Very disappointed with our recent visit. We waited over an hour for our food and never received it, while multiple to-go orders were sent out. Dine-in customers who frequent weekly should not be ignored especially during lunch. We had to return for work so no lunch this day. Best Thai food in town. Plates are ready in minutes...food taste fresh...great service and reasonable prices. Get here early because seating is limited. You can also call in your orders ahead of time and they will be ready to eat when you go to dine in or carry out. The best Thai food in the city with (for my money) the best Thai food in the country. So why no five-star review? Service was, and always has been, spotty. And on this visit, it was downright terrible. But how about that food? Delicious as usual. I used to live in Amarillo, so I have had many of the items on their menu, but now every time I come back (which isn't often), I get the shrimp pad thai. SO yummy! Love the sweet peanutty sauce and the fresh bean sprouts. They give you plenty of shrimp, and the noodles aren't gummy like bad pad thai. And I love the slice of lime that brightens everything up. My husband had the same (same reaction, for the most part), and our friend Deb had the chicken chow mein, which she loved as well. The decor certainly is nothing to rave about and, as I said, the service pretty much sucks. But the food is so good that I can overlook the negatives and still leave happy and full. read more

Incredible. Authentic. Consistent. Be careful, however, as many of their dishes can leave a fire in your mouth. The Pad Piek is by far the hottest dish I have ever attempted to consume. Holy smokes. When they bring it out people clear away. There are things I don't love on the menu but the beef salad, seafood soup, pad pic, fried fish are all great. Used to be a good and "easy to get to" location right until they built this huge bridge infront of it. Not that many people know about this location. They're only open lunch time mon-fri (with the execption of fri open through dinner) and closed weekends. It's funny cause I always see cop cars posted up in the parking lot all the time. One of the reasons I like yelp is that a person can find a great hole in the wall restaurant in other cities. This place fits the description well, which makes it even more enticing. The service was great, the owner greeted us and even offered up some green papaya she was eating. I eat Thai all over and this was one of the better establishments. A tiny little place but the food is phenomenal! Thai food is our families favorite and we go to great distances to eat great Thai food, including traveling to Thailand. Only downside for me was being a vegetarian they didn't have a protein option like Tofu but I'm sure they don't get a lot of requests for it. The owner/cook is very hospitable and kind. My only complaint is if your in a hurry it can take a while to get too off the freeway, there can be more traffic than you'd expect in the middle of a week day. We were in Amarillo for a horse show at the Tri County Fairgrounds(nearby) and used Yelp to find a place to eat. Thai Star came up and we love Thai food and decided to try it. I have to say if it hadn't have come highly recommended I probably wouldn't have stopped to eat here. It's a tiny little place on what used to be Route 66 (the old major route through Amarillo) but given the reviews we forged ahead. We of course, tried the Beef Salad, which was awesome absolutely delicious with heat to boot. We also ordered a Ginger Chicken (Pad Piek?) that that was very good but pretty hot. The owner came out and sat down and talked with us, who was very charming, she is delightful! She asked us why we ordered a noodle dish that only Thai people usually order but was the only dish that didn't burn off taste buds off. We were sitting there eating, sniffling, knowing that we had come across something special, the delicious food , the heat, the charming owner. We had 3 more days in Amarillo and I knew we would be coming back! The owner proposed that upon return that she would cook a meal for us that we would love. We returned, she cooked and it was unreal, this time the Beef Salad even better and hotter than previously! We travel through Amarillo again in November and I'm sure that we will return, with our taste buds salivating 70 miles out, I'm certain of that! read more

I'm sure for the area this a great restaurant. The owner is an extremely nice woman who greets every patron privately. The place looks very rundown, from the interior I'd guess it was a small retail store before or an insurance company or something. The food was fine, nothing terrible but nothing wholly delicious either. My curry tasted overly fatty and my wife's pad thai was very soggy with little crunch. When I asked for heat they laughed at me and said taste it before you ask for spice, I laughed too. When I tasted the curry it had very little heat, I didn't say anything because I had already been made to feel self conscious. Like I said nothing great here, nothing terrible either. I ordered "Chicken Paa Ciu" to pick up right after they opened for the day but it seemed to me they used the old oil which made my food so awful, eggs and chicken got burned due to being overcooked. Also, its ridiculously expensive for just a Chicken Paa Ciu with $10.01 after tax in such an ugly designed restaurant I have ever been while many other Thai restaurants in Amarillo, nice and supper clean, you pay that $10.01 for a combination meal with chicken, pork and shrimp. Only one choice of those costs you around maximum $9 after tax I am sure. Never go back and won't recommend for sure. read more
