Wow, had no idea this place existed but drove by while visiting from out of state and had to stop. They offer a great range of flavors, I stuck with my favorite, plain coconut. So I have been to many small markets where I can open the freezer up and grab a coconut paletas and they are always good. THIS one, not good, absolutely incredible- rich, creamy and not too sweet. Went in to get the Dubai strawberries and was told $15... some baked Arabian puff pastry pistachio butter chocolate and strawberries shouldn't be that much, if I wanted 5 for my whole family it would've been $75?, I get the inflation but the prices are always going to be getting higher but I'm sure the price is mostly just because it's a trendy dessert right now, better off just making it yourself everyone. Not only that the girl working got annoyed with my dad asking about the price again since he didn't hear the first time she said it and she rolled her eyes and sighed then told him, if there's going to be such rude workers here I also suggest not going here. I really wanted to love The Paleta Bar. As a small local business, I came in with high hopes and a sweet tooth. Unfortunately, my experience was anything but sweet. I ordered a paleta milkshake, a medium aguas frescas, and a large elote. The drink items were fine, but the elote was a huge letdown. It came in about a 12oz cup, and only the top layer had any of the classic elote fixings. The rest was just plain, soggy corn. No seasoning, no flavor--just... wet corn. It was honestly gross. When I asked for a refund on just the elote, I was told I'd have to return my entire order because their POS system "can't refund a single item." That meant I had to re-purchase the two items I actually wanted to keep. Completely unprofessional and super frustrating. Then I asked about the Dubai chocolate strawberry cup and was told it would cost $15 for a small. When I asked why, the response was, "Inflation," and "I'm the cheapest you'll find in the area." He also told me that I was not the first person to complain about the price--which only made the justification feel even more out of touch. I'm all for supporting local, but this experience was overpriced, poorly handled, and left a bad taste in my mouth--literally and figuratively. Do better. read more

The Paleta con crema was delicious! They put a paleta in a cup and then fill the cup w/fresas con crema. I got a strawberry-something paleta, in milk chocolate, covered w/pistachios. perfection. Unfortunately the elote (corn) was inedible, and I got a large cup. I should've asked for a sample to taste the corn. It was hard in texture and didn't have the flavor of corn or aroma of corn. Not sure if all New Mexican corn is like this. If I'd done a blind taste test, I wouldn't know it was corn and sadly ended up tossing it in the trash. It hurts my heart to throw away food. I was already back at my hotel and called the business to let them know. Thankfully I had chosen a text receipt. They were prompt at remedying the situation and provided me a refund. The receipt says Satine, not sure if thats who it was, a younger blonde girl. While her coworkers were making our drinks and chips, she was questioning us about what we ordered asking us specifics about each item so she can ring it up. We believe its the employees job to understand what their team members are working on to ring up the customer properly, not asking with attitude when we are confused on whats being asked. LEFT NO TIP FOR THAT! Our big NO, we ordered the Dubai chocolate strawberries, ROTTEN STRAWBERRIES!!! They were soft and SOUR! It's 2020, 2 years since I last reviewed this place. We are in a global pandemic. There isn't much to do, see, eat, or ways to pass time in this new world. However, the boyfriend and I wanted a sweet treat to follow our perfect home cooked dinner. We did NOT want more dishes. We ordered off of Grubhub for sweet paletas, aqua fresca, and he was gonna try the fruit with chile tajin and lime for the first time. I've been working up to this place with my little gringo!! He loved the fruit cup! The mix of sweet fruit, spicy tajin, spritzed with lime, and a Mexican syrup to make it AMAZINGLY refreshing. He was about to drink the syrup at the end of the cup because he liked it that much. He's cute, but this cup made him cuter!! As always the cucumber-lime aqua fresca was refreshing and filled with real chunks of cucumber. He got the new blueberry-lime aqua fresca and he loved it. For those who don't know, "aqua fresca" is just fresh squeezed juice made from a mix of fruits. We also got a paleta each waiting in the freezer for a little later. I got a pistachio dipped in dark chocolate with piñon (worth the extra 70¢) and be got a hazelnut crunch paleta with milk chocolate dipped in piñon. You can choose other toppings that don't cost extra as well. We love this place. It is not expensive. It's refreshing. It's fresh. Delivery was prompt and nothing melted because the company does a good job of packing their deliveries. All together we paid $28, but we tipped very well because it's the time to tip and be giving to those who give. 10/10!! I would still recommend this place to anyone. This particular location was located next to the Spring Rollin', which is owned by the same person. They had many selections like mango and pistachio, two of my favorites, but I chose mango. Their popsicles are on the smaller side than the average. I had mine dipped in dark chocolate and coconut flakes and cookie crumbles. My brother-in-law had bubble gum flavor with white chocolate and rainbow sprinkles. Then we were asked about drinks, had samples and opted for the horchata and cucumber lime drinks. I've never had a paleta popsicle dressed up like this before and it was a delight. The chocolate held up and was thicker than I expected and had a bite to it. Mango was icy but not overly sweet. I prefer mango popsicles to be on the creamier side, but I'll still try the other flavors to be sure if I'll repeat coming here. BIL enjoyed his and it was his first time too. Beware. Not all Paleta Bar shops are the same in ABQ. This one is the BEST! The one in the Sawmill Market is only give 1 star. The bar was half the size. No dark chocolate at all. Milk Choc was too thick and toppings only on one side. I ordered the Coconut bar only to find no coconut. The topping of Almonds was okay. One side only.
