Entertaining.... Creamy yummy goodness. I brought my kiddos here to enjoy some yummy ice cream. Usually we show up to an ice cream parlor and we are excited about choosing and tasting all the flavors. This place is very different. They have a list of flavors to choose from but the fun part is they make the ice cream right in front of you. They pour the ice cream cream over an anti griddle and start mixing in all the yummy additions to your ice cream. Then instead of scooping it they rool into into this beautiful bouquet of yumminess. Ultimately, I settled on #15: Teas Me, a matcha/Thai iced tea combo. (Note: I got hooked up for free as part of a Yelp Elite event.) Watch as the magic unfolds! The employee combined ingredients atop a flat, cold metal slab. Using small metal spatulas, the mixture was spread evenly across the surface, then finally scraped up in a roll. Hence, rolled ice cream. Each order comes with unlimited toppings. I opted for strawberries, blueberries, banana slices, rainbow sprinkles, and a raspberry drizzle. Intrigued by another customer's selection, I also requested a few shakes of tamarind chili powder on top. YOLO. There's something special about having ice cream made to order, and the taste did not disappoint. The blueberries exploded with flavor, while the strawberries offered a tart counterplay against the smooth lushness of the ice cream. Teas Me delivered all the tea flavor I could ask for. Definitely a kid-friendly place. They apparently have a loyalty rewards program as well, so check it out if you're an ice cream nut. They spread it out, it eventually freezes into a sheet and they cut it into sections and till it up. It really looks like frozen multicolored mini tacitos. You can then add toppings and enjoy. The ice cream was great. The service was great. It took a little long to cycle all 6 of us through but it was worth the wait. It was a lil pricey about 7-8.00 a person. It's a pretty big serving. However- be aware if your kids are like mine and don't like seeds inside their ice cream do not get strawberry or raspberry. It was really good. But so much seeds. The one thing I wished was that the toppings were more available for customers to actually see. Not just on a chalkboard. The kids like to see what they're getting. So many local spots in Albuquerque that ive been to in 2019 from burger joints like Griff's to Chef owned High Point Grill near cottonwood. Aahhh decisions...decisions... Currently, what has my heart is Icicles Rolled Ice Cream by UNM! And although this 2015 chain is based out of the bay area, the Albuquerque locations are locally owned. I wasn't 100% thrilled with the first location not because its not a wonderful product but because of little issues of a new up and running company. However, the UNM location for me is way kool for a couple of reasons. 1. Its a hop, skip & a jump away from where I live so I come here more often. 2. The staff is flippin awesome! 3. Its by UNM so there are other fun places in the area. Ex: in the warmer weather I can buy an icicles and walk across the street to UNM, go to the duck pond and relax with my kool little creation! 4. The kool staff (mentioned above) lets me write my name on my ice cream container! Go Donut Kween!!!! The locations have the same menu which is expected for a chain. Whatever you choose, this time or next, there are many combinations that eventually you are bound to try that perfect flava-flav you're lookin' for! They have cream based as well as juice based/dairy free icicles! Its also interactive! My hipster husband convinced me to try Icicles after a long bike ride. I've never actually met anyone who doesn't like ice cream, but I'm not always the biggest ice cream fan. Sometimes it's just... too much? I'm even less a fan of overpriced mediocre ice cream, which was my biggest fear about icicles. I was super surprised with the quality and taste. I think the biggest thumbs up comes from the fact that they use custard and not ice cream. According to google custard is made with egg yolks and has a lower air content making it thick and rich and creamy. I had the ferrarri rolls which tasted exactly like a ferrero rocher(awesome!). Someone else in my group got a mai thai, and it blew my mind. So so good. I also didn't know until the end that you can have UNLIMITED TOPPINGS! It makes up for the fact that you're spending $7+ on ice cream. If I was smart enough I'd try to get them to give me enough toppings to take some home. The one downside to my visit was the poor costumer service. I have literally never seen a group of people so miserable while being surrounded by dessert. It was like the doldrums, Eeyore, and Gollum had a bunch of customer service babies and gave them jobs at an ice cream store. If you can grin and bear the bad costumer service and you like dessert enough to spend $7+ on it I think it's well worth it. read more

First off its in a cute remote semi stripmall-esque area on a side street off central DT. Super cool vibey area! We walk up to trendy tables outside in a patio area and when we go in, no one was there, which I thought awesome cuz who likes long lines?! Well they were only open 5 days at that point so I considered us super lucky! The kid up front was so nice very explanatory about the menu and how to order! The price set us off a bit at 8 dollars a pop BUT you get the rolled ice cream(custard really, can't tell a difference personally) and UNLIMITED toppings! Its a lil pricey but 2 people can definitely share. He actually offered us a buy 1/get 1 since we knew nada about the place and it was brand spanking new! (Please dont ask for that) I think it was just a random thing :) Anyway, I got the avocado rolled ice cream with graham cracker crumble, toasted marshmallow and condensed milk topping! My sister ordered the cookie butter one with marshmallow and cereal topping! One word AMAZING!!! We went back for other toppings. Mini cheesecake bites were bomb! Neither of us could finish it so thats why I recommended sharing! Especially since 1 person can get their favorite toppings and the other person the same! You can't go inside the restaurant no more and they don't have half the menu available and there was only one girl working by herself.
