This restaurant can compete with any other this restaurant in a major city and win with flavor and authenticity. I only came here at the recommendation of some locals and I am so thankful I did. Admittedly, a bit skeptical at the humble exterior, but inside it was welcoming, clean, and sure got full during the lunch hour. All of the food was packed high (I couldn't finish my plate and that is a rarity!) Ask for the heat "princess hot" - as hot as one of the Vietnamese waitresses likes it - it'll burn your face off with heat and great flavor. I can't wait to go back to Amarillo to try something else off the menu. Amazing.

Best Thai food in town. Plates are ready in minutes...food taste fresh...great service and reasonable prices. Get here early because seating is limited. You can also call in your orders ahead of time and they will be ready to eat when you go to dine in or carry out. This is kind of a hole in the wall gem but don't pass up the looks for the amazing food. Give it a try and you won't be disappointed. Every plate is delicious. I went two days in a row just to try other items while visiting the town for work. I can't wait to visit again and try more menu items.

Looks dicey on the outside. Tastes great on the inside!

The best Thai food in the city with (for my money) the best Thai food in the country. So why no five-star review? Service was, and always has been, spotty. And on this visit, it was downright terrible. But how about that food? Delicious as usual. I used to live in Amarillo, so I have had many of the items on their menu, but now every time I come back (which isn't often), I get the shrimp pad thai. SO yummy! Love the sweet peanutty sauce and the fresh bean sprouts. They give you plenty of shrimp, and the noodles aren't gummy like bad pad thai. And I love the slice of lime that brightens everything up. My husband had the same (same reaction, for the most part), and our friend Deb had the chicken chow mein, which she loved as well. The decor certainly is nothing to rave about and, as I said, the service pretty much sucks. But the food is so good that I can overlook the negatives and still leave happy and full.

DELICIOUS authentic Thai food. Highly recommend the Tom Kha soup and red curry-they cured my cold!

Great food at a decent price. I enjoyed the curry dishes! The spice is spot on for good Thai cuisine.

I love the Pad Thai at the Thai Star. I like it best when the husband is cooking.

I always get the Rock & Roll roll and it's seriously my favorite. It's so fresh and flavorful every single time--I literally crave it. You can tell they're consistent with their quality, which I love. Service is always quick, and everything just runs smoothly every time I go. Definitely one of my go-to spots in Amarillo. If you haven't tried the Rock & Roll roll yet, you're missing out!!

Came here in April of 2026 to give this place a swirl ... I would give this place a 3.5 stars…read more The vibe: A casual spot that can't quite decide if it's in Bangkok or Tokyo... and honestly leans more Thailand than Japan. Decor is more Thai than Japan, nothing memorable. Service? Also fine & courteous - you'll get what you need, just not much extra. The menu moment: Lots of varieties of Thai dishes and Japanese rolls. What I tried: Pad Kee Mao (#58) -- Stir-fried udon with a full house of meats, shrimp, and veggies. Spicy, saucy, and hits the spot if you're craving pan-fried noodles. Solid portion for $14.95 -- and the one thing I'd come back for. Crispy Tofu (#5) -- Tried it for the first time... and probably the last. Didn't quite land for me. $8.95. The takeaway: Nothing really stands out here, but it gets the job done if you're in the mood for Thai-style noodles. The know before you go: No dessert. Translation: no mango sticky rice. Tragic. Next on deck: Ceviche Salad (#89) -- because curiosity wins. The bottom line: Worth it if you're nearby and want a quick noodle fix. Just keep expectations in check (and maybe skip the tofu).

As with tradition. Superstition. You gotta have Chinese New Years Eve dinner. And you gotta order…read morespecific foods to complete the ritual or else you're technically screwed for the next year. And here I am. Ubered out to Bangkok Restaurant in Amarillo in the sketchiest of all places in town, but damn ..is the food here AUTHENTIC! I've quite honestly haven't seen a Thai dine in menu so complete. In fact this is probably the first Thai restaurant having lived in Los Angeles all these years, that I've ever seen Frog-Lef Kra Pao or Pad Poo Karee (Crab Curry). And without further a do, I ordered 河粉 He Fen (Pad See Ew), to signify Peace and Longevity, I ordered Basil Frog Legs to signify Safety & Peace on return with possible fortunes on the way, I ordered catfish red curry and fish cakes to signify 年年有餘(魚)Nian Nian Yo Yu, Every year will be full of abundance, and I had the Tom Kha, and Sticky Rice Coconut Ice Cream + a Thai Ice Tea. 5 dishes in. Total signifying 五福 Five Fortunes of Good Luck. So enough about CNY, every dish I sampled here was 8.5/10. I did not dislike anything. This was almost like walking into my parents Thai Chinese Friends home as a kid and they cooked comfort food that didn't taste like commercialized Thai food. The fish filets for the cat fish were clean treated, boneless and paired well with the peas prik king similar sauce, the Kra Pao Holy Basil Frog Legs was very similar to Two Chilli Szechuan Stir Fried Frog Legs, and were too also very good. And the Padsee Ew although I liked it, it was very different, served and presented like Pad Thai with stripped cabbage and bean sprouts and even a very thin layer of egg....never seen it served like this before. And lastly the sticky rice. Just get it. A great way to finish the meal. Having come out here without my rig this first time around, I believe next time I'm just going to drive my full rig into their dirt lot. Cheers. ***Entire family including the White guy makes you feel at home**** Coming back for the Crab Curry next episode.
