You will never walk away having to convince yourself they're 'just nails,' and they are 'good enough,' for the next few weeks til they're ready for a refresh. With any service, you want to feel like the person you are leaving it in the hands of loves what they do. When a person loves their trade they take pride in the quality of their work, the satisfaction of their client, and continues to educate themselves because that is the sign that you'll never have to settle for mediocre. Jazza is a new nail studio that happens to be a family owned small business; and in my humble opinion, THESE are the core types of businesses that contribute to making our Chicagoland area so great. From the start, they invested in the products they provide within their services and have slowly built up their staff of nail technicians in scale with the amount of business they are attracting. They have stocked the nail studio itself with every polish you can dream of. It's like a walk-in closet for all things "nail." They offer builder gel and TAP gel products as well so you have wide range of options that fit every nails need. Circling back to Faye and choosing a craftswoman... I have learned from Faye that the natural oils of my nail don't allow for the regular acrylic gel to give me a reasonable duration of time before lifting and needing a new set to be applied. Previously, mine were lifting within the first week of application. Faye, anticipating my needs and recognizing that is unacceptable, tried out TAP gel on my nails to see if this product doesn't give me the same issue and VOILA! Now my nails last 3-4 weeks with no lifting and I see her for a refresh when they've simply gotten overgrown. Over the 4 years she's been my nail technician, I've had the pleasure of witnessing her anticipate her other clients needs just as accurately - whether it's regular polish, gel, builder gel, TAP gel, acrylic... you will get an invaluable experience in Faye's chair and walk away with a beautiful end result and a satisfaction that you can sit back, relax, and TRUST the professional! Once the service was done, I was ready to check out when my cost was over what I had ordered. Turns out the lady did NOT understand me considering she doesn't speak or understand English, so the owner did not take any accountability and proceeded to charge me the incorrect service, because in her eyes it's my fault. I was quite pleased to find that they never use that for gel nails, a policy that I wish more salons would adopt. I appreciate that they did not try to upsell me, but I do think it would have been nice to have more services such as a bit more of a massage or some more scrubs. It was quite basic and I wasn't offered other options. I was then moved to the manicure table after the pedicure was complete. Like the pedicure, it went by quite quickly. Not that it is necessary, but the staff really made no attempt to have a conversation at all. I'm OK with it, but they could have come across a little friendlier. No one was rude at all, but it just wasn't the warmest environment. As far as the manicure, I liked the color, but the gel dried unevenly with a few bumps here and there which annoyed me. I could tell she was caught off guard when I followed up with "well, that's odd, you charged the lady before me $20?" To which she said "you're right I did charge her different", at this point her face was bright red. Moral of the story is, she didn't know I spoke Spanish and understood that she handled the transaction before me completely different and up-charged me. She offered no further explanation as to why she up-charged me. And to me that is the baseline of discrimination.
