We went to this place because it was near our hotel. It was great. I had the Ginger with Vegetables and fried rice, SO had the Garlic with pork. There was plenty of fresh ginger in the dish and lots of fresh veg. Onion, snow peas, carrot, broccoli, in a tasty brown sauce. SO said the Garlic dish was a little salty but he enjoyed it. Prices were fair and portions were good. The service was very good, we were checked on a couple of times, the food came quickly. Meh...the pad Thai was good and tasted pretty authentic but the red curry had a layer of grease on top that you couldn't even stir in plus there were zero vegetables in it except for a few bamboo shoots. The staff was very nice and the order was ready quick. We decided on Thai Food for dinner and were seriously disappointed. We ordered ice tea and suspect they do not use any type of water filter and just make tea using the tap water, which Amarillo is known for to have terrible tasting water (high minerals, chlorine (which is a poison) to make it safe and all that bad taste was still there in the wonton soup and any other dish that relies on the water as a base. The servers were very nice and attentive, but that doesn't make up for the overall experience, since to food is supposed to be the star of the show! This can probably be turned around by the owners installing serious water filters and then using that water for food and drink preparation. I wish them luck! read more

I had a pretty disappointing experience at Thai Town in Amarillo. While the food is actually good, the customer service and card fee policy left a lot to be desired. They charge a 4% fee for using a card, which I think is excessive--especially since they don't clearly post this anywhere. When I told the cashier I didn't want to pay the fee, she had a noticeably bad attitude. She didn't smile, avoided eye contact, and just generally made me feel unwelcome. She called over someone else to help her, and even then, the attitude didn't improve. Eventually, they reduced the card fee slightly, but the way it was handled was awkward and passive-aggressive. When it came time to pay, she held out the card reader without saying a word, just staring off into space and waiting for me to figure out she wanted me to use Apple Pay. After an awkward silence, she finally mumbled "you ready?" instead of just clearly communicating. The food might be worth coming back for, but I'd honestly think twice because of how I was treated. If you do go, bring cash--unless you want to pay extra and deal with unfriendly service. read more

Ordered a Pad Kee Mao (spicy version of Drunken Noodle/Pad Se Ew) Added chicken and extra vegetable. And a Thai iced tea. Was told it would be ready in 15 min and appreciated the heads up that it was cash only. Food was ready when I arrived. Lady at window was sweet. Food was hot and loaded with veggies. Definitely a large enough serving for two people. Noodles had great texture and flavor. The Thai iced tea, large size, was HUGE. I do wish I had ordered the small drink. Everything was hot and fresh Pad Thai so hot couldn't eat it for a few minutes back at the hotel. Egg rolls evaporated quickly they came wrapped in a paper bag and were just a tad greasy on outside. So amazing. We're Thai food snobs being from the Houston area we have no shortage of incredible SE Asian cuisine and we were so pleased with this for takeout. As others have noted, the pad kee mao is outstanding: perfectly cooked noodles and on-point zingy flavor. Tofu wasn't shown on the menu l, but they added it for me. Plenty for two people/two meals. The egg drop soup (vegetarian) was also fantastic, with lots of green onion. read more

I frequent this restaurant particularly on Fridays after work. 2 Fridays ago I placed my order with 2 orders of Wantons but when i arrived home 12 miles later, I noticed I only had received 1 order of wantons with my order. i decided to just let it go, besides it was only 1 order less and to far to go all the way back to complain. The following Friday I go back and ordered as usual and the sweet lady taking my order said...We owe you an order of wantons, I said, thats ok. The sweet lady stated , no, I will give you 2 orders of wantons but only charge you for 1 order. I was so moved by what she did. The sweet lady that brings my order to my vehicle is also very very sweet, smiling, very courteous...She evens bows and says Thank You after giving you your order. I was in town for business and found this place on my way to the hotel. I'm glad I stopped because the food was delicious. I kept it pretty simple and just had chicken pad Thai but I have to say that was some of the best chicken pad Thai I've had. The service was great and everyone was very nice. I also had the Thai tea and my only complaint about that was that it was a tad bit too sweet for my taste.
