Hands-down the best Ramen restaurant in Amarillo. I especially loved the spicy miso Ramen.

best food, worst customer service, I have to literally drive by to see if they are open, because they do not answer the phone. really frustrating, even when attempting to dine in, it is Always packed and running out of food. maybe they should expand instead of buying lusury sports cars which are the cooks parked outside. bad business but Good food IF you can get lucky enough to eat it. smh read more

My wife had the Chicken Fried Rice...had couple slices of chicken and couple pieces of onions with bed of mushy rice. Such a major rip off!!! Will never go there again!!! read more

The Tom Yum Miso ramen was great! Spicy and full of flavor... also huge. The place is only open for takeout right now but you can call ahead or order there and they will bring it out to your car. read more

This place was fantastic. The atmosphere was great and we got a fantastic show. I ordered the steak and lobster and both were cooked to perfection. The fried rice was like a mountain on the plate. The tempura was excellent and I'm not a tempura person. The sushi was to die for. Man I loved the salmon skin roll, and the eel roll was perfect. Our chef was a blast and gave our family an unforgettable experience. Saki Bomb ! Saki Bomb ! Saki Bomb ! If you've been here you know what that means ! I will definitely be coming back to eat here and for me it's a 5 hour drive. This is most definitely a place to go out of your way to enjoy. Great food. Great service. Great atmosphere. Not legit. Not even close. Egg noodles are not "ramen", chachu pork served was bland and flavorless. The soupbase was just greasy, no umami at all. That wasn't even the biggest issue. It took more than half an hour to get my ramen after my egg rolls had already been served. The only positive to this is the server who was attentive and apologetic. The backsplash on the counter was dirty. The japanese people suffered enough for their transgressions back in WWII. They dont need this place calling themselves "Number One" in Japanese bringing additional shame to their culture. read more

I have tried this restaurant twice & was extremely disappointed both times. My first visit, I ordered a spicy noodle dish & it was so slimy with egg yolk that I actually pulled over on our way home & threw it in the dumpster. So awful, it tasted sour & the egg was a slimy mess all over the noodles. My second time, I ordered fried rice with chicken & vegetables. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't very good either. Maybe I'm ordering the wrong thing, because people seem to really like the food on these reviews. I can't say I will be back. read more

This is my favorite restaurant! I have seen others complain about wait times and hours of operation, but this is a family owned business that has its priorities right. This is definitely a hidden gem and I'm glad I finally got to try this place. They serve a typical fusion menu including ramen and rice bowls. The menu is actually pretty extensive. You walk in there are bar seats along with tables with an open view of the chef in the kitchen. Large woks are firing and you can smell the oil and all the food being cooked. I do warn you that the food does seem to be on the sweeter side than I am used to. The soup comes out piping hot as do the appetizers. I was able to try their spicy ramen and it is very filling with noodles chewy and bouncy. I was also able to try the mapotofu bowl which was amazing albeit a bit on the sweet side. read more

When I drove up to the establishment my first thought was to turn around and pick another restaurant. But, the reviews promised an experience that overshadowed my desire to leave. I'm glad I listened to the reviews. The place is small with no frills. Still the food, and the long line that develop after I arrived, proved that fancy settings and chandeliers were not necessary to impress. Location is small so avoid coming at peak hours for the best experience. Try the Tom Yum Miso Ramen it is DELICIOUS and pretty spicy for an Asian restaurant. The waitress is very knowledgeable about the menu and can make a good recommendation if you give her an idea of what you're looking for. WARNING: the majority of the items contain pork but just ask the waitress what doesn't contain pork if this is a concern for you. The price is VERY reasonable given the gigantic portions of ramen. Glad we found the reviews for this restaurant, otherwise we wouldn't have stopped. Ichiban wasn't open when we arrived at 4:50 pm but promptly opened at 5:00 pm. The restaurant was small, nothing fancy but the service was quick and the food good. As several previous postings, the seasoning tended to be on the salty side. The noodle dishes weren't too badly over salted but the soup's broth was too salty to fully enjoy. The rest of the soup was delicious. read more

This is my favorite place in town! We've been dying for a good authentic noodle shop in Amarillo, and this place is outstanding. So far we've come here strictly for the ramen, especially the chile ramen. The noodles are perfectly done, the pork is tender and flavorful and the broth is divine. Spicy, but not so much that it burns your face off. The egg rolls are the best in town. Crispy, flaky and delicious. I haven't had any of the other dishes yet, but they all look incredible. Can't wait to try everything! The service was quick both times I've been in, even though they look a little understaffed. Last time we came in on a Wednesday night and it was pretty packed. I hope it stays that way. We need more places like this in Amarillo! read more

Me and my buds love this place. The place is small but it's not cramped either. The staff are nice and attentive. We usually order the Gyoza for an appetizer, they are pretty tasty. This last time we chose the fried tofu. I'm not a frequent eater of tofu but I can at least tell you that I enjoyed it. The portion sizes are more than enough to fill your stomach. I ordered the Ichiban Ramen. The meat is a bit subpar. Other than that the ramen isn't super oily and pretty yummy. read more

Be aware: what says "spicy" is anything but. I ordered the spiciest thing on the menu and asked the waitress if it was, in fact, super spicy, she said no. She was right. Being born and raised in Hawaii and half Japanese, living in West Texas made it difficult for me to find a ramen restaurant... until I found Ichiban. This is the most authentic ramen restaurant I have found thus far in my search. I had the Ichiban ramen and the gyoza. Both dishes were simply amazing and what I am used to in taste. The food is apparently very good here. I say apparently because my wife and I tried to eat here tonight but left and went somewhere else due to the real and serious problems with customer service and layout of this restaurant. First, this place is TINY. That's not necessarily a problem, but the vast majority of the space is taken by a huge open kitchen, leaving little room for tables and waiting area. A waiting area is important because the restaurant was packed and people waiting to be seated, people waiting to pay and two small tables near the door were all crammed into a tiny area. It was cold tonight and the poor folks at the table by the door must have been freezing. We walked in and waited in the tiny area at the front near the register. No sign said "Wait to be Seated" or "Seat Yourself" so we waited. The hostess/cashier/table busser (one person was apparently all three) was trying to run a credit card and having trouble. She ignored us. A couple walked in and she said "Go ahead and sit down, I'll clear the table in a minute." Finally she said to us, "Two? Okay, there's a wait list." Didn't take our names, didn't tell us how long the wait would be, didn't tell us where to wait. Eventually we figured out that people were waiting in their cars until they were called in some mysterious way to come in and sit down. Another party of four came in, pushed past us and went to sit in the back. There was no indication on Yelp of the odd "waitlist" system or that reservations were (I guess?) recommended. After several more minutes, four parties were standing in line to (very slowly) settle their bills. We left after waiting for a good fifteen minutes and being mostly ignored. We went to Bangkok Tokyo which was wonderful. I guess we'll just have to miss out on all that apparently wonderful food at Ichiban because we won't be back. read more

I ordered a basic ramen, the noodle is not the Japanese ramen at all. It's one of those Chinese thick noodle , which is usually for frying. The soup base was also so so. It's not quality at all. Went for my first time, was not impressed. There was one waitress. When we first arrived people were cluttered at the front to be seated. The appetizer (egg rolls) took 30 min to come out. We then waited an hour for food that never came so we left. The waitress felt bad and did give us our appetizer and our drinks for free since that was all that was given to us in the hour period we were there. Overall will never go back. read more

This place is NOT a sushi restaurant so if you are from out of town and in search of raw fish, don't waste your time coming here. They do Japanese noodles and that's about it. The three-star rating is not reflective of the restaurant, but yelp requires a rating and I thought somebody ought to put this up to keep others from making the same mistake I did. This is one of Amarillo's hidden gems! It is a tiny little restaurant with limited seating and hours. Their ramen is amazing! Their gyoza never disappoints! You can sit at the ramen bar and watch the chefs freshly prepare your meal. There is usually just one server, but she does an amazing job with how busy this place gets. They do offer other menu items, but I definitely suggest getting a ramen bowl on your first visit! read more
