The last year, I-tea has substantially increased in quality and it is a customer favorite to come to for the best snack food and drinks. Workers are friendly and kind. There is still a quiet attentiveness even during peak rush hours which I highly respect. Visited during a busy time on a weekday and there was no structure in how the orders were being called out. They would call out a number and leave the drink on the counter. Multiple people were grabbing drinks that weren't theirs to check them and then they would put them down. If you ordered through the app they put your drinks behind the counter on the side where you have to ask for help. But there's no one there to help you. I went to the counter to ask about my order since it was taking a while and I didn't see my number on their "in progress" screen, the lady at the cashier just walked away to work on other drinks. I wouldn't go back here again, at least not during their busy times otherwise you may be waiting for your drinks for a while. I'm not even sure how long my order was just sitting there. read more

I was in the mood for something fruity, so I went with fruit-based drinks and they were all super refreshing, exactly what I needed that day. The snack selection is huge, which makes it tough to decide. This location isn't the best. Visited on a Sunday shortly after opening and there was one employee making drinks out front and one employee in the back. Another employee came around 11:45am and was late. The two employees out front were chatting about transferring colleges and taking their time to make my drink. Took about 15 minutes to get my completed order. Popcorn chicken was ready in about 10 minutes tho. The employee yelled out my number but no other acknowledgement or communication was given. Very sad service despite tipping. A simple thanks or appreciate you waiting would have sufficed, as they clearly like to communicate with one another. The popcorn chicken was delicious but came with no basil or garlic. Not sure how this is a basil popcorn chicken as there was nothing. The drink was also not the best. The boba wasn't good at all but the drink itself was fine but together, definitely did not enjoy. Overall, I won't be back. Stopped by for a cold refresher on a hot Sunday afternoon. I was a bit hesitant based on the reviews but there weren't many other options nearby. Similar to what other Yelpers noted, it took a solid 20mins for two drinks. It was a bit confusing to follow the digital countdown for each order as my order went back and forth and at one point went from 0 mins to 5 mins. However the drinks were made exactly how we ordered. There's enough seating inside and the place is clean. It was pretty crowded and they were constantly receiving pick up orders too. Overall, not a bad option if you're shopping nearby and need a cold sweet boba treat! Just be prepared to wait 10-20mins. read more

The store is pretty spacious with a good amount of tables and chairs for seating. My partner and I ordered the Black Tea Oreo & Creamy and a White Peach Blossom Oolong Tea. Hits: * Black Tea Oreo & Creamy was pleasantly deliciously. I've had Oreo drinks previously and it lacked the authentic flavor of Oreos. The Oreo drink here was blended very well and wasn't too sweet which I liked. Average: * White Peach Blossom Oolong Tea was decent. It had a bit of the aroma of the tea but I think it would have been better if it was brewed a bit longer for the taste to be a lot stronger. I had it with aloe vera and it was refreshing. Final Verdict: Solid 3/5. The drinks were decent, I really did enjoy the Oreo drink but the White Peach Oolong could have been better. I had tried this restaurant's Newark location before. Today, with no other options available, I ended up choosing this branch, which was packed with people. For the fried items, I ordered tempura fish cake (tasted good), squid balls (also good), popcorn chicken (seemed to be made with chicken breast so it was a bit dry), and takoyaki (pretty average). As for the drink, I got the peach oolong tea. Since I requested zero sweetness and zero ice, it ended up tasting like... nothing at all. Because the place was so crowded, it was hard to feel any sense of service or enjoy the interior vibe. I'd rate the food 4 out of 5, the drink 3 out of 5, and the environment 3 out of 5. It's been a while so let's do an update! iTea has been an option for milk tea and boba for us for some time. Today must have been an off day because we walked in and it smelled....bad. Like putrid. Like someone had a bad experience in the bathroom kind of bad and I was wondering why they didn't keep the door open. Parking is usually challenging but it was fine today. They use two different systems for getting orders. I didn't check today what their two kiosks use but generally they're using Snackpass but with that ordering system, you don't have freedom to change toppings that are associated to a drink and you're locked in. I used their iTea app today and what I like about that app is that you can change the topping that's preassociated to a drink. I did order through this app today which uses Revel. So I had to create an account within the app. It's like layers of apps. Anyways, with this app I was able to use Apple Pay. Another plus. Getting the drinks took a bit of time as the drinks are associated with a pick up time and my reception in the area was bad. So I ordered around 12:45pm but after going through all the ordering hoops, I finally got a confirmation email that said pick up at 1:06pm. Either way, it was ready before the time which was good. Outside of the smell, the drinks here have been fairly consistent and a good size for the price. They have a variety of drinks with plenty of options to choose from. read more

With the 17 different toppings available, you are able to customize your drink how you see fit. This is by far the most disappointing I-Tea location. I frequent the SJ and Milpitas locations weekly, always ordering a Hot Ginger Milk in the Winter. Happened to be in the Pacific Commons area so I ordered my usual...only to be shocked to get Ginger WATER instead!!! Had a feeling something was wrong when it took 15-20 minutes for my drink order when there was only one couple ahead of me. The guy making my drink looked lost too. I get it, Ginger Milk probably isn't a popular order but 1) it's called Ginger MILK...um maybe that means it has milk in it?? and 2) if you don't know how to make it, then how about you ask??? The drink was super hot so admittedly I didn't try it before I left, so I did not realize this travesty until I was too far away to turn back. What a waste of money. We've given this milk tea shop multiple chances, but unfortunately, we've had the same disappointing experience each time. My husband and I always order Matcha with red bean and matcha pudding, and on three separate visits the red bean tasted completely off--spoilt, sour, and disgusting. I know red bean very well, and it should never taste that way. One time, we even brought our drinks back. At first, a female worker hesitated to redo it, until another worker tasted it and almost threw up from how bad it was. They immediately threw the batch away and replaced our drinks, which we appreciated. Because of that, we decided to give them another chance, hoping they'd start keeping their toppings fresh (especially red bean). Unfortunately, on our most recent visit, for the fourth time, the red bean was spoiled. At this point, we've lost trust in their quality control. It's been years since then, so I'm not sure if they still have it, but I think for a chain it's a solid choice to go to since there's lots of drinks with a variety of toppings, hot food snacks, lots of customization available, and is open decently late! We got the: 1) C4 Okinawa Milk Tea: -I got this with egg pudding and got it less sweet. -Still a bit too sweet to my taste, but the egg pudding is yummy and overall tastes like milk candy. -I'd get this with less sweetness, but it's a solid Okinawa milk tea. 2) M7 Crème Brulee Boba Milk Tea: -I got this without the boba though lol. -Even with sweetness adjustment, this was also way too sweet. I think the crème brulee was what did it, especially in making the drink much too thick. -I've had much better crème brulee milk teas out there, so I'd skip this. 3) P10 Double Chocolate Tea Bobaccino: -I got this with 0% sugar, and it was made deeply sweet by the boba in the drink and the generous amount of chocolate syrup in the drink. -Great if you love chocolate, but once again, much too sweet. 4) B4 Tofu Hua & Red Bean: -I got this with 30% ice and 0% sugar. -This was the best drink we got out of the lot, and this might be due to my own hubris or nostalgic memories. -More of a dessert, but it's enjoyable with the sweet tofu and earthiness of the red bean. I think it might have been just poor choices on my part, but with the cost and variety, I'll be back (and this time to get snacks too). read more

I've grown up with I-Tea and since their Newark location closed a while ago, I thought I would try the next closest one. I've also had it in Castro Valley. Despite this being a chain, the quality seems inconsistent. Pros: The menu is vast - lots of drinks and snacks to choose from. You can customize your sweetness and ice level (there's even a 110% sweet option) and this particular location is spacious, clean, and even decorated for the holidays. It wasn't crowded when I went and the service was quick. Cons: For the price, I wasn't impressed by the taste of the drink or toppings. I got the Special Fruit Tea drink and it tasted watered down and not fruity at all. Maybe the fruits were too dry and bled of all flavor, I'm not sure. When I got the same drink in Castro Valley, it tasted great so I'm not sure what happened. Since it's a popular option I'm surprised they haven't perfected it. Probably wouldn't come to this location again since there are better boba options nearby that are less expensive and taste better. read more

I-tea is one of the places that makes great popcorn chickens. I find myself always comparing the flavor and texture of their chicken to other places and sadly nothing can compete! They also have a great variety of other snacks that I love. Their drinks are ok, in terms of flavor, but definitely is still a good contender. As for the customer service, you order from the self service kiosk, so no to minimal interaction with the workers. This place is still my top boba place to get snacks from, so definitely will go back again. read more
