Lobster fisherman's platter with scallops, shrimp, clams and rice
    Diane M.

always an amazing meal here. portions are enormous and delicious. I had the fisherman's platter that came with giant lobster tail and claws, scallops, shrimp and little neck clams served with seafood rice we had oysters and calamari for apps and she kept refilling the bread basket with delicious rolls and mozambique sauce. our server was very friendly but not the best. we gave her the one children's order first but she served everyone else and brought his last. waited an incredibly long time for the apps to be served and meals came shortly after that it's a great family place that also has outside seating would definitely recommend

The prime rib is awesome! Not the most fancy but who needs fancy it's the food and service that matters most. That's what you get here.

Do they still have the eggplant parm?

Does anyone know what the dipping sauce that comes with the bread is? It really is amazing and I was wonder if I could find a recipe online or buy it. Thanks in advance!

Yes, it's called "Faials sauce".. It's from the owners last restaurant that used to be in North Smithfield, RI, called Faials. Not sure of the recipe or if there is one online, only that the owner knows it and holds it in high esteem. So you can try…

I'm sure you can't go wrong with any other entrees, but the opportunity cost is too high for me to try them--we eat here about once a month, and the order's always 4x Bife A Casa plus a couple apps. I understand that some family owned restaurants have favorite regulars and give preferential treatment to certain guests. But this was a very disappointing experience and we will go to other Portuguese restaurants in the future. It's not a great feeling when you are made to feel not as important, at a restaurant that claims to pride itself on making you feel like family. The Lima's

I'll be honest, they didn't look like much at first, but one bite in and I was sold. Perfectly grilled, simple, and that pimento sauce was absolutely bomb. For the main event, we "split" the paella for one... which turned out to be a feast. We powered through and finished every last piece of rice because it was sooooo good. And dessert? Passionfruit mousse. I don't even like passion fruit, but this was hands-down the best mousse I've ever had in my life. The restaurant itself has a quirky, endearing vibe, kind of like walking into a summer party at your grandma's house, complete with fun, kitschy touches. It somehow transports you to old-school southern Spain but maybe that's just me. Jury's still out on the house wine, but with food this good, I'd come back in a heartbeat. Still gets a 5 from me.

My husband and mother both ordered a beer but were told by either the manager or owner that, and I quote "we're a Portuguese bar we don't serve that shit"; I think my mouth quite literally hit the floor. They have a FULL bar and you expect me to believe you do not carry a single beer, specially Portuguese beer like Sagres or Super Block if you claim to be a Portuguese bar? We were told they could not make a bourbon on the rocks for whatever reason and settled water and soda because it was exhausting trying to figure out what the bartender was capable of making or what they had in stock. I have NEVER been treated with such an attitude within 15 minutes of being seated and would never come back here after this meal, the other waiter who eventually took care of us for the rest of the meal was very kind and did his best to make up for what had occurred. There are so many other Portuguese restaurants in East Providence that Riviera doesn't even compare at this point, overall super disappointed.

I ordered a glass of Sutter Home Pinot Grigio ($6) but found out when the bill arrived that I had been served a Josh Pinot Grigio ($10). I much prefer Josh so no problem there. We also asked for water... make sure you ask for tap water, otherwise you will be brought glasses of ice and bottled water ($2.50). My dining companion ordered the Shrimp Mozambique with white rice & mixed veggies ($24), which she found spicy & delicious. The shrimp were huge! I ordered the grilled Cornish hen with mashed potatoes & salad ($18). The potatoes were a little salty for my taste, but the salad was crisp, cold and beautifully presented with a flavorful Italian dressing on the side. As a non-chicken eater, I ordered salad, hush puppies and the catfish sliders. I was also excited that they had a number of local beers on draft. The salad was pretty average and underwhelming. The hush puppies were also just okay. The catfish sliders were the tastiest of the three but I did find a small piece of bone in one. We chose this restaurant because it was close to an event we were attending later in the evening. Since the chicken was well received, I might come back with other chicken enthusiasts, but unlikely I'd check back here myself. Service was pretty speedy but although we requested separate checks at the start of the meal we still got a combined check and had to ask again for the split. Ambience is nice with a bit of a bistro flair and cute chicken themes. The process of making a reservation here is awkward. You have to request the reservation and then they email you later to confirm it. Would be much more convenient if they did Open Table or Resy. Limited parking too. Their lot is small and we had to park on a side road, which was not a big deal as the road seems to be in an industrial area and was not busy.
