I needed to wait for insurance to approve. At two weeks, I called to follow up, and was told the office manager Jasmine wasn't available, but they hadn't heard back from insurance, so I called my insurance to follow up as the pain from the infection was getting a lot worse. I was informed by the insurance company that the request was never submitted to them. I ended up calling the Hurst location 6 times over a weeks time to try to get this resolved so that I can get treatment because my mouth was hurting so badly and it was only getting worse.  Each call I was told the office manager is in a meeting but will call me back. She failed to return my call at every opportunity. I final time I called, I was told she was in a meeting, but insisted on waiting as I didn't trust her to call back and needed treatment. I sat on hold for almost 40 minutes before the person answering the phone picked up and let me know she'd tell the OM Jasmine to call me and that that she "probably would this time" because I had been on hold for so long. I tried to ask to speak to the doctor or anyone else, and was informed there was no one else who can help me and I couldn't speak to anyone else, but the one person who could help me seemed to be avoiding my calls. An hour after my final call Jasmine finally called to tell me that pre-approval wasnt actually required (which is incorrect) but she was going to go ahead and submit the request just so it was done. She scheduled my follow up appointment in two MORE weeks pending approval. At the end of the call I asked her if there was a reason she wasn't able to return any of my 6 phone calls over a weeks time when I'm in increasing pain, and without any hint of apology she just said she'd been busy and just hadnt gotten around to it. That's not acceptable and if it's happening to me, who knows how many other people are being ignored and disregarded trying to get the help they need. As medical professionals, impeding care is negligent at best. It's just not acceptable. I also reached out to both corporate contacts provided on the website without any sort of response, so I consider it my responsibility to inform potential patients to spend their time and hard earned money elsewhere where they can get the care and consideration they deserve. read more

WORST PLACE EVER. I cant even get my braces removed because theres "balance" due but in the contract you pay a debind fee or you pay 80 percent of your treatment which i paid FULL my second month having them on. I am moving states i have been trying for the past 2 months which has also stopped me from even getting them changed the last 2 months as well and now here i am 4 days away from moving at the office 8:10 am when the hours are 8am -5 pm and no one is answering the phone or even looks like they are here and of course closed. Had an appointment today scheduled for an extraction for our daughter. My wife our daughter and 3 of our other kids ages 6 and under all in tow for the ride. They arrived 15 min early as indicated on the pre op instructions. Door still locked. Someone comes out a little after 10am and advised my wife the appointment has been canceled and that someone called yesterday and left a voice mail (not true) my wife advised that, she did not receive a call or voice mail. She then spoke to the lady at the front who then advised her "it was cancelled last minute" with no apology or explanation and very short, lacking in both customer service or care. This was such a complete waste of time especially when our oldest daughter is missing school to make the appointment, this establishment couldn't even care to actually phone us, ensuring we were aware, nor even expressing concern, or apology after notifying us the morning of it being canceled and stating "it was canceled last minute" The doctors and hygienist have never been a problem however it appears your office staff, should they continue to remain working for this office will only drive your business under. I will strongly discourage anyone from coming to this office if you don't have to. There are plenty of other dental office that offer even a minuscule amount of customer service which still, would be a far cry better than this office. A free consultation on business/training (which I do at a high level in the private sector) Your office staff are the first people your customers Engage with and they are the last people your customers engage with. That means they are the first impression and the last. Regardless of how good your Dental skills may be, if your office staff is getting an F in service, the whole office gets an F. Because that's what customers will remember the most. Fix your office staff, and see your office succeed more. Leave it as is. The web site states they are open on Saturday, stayed on hold for 45 minutes nobody every answer. My father saw a dentist on tuesday for a tooth ache, gave him two prespretions on friday he was having short ness of breath, and called to say he fell and cant get up had to call 911 to get him up. they took vitals blood pressure was low and had a temperature of over 100. Now we are being seen by another practice, on top of being the granddaughter of a dentist and my mom having worked in the field, I feel more confident in my concerns with smile Workshop Hurst. We originally liked them because of the movies the kids watch and the coin machine prize box ... but where they get you like they got us was they were the only place near by that took our insurance... so if you had concerns which we had for a while; you couldn't go elsewhere due to insurance. Thank the stars more places started taking our insurance and we have been extremely happy with our decision to leave smile workshops for a place that actually does a good job with our kids and us. We would always schedule with our regular dentist but we rarely saw the same dentist twice in this location which makes treatment plans tough. Where we go now we have the same dentist every time. With my youngest they wanted to heavily sedate him to take care of a cavity that ended up non existent in other dentists xrays. Big red flag they do unnecessary work at smile Workshop Just for the money. At smile workshop they seemed to have issues working with littles cause they just want to get people in and out. At our new place he does amazing and they work in time into their schedule to work with little one cause they understand younger kids needs. As well on the flip side with my oldest there were easy preventative things they could have been doing, to help prevent some of the issues she was having but they allowed things to get to the point that they could keep doing more and more work to make more money vs what was actually best for her. Never communicating any preventative methods with us even when asked. My daughter is the reason my grandpa wanted us to quit going here but he was retired and understood we were stuck at the time due to insurance. They always took forever to take us back; even with being first appointment of the day it would regularly take 20 mins just to bring us back for morning appointments. Which makes the later appointments run even further behind which we've had hour waits for the after school or work appointments. We regularly had issues with them not working with our insurance to where my husband regularly had to take off to be at every appointment to be able to be on the phone with the insurance to approve a basic cleaning. This office led us to think it was the insurance being bad; we've yet to have this issue at our new dentist. I've also had to call regularly to get them to cancel appointments and let them know we are not patients here anymore. We called repeatedly early this year to take us off the books and cancel all appointments; last week I got a reminder call about my sons 6 month check up I canceled back in February/March! When we had them close our files! They had done it on everyone but our son because he had the furthest our appointment. I've been worried about their ability to do their job because I've heard about them from friends that have left that they cancel tell them to close files and they still get hit from collections for a missed appointment charge even when following the cancel before x amount of time. My son has Autism and for me to find a team that treats my son with patience and empathy it's imperative. My son loves coming to this location because the team makes him feel comfortable and they answer all his questions. Everyone has a great attitude and if there is a wait they let you know so that you are not waiting not knowing what is going on. This is my dentist family practice for life. read more

I specifically asked if I owed anything else for my cleaning and xray and I was told that I don't owe anything! Then, I get a bill in the mail! My boyfriend has his own business and when he tells a customer how much they owe, that is the amount! My boyfriend doesn't bill customers for more money! That would be a scam! It works the same here! Took my 4 year old daughter here for a checkup. The staff was friendly and helpful to start. Once the exam started, the doctor came in and looked at my daughter's teeth for less time than it took to put on the gloves. She said that my daughter had 4 cavities, 1 on each of her 4 back teeth. They then quickly got us a price and set up another appointment after suggesting that we just take care of it immediately. We had to look up the phone number to reschedule the appointment and stumbled upon a review which basically said the exact sake thing that had happened to us. We decided to get a second opinion. The new dentist did a thorough exam and said no cavities and went into detail about what she saw and have great explanation. This location is close to the mall. And I had to Uber there. My Uber driver (even thought I put the correct address) instead that the place was inside the mall so he dropped me off there. I called to ask where exactly they were and they were like 1/2 a mile away from where he dropped me off. The lady who takes appointment(Alexis?) asked if she could pick me up cause it was to long of a walk with the baby. They are very kind and I REALLY appreciate her picking us up!! So hard to get an appointment. Sometimes they answer the phone sometimes you leave a voicemail and they never call back. Waiting room time is forever. I've waited 40+ minutes before being seen and I just don't have that kind of time especially seeing people that come in AFTER me go BEFORE me. Took my 12 year old son here in the spring for the new patient special. I was told he had 4 cavities. When we asked to see the x-rays, we were told the cavities were in the very back and hard to see. Something didn't seem quite right so several months later, we took him to another dentist. We were told he had no cavities and his teeth looked great. We have been patients for 10 years and had always been treated great but things have change in the last few visits. We have noticed a high turn over in staff and their Quality of work has gone down. We had an Issues a crown i called corporate and Brandon a "manager"from the corporate office is beyond rude and never returned my calls after 5 weeks, I then left messages to his boss Jennifer and the same results. Within three years of my children being n braces we have gone through at least six different dentists and every dentist quotes a different time in braces so of course I had to pay a lot more money than what is originally quoted. Since my daughter has gone over in the time frame that was quoted so the insurance will not cover any more until the billing department fills out the insurance company's paperwork. The billing department of smile workshop has not filled out the paperwork for over four months so I am having to pay $99 extra every month. All the Hurst office can tell me is they have left a message for billing when I call them since Lisa will never call me back like she says. Then yesterday I get a bill for dental in the mail and it has my kids patient information and billing on it, along with two other people that we have never heard of and should not be on our bill. This is against the law and a direct violation of the HIPPA laws. When I call and speak with Lisa, she did not seem to care and did not try to give a resolution at all. When call any extension for the "corporate office" no one will answer and I have to leave a voicemail. I would not recommend anyone to this company. read more

After having issues with multiple dentists in my past i was petrified to have a tooth extracted. The staff at this location made things ao much easier. They were easy to talk to and made me feel quite comfortable. Dr. Michael was great. He made the process so much easier. Talked me through the entire process while it was happening all while humming and singing songs from the 80s. It was the best experience i have had at a dental clinic. read more

Smile Workshop is a company that I will never use again. The location I primarily used though was specifically the Hurst, Texas location. The complaint I have is that this company as a hole does not care about a consumer complaint when it comes to their customer service model. It was very clear when I spoke to the COO, Jennifer Thomas. I received terrible service from this location and complained multiple times about this through the month of August in 2017. I finally had to complain through social media to finally get a response on my complaint to only get an "I'm sorry, but we can't do anything about it." I paid for a permanent retainer on 8/1 and this complaint is being written on 9/11 and I still don't have my permanent retainer. I have called numerous times and I keep getting the same answer - We have to check with the lab. I also received inadequate plastic retainers that did not retain my teeth correctly. The dental assistant that fitted my plastic retainers said that it didn't matter that they didn't fit - she would refit them when I get my permanent retainer. Because the plastic retainers did not fit, my teeth moved. I am in no way a certified dental assistant or licensed orthodontist so I trusted the words of a certified dental assistant when she said "It didn't matter that they didn't fit." The COO, Jennifer Thomas, responded to that with "We encourage you to retain your teeth so that they do not move" How was I supposed to retain my teeth with inadequate retainers? I am honestly baffled that a company of such stature just doesn't care about how a consumer is treated or the fact that a consumer paid for a service that they never received. My son and I have been going to Smile Workshop for probably 10 years with no problems. However last year the dentist recommended work that would be $500.00. The office manager assured me that the work would be covered by my insurance, so I agreed to the work. Suddenly, several months later, I started getting an invoice for the work. I tried to call on several occasions the number on the invoice and a call was never returned, but the following month another invoice arrived. I went to the Hurst location, spoke to the same office manager who ASSURED me the work would be covered and she would take care of it. Another month and another invoice. This time I wrote a letter and copied the owner. A few weeks went by and I get another invoice saying I was 2 months shy of being able to have my work covered and I needed to pay $500.00. I personally think that since I have been a patient there for so many years, since the office manager assured me on more than one occasion that the work would be covered, that they should write this amount off. I do not believe their billing department is very professional when they do not respond to several detailed voice calls over a 4 month period, but wait until I send a letter to their owner before they reply. I would not recommend Smile Workshop if you are planning on extensive work, as they do not know how to confirm coverage with your insurance company, they do not back the coverage, if THEIR personnel gave you incorrect information, and if there is an issue, they will not return your call. read more

I've only had problems with the staff everytime I've come in contact. They say they will call when something is ready to be picked up (in home cleaning kit) and almost weeks later I have to call and come to find out it's been ready. I was trying to give them a chance by waiting to call but of course they didn't. I've also had issues with scheduling and having to wait over an hour to be seen for a cleaning. When I brought it up the lady at the desk explained that there was someone special in the office today so everything had been delayed. Would've been nice to of known that with a call before to warm me and I wouldn't have wasted my time. I do have a job and I do go to school, so I can't wait around all day until they decide they are able to see me even after have a scheduled appointment. Do not go here! read more
