We've been going here for years. Usually right after grabbing some pho at Pho 99 right next door. Tonight, my daughter go the matcha milkshake; she got it once before and loved it. They made it very quick too, but maybe cause they were closing. She consumes most of it, and i drank the last little bit, but got a whiff of sour smell? I thought, did they add some cheese topping or something? I smell the cap and went, nope that's spoiled milk. Opened the lid and took a whiff of the drink, nope that's spoiled milk. Hour later, she's saying her tummy hurts, no diarrhea but sat on the toilet all sad for a while. Some crackers and water helped, but disappointed for sure. We tried the Cheese Strawberry drink first, it tasted more like a basic strawberry slushy, something you could easily get at Quickly. The Dalgona Coffee wasn't as sweet as expected and had a slightly burnt taste. The Mango Lemon Tea also wasn't as sweet as we hoped. The best drink of the bunch was the Black Milk Tea. It was solid, but still not quite worth the long wait. With boba prices continuing to rise in the Bay Area, especially given the current economy, the experience was... not bad, not great. This is my new go-to spot for a quick boba fix. Boba Queen is a no frills, small business with all of the basic milk tea and fruit tea drinks as well as several food items. This is not a high quality tea spot if you're a tea enthusiast looking for pure tea, but more of a Quickly / TapEx vibe in the best way. I've tried their classic milk tea with boba on a couple of occasions and it's basic but good. Their popcorn chicken and fried combo (popcorn chicken, fish balls, tofu) are delicious. So my fiancé and I decided to go there to support the business. ‍ Let me be real, I love Boba Queen and it's my first time going to a boba spot that have amazing selections of boba tea drinks, coffees, rice bowls and even snacks! I ordered a Mango drink w/ cheese foam + mango popping boba and a tofu rice bowl. My fiancé ordered a Dalgona coffee w/ large boba and a beef stew rice bowl. On the side, we ordered popcorn chicken (my fiancé's most favorite to eat at any boba place!) and fried Oreos. When I tried everything as mentioned, it tasted amazing. Drink, perfect and cool. Rice bowls, it made me full for almost the whole day so it's delicious. But oh my goodness?! Popcorn chicken is so good!! They made the seasoning just right and the texture inside out, PERFECT! Boba place in the same complex as 99Ranch. I went here a while back and remembered that I liked the popcorn chicken so figured I would go back. This place is kinda old. It makes me feel a little bit nostalgic for the old boba places like Tapex and Quickly back in the early 2000s. The huge board of menu items, the specials and the new seasonal items plastered all over the place. We got some fruit teas, popcorn chicken and squidheads. The popcorn chicken was delicious as expected. One serving was enough for two people. Very generous portions. Now the squidheads. Very Very fishy. I usually order squids with tentacles when I go to places like this so I knew what to expect. But the smell on this was stronger than usual. It also tasted a little funny so I ended up not finishing it. Overall, I will still come back, I do like everything else I get usually, I just won't order the squidheads again. read more

Today, however, I bought a popcorn chicken rice bowl and specifically ordered extra basil. I opened my box to see absolutely none. I paid an extra 75¢, not a big deal on the price, but moreso on lack of communication that there was no basil. I always order extra basil when i come here and usually get it, so to not receive it today disappointed me. The drinks are tasty and the food is good! I stop by here once a week for a drink and mozzarella sticks. They have a special dipping sauce that gives it that extra flavor. The workers are friendly and very helpful. They have a small dining area but it's not an issue. My niece also likes coming here, I bring her by every now and then and she loves it. Last weekend we visited and she forgot her backpack on one of the tables. We noticed about ten minutes after leaving and called them to check. A lot of food and drink options, nothing exceptionally stellar but they do have some special, creative items that are consistently good and reasonably priced. They do seem understaffed at times so wait times can be a bit long. On the corner of this mall, stacked with Asian staples and delights, you'll find Boba Queen which took over what formerly was Quickly. Within walking distance to popular bus stops and other public services like the church, schools, and after school programs, this is a nice place to make a stop en route to your next destination. The interior is small, but still hosts a good number of seats and tables, although not many seem to be used during the times I've been around. This last visit was during the late morning and there were only two other patrons in the shop. Ordering is simple, that is after you've had a thorough look at their massive menu. As with many places nowadays, they have a kiosk to take in your order but they also do take cash orders through a typical register. Card transactions are only taken via the kiosk. They do have combos that include a snack and a drink (a limited selection of them) that does shave off a dollar or two from your meal. For drinks, you'll have the option to customize the size (small or large), ice level, sweetness level, and toppings (extra cost except for dirty boba which already comes with honey boba). Although despite asking for only half sweetness, the dirty boba was still quite sweet. May need to tone down the sweetness even further next time. As for food, that stood out to me was their selection of flavors for eggettes/egg puffs. We ended up getting the popping boba one and matcha/strawberry combo. Beware, however, each egg puff can take up to 10 minutes to make. Our order wasn't fulfilled until after 20 minutes of waiting (and after the other patrons who ordered just drinks got their order). I'm not sure how their other food or drink options turn out but I'm willing to come back and try. The quality is pretty good and price is perhaps a little above average. As it seems to be understaffed, I'd imagine the service level can be substandard during peak time or if they're receiving a lot of orders that involve making egg puffs. They do receive a fair bit of takeout orders so if you don't want to wait too long, that may be the way to go. The name fits for sure. It's definitely not the best you'll get in terms of quality, value, or service but it's good enough to be considered as another option for your boba fix. Other than the snow, the snacks are priced around $6-9, with the bentos at $12. I used to order calamari here but the prices have climbed a bit out of my price range. Ordering is pretty easy. I don't get it, the spot was so cute it shouldn't have been terrible! Guest service was not great. The lack of noise/ambient sound honestly made it feel eerie a little bit. I walked in, three people were behind the counter, leaning over and on their phones. The workers looked like they dreaded working here -- It was empty (save one customer waiting for his order) as I walked in on a beautiful Wednesday. The ambiance was quiet, not much happening. Waited to be helped for a few minutes before a gentleman rounded the corner, looked at me, and went back to doing what he was in the middle of. Few minutes later, a young lady came from the back and asked for my order. She wasn't too friendly or welcoming. Gave blunt responses and had a detached, dreaded tone. My entire food order came out wrong -- The order was clear: 2 popcorn chicken, one friend calamari, and one hot and the other mild. Tiger milk tea with boba Both chickens came out with no spice, the dough on the calamari was undercooked, and the boba drink had only one layer coating the bottom. The good: I tried a mango coconut delight under the slushy section. Their menu is huge and they have a lot more snack and food items than the average boba spot. They even offer bento boxes. You can adjust sweetness on all drinks (including the slushy). They seem to blend their smoothies to order rather than have it pre-made. They have outdoor seating areas and some high chairs inside (though it seems to be more for waiting than sitting and eating). They have a whole section for rose tea based drinks. The bad: I expected my drink to be both mango and coconut flavored but it's a coconut slushy with mango bits on top. The coconut slushy tasted like ice blended with sweetened coconut cream from the can. Overall, I think most folks might like it but that canned coconut cream flavor isn't my favorite and I wanted more mango. The wait for the smoothie was a little longer than I expected. I always order the same drink (Black Milk Tea with small boba). I used to rave about how delicious this place makes their milk tea but over the past two years I have walked out feeling disappointed in the taste. My guess is they have opted for a cheaper brand of tea base because it tastes so much blander and watery. Updating my review :) Service is significantly better now, with very sweet and nice cashiers and excellent COVID enforcement. They only allow 2-3 people in the store at once, and you must wait outside for your food. I got the Papaya snow which is one of my favorites and it was blended to perfection, although it was a bit sweeter than usual. Chicken comes out hot, fresh, and tender/juicy but a bit on the salty side so if you're sensitive to salt, make sure to tell them "less salt" and it won't be so bad. I recommend eating the chicken right away - within an hour of you getting it. If you let it sit for a bit and get to it later, the chicken becomes hard and weird to chew (the skin part). Not sure why. Milk tea is average, boba is great. read more

Since I've moved to Union City, Boba Queen has been my go to boba spot. I've tried so many boba places and they always satisfy my taste buds. Downside is that the parking lot is always full. I love that they have different toppings to add to your drinks. My favorite is the small boba and the lychee jelly! My number one go to drink is the Mango coconut delight. It has small chunks of mango and I believe aloe. Other drinks that I would recommend is the tiger milk tea (Thai tea and milk tea), Thai tea and avocado snow. Aside from the mango coconut delight the number one reason of why I go here is because of their squid heads! Out of all the boba places around the area I love their squid heads. It has a sweet and salty taste to it. Downside is that they cut down the amount they give you. Compared to other places they don't give you as much. But I still get it! I visited this place for the first time today. The shop is small and painted primary colors, which is different from most modern soft and neutral colors you see in most places these days. There are covid flyers, outdoor seating, and employees wear masks. They also have plastic shields to separate employees and staff which are a few feet tall but to supplement that they have 3 clear shower curtains hanging from the ceiling down. I'm not sure if it was to extend the shield or prevent the effect of wind blowing inside since they keep the doors open for airflow. The employees are super nice and friendly! They have a nice selection of drinks and side dishes/snacks. We ordered a boba taro milk tea and passion fruit slush. The passion fruit slush was really good; the taro drink was not my favorite. I always get taro when I try new places to serve as my baseline. This taro seems to have little chunks in it, but is not grainy like t4, for example.
