We were in the mood for some good Thai food and found this place in a shopping center on Hillside. The restaurant is small, but very beautiful. If you are not hungry, believe me, the smells in the air will get you there! We started with egg rolls and fried pork wontons, which came with a nice side salad. The egg rolls are perfectly crispy and the sweet & sour sauce that comes with it is not overly sweet! The wontons have a more delicate texture and are well complemented by a peanut sauce. I ordered the Tom Yum Kung soup with shrimp, and was pleasantly treated to a steaming bowl with mushrooms and coconut milk. It is spicy, but not uncomfortably so. If you love good Thai, you might find this place to your liking. The waitresses are friendly and very patient with those unfamiliar with Thai cuisine. read more

I was disappointed in this place. The egg rolls and steamed rice were good but the rest was subpar. You can tell a lot about a Thai place based on their hot sauce and theirs was completely watered down. More water than anything else. The fried rice was also over cooked. I hate writing a less than stellar review but that's how I felt. I ordered 3 things to go, (sweet and sour chicken, beef broccoli, and crab wontons) an hour before they closed (8:00) but the person who took my phone order said they closed at 8:30 so I rushed over just to wait until 8:45 for my food, bc they close at 9:00. The 3 items cost $29, which would be fine if the servings were standard but they were served as half orders and the wontons were tiny. The most heartbreaking part was that the wantons had no crab in them they were just sweet/salty cream cheese wontons and were honestly gross (I only ate 2/10 which is not my normal M/O). It's strange reviewing things during a pandemic. I have never personally dined in here, but I have ordered delivery and pick-up. Here's my take: the delivery and pick-up is quick. The food is good. I've tried a few different things off their menu like pad Thai, beef jerky, soup, and a few other items. It's always been decent. My only qualm is getting through when you call them. They are either super busy, or maybe don't hear their phone ring. It was a process to place an order over the phone on a few occasions. Either no one answered or the line was busy. But, I get it. My husband and I have always gone to Thai Taste and had many wonderful meals. The last time we are there it was horrible. We wanted to try something different and so I ordered the chicken choy mein. Before I even took a bite I knew it was bad. The smell of rancid cooking oil was strong. The noodles were over cooked and I had just a few big squares of cabbage mixed in. We had both had egg drop soup and chips as a first course. The soup was good so you can imagine our surprise when our meals were brought out. My husband had ordered a shrimp dish with steamed rice. His was also bad. I say bad but had it not been for the rancid oil this review might have been very different. Needless to say we will not be going back to Thai Taste in the near future. I was recommended Thai Taste by a friend who lived in Amarillo, had traveled to Thailand, and said Thai Taste was their favorite Thai restaurant in Amarillo. I definitely enjoyed my meal here. The menu looks good, based on what I found online, but I didn't find out about the quality of the food because I left due to poor service and the attitude of the server. After waiting for 15 minutes for her ro do as much as bring me a menu, nevermind take my order, while others were being served, I was finally able to make eye contact and get her to come to the table. When she finally did she acted as if the situation was my fault and told me that I should have come to her because there were people waiting on to go orders and it looked like I was one of them?! For the record, I was sitting at a table in the middle of the dining area, not standing over by the counter, and the man at the front by the entrance - the one greeting people as they came in (who also never bothered to have her come to my table) had told me to have a seat anywhere. I got up to leave because of the server's attitude and she snatched back the menu that she had placed on the table, walking off put out since she evidently had more important things to do. For years, the service and food of Thai Taste have been subpar. From consistently wrong to-go orders, to poorly cooked boba, and most recently (on two occasions) rotten avocado in their Thai Wrap. I've kindly made suggestions and given feedback, but no changes have been seen. I don't know why I keep giving them chances! Sure, they get the orders right some days and you might get lucky with your avocados (but not the boba, it always is terrible), but my years of experience of giving to this restaurant a chance and them failing at quality and service are what has stopped me from coming here. If you're a gambler or super hungry, I say go for it! Otherwise, there are better Thai places in town which provide a better experience on all fronts. read more

I've been to a few Thai restaurants around town and this has to be one of my favorites. The food comes out quick with good service. I ordered pad kee Mao extra spicy. The noodles were cooked perfectly and the dish was packed with flavor and spice. My mouth was watering by the time I could dig in. I went with some friends and they enjoyed their dishes as well. I really love their food! It's cheap and it's really fast. The servers are a little bit hard to understand over the phone but that's understandable. It's a great place to have a quick lunch, every time my friend comes to visit we always go here at least once. The food comes out really hot and fresh, and they have a decent variety on their menu. We have had food from here a couple times and the food was pretty good. This last experience was very different. I called in the order and the bad experience happened when I picked it up. I noticed they had shoved most of our large order in one bag and even turned some sideways and I thought maybe the turned one was just the egg rolls. The other bag had just one container in it. I took the food out to my car and noticed both bags were leaking. I took the bags back inside and the lady was very rude and acted like it was my fault the bags had pools of liquid in them. After waiting 10 mins just so they could put the food in the new containers another rude girl came and gave us our food and said "try not to spill it this time" like it was our fault again. We eat at Thai Taste fairly frequently & when it is good, it's good! When it's bad, it's terrible. We ordered 3 of the same entree for a takeout order & when we got it home, it was awful. The sauce was watery & did not taste right. I called the restaurant to let them know & the person that answered the phone was completely rude & said "I don't know what's wrong with the kitchen tonight, they've been messing everything up" I was not offered an apology or anything else.
