Taylor S and I checked this spot out tonight and it was so good! Milton was our server but all of our interactions with the staff were amazing! We were blown away by how chic and pretty this place is. The wall paper was beautiful, the ceiling was unique, the bar and wine display was gorgeous, the colors of the chairs and napkins were really pretty, and the art was gorgeous. Ambiance is very elevated! We had an app and two very different entrees. Taylor devoured her salmon, and said everything was tasty! I had the pistachio chicken pasta dish. It was massive! I literally have leftovers for days! The dish was one of the best pasta dishes I've had all year. It was so flavorful! I was torn at what to get, and def made the right choice thanks to Milton's recommendation. We each had a tasty cocktail and a glass of white that met our individual preferences! We ended our meal with a decaf coffee drink that was so good! It was adorable too! This place has a wonderful menu and an amazing dinner for two deal! Visited a few weeks ago with a friend and we really enjoyed our meals. This is definitely not somewhere you go to eat when you're in a rush. The server was really nice but it was laid back experience and gave us a chance to fully enjoy the bread, drinks, and then appetizers before our entrees came out. My salmon was cooked really well and my friend's chicken pasta dish was insanely big. We enjoyed wine with our meals and ended with decaf espressos. read more

Under new management so don't trust older reviews. No servers, run by a couple who ignore diners. One vaping at the empty bar while customers glasses were empty. Had to ask for bread which came with garlic, in very little oil. Waited over 45 minutes for entrees with only two other couples in the restaurant. Ordered steak medium it came rare served with fries soaked with very salty sauce plain white rice with no seasoning. Not Portuguese steak. My partner's pistachio chicken was also inedible. The fried chicken was cut up and mixed with a heavy Alfredo sauce and wide noodles with no flavor or texture other than mush. When we complained they comped our meals not our two drinks did not apologize or even ask what was wrong with the dishes. Neither person was around as we left almost as if they were hiding and didn't want to deal with us. Everything about this experience was almost comically bad. The place wasn't busy yet we waited 15-20 minutes to get a waiter after being seated. 4 people, 1 water glass. The bread was so dry and hard it would chip a tooth if you're not careful. The service was bad from start. The food was bland and just not good. Having lived in Fall River for almost 20 years, sometimes I forget that there are delicious spots right here at home. My boyfriend took me to Douro for Valentine's Day, and the menu did not diaappoint! We got drinks at the bar as we waited to be seated, both were top notch. For our meal, we had the white cheese plate and I got tithe lobster ravioli and he, the Portuguese filet mignon. We shared some Brussels sprouts and mashed for sides. Everything was delicious! We had to try Douro's outdoor patio and it was great! Spacious and private without feeling in the middle of the city. I tried the Portuguese steak and hubby tried the Mozambique chicken and both were flavorful and delicious. Red wine sangria was very good! You MUST try. Our server was right on point and attentive. We went after seeing them listed as a participant in the Fall River Restaurant Weeks website. They were able to accommodate my handicap with good parking even though there is VERY limited parking. We ordered very different combinations, but for my dinner, I wanted my Portuguese Steak cooked blue, or very rare. When it arrived, unfortunately, it was more than medium. So, I sent it back, and luckily our waiter, who did have trouble communicating with us throughout the evening, got the issue resolved and my Steak was delivered to perfection. The web site says "Each dish, a masterpiece crafted with care, narrating tales of heritage and authenticity." So after waiting an hour and half for you meal you would expect something above average. What we got was... well... "Meh". I ordered the 24oz rib eye, the only rib eye option aside from the tomahawk rib eye. It was cooked to order, medium rare, and arrived with a nice crust. My baked potato was sitting in a dish in a pool of melted butter, no the butter had not been poured over the potato; the potato had been placed in the butter. I cut into my rib eye and took a bite. I was expecting flavor and tenderness, that is not what I got. There were no seasonings on my rib eye, no salt, no pepper, no garlic... nothing and it was lacking the tenderness I expect from a rib eye. No salt or pepper on the potato, nothing on the skin of the potato, and no salt or pepper on the tables. If you're not going to season the food as you cook it you should be providing salt and pepper to your diners! Also, the glazed carrots were, in my opinion, under cooked and much to firm for my liking. One of the other people went with (there were 4 of us) ordered the crispy duck. Apparently it was not crispy and half of it was dry. Duck, dry? Yup. The third person said her potatoes were tasty, that was the best she could say about her meal. The fourth person had no complaints except the hour an half wait. For this I paid $163 dollars for 2 people. A supposedly high end steak house serving "masterpieces crafted with care" took too long to deliver below average food. No, I won't be returning and no, I don't recommend the place. In case you're thinking it was an isolated experience, the table next to us got up to walk out because the food hadn't arrived after an hour and half. It was coming out as they left so they returned to the table and ate. By comments they made they were not very impressed by the quality of their meal either. You've been warned. During our time spent in Fall River we learned that there is a huge Portuguese population there. We knew there was one in P-Town out on The Cape in Mass, which makes sense being the first piece of land you would hit coming from Portugal, but this was a surprise. We immediately after hearing how readily available Portuguese food was wanted a taste of the country we fell for years ago, and have had such good times in. My husband LOVED the food he had there. We stumbled upon Douro, which is technically a steakhouse but you will find some Portuguese gems like cod cakes similar to the ones you would eat on the street in Lisboa and some Mozambique shrimp which had a TON of flavor!! We also ordered the curried chickpeas which were to die for. The dishes were packed with punch but not too spicy! They both came with generous helping of rice, perhaps even too much. The chickpeas were a starter and we had no idea that we would be receiving such a huge bowl! Definitely ask about portion size before ordering. The decor was so funky and cool, our waitress was kind and knew the Ins and outs of each dish, and although we are VERY against indoor dining during covid, we had the entire dining room to ourselves mid-day, mid-week. The seasonal pumpkin brews and cocktails in fall completed the meal perfectly. Give me all the cinnamon sugar rims on local pumpkin brews Lovey! Walked in to a very fancy place, nice ambience. The servers were nice and polite and the service still managed to be poor. Over ONE HOUR AND A HALF waiting for the food. I waited 5 minutes and realized there was only one table of customers there and the hostess/bartender/waitress popped her head in to say she'd be there to greet us. To start, upon sitting at our table, I noticed the glasses both wine and water were dirty - visible lip marks. Not a great start! The meals came out at different times - a personal pet peeve. My husbands steak and side were under seasoned so he asked for salt. The owner said "Are you sure?" Then upon giving him the salt said "I won't tell the chef!" SERIOUSLY?!! For now 4 Stars. I've been here twice, First time was a five star visit, with my wife and I. Great food and amazing service!! Great recommendations by our server who was very helpful and attentive but not overly so which is good. Second Visit, The first time I was so impressed I really wanted to go back. This time i was with my wife, 86yo mom and my 9yo son. This time we decided to try brunch. Again the service was top notch and the food was amazing. They have some great unique items on the regular menu and the brunch menu. My lack of 5 stars isn't so much the restaurant as much as it was the table of 8 that came in at the tail end of our brunch. Mostly trashy women who love to talk very loud and constantly use the F bomb as well as other profanities. Mind you at this time the restaurant was empty minus our table and this other table of 8. It was embarrassing to take my mom and my son to a place that catered to this type of crowd. This is a new nicely decorated place that has the servers and food to match. I was really hoping the staff would have said something to these folks and explained to them this was not the place for this type of language or for being so excessively loud. Reminder again we were the only two table with people, it's not like they had to talk over anyone. I am headed back with some friends, table of 4. I can honestly say that if this is what this restaurant allows to happen, I will not be back. Went there on February 24th. The food was very good. No complaints there. However, for a restaurant to have up-scale aspirations the service has to be at least very good. It wasn't. It was a wait for everything. I made the reservation on line. This resulted in emails and texts over the week to confirm we were going. Yes Yes yes. We get there and the table wasn't ready. No big deal, but it was an indicator of what the night would be like. Our waiter was very apologetic and tried, but instead of a memorable night in a good way, it was memorable in a bad way. I am so happy that i found this restaurant! We were looking to find a steakhouse open on a Monday - and our only options were the standard chain restaurants - which we didn't want. Went to Yelp and found Townhouse and Douro Steakhouse. The whole experience was amazing, from the initial greeting, to our server Erin, to the ambiance (dimly lit - dark - cozy - beautiful Christmas Tree) - not to mention the food and wine - OUTSTANDING! Let's start with the fact that they didn't have my reservation saved, then the guy tells us (party of 10 people) that they can be ready in 15 minutes, 45 minutes later I ask what's going on, and the manager assured me 6 minutes, he assured this is a real time, (he's not lying this time?) wrong 20 minutes later we're seated, another 15 before they offered water, and bread in this way.... Would you like bubbling water, bottled water, or Fall River water, with Fall River being highlighted, would you like bread with that? Yes we do, they came out with 2, that's right TWO bread baskets for a party of 10! They give couples a basket now I'm not asking for 5 but 2? Then they bring back the water, THEN ask for what we'd like for drinks, made our drink orders.... 15 minutes later drinks come out, then they take the food orders, no word of a lie, we didn't see them again for if we needed drinks bread anything for another 30 minutes, finally was starving of hunger and dying of thirst by now (exaggerating) I had to go ask if we could get another round of bread and drinks while we wait for our food that we ordered 30 minutes ago, 10 minutes we wait for some bread baskets and drinks, so 40 minutes after we gave our food order we received bread and drinks....another 30 minutes goes by, absolutely 0 SERVICE! Egg on the Mozambique fries was undercooked, runny whites...gross Calamari was less than average, grilled octopus came out swimming in some weird sauce, dripping off a flat plate, "stuffed" shrimp was dry and overcooked with barely any stuffing...basically 3 dry shrimp in a casserole dish with some crumbs sprinkled around The only good thing we had were a half dozen oysters. Should have been tipped off when we got there we were the only customers on a Sunday night Wait staff was friendly but when it was time to pay the bill we literally walked around the restaurant looking for anyone to help us. This was our first time there. It was a nice atmosphere. Service was not great at all. We ordered two dozen oysters some were fresh other were frozen! It then took two hours to get our meals. Our reservations were at 7 didn't get our meals until 9. Surf and turf steak was cooked on the inside and completely burnt on the outside and was so small like a bifana. Also ordered salmon with vegetables and the vegetables were completely cold. By the time we got our food we weren't even hungry anymore. Drinks were forgotten. The only thing enjoyable was dessert. Not worth the money we spent. Guess everyone has a different experience ours just wasn't that great unfortunately. read more

On 02/14/2023 I made a reservation for 2 at 7:30PM. we arrived early and were told it would be "15 to 20 minutes," along with 8+ other couples who were also waiting with reservations while being told the same thing. We stood around the crowded hostess stand for an hour and were not SEATED until 8:35PM. We then sat at a table for another 20 minutes without so much as a greeting, never mind a glass of water. We, along with 4-5 other separate couples all walked out after the poorest possible service, no meals and no effort to accommodate us. Clearly overbooked and understaffed.
