You can tell that the team cooks and serves with so much love and passion for what they do. I'm a believer that this helps make the food taste even better ;) From the outside, Chili Thai can be easily missed since it's in a little strip off of St. Joseph with other businesses packed together. There isn't room to really sit and eat there, but there is room to stand to pick up your order. Parking is a bit tight and limited since it's shared with the other businesses, so be patient because this place is definitely worth the wait. Even walking by, you can smell the aromas coming out of this gem and they can make anyone drool! I ordered the Pad Thai with Shrimp ($16.95) at a medium spiciness level. It was really tasty but a little too hot for my liking. It was my first time trying medium instead of mild though with this dish, so now I know to go with mild like I usually do. I also got an order of Fresh Spring Rolls with Shrimp and Peanut Sauce ($9.95). The order comes with two rolls. They were also delicious and I absolutely love their peanut sauce. Chili Thai is on the pricier side for Thai take out, but to me it's worth it because you can tell that everything is high quality and the dishes are of good size. I definitely recommend checking them out next time you're in Orleans!

It is a counter in the Queen street fare, that was opened a year or two ago with a high end decor, comfortable environment, and other interesting vendors. The food our party tried (grilled pork on vermicelli, General Tso chicken on rice, spring rolls and pork belly bun) were all well seasoned and fresh. The quantities are on the slightly smaller size but the flavours and freshness are there! The presentation is very nice too. Definitely will have this again.

I had the Chicken Pad Thai $12 and asked them to hold the bean sprouts. Overall I thought it was ok, but nothing great. I was hoping that it would have some other vegetables in it like cabbage, carrots or peppers, but it was basically just noodles, egg, and chicken. It was really un-photogenic and tasted like it looked. I liked that the chicken was lean and there weren't any fatty nor gristlely bits. The flavour itself was ok, not too salty nor too sweet. It didn't taste like ketchup or anything like that thankfully. It was just kind of unremarkable IMO. I would say it was along the lines of Thai Express, but more expensive :(

The Long Version: Rice-Mi recently opened (January 2026) in the space that was Festival Japan. My husband had dinner there and overall the food tasted good and it didn't taste too salty as we were eating it but we were so thirsty afterwards, lol. I got the General Tao Chicken dinner combo ($22) and my husband got the Black Pepper Beef dinner combo ($23) and he had a can of Sapporo beer ($11). I asked for no sesame seeds for my meal and my food arrived as requested. The General Tao Chicken was nice and crispy on the outside and moist and tender on the inside. It was dark meat, which is not my preference, but the meat wasn't too fatty nor gristley at least. The chicken came with carrots, bell peppers and onions. A lot of onions. Too much in my opinion, lol, but I gave them all to my husband and he said they were delicious, haha. Our meals came with a small bowl of white rice and a small cup of soup. The soup had cut up fried tofu puffs, bamboo shoots, edamame and what I think was tiny dried up pieces of chicken. It was a bit random and seemed a little like a bunch of leftover ingredients thrown into a soup, lol, but I guess that's that restaurants do, haha. It wasn't bad. I finished it. My husband enjoyed his Black Pepper Beef. It was tender pieces of beef with bell peppers and onions. Service was pleasant. Decor is nice. They have a few tables against the wall with side partitions so it's a bit more private. I feel it's equally a nice place for a business lunch or for a date or an outing with friends. Street parking only. Review #59 (2026)

The menu looked pretty inviting and had a good mix of meat and vegetarian dishes so we headed over. To say that I was surprised is an understatement. Their ginger beef was literally 10/10 and their chicken and rice dishes were as good as any I've had in Ottawa. My wife liked the pad Thai and with the portion sizes she had lunch for the next day. The service was top notch as well and the prices were more than fair. I wish I could give these guys 4.5 our of 5. Really good. We will be back for sure.

We ordered on the screen with the help of the owner/manager. The Vegan Spinach Mushroom Tofu dumpling were amazing. The outer layer so thin and perfectly steamed and filled. With Hot Chili Oil - absolutely the best. The Vegan Pad Kra Pao with Tofu bought back memories of Chiang Mai Thailand. The flavours to the mark. The spice level incredibly balanced. The serving size was equally disappointing - too less. Definitely not enough as a meal. Never tried Thai style Tacos and was blown away by this fusion. Both the vegan Five Spiced Tofu with Hot Chili Oil and Vegan Portobello Mushroom with Ginger Peanut sauce was what we needed. The freshness of the ingredients, the crunch of fried onions and garlic, onions and tofu. Again just two tacos for $12 is a bit on the higher side IMHO.
