I live in Amarillo, near the Thai Menu at 6204 Hillside, not San Francisco. I have used Thai Menu for many years. It is fast, cheap, and good! Plus there is Lots of food. A single meal can easily feed two people. The staff has always been very nice, efficient, and helpful. I usually order take-out and wait in the restaurant for it, but I have eaten in the restaurant at least once and it was fine, although I think most people also order take-out as I have never seen more than a few people eating in the restaurant at once, but there is a continual stream of people arriving to pick up their take-out orders. Came here for the first time today with my son, and my boyfriend, and we were pleasantly surprised to say the least. Staff is attentive and polite, without ever making you feel rushed or bothered. The food I was sufficient. Nothing extraordinary. I would have given a three star review, but the woman who waited on me was so very unfriendly, cold, and abrupt. She seems like a very miserable person and I feel sorry for her. She should not be in the service industry if she cannot show just a tiny bit of kindness, or even a general appreciation for customers who keep her employed. When I paid my bill, I gave her a cash tip of 31% of my total bill, and told her that it was for her. She did not even say thank you, and only told me to set it down on the table. Common courtesy costs nothing in this world, and this world is already too full of bitter, lonely, and ungrateful people. Wonton soup was creamy and unlike any wonton soup I've never had and not in a good way. Summer rolls were not super fresh, but did have a delicious sweet and sour sauce. However, the combination pad see ewe was inedible. I'm way too cheap to throw out a full meal but I couldn't bring myself to eat it. My husband got horrible food poisoning after eating their "dancing shrimp" dish and had to be taken out on a gurney to the ER! The dancing shrimp dish is raw and supposed to be served as live shrimp...hence the name. Omg! We were passing through here on our way to California and decided to try this place out. I wish we didn't. It was terrible, from the food to the service. My husband got the chicken fried rice (how do you mess up chicken fried rice) with no flavor at all rice was burnt and cheap rice, not at all that jasmine rice. I got the cashew chicken. Dim Sum in Amarillo!? This is automatically a 5. Okay, Going to be realistic, it's obviously not the type of Dim Sum you get in LA, SF, Houston, Austin, the big cities with the carts of ready made stuff... but beggars cant be choosers... They had like 6-7 different options. But I cant blame them considering we were one of two groups in the restaurant. I hope that once more people find out about this place- they will start having more and more options and make this a bigger and better thing. I don't write many reviews but I want this place to become more popular. In addition to dim sum, I have also gone here for the Thai/Chinese food. And it is DANK. Really good. Better than the majority of places in Amarillo and thats a huge bonus considering its super convenient location... ain't nobody got time to drive all the way to the east side! I went with a few other people- we had a bunch of appetizers, a noodle dish, green curry, thai steak, and mongolian beef... and they were ALL good. I'm going to have to come back and try even more things. I am really happy with this place and am sad that the few times I went it was so empty. I hope they expand their dim sum selection. The food is very flavorful. I kind of wished I asked them to make it more spicy- but that's my fault, not theirs. The service was very fast and honestly I cant find any complaints. Actual Thai is hard to find in Amarillo. I've tried a few places, but will faithfully come back to Thai Menu from now on. I'm honestly not sure what authentic Thai is supposed to be like, but whether this is "Texas Thai" or pretty authentic to traditional meals, I love this place and don't really care. I always get the same order: orange chicken, fried rice, and cream cheese puffs. Yes, $5.00 for a lunch sack full of wonderful cream cheese puffs. I LOVE them! My only question about this place (and every other Thai place here) is why do they always give you the chicken sauce on the side? At least with orange chicken/sweet and sour chicken they do. I guess that's just my opinion and questioning since I was used to panda express. How dare I even compare the two? The food is always ready super quickly, and they are very kind. My three item meal costs me $13 and it's PLENTY for a dinner and lunch the next day (and I basically have a hallow leg...) I have no desire to test out any other places. UPDATE: I went wild and tried something different. I changed my orange chicken for sesame chicken and it did come with sauce already on it! It was delightful.
