As with tradition. Superstition. You gotta have Chinese New Years Eve dinner. And you gotta order specific foods to complete the ritual or else you're technically screwed for the next year. And here I am. Ubered out to Bangkok Restaurant in Amarillo in the sketchiest of all places in town, but damn ..is the food here AUTHENTIC! I've quite honestly haven't seen a Thai dine in menu so complete. In fact this is probably the first Thai restaurant having lived in Los Angeles all these years, that I've ever seen Frog-Lef Kra Pao or Pad Poo Karee (Crab Curry). And without further a do, I ordered 河粉 He Fen (Pad See Ew), to signify Peace and Longevity, I ordered Basil Frog Legs to signify Safety & Peace on return with possible fortunes on the way, I ordered catfish red curry and fish cakes to signify 年年有餘（魚）Nian Nian Yo Yu, Every year will be full of abundance, and I had the Tom Kha, and Sticky Rice Coconut Ice Cream + a Thai Ice Tea. 5 dishes in. Total signifying 五福 Five Fortunes of Good Luck. So enough about CNY, every dish I sampled here was 8.5/10. I did not dislike anything. This was almost like walking into my parents Thai Chinese Friends home as a kid and they cooked comfort food that didn't taste like commercialized Thai food. The fish filets for the cat fish were clean treated, boneless and paired well with the peas prik king similar sauce, the Kra Pao Holy Basil Frog Legs was very similar to Two Chilli Szechuan Stir Fried Frog Legs, and were too also very good. And the Padsee Ew although I liked it, it was very different, served and presented like Pad Thai with stripped cabbage and bean sprouts and even a very thin layer of egg....never seen it served like this before. And lastly the sticky rice. Just get it. A great way to finish the meal. Having come out here without my rig this first time around, I believe next time I'm just going to drive my full rig into their dirt lot. Was driving through Amarillo to get back home to Dallas so we decided to order some Thai takeout. My bf recommended a couple of other places but they were closed but he said Bangkok was also pretty good. Right now they are only taking cash it seems so we had to drive to atm. I'm not going to lie, expectations were not high but when we got the food, portions were huge. We got the beef jerky and sticky rice, Laos papaya salad extra spicy, pad Thai extra spicy and combination fried rice. All of the food was so good! When you order extra spicy be careful it is spicy but this has been the only place I've been to (including dallas) that has met my expectations when I ask for spicy. Went back with my mom and the kids and the food was yummmy and delicious as always, they don't disappoint at all the times I have gone, the portions are big and the price is ok especially with price increase, I would keep in coming back. The seafood soup, dancing shrimp, sticky rice, egg rolls are still delish, the food hasn't change and the staff is as friendly as before, I love their food as it hasn't disappointed or change at all. WOW WOW WOW!!! While in Amarillo for a week's vacation I knew I couldn't make it without Thai food. Our first night there, we stayed in Canyon, TX and ate some not-so-good Thai. Our third day in Amarillo, I found a Thai restaurant (where the food was really tasty) and asked if they made Som Tum. The waitress said they didn't but her mom's restaurant did. She wrote down the name and phone number and said it was only a mile away from there. She instructed me to order the Sum Tum Thai and said her mom makes things "Thai Hot" so order carefully. The next day I called for directions and the guy said they were "across town" from our hotel. Since I grew up in Houston, I chuckled a bit, then got the directions. If you have ever felt as though you were driving into oblivion...well my friends...this was the case. We drove and drove and drove, left civilization, then drove some more. Once we were convinced we were lost and going to be killed.... EUREKA! We found E. Amarillo Street. Once we started seeing signs in Thai...we knew we were on the right track. The outside of the restaurant was not very attractive, but after that drive we were NOT leaving without food. We went in and ordered the Sum Tum Thai (Mild), the Yam Nua (Beef Salad), and the Chow Mein. The Sum Tum Thai was the BEST we've ever had. It was piled in the middle of the plate with 4 Thai chicken wings on one end, fresh green beans and chicharones on the other. The Yam Nua was loaded with greens and beef and the Chow Mein was the same. If you are anywhere near Amarillo, you must seek out this restaurant and try it. We are from Austin and this place has ALL the Thai restaurants beat (sorry Madam Mam's...we still love you!) read more

Tried the veggie chow main, pork satay and spring rolls; none was good! Chow main noodle was made from the instant noodle. The skin of the spring rolls were so thick that it was a challenge to bite. This place was actually fairly good. Considering the place is surrounded by myriad Thai places, I suppose that I should have expected it to be fine. The Panang was definitely tasty and the rice was plentiful. My date and I felt as though this part of the meal was sufficient. The rolls/wraps/whatever that we ordered would have been fine but neither of us were expecting cream cheese to be inside. I didn't think that these tasted so great. MY NEW FAVORITE RESTAURANT IN AMARILLO! June 16th, 2012 - This place is outstandingly good and incredibly authentic! You're doing yourself an injustice if you don't at least try it for the experience. The food tasted much better and is probably much healthier than most Asian restaurants. We went there for Father's Day weekend with six people, so we all ordered something different and tried it. The whole tilapia and Thai salad were probably the most unique and memorable. The dipping gravy for the whole tilapia with whole chunks of veggies was excellent! I think the Thai salad had cabbage mango and papaya and some kind of pepper. I'm not really sure what was in it other than whole chicken wings, but it was extremely delectable. The sea soup was very tasty. There was this appetizer with sticky rice, fried pork, and cucumbers that was delicious. The stir fry veggies were good and very authentic. The yellow chicken curry was great with whole chunks of veggies and lots of meat. The lemon chicken and crab Rangoons were the only "normal Thai" dishes we ordered and the kids seemed to like them. The spring rolls were a little creamy for my taste, but I could see how some people would like them. I really liked how the menu had such a broad selection and offered something for the most traditional bread and potato pallet in our group to my "Bizarre Foods on the Travel Channel" taste buds. I think they only take cash - no check or credit card. If you're not from Amarillo or the Panhandle and adjusted to the water, the tap H20 is very harsh tasting. I would agree with some of comments here. This is not a typical thai restaurant BUT I do like their versions or interpretation here. You'll get an omelet instead of mix egg into your food, you'll get a form instead of chopsticks etc. These are minor issues for me m a taste is very similar to typical thai food and that what counts! read more

This is my go to for anything. 1st date you know if they are cool and adventurous. Hungover...omg. Pho will set you straight. Been going to this place for years! The owners are super friendly and know you by name and remember what you order. The fried rice is fantastic and so is the lad na! The summer rolls arn't your typical summer rolls as well, there is cream cheese in it which is pretty good, I prefer mine without the veggies. The pasyu is yummy too, love mine with the egg on top! This is My FAVORITE asain food restaurant!! I love the "cream cheese substance" the other reviewer had described it :-p lol. Thats actually my favorite part of the summer roll and cheese crab wontons. Its sweet and mixed in with (imitation) crab (but im not picky). If you have never had beefjerky and sticky rice, you should, the Beef jerky is think and hot and sometimes a little juicy. and the food is definatly pletiful. If you want to know what authentic Thai food is all about, you have to go East and try Bangkok. This is not "Americanized" grub. I like the green papaya salad, extra spicy - I ordered it, and they asked me if I had visited Thailand - Not the most known item on the menu for the standard business customer, I guess. The soft shell crab is fired to perfection and served with a spicy Thai sauce. The "garlic" dish is not so spicy and a real treat. Try the "dancing shrimp" if adventuresome, it s like a shrimp ceviche, but kicked up with incendiary Thai peppers. Love their version of sticky rice and beef jerky....yum!!! The Thai steak is also worth a try.....and their fried whole fish with spicy sauce is worth the wait. read more

The weird waiter that's always there I can't get over the food is good the atmosphere was awful and waiter was so strange tried to be funny but wasn't and kept touching me and sitting down next to me and touching my leg so completely uncomfortable .
